This is a second chance romance that is the perfect blend of ANGST-FILLED, EMOTIONAL & MELT YOUR KINDLE HOTTT MOMENTS!!!!
Emelyn LaClaire was honored to be the Maid of Honor in her best friend’s wedding, but it came with a catch. She has to walk down the aisle with her ex fiancé, Lawson McCoy. He's not just the Best Man; he's also her best friend’s brother, and she’s loved him since she was eight years old.
Emelyn has avoided any kind of contact with Lawson since the day everything fell apart during her sophomore year at the University of Alabama. Now, after four years of avoiding him, she's not just seeing him, she also has to walk down the aisle with him - the one man she dreamt of marrying almost all her life...
Lawson McCoy only has a single regret, and it's throwing away the one thing that was good in his life. When his sister, Delilah, and her fiancé, Grayson, asked him to be the Best Man, it came with a stipulation. Do not in any way mess up their wedding. That’s easier said than done, especially when the one girl who would rather stick hot pokers in her eyes than look at him will be walking down the aisle beside him....
New York Times & USA Today Bestselling author who took a chance and wrote her first book in 2013. It was the beginning to a whirlwind journey into the world of a published author with now over 20 books available on amazon.
Danielle Jamie is a contemporary romance author who loves getting lost in a good book or writing a memorable love story. Her most popular works are her Bestselling Savannah Series, her heart wrenching standalone Tempt my Heart and her steamy taboo books the Stepbrother Series!
She loves traveling and seeing the world all the while meeting her fans along the way at Author Events.
Overall this was a cute in between, palette cleansing book but it needed a better editing job. There were times I was taken out of the story due to continuity issues and I felt like there were some BIG issues resolved way too quickly.
Revised 7/24/15 to add my Amazon comments.
Though I thought this was a cute and quick read, I'm a little baffled by all of the 5 star reviews. Overall I have nothing bad to say but the writing just fell a little flat for me. Big issues were resolved WAY too quickly or brushed under the rug entirely in my opinion in the name of moving on with the relationship. I'm not a fan of that in real life and it didn't work for my here either. On a positive note, the dialogue between the characters flowed naturally and added a little fun to the story.
This is my first read by Miss Jamie. And it won't be my last. I am very very liking this book. It is short but it packs with punches. The right punches. The story of second romance is one of my favorite trope.
Mine Would be You contains the right aspect. The swoon, the groveling hero, their history and their present chemistry. The wording is also good and addicted. I always appreciate a writer who can write simple romance but packs with the right punches. I am surprise that this book does not have many reviews.
I first read this book as part of an anthology and LOVED IT! But oh my it had one heck of a cliffhanger ending. Now Danielle has made it a complete novel and somehow made me love it more. I am a sucker for second chance at first love and this is one of the best I have read. Lawson and Emelyn have a childhood to highschool to college love story that dreams are made of. Until they have a nightmare of a tragic event tear them apart!
I feel for Lawson we have all been there, making a young dumb mistake. Poor Emelyn is heartbroken and has to go on without him. It wasn't her choice it was his. He has put her through so much her love turned to hate. But we all know there is fine line between love and hate. Everyone deserves a second chance, right? These characters put you on an emotional journey you will not forget. I am a huge Danielle Jamie fan but she has blown me away with this book. I honestly cried from beginning to end. My heart broke in the prologue and happy, happy tears in the end. Definitely her best book to date!
I loved Emelyn and Lawson's story! It was the perfect second chance romance! Danielle Jamie really knows how to tug at her readers' heartstrings, and yet they keep coming back for more. It's impossible to read this book without feeling all of the emotions right alongside the characters. Just when I thought my heart would crumble to pieces, she put it back together again.
Only downfall for me was how the story progressed from the point of Delilah and Grayson's wedding until the end. I felt it was a bit rushed, but then again, this was a quick read for me. Other than that, it was the perfect book to fall in love with this summer! Highly recommend!
