On Avilon Not Even the Truth Will Set You Free . . .
The Real Enemy is Within Omnius has been hiding a lot from the people of Avilon. The war with the Sythians is not what we thought, but that raises the question: if not the Sythians, then what did Omnius go to fight in the Getties Cluster? Humanity is Being Held Prisoner Omnius knows what people will do before they do it. He predicts citizens' behavior, and some suspect, he even makes those predictions come true. For those who wish to be free of his influence, Avilon's lowermost city, the crime-ridden, shadow-filled Null Zone is the only option, but it is becoming increasingly apparent that not even the Nulls are free, and there is a more sinister reason behind The Choosing than the one Omnius gave. As Omnius's predictions begin to come true, Ethan Ortane realizes he could lose the one thing that matters most to him in the universe--his family. There is a Rebellion Stirring Far from Avilon, the Sythians are hiding out in the neighboring Getties Cluster. Out there they discover something that wasn't supposed to exist: a group of human rebels that escaped from Avilon. Their leader, Therius, seems to raise more questions than he answers, but he has a plan to defeat Omnius that just might work. And the End is Drawing Near As Therius's plan unfolds, people realize the terrible truth: he can't win by conventional means, and he knows it. The alternative is called the Armageddon Protocol, but it could mean the end of everything, not just Omnius. . . .

Ultimately I liked this book and I must say it was tough going at times! I got a little confused by all the clones! I stuck with it because I do so like the main character of Ethan Ortane. There was much philosophizing which I got a bit tired of but hey, that's the author's prerogative. I appreciate that authors explore many themes and that's the beauty of writing. I will continue to read Jasper T Scott.
The final entry of author Jasper T. Scott’s Dark Space series opens with a list of dramatis personae that includes human clones of characters from prior entries, and thus, one can find difficult keeping track of who is the original and who is the replicant. The main events open eleven years AE (After Exodus to Dark Space), and twelve years since the original Sythian invasion of the galactic sector, with Destra Heston imprisoned alongside her daughter Atta, with a Gor named Torv aiding their escape from captivity. One month later, Farah Hale flies the spaceship Baroness, having once served as a Peacekeeper in god-figure Omnius’s fleet, when Sythians attack her.
Meanwhile, in the Null Zone, the “netherworld” of the planet Avilon, Ethan Ortane, having served as primary protagonist for most of the franchise’s predecessors, is a taxi driver, interacting with Admiral Vee, the leader of a resistance against Omnius. Back to Farah, she ultimately finds herself alongside Destra and her daughter, while Destra’s other child, Atton Ortane, makes it his intent to marry a woman named Ceyla, much to her family’s disdain. In Etheria, Strategian Hoff Heston and his companion Galan Rovik make a living attempting to prevent future crimes, among them being an attempted suicide.
One month later, Destra wakes on the birth-world of humanity, Origin, and some detail the author gives about the reproduction of the Gor species. Occasional time skips occur, with Ethan and Alara’s daughter Trinity aging several years, and certain events driving a wedge between the couple. Ethan himself becomes commander of a fleet, and loyalties constantly waver between Omnius and those who resist him. The epilogue occurs one month after the main events of the book, focusing on another life-changing event that the author indicates in his afterword leads to a sequel series.
All in all, the final Dark Space book definitely does have many things going for it, such as its decent sci-fi action and commentary on things such as human cloning and religion, although the latter subject the author somewhat takes over the edge, with the narrative centered on the replication of certain luminaries, although the question of whether the series occurs in our universe or a parallel one Scott does resolve within the latter portion of the novel. Although I did enjoy most of the earlier entries of the Dark Space series, it somewhat loses its luster later on, and I’ll definitely hesitate to read whatever prequel and sequel series the author has produced.
The finale to Dark Space had so many twists and turns, it was hard to decide who to root for and who to dislike. What was the truth and what were the lies. Jasper, I feel really went all out with the finale and it ended with a bang. Of course what drew me so deep into this story we’re the characters that we followed along this journey and their potential outcomes. Love triangles were formed, especially when it came to Ethan Ortane and I always wondered throughout this series if he would stay with Alara, end back up with Destra or Miss Admiral Vee of the resistance. Not to mention, Atton’s quest for love and whether it would work. Would everyone be able to live the rest of their lives with the ones they were meant to be with? Would Avilon continue to exist under the control of Ominous and who was this AI god really?
Coming to book 6, I had so many questions which were all answered and as much as I did not want this series to end, I could not wait to finish it. I know this may not be a true review of the story but if you can make it through the first book, hopefully you can become as emotionally invested in the characters that were there in the beginning Andrew those that came and left as we reached the conclusion.
I really, really enjoyed reading these books. I wasn't so sure about them when I started however I quickly became hooked. The writing is intense and keeps you reading and the story is so clever it's amazing. This book and book five were also quite philosophical about life and freedom which was another interesting twist.
Everything comes to its conclusion in this book and you won't be disappointed. Well worth the read.
If you're looking for a decent set of books to read these are highly recommend. Brilliant.
I stayed up until 2 a.m. last night reading the last of this book. What a wild ride this was, too. Sometimes I was confused with whatever iteration of the person was that was in a particular scene. And things moved along so quickly that you had to be careful not to get whiplash. I loved the conclusion to the series but you really had to pay attention to who was now living where. I have already downloaded the next trilogy about Dark Space by Jasper T Scott and can't wait to get started. I see more late nights in my future.
