Minuets' life is just about as bad as it can get. In fact, so far she thinks her lot in life couldn't be any worse. That is until she walks through the forest around home one day and finds a injured man and then gets shot herself. She wakes up in a strange place and things appear to go from bad to worse, when she is mistaken for someone else.
Chason and Rance need to get Chason's spy wife back to save face with his people, when they storm a pirate vessel and grab the woman, they have no idea she is a woman from Earth. Why would they when she looks and talks just like Chason's betraying wife. But as facts start to unfold, maybe the stories she's telling aren't so far fetched after all.
Interplanetary travel, sexy alphas, a pack mentality and a 48 year-old woman who has just been given a body to die for make up this sexy sci-fi.
Born and raised in Ontario, C. L. Scholey developed her passion for writing through her love of reading books as a child. Her first book was contracted in Oct 2009 the very same month her first grand son was born. C. L. Scholey still lives in Ontario, in a rural community with her husband and daughter.
From the author: Hello, I'm Connie! Now that we've met how about I tell you a little about me? I love to write, it's like having a super power.
I was born and raised in Ontario...yes I'm Canadian, no I don't live in an igloo, no I've never pet a polar bear, but I have run into a few black bears, seen wolves, moose, coyotes and I think there's a hundred pound squirrel in my attic.
I spend as much time as I can get away with looking for rocks in Bancroft. When I'm not in Bancroft I live in a small town, so people know me when they see me. Some ask me what I'm working on--some even ask me in a regular voice not a whisper.
I get bored easily, it's why one day I'll be working on assassins, the next Sci-fi, then Vikings, then vampires, then planning world domination--wait, what?
Moving on. I love animals and we have a dog, 120p mastiff. He's great with the kids and careful around them, but he'd run me over for a piece of bologna. Otherwise he loves us.
If you want to get to know me better join me on FB or twitter. Right now I need to change back into a mom, it's my best super power.
Only 80 pages but so different from the expected alien mate abduction genre. But then, that's no surprise for this author, she's always stepping outside thebox and making it work.
I finished reading this book late last night and this morning I'm struggling to write a review...still tired I guess. Minuet wakes to a strange new world. In fact she wakes to a brand new, for her, body. It's younger and better looking without the defects of her old body. Only this is not a new body, it's someone else's body. In storms her husband and his beta. He is an alpha. Well, not HER husband but the bodies husband, and he is not a happy man. He's a betrayed one. Minuet does manage to prove she is not who they think, despite outward appearances. Only in this world it means she has to do things she has never had to do before...like dance. Minuet's old body needed a brace, and she walked with a pronounced limp with the aid of a walking stick. She had been badly injured in an accident at 19. Now there is a lot of somewhat confusing information about this planet and it's customs that Minuet is now on a crash course to learn and it did make me shake my head a few times trying to get it all straight in my head. Chason is basically a good guy who has been badly betrayed by the previous possessor of Minuet's body and he takes awhile to get over that. His beta, Rance, seems besotted but sweet. My biggest complaint with this story was how old Minuet acted, especially the way she spoke, mainly in the beginning. She is 48 years old, she sounds like she's about 88! I am 47, nearly 48, I have friends and family around the same age and older and NONE of us talk like that! Body wise, I know we all age differently, and Minuet has had a pretty hard luck life so I'll give you she may look and feel differently about her body than the average 48 year old. I repeat, 48 is NOT OLD! The ending was a little more abrupt then I would have liked and I think an epilogue would have been nice. I like epilogues :)
Though the description of this book did not appeal to me, the cover did. I decided to give it a chance. Whoa-baby! I was not expecting such an interesting description of these beings. The light humor was very good. I felt the story was lacking in some areas, like more interaction between characters mentioned, but it was still 5 star worthy for a short read. If you need a short break from reality or a quick fix...This book is the one to read. I wish this story was longer with more development, but it was still very good for a shorter story.