I am a huge fan of this author. When she pens a story, it is always brilliant. And this book is the perfect summertime read to get your blood flowing and you kindle sizzling. This book was sweet, sexy, angsty, emotional, fun, and was full of the feels, taking me on one hell of a ride. This story was a beautiful second chance romance between two people who were soul mates and destined to be together but lost their way through pain and tragedy.
This is Emelyn and Lawson’s story. Emelyn and Lawson were once in love and had their future mapped out... together. But in a flash everything came tumbling down. Now years later, they cannot avoid each other any longer. They must face each other after years separated them. They fire still burns between them and the chemistry is still their. Both are still very broken though. They need to heal so they can move on with their lives. Can they find their happy ending?
Oh Lawson... good gracious he made my heat bleed throughout this book. I could feel his pain and sorrows just pouring off of the pages. In the beginning, I wanted to smack him but he came around and showed us who he really was. I also liked Emelyn. Being in her head made me almost dizzy at times with the internal struggle she went through but.. she pushed through. I was rooting for these two to find healing and forgiveness so they could find a way to be together.
Time to head down south to read about young love, tragedy, and second chances. I really enjoyed how Emelyn and Lawson's story was revealed with just the right amount of flashbacks without being overwhelming and in some very poignant places. I got a really good sense of where these two were headed and how it all went wrong. Although I did feel like there was some meat to the story that was missing. It was a lack of depth that didn't have me completely invested and feeling like I should've been. I felt what the characters were feeling, but I didn't take it with me as powerfully as I should have - if that makes any sense. Most especially when Lawson committed a pretty big wrong (in my book) against Emelyn and I wished that she would've made him beg for it a bit more after so much wasted time and useless excuses. Lawson took the guilt and made himself the victim and then hid instead of manning up and facing his mistakes. Now I did grow to like him more, but it was a slow build and then before I knew it it was over. Maybe more Lawson character depth would've helped sway me sooner.
Aside from that I thought this was a really sweet, cute, and sexy story. Things may not have worked out in the way they were supposed to for Lawson and Emelyn, but that's what makes it a memorable story and I can't wait to go back! Thanks to the author for the epilogue!
I first need to start off by saying Danielle is one of the most talented authors I have read. No matter the story you always connect with the characters emotionally. This one was no different. Absolutely one of my favorite books Danielle has wrote!
From the very beginning I knew this book was going to be an emotional roller-coaster. Emelyn and Lawson have loved each since they were kids. When they got engaged right after Emelyn graduated high school and they went to their dream college together life seemed like everything was on track for their happily ever after. While out one night partying and being typical college kids their lives took a drastic change. It's funny how one mistake and bad decision can completely change the rest of your lives.
After the tragedy that changed their lives forever Emelyn is forced to move back home and leave her dream college and friends behind. She has not seen Lawson in four years and still hates what he had done to her. When they finally come face to face for his sisters and her best friend's wedding old feelings start to surface. After a steamy reunion the future seems to be taking an unexpected turn they didn't think would happen after all these years. Will they be able to leave the past in the past and rekindle the love they once shared?
I loved this story. It gave me sadness but then brought it around and gave me joy. It was to the point and not dragged on and on and on .... I like that Emelyn was not a whiny annoying female who just couldn't let anything go. What Lawson did was horrible and yes he deserved to feel what he did and pay to a point, but they were young and everyone deserves a second chance. So although he was an idiot and things did get tragic, he was basically a teen when it happened, not really a man yet mentally, and as he grew into a man he matured and i absolutely think he deserves another chance at love and life. He is redeem-able and shows it every step of the way. the story is well written and the characters blend together well. I truly love this author and cant wait for more in this series !!
I'm at a loss of words for this book. I have yet another favorite book from Danielle Jamie! Danielle knocked it out of the park with Mine Would Be You! I felt so many emotions while reading this book! Emelyn and Lawson are a perfect couple and the chemistry between them will melt your kindle! They are a perfect example of when you find "the one" and life gets rocky there is always a chance that life will turn around and you may just get a second chance. Don't miss out on this beautiful story!

