Saw Bears #7

Lumberman Werebear

Rate this book
Haydan Walker is perfectly content as the only remaining bachelor in the Ashe Crew. Sure, his crew seems happy, but his bear is different and has no urge to find a mate. So when one of the Gray Backs begs him to claim his sister, Haydan’s instinct is to run as far away as he can. Cassie Belle isn’t taking no for an answer, though, and Haydan is about to find out the little sexy-as-hell, smart-mouthed hellion is toting some serious baggage.

Cassie is no pushover. She knows what she wants, and she patiently hunts until she gets it. And right now, she wants Haydan to claim her so she’ll be under the protection of the giant, tatted-up, steely-eyed bad boy bear shifter. She’ll be the perfect mate—friends with benefits—and she’ll be sure to leave her emotions at the door. It’s a solid plan until Haydan shows her how different life could be if she’d only let someone in.

Change is hard, and facing her past even harder, but if she can allow Haydan to help, Cassie just might find the sanctuary she’s been searching for.

Content Warning: explicit love scenes, naughty language, and piles of sexy shifter secrets.

You know when you are reading a romance and the couple is acting like idiots and determined to not let the other "touch their heart" or whatever, and you wonder how long this crap is going to go on before they have their "breakthrough"?

Well, in this series things move so fast that the answer to that question is usually just a paragraph or two. It's great for people with short attention spans like me. I'm getting old, my mind wanders. I don't have time to read hundreds of pages of angsty feelings. My time is valuable. So, this series is perfect.

The couple, Hayden and Cassie, are driving along in the car, after meeting minutes ago, and playing all these little power mind games on each other, and it looks like they will be tough nuts to crack. But, within a couple of pages they are declaring their undying love and mated for life, etc... Quick resolution! If only more things could be resolved this quickly. I'm thinking if this author went over to the Middle East, we could have peace in the region by New Year's.

Yeah, she couldn't do any worse than our usual methods.

This trailer park is officially full now. It's time to move on to a different trailer park in the woods where there are new single, hunky werebears that are looking for love.

We ready. Bring on the bitches!

This bear shifter story is a romance, but the start is pretty rocky. The hero is the last male bear in the crew of lumberjacks. He doesn't want a mate. But, a lady bear needs protection, so he is asked to mate her and he offers to protect her.
The heroine has a past that has damaged her emotionally. Bad things happened in her childhood, and people she was with as an adult made things pretty bad, too. So, she doesn't really know how to be around normal people (are bear shifters normal?) and that makes it hard for her to open up.
She has a sex addiction, sort of, in that she uses sex to avoid emotions and bad feelings. Her protector helps her to accept affection, and they become close. She also has a chance to meet some people who rescued her when she was a child, so that helps, too.
I really liked the main characters, and the story was really well-written. A very good romance.

Last book of the saw bear series!! I have loved re reading this series.... so, this book was Hayden && Cassie ❤ I didn't know what to expect from Hayden as he wasn't mention too much in the other books! But of course, I wasn't disappointed. The way he was there for Cas from the start was heart warming but also heart breaking seeing Cas struggle from her past.. we get to know and understand Matt alot more. His character has been on a right journey from the first book.. and guess what, there is a spin off series with Matt and the other crews!!

Oh wow ! I loved this one so damn much <3 Haydan was perfect, strong, patient and flirty. Cas was an emotional mess who hid behind sarcasm and sex. Where Haydan is warm, Cas is cold, but he slowly coaxed warmth out of her. I love a story that starts with one person telling the other not to "fall in love with them" because you just know it's going to happen and it's going to be beautiful. I am sad to see the Ashe Crew series end but excited to get to know the Gray Back Bears! 4.5/5 ⭐

"We're stuck together now, princess, for better or worse."

"Inside of him, his bear relaxed even more. The beast was practically purring as he watched his mate sleep in his den."

"Haydan was too good for her by a lot, but maybe if she tried hard enough, for long enough, she could be okay for him. She could be okay for her."

"Life didn't travel in a straight line. It curved wherever it wanted to. Her winding path had just taken a few extra loops and zigzags to get here, to this moment, to the exact place she belonged."

