Hello, I am Francesca DragonSpire and I am a FREAK.
There, I said it. The first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem. So here it is. My parentals are raging morons and my grandfather says I am proof, talent skips a generation, but I digress, I was supposed to be a fledgling vampire when I transitioned. How surprised was I when I literally sprouted wings and scales along with my shinny new fangs. The vampire council hates creatures like me, they killed the last lot. We Changelings were created to defeat the Demon Lord Salomor. Kendra and Trion, two of the last Changelings destroyed him, though his hand still remained. Someone got their mitts on it and want to bring the Demon back. Hence, Changelings the sequel. I am kind of hoping to find a twelve step program for how to rid yourself of crazy fangers.
I have to say that this was a really good fun book to read. There were a couple of repetitive bits, but I think they were needed to tie things together to make it work. So I can't really mark it down a star! The world Frankie DragonSpire lives in is imaginative and interesting if you like dragons and a different view of vampires etc. It is actually quite refreshing to read a story like this. Beautifully written quirky and witty comments come flowing through the book as six students find themselves to be a part of something much bigger than they imagined. The attention to PTSD and how it can be debilitating to the sufferer was good to see being addressed. I think it deserves a nice big fat 5 star rating. I'm now going to read the second book Dragon Mage. I sincerely hope the flow and imaginative story flows on through further books in this series. Thank you A.K Smith for a lovely read!
Frankie DragonSpire is a vampire who has had a really difficult life up until the time she goes to live with her grandmother. Things really look up for Frankie when with her cousin Casper ( who also lives with her grandmother) go to a private school and meet up with four other vampires and the six of them become friends, unbeknown to them they make up the original six strongest vampiric families in history, from then on things only get more exciting. I highly recommend this book, it's light, funny and extremely entertaining.