For me Danielle Jamie is THAT author….You know the one right? You don’t need to read the synopsis to know you will love it, the one who never tells a story that will disappoint, No matter what your doing or what your reading they all cease to exist the minute you know its on you kindle….Yeah THAT one!!!
Once again, I wasn’t left disappointed…Mine Would Be You hit my kindle at 2.33 pm and I had devoured it by 5.47pm and WOW, Danielle blew me away with yet again another fantastic story. Within the first chapter I was hooked and heartbroken all at the same time. To say Lawson and Emelyn’s story made me feel every emotion going is an understatement. I felt their loss, anger, hurt, guilt and hate but most of all throughout the whole book no mater what happened I felt their love for one another.
WARNING….STOCK UP ON YOUR TISSUES, TURN YOUR PHONE OF, FIND A QUIET SPOT AND BRING YOUR ALCOHOL!!!
When 8 year old Emelyn moved to a new town she didn’t expect to find new friends…but not only did she find a friend she fell in love at first sight with the cute older boy next door.
Lawson felt exactly the same….she was the one who would one day be his wife.
“I knew the second I met her that she was the girl I wanted to spend my life with. Sure, I was only ten, and she was eight, but I knew the moment I saw her running up to my sister and me, who were sitting on our porch watching them move in, that love at first sight existed” Lawson
Emelyn’s dreams were ripped from her 4 years ago, everything that she was certain off disappeared in the blink of an eye. After returning home 4 years ago she has had to make the best life for her based on new dream but there is always that one thing missing, the other half of her...Lawson.
“I’ve tried to move on. I’ve dated, met some amazing men, but none of them have clicked the way I did with Lawson. Our Love was instant, all consuming, and what I thought would be the greatest love story of all time” Emelyn
Lawson has carried around his guilt and regret for the past 4 years but he has never stopped loving Emelyn (of that you can be sure). Lawson has stayed away but with his sister Delilah’s wedding 2 weeks away he has to return home. Lawson is best man and with Delilah being best friends with Emelyn it’s going to be hard to stay away since she is the Maid of Honor.
Emelyn knows she will see him again and she tries to convince her best friend Delilah and herself it wont effect her, she can do this...its only 2 weeks. All she has to do is walk down the isle with him and dance at the reception this will be easy! That is until Lawson rides into town on his Harley and she sees him….How wrong was she?
“Lawson McCoy is my ultimate weakness” Emelyn
They both know that the only way they can get thru the next 2 weeks is to talk to one another and let go of the hurt and everything that has happened in the past and move forward, Lawson can go back to his life and Emelyn back to hers…Cue the emotional rollercoaster!!!
“Loving you is both exhilarating and crippling” Lawson
Neither one have been living they have just been existing but how can they get the closure they both need, How do you get over your one true love (they have both been trying to do this for the past 4 years).
It’s not a case of forgive and forget…it’s a case of embrace and remember.
Well done and a massive THANK YOU to Danielle. Such a beautiful, heartfelt emotional second chance love story that has it all. Mine Would Be You will definitely give all other books in this genre a run for its money.
What a beautiful second chance romance! Danielle Jamie did an amazing story of telling Lawson and Emelyn story and making you fall in love with this book.
Lawson and Emelyn have been in love since they first met when Emelyn was 8 and Lawson was 10. They get engaged when Lawson heads off to college, and then one night, everything changes for these two. Lives are ruined, hearts are broken, and Lawson and Emelyn spend the next four years trying to stay as far away from one another.
Lawson did do some horrible things four years ago, so I definitely understand Emelyn's hatred towards him, but being as though her best friend Delilah (Lawson's sister) is getting married in two weeks, these two need to figure things out so Delilah can have the wedding she deserves. Emelyn wasn't prepared to feel so much towards Lawson when they finally talked, and she wasn't expecting the hatred she had for him to slowly diminish, but over time things change, and these two are still meant to be together.