"Her sensitive, patient, immovable mate. He'd filled the dark corners of her life with light and gave her the strength to chase away her demons."

it was a nice book with a nice conclusion nit only the book itself but also for the whole series of our Lumbermen and their mates in their trailers and awesome games over dixie cup of wine box.

so each book a story, Sad, abuse and definitely HEA. This one was also sad but more into the caring, coping mechanism and also closing the loop with The Twins's help.

but it was so easy, fate with the men came easily so maybe that was the reason this one wasn't in my favorite but still I can't fault this book and its own ending.

I have to say I was wrong about not wanting to read this series. it was just more than enough with great amd emotional plot.

Lumberman Werebear by T.S Joyce was a quick read.

Hayden is a sexy AF bear who doesn't want to be mated, but when Matt comes and ask for him to claim Cassie his life gets turned upside down. Cassie is lost and doesn't want to be found. She is content to just get by with sex only. As long as no emotions are formed.

Can Hayden break down Cassie's carefully created walls she built around her heart??

The last of the Saw Bears series...they've all got mates now :D

Hayden and Cassie both approached mating with a kind of cool detachment. It doesn't take long for Hayden to realise that Cassie needs his help.

That little piggy is sooo cute!

Lumberman Werebear

This is the last book in this Ashe Crew series. I've enjoyed the interaction of the characters and the crossing over with the Breck Crew. We've been set up nicely for Matt's redemption arc which is the next book in the timeline.

The MFC has been severely traumatized and it was interesting to watch the MMC provide her a space to break the self destructive behaviors she was addicted to. Honestly, this is the basis for the most positive of relationships,

“The more time she spent alone with Haydan, the more she liked him, and the more she liked herself.”

Another awesome story from T. S. Joyce! I have loved every story in this wonderful series !! Well written and interesting, with deep thought filled characters, and hot sex, this will be hard to put down. The wonderful characters are the cornerstone of this series !! Here we have Cassie, a bear without a pack, and Haydan, who's not looking for a mate. Her brother Matt arranges for Haydan to take her in with his Ashe Crew and protect her from Carl, her ex Alpha, who is cruel. Haydan and Cassie are wonderful. She's fights their relationship, but finds out what she knew about people was all wrong. Haydan is awesome, sweet, and hot. Two guys in the crew have a connection to Cassie and her brother. Cas learns compassion, acceptance and true love. I love all of these great people, their emotional friendships, deep love and accepting natures. Highly recommend this story. ENJOY !!!

Awwww... Sniff.... I hate the Ashe Crew Saw Bears is Over...

Well, if you love Bears, and lumberjacks, fun loving men, curvy strong women and people living, laughing and supporting each other you HAVE to read a T. S. Joyce book. Her Saw Bears, Fire Bears and other bear series are excellent!! I've lived reading every book and can't wait for the coming soon spin off series about a Brown Bear that is the adopted brother of the heroine in this book and friend to the hero in this book. Hustle off between now and then and grab handfuls of T.S. Joyce's other books to read and catch up!! Very thoroughly enjoyable!!!

Another great read!

While this series has been about the Ashe crew, this book is more about Cassie and her past connection with the crew. This was an emotional rollercoaster but so worth the ride!

Loved the surprise after the book; exactly what I was hoping it would be! As always thank you for being a KU author!

This had so much potential but it was too rushed and too short for everything to be covered effectively. I think had there been more time spent on this, it would easily have been a 4 star.

This book was definitely darker and grittier than all the past ones.

I truly liked Haydan. The male main character for this book was probably the one I least noticed in previous installments but the one who got me better in his own book, showing a lot of personality, spine, backstory and relate-ability. Throughout the book he uses lessons he learned from his tough past to improve his relationship and to help the main female lead. Even showing maturity when it came to acceptimg his feelings rather than denying them (which he would've had good reason to do) and acknowledging what that meant for him and Cassie. Making me see him as the real deal, a good guy and the most interesting character in this saga, so far.

