Inspired by the human struggle for survival, DIVIDE THEN CONQUER is an epic American series exploring what it means to face an unknown enemy while confronting social and cultural mores that no longer work in a world that has been torn apart.
It is late summer 2014, and a mysterious virus threatens to overtake the entire human race. The only chance for survival rests in the hands of a motley crew of courageous, diverse foot soldiers who must band together to overcome the evil forces that are multiplying at an alarming rate.
Covert CIA operatives, a tragic, enigmatic orphan, peaceniks, military leaders, politicians, and militias face off in a world distorted by waves of human panic and unending zombie invasions. Who will remain when the last war ends?
DIVIDE THEN CONQUER, the first book in the Zombie Company Crusade Series, introduces readers to an eclectic mix of crusaders, all fighting to survive the zombie apocalypse—and sometimes, their own dark impulses.
J.L. Koszarek came to New Orleans in 1986 and has lived in the river region ever since. The winds and water of hurricane Katrina ravaged the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and wider river region on August 29, 2005 taking with it her home and everything in it, including her first novel, a nearly finished paranormal historical romance. This loss and four-year full-time migration to the Sangre De Cristo Mountain Range in Northern New Mexico left her without a sense of place and unable to rewrite the lost story.
For the author, life before the storm was a kind of fiction because much of what physically existed no longer does. Her work reflects the pain and confusion she experienced during her search for a new way in a new world, a fictional avenue that takes her home.
Koszarek's work encompasses a wide-range of fiction genres from paranormal and contemporary romance to dystopian adventures, but always reflects a style and literary flair that recognizes the histrionics behind each character and their circumstances.
She lives in Angel Fire, New Mexico and Pass Christian, Mississippi.
I wasn't sure what to expect going into this book, with TV shows & movies out there focusing their plots on zombies, I was in the market for something with more depth, Divide Then Connquer did not let me down. The enemy is the zombies, the zeds, or mutants as they are referred as by different characters throughout the book, who are scary and sometimes unstoppable due to their strength in numbers. But on multiple fronts throughout the country there is a different enemy lurking, plotting, & attempting to implement their own agendas almost as if the world isn't ending. Being a fan of political thrillers, such as Vince Flynn's Mitch Rapp series & Brad Thor's Scott Harvath books, I very much enjoyed these characters and their efforts to remain relavent. My curiousity has me wondering how and where these characters will go in the future and at the same time I'm very much curious how the epidemic will be dealt with or if it will be dealt with at all. One thing is for sure, I'm hooked & will be tuning in to book 2 as soon as it is released. Definitely a must read and 5 star worthy.
Divide Then Conquer is a compilation of (individually released) Parts 1-6 of The Zombie Company Crusade Series. I have gotten all of the parts individually but had to get the complete Book 1: Divide Then Conquer :) each part of Divide Then Conquer are GREAT and having the all together in one book is even better! This book is The Walking Dead meets Game of Thrones. Divide Then Conquer has awesome character development and gives a cool perspective on the political and cultural cleavages which exist in America today, using the zombie apocalypse as a catalyst to express the variety of people and ideologies that America has to offer. Don't get caught up on expecting something to happen... this books has constant twists and turns that will shock you as well as make it impossible to put down!