I love how Emelyn didn't see Lawson, and forgive him for everything. No, they became civil, she still has feelings for him, just as he does for her, but they need to move past everything and forgive before they can make things right. There are some pretty hilarious moments leading up to these two finally figuring things out, Delilah's wedding is one example.
Emelyn and Lawson's story is beautiful, tragic, and loving. My heart broke for them for the things that happened, for how they are living their lives currently, for them both being scared to take the risk of loving each other again. I must stay I really enjoyed how these two got back together, and how their story ended. I laughed, cried, wanted to throw my Kindle, and everything in between while reading this book. Danielle Jamie did an amazing job writing this story and making you fall in love with these characters. This is a perfect book for the summer reading, and such a beautiful story! A definite must read!

8 and 10 years old. That's when Lawson knew he had met the girl he was going to marry. Ten years later their engaged and in college.
Then it all changes with just once decision. Four friends lives are changed by one bad choice, an accident that everyone handles differently.
Soul mates. Torn apart by the ones deception. Heart broken and healing from an accident Emelyn heads home to regroup and start a new life, not the one she planned for and spends the next four years rebuilding her life.
Lawson has spent the past four years doing the same only he didn't have his friends around to help, he put distance between himself and everyone who reminded him of the tragic day that changed him forever.
Now Lawson and Emelyn are face to face for the first time since his heartless breakup with her.
Oh my, I just don't know where to start with this one. Mine Would Be You is a heartbreaking story of forgiveness and second chances and all the work it takes to achieve those things.
Emelyn was a very likeable character for me, mainly because she was strong and independant. She wasn't the whiny girl who needs saving I read way to much of! And Lawson, yes he's sex on a Harley but he's also pretty amazing. He has demons, ones that haunted him for so long but he manages to face them and come out on the other side a better man. Their story is one of truly never losing hope, even when you can't find it in yourself to continue to fight there's still that small ember of hope that smolders and just needs that spark to reignite it. I laughed, cried, cried some more and in the end was a teary, smiling mess. Mine Would Be You is a must read and if you've read anything by Danielle Jamie before you know you won't be disappointed.
Grab a box of tissues, a comfy chair and a cold drink because once you start this book your not going to be able to put it . Be prepared to go on an emotional rollercoaster ride. This book is a great love story. I love how Danielle gave us a look into the past to see how much Lawson loves Emelyn and what they went through. Wither it was a main character or supporting you will fall in love with each of the characters.
One night can change everything. Emelyn and Lawson are in college, they were madly in love, they were ready for the future together. But with one wrong decision leaves Emelyn heart broken and Lawson lost.
4 years later Emelyn and Lawson have to see each other at Lawson sister's and Emelyn best friends wedding. Will these two finally be able to talk and put things in the past? Will they see that although 4 years has happen that they love each other and can help each other heal and move on?
Danielle, I am at lost for words trying to give this review because you keep making it hard to truly describe your books and give them justice. I have read everyone of them and it seems that your stories just keep getting better and better. I can't wait to see what you write next.
Mine would be You is a second chance at love, Emelyn LaClaire and Lawson McCoy have a love that is so deep that even after the tragedy that struck them four years ago and saw them both go separate ways it still pulls at them. This book will switch between the present and the past giving you an insight into what happened before as these two have known each other for many years.
Emelyn hasn't seen Lawson since he walked out on her in her Sophomore year at Alabama University and she moved home to rebuild her life, however they are both about to come face to face for the first time for her best friend Delilah's wedding who just happens to be Lawson's sister.
Lawson has never stopped loving Emelyn and has to live with the guilt daily following his actions, he has managed to turn his life around and build himself a successful business but there is still something missing to make his life complete and that's Emelyn.
Can these two let go of the past and move forward together as they were destined as young kids or is there too much damage to move forward, go get your copy and find out you won't be disappointed. I for one am looking forward to the next book in this series.
Another beautiful book Danielle as usual your books keep on getting better and better

Mine Would Be You is a beautiful, sweet, sexy, emotionally charged angst filled second chance romance story that blew me away!