Cassie was another thing I (sort of) liked in the book. There's a lot of drama and darkness in her background and the more you learn about her; the more she says that gives all that away, the more repulsed or compelled you are, I was a little bit of both. I have to give kudos this time, for how her psychological issues were handle, specially her mal-adaptive copying mechanisms. A LOT better than in previous books, and, although I'm unsure about how some things were left out by the end I felt her psychological journey was very well handled, acknowledging the difficulties she had to live through but demanding she work through them, I liked that. Something I didn't like was how some aspects of this was portrayed. Psychological damage to a person during their younger formative years affects them always in particular ways, very clear ways, specially when we talk about repetitive, long term abuse. This was done better with Kellen, for example, with how he has issues socializing but that didn't appear at all with Cassie, her trauma only showed when it was about sexual relations and something strictly, strongly and directly related to the specific trauma she lived. This bothered me because I would really hate for her trauma to have been used purely as a plot device to get her to be promiscuous or sexually abusive to herself.

Anyway. I think their relationship moved along the story very well. It didn't feel forced or faked, it felt appropriate specially taking into account the heaviness of the topics discussed between them. And how they connect and "fall in love" was actually sweet in a sad yet powerful way because of those dark themes. It wasn't perfect, it relied a lot in the instant-attraction/love thing TS Joyce works with, but it was still very good.

Some other things about the story were nice to read, like the micro pig thing. I'm not a fan of pigs, I find them disgusting but the addition of this "character" to the story made Haydan even more relatable and sweet, vulnerable and lovable, and along with his relationship with the "cubs" in the crew it made his transition from bachelor to mated believable and meaningful.

There was also a closure to a dark themed topic that was used several times in different books, as a running back story of sorts that included several characters and the evil entity IESA and in difference to the way this was handled in the Fire Bears saga, this ending felt earned and powerful. I liked how the dots were connected, how comments previously given but dismissed made an impact to the present story and how characters reacted to finding out the truth, to the big reveal and how later they all dealt with the aftermath. It made the story real, true, not just "that's in our past" or "yeah someone said something about that in the last book". Which made this book, as an ending to the Saw Bears saga all the better.

I thought about giving this book a 3 star ranking but all things considered I'll give a 4 instead, for lack of a 3.5 which would be more accurate. Anyway. I don't recommend the saga, but this book, this book is worth the read. A nice way to finish a series that got me a lot more disappointed than satisfied. I'm finally done!! Yeah!!

No. Just No.

You want me to love a character ?
You want me to connect with a character? Then you need to give me time to really get to know them. To live w/them . Time to marinate in who the really are. Not the shallow superficial and artificial shell your present us with in the beginning.
Cassie starts off soo F’ed up,and selfish it’s down right pathetic. And yet this deeply messed up and selfish Bis making demands while she’s practically forcing herself on to poor Hayden.
Btw Hayden if he hadn’t been mentioned before and hadn’t been a background player in other stories he’d barely have registered here for me. Hayden was mainly a mixture of some nice guy fluff for Cassie the selfish mess to bounce off of .
Some how after just two days of being around her lane messed A,trying to give her using him as a faceless F buddy as her drug of choice ,she’s almost completely cured suddenly and their dropping “I Love you’s “ 😍 like it’s valentines and they’ve known each other for more than two days .
WTH?!?!?!
Even if this was a world they actually acknowledged “fated mates” as a thing w/a look or a sniff or a kiss, two days Soo wouldn’t be enough. Especially not w/this kinda baggage .
This chick is dragging the kinda bags the “Kardashians “ might take on a world 🌍 Cruise 🚢 but it’s handled like an episode of a sitcom where everything is resolved within 30 minutes . Cue laughter 😂 soundtrack.
Giving a character a sad background doesn’t make them deep,or excuse their awful and messed up,selfish behavior . Period . Full Stop. But especially when your just throw everything out there and gloss over it all in the last few moments of the book followed by a sex scene and then an epilogue to tie everything up in a nice little bow .
I know too often these stories are just weird broken jagged pieces of semi emotional fluff but Ms. Joyce we can all see you have a talent and a gift here for creating interesting characters that keep ppl wanting to know more,I just wish you’d give us more depth and more diverse stories .
Or just not try at all .
No offense but stories like this feel 1/2 A’ed. Like your heart wasn’t really in it l Maybe you should have waited and came back for poor Hayden when your heart for kids into it .
He deserved a better story and a 100 % better mate.