Author Jasper T. Scott is a true artist with a great imagination. Right from book one his unpredictable twists caught you totally unready and as he kept going it got better and better with twists in twists, truly an amazing masterpiece. And choosing William Dufris to narrate was a perfect choice, his narration was dead on !
Absolutely, Without a doubt, I fully recommend, This series for all !!!
This 6th book is really long. It's good, but just know that sometimes it feels like it will not end. I enjoyed it but there were some places where I just wanted to skip ahead. I didn't because I was afraid I might miss something important to the plot. Mr Scott's books are very readable, but this one could have been a bit shorter and just as good. I do Recommend it.
Riveting in its own way. Also quite confusing in others! Each book makes you want to read the next but trying to follow all the various twists and turns might give you a headache! Stick to the end and most answers are there. But not all! Written by someone with an incredible imagination!
Overall it was a good book and a nice ending to the series. For me there was too much of the debate of life after death and do we have souls, it's a good point but it's been really Beat to Death In This Book and the one before it. Plus it became confusing towards the end with so many versions of the characters out there and everybody changing their alliances.
The last book got me all twisted up but he got it untwisted at the end, thank goodness. But I'm not sure the new god is any better than the old one. He needs to write another to get rid of the last false god.
Enjoyable overall, due to the twists & turns in the plot. I found some of the characters shallow & annoying (eg Ethan) but the overall plot held it together. Would have been 5 stars with better characters.
A satisfying conclusins to the Dark Space series. A bit confusing in spots due to multiple clones of people running around, but that's probably just me. Like the rest of the series, this was very readable amd I plowed through it quickly.
An enjoyable series, although the earlier books were more exciting and fun to read. All the known races in the galaxies are descended from humans? A bit of hubris there, don't you think?
The final part in this great space opera does not disappoint it's epic in everyway. With monumental space battles and finally the true about the Immortals and mankind is revealed. A true page turner which is face paced and an incredible read
This Space opera has a marvelously convoluted storyline with excellent characters. The storytelling and imagination of wordsmith Jasper T. Scott shines in this epic tale. I highly recommend it and sincerely hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
I was excited to read this book, but at first I thought it was not going to turn out good, but all was good. I look forward to continue reading series from Jasper Scott.
In prior reviews of earlier books in this series I used comments like: "Blown Away", Breathless", "Surprised", etc.. All of these still apply to Book Six and I'll add Shocked, Disappointed, Sad, Glad and Angry but all in a good way. This book will draw you in and evoke all kinds of emotion; it's much more than entertaining, it's Stimulating. I also found myself asking which is better; doing the Right thing for the Wrong reason OR, doing the Wrong thing for the Right reason? I've finally decided (I think???) the Wrong thing can't be good. And (I think???) the Right thing for the Wrong reason is like "THE ENDS JUSTIFY THE MEANS" which we all know (???) is not good (??? I think) There are so many twists and turns you'll be sure and not sure what to think. This is NOT a "Cozy-Beach" read and you'll have to think while reading this book(Gasp). I enjoyed this series so much I'm about to put aside all other reading material and read this again starting with book one. I've done this with several James Michener, Stephen King and Tom Clancy books and I expect this second reading will be even more enjoyable (and all the other emotions mentioned above) than the first reading. I've already recommended this to my three daughters who are working professionals with families because I believe it will be worth their limited time. Oh, yours as well. Review by "THE HOLEY ONE"
I loved the first 4 books of the serie. Great plot, wonderful characters, simply OMG sometimes!
I had more troubles with the 5, Avilon, as the plot and the rythm was different from the first books. I loved the story anyway but I was lost as some point because it was a real twist in the storyline.
For this book, I have great troubles to explain what I feel about it.
It is a great book as the other. Beautifully written, great plot, amazing characters. That was great to read.
But... at some point, I get lost... All the Omnius-Therius's thing was sometimes difficult to understand for me, particularly as english is not my birth language and so I probably didn't grasp every hint of the story.
But I really loved the end of the story and of the serie.
As I just finished the 6th book I can say that has been an amazing journey thru the saga, Im a SciFi fan and this was epic! I loved it since book 1, loved the twits in the story from top to bottom, I wish there was more stories to read about the characters about their future life, however admit that the ending was well deserved, I have to say that the way Jasper writes kept me hocked since the beginning since Brondy rises as Crime Lord, I have to say I hated him, till Therius reveal himself to everyone. The was an amazing saga and I will check on the other books written by Jasper T Scott because Dark Space Saga was very complex, entertained and simply a great story
If you have gotten this far in the dark space series, then you are going to finish it right? I loved and hated the ending, because it is an ending, and no more from this series will be written. The action is paced well. Editing is excellent. Twists and turns you don't see coming are plentiful, as are the ones you do see coming. Thats what made this book, and the series so fulfilling. I don't give out spoilers, nor do I reveal plot details, because that will take away from your enjoyment of the book. Read it, you will not be disappointed.
The sixth and final book in the Dark Space series and the fight for Avilon reaches its conclusion. As Omnius continues to rule with an iron fist, taking freedom of choice from humanity. A new group is building its forces, led by the mysterious Therius, who brings humans, Sythians and Gors together in a new union, to take on Omnius. This is a very good book and keeps the high standards set in the previous five. With so many twists and turns, you are never fully sure who is right or wrong between Omnius and Therius!!