Soul mates since they were young. Engaged in college. Torn apart by one decision that has haunted them both ever since. Do you ever really get over that one person who is supposed to be your other half? I believe that there is more than one person out there for everyone but I cannot imagine what it would be like to lose one of those people and this story made me feel that heart wrenching, soul destroying pain. You know the pain that dims the light in your eyes…well Emelyn felt this pain and so did I.
They are finally reunited at Emelyn brother’s wedding and Lawson is the best man because he is Emelyn’s brother best friend. What a kick in the stomach to add to her already haunted past but now she has to face him at what should be a happy occasion.
What follows is a bumpy rollercoaster ride of emotion and tears that Danielle certainly knows how to bring to a story. You will love Lawson and Emelyn’s story!
I was given a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review. Reviewed by Tanya.
Mine Would be You is the beautifully sweet, sexy second chance at love story from Danielle, and honestly, this is now my favourite Danielle read!
I originally read the start of Lawson & Emelyn's in an anthology and was so happy that their story would be turned into a novel, for those of you that read the novella like me you'll love this!
The story is heartbreaking at times, I cried on and off throughout the whole bloody book! But what's amazing is how Danielle reconnects her characters while reconnecting your heart at the same time, making you fall in love with her characters yet again!
And as always Danielle ramps up the heat and brings the fire! Like Lawson is super hot...spine tingling panty melting hot!
I honestly can't write any more to really credit this beautiful sweet yet deliciously dirty book and do it justice. So I'll just finish by saying #oneclick! You won't regret it!
One thing is for sure, Mine Would Be You was a story that tugged my heart in so many directions, I didn't know if I was going to be able to survive it.
Emelyn and Lawson thought they had their happily ever after already mapped out, yet one wrong decision left them wondering…how could this have happened to them?
As I read their story, my heart broke for both of them because I could see the pain they were both going through. As they lived their lives apart one thing was for sure—they never stopped loving one another.
This was a fast-paced, emotional love story that pulled at my heart. To see this couple realize that, no matter how much time had passed, there was just no way that they could get over their First and Only True love. I loved seeing how this story played out and the limits Emelyn and Lawson would go to get back what they once had by not giving up. ~ Kara, 4 stars
This is Emelyn and Lawson’s story. This is a second chance love story. Emelyn has been in love with Lawson forever. They were together before but after a tragic event that love fell apart. Love turned to hate. Now they are forced to be together in a wedding party. Can they get through it without all the angry and bitter parts of the past coming out? Or should it finally come out so they can work their way back to each other? Will the road back to each other be hard, yes it will but in the end it will be worth all the bad to get back to all the great. This is an emotional story and will pull at your heartstrings. Make sure you have the tissues handy.
I loved these characters and also the side characters. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
I absolutely love boy meets and falls in love with girl stories. This was one of those. Danielle Jamie has a way of pulling the heartstrings of her readers until the end of the story, and even after. This book was one of those stories about soul mates that I'm always looking for. Lawson and Emelyn are a couple that the reader roots for. Their situations are real and can happen to anyone. Read this book. Fall in love. I did.
Wasn't my kind of book. I generally love second chance love books, but this wasn't the regular type. (contains spoilers) This is really about how the couple broke up after a drunk driving indecent, and years later trying to make things work. I read for escape, and this material was too heavy. It wasn't a bad book, but it just wasn't fun for me- so I'm not going to give it a rating.
Loved the story; it was different than all the other second chance love story. I liked how the author didn't follow the usual timelines of the HEA in most novels. I'll definitely be reading book 2 of this series and hopefully a novella about Emelyn & Lawson.
Loved loved loved Lawson and Ems story I would love to read more of them !!!! This love story spans 16 years through ups downs love and loss and you get an HEA what more could you ask for ???? This is my favorite Danielle Jamie book to date hope you enjoy this book as much as I did
Girls meets boy and they fall in love. Life happens and hearts break. They get a second chance at love years later. I enjoyed this story but felt like it took a long time to get to their story and then it was rushed. It's still worth the read.