Ps. In the epilogue it says Riley needed Cassies help in the coming months because she and Drew were expecting. Yet in the book where the characters from “Damon’s Mountains “ family tree is mentioned No child is listed w/Drew and Riley.
Soo important enough to try and round out the epilogue and help crappy ole Cassie look more needed by someone but not important enough to be remembered or named .
Yeah.
I’d obey sad read for sake of continuity but as I’ve just pointed out that’s not really all that important though. Personally I think you could skip this book and enjoy the rest of the series just fine.

What Is It About:
Hayden is the last bachelor left in Ashe Crew and isn't particularly sad about it. But he's tricked, and wooed into a relationship with Cassie, who needs protection from her old backwoods crew. But Cassie has her own demons to fight and they hit closer to home for the Ashe Crew than anyone realises.

What I Liked and Didn't:
This was certainly my least favourite book of the Saw Bears Series, and tied for the series as a whole so far. Hayden was a meh kind of character that I can't remember a single defining feature of. With Cassie, I liked her at the start when she was babbling in Hayden's car, but then my opinion turned. Her whole "Sex as a coping mechanism" just completely turned me off her, it just seemed so ridiculous and was fixed so quickly. I would have preferred it if it had either no existed at all or if it were considered a sex addiction because, from the description, that#s probably what is was so the fact it was solved through love just irked me.
Plot-wise, none existent. Even the link that Cassie has with Dennison and Brighton was mentioned a couple of times to explain her weirdness and that was it. There wasn't much else other than how Hayden can "fix" her.

Final Thoughts:
I didn't particularly care about either of the main characters nor the plot. It's only my interest in the series and my investment in the characters that makes this an enjoyable read.
Would I recommend it? Not in it's own right.
Will I be carrying on the series? I'm a little cautious about Matt's story since he was a massive dick to Danielle but I'm interested in seeing how he's redeemable and who he's mate eventually is.

This is the seventh book in this series and they should be read in order. Hayden is the last bachelor werebear in the Ashe Crew. He isn’t looking for a mate either. He likes his life just as it is. Then one-night Matt from the Gray Back crew asks him to claim his sister, Cassie. No way does Hayden want to claim this girl. Cassie isn’t taking no for an answer. She needs the protection Hayden and the Ashe crew can provide. She wants a no strings attached mating, what guy wouldn’t agree to that. But just like the rest of his crew Hayden is different. He may not have wanted this claiming but he isn’t going to just let Cassie continue to hurt. He is going to show her it can be different. He is going to help her get over the past she is running from. He is going to help her the only way he knows how, by loving her. Cassie wants to hate Hayden so badly, but he won’t let her. He shows her it doesn’t have to be the way it was in her past. She had a mate before but he died. Cassie’s past intertwines with some of the other Ashe crews past as well. Things are about to get very interesting for the Ashe crew. I can’t say enough about this series. I have fallen in love with all the people in the Ashe crew. I hope to get to read about them in some of T.S. Joyce’s other books. I know her series all kind of go together. I can’t wait to start reading the next series by her.

Haydan ♥ Cassie!

This is book #7 of #7 in the Saw Bears Series, and book #10 of #48 in the Damon’s Mountains Universe Series.

This is the last book in the Saw Bears Series, but not the last time we will see the Ash Crew. As a segway to the Gray Back Series, which is what’s next, this is a cross over. Haydan is the last single bear standing in his Crew, but is not interested in following his fellow crew members. This is one of the reasons Matt, from the Gray Back Crew approaches him for a favor. He is the one I mentioned earlier that you shouldn’t hate cause you would feel bad about it later. Well those feels start now.

Cassie is Matt’s sister, and he wants Haydan to claim her as his mate, even if it is in “name” only, since he doesn’t ever intend to take a mate anyway. The Ashe crew would give Cassie the best protection against her previous clan. Having a direct link to Damon, who is a big fire breathing dragon, doesn’t hurt either.

Matt and Cassie have links to the Ashe that no one realized until she takes up residence at 1010. It’s good, with lots of feels. I won’t spoil it, but it is sooo good! I had tears.

T.S. Joyce and Mackenzie Harte will continue the partnership into the next series. I am still in and can’t wait.

I listened to this through Audible Escape. (you have until Nov. 01, 2020)

Wonderful Gift!!!

Haydan Walker was feeling trapped and he didn't know how to get over such feeling, him along with the rest of the Ashe Crew were finally coming out to the public and he held Matt Burns responsible for them having to that step.

Inspite of their constant nagging each other, Matt needed Haydan's help in protecting his little sister a black bear shifter from forcibly been claimed by her crew's new alpha after must reluctance Haydan finally agreed to help Matt out when he found Cassie in his truck.

Cassia Lisa Belle aka Cassie lost her mate in an alpha challenge, and the new leader gave her a year to moun......the year was coming to an end so her brother went out of his way to keep her safe even if she had to get claimed by the Ashe Crew's bachelor Haydan.

Cassie had it back with her previous mate, she wasn't looking for love and neither was Haydan but it still snuck up on them, it knocked them off their feet.

OMG the reunion between Brighton, Cassie and Denison was well done and very emotional....Cassie found her home with the Ashe Crew, she had her mate, her rescuers and a family.

Once again T. S. Joyce did a magnificent job.

I really enjoyed this installment in the Saw Bears series. Definitely ended the series on a high note for me.

Cassie is the sister of Matt from the Grey Backs. Her mate was killed in an alpha fight, and rather than being claimed by the new alpha, her brother rescues her and brings her to Hayden. He wants Hayden to claim her in order to keep her safe.

Cassie has a hella lot of issues stemming from a childhood of abuse. And although Hayden initially turns down Matt's request to save his sister, he changes his mind and decides that he is the perfect one to help her heal.

Just like the rest of the books in the series, Joyce does a great job of making the relationship between the MCs feel real and believable even though they aren't together long. Cassie's backstory is darker than the rest of the heroines in the series, but I think it's handled really well, especially in such a short book. And Hayden was just yummy wonderful!

Novella-length bear shifter romance.

This is a simple yet beautiful story. As a fated mate story, the romance moves quickly with little to no angst. The plot balances quiet moments and dramatic events, but never do these overwhelm or underwhelm the story being told between the couple.

Book Specific Info:
I felt compared with the other books in this series, I didn't know much about Hayden from his roles in the other books. Other members of the Ashe Crew were highlighted in a way that made me invested in the story. The heroine, Cassie, also didn't get the background that she needed. Since the story starts from Hayden's perspective being approached from Matt, I was playing catchup the entire time of Hayden and Cassie's personality, motivations, and how that applied to the relationship. I disliked the conflict throughout since it surrounded Cassie's problematic relationship with sex. Overall, the least successful book in the series in my opinion.

Warning: Dealing with grief and past abuse.

Lumberman Werebear is book 7 and the final book in the Saw Bears series. All of the Ashe Crew members have now found their mates.

This is Haydan’s and Cassie’s story. Cassie is the stepsister of Matt from the Gray Back crew. Matt asks Haydan to claim Cassie to protect her from the alpha of the crew she was in who killed her mate in a challenge. Haydan is a super nice guy and I had a hard time seeing he and Cassie together at first. Once she opens up about her past, I liked her better. However their connection still didn’t feel very strong. The story just fell kinda flat.

Since this was the last book in the series, I had hoped for an epilogue or something to let us know how all the couples are doing and bring closure to the series. That didn’t happen.

I enjoyed this book. Not as much as some of the others in the series, but I still liked it. Part of the reason I didn't like it as much was that I had waited so long between books to get to this one. I had forgotten some of the events in the previous books and was a little lost at times as to what was happening. However, this was a good wrap up to the Saw Bears series and lead into a new series. I'll definitely continue on and I won't wait as long between reads this time!

Brilliant

I was pulled into the story right from the beginning and stayed there until I had finished it, all the while watching the mini movie that was going on in my head.
There are surprises awaiting you throughout the pages of this book, some you may see coming others you won't, but they all aide in making this a fantastic story.
Each book in this series has gotten better. I can't believe I have read the whole series already.
Shifter fans, if you haven't read these books, you might want to give them a go.
I have noticed they are on audible so I will be getting them on that.
