Teach Me to Kneel - by Saakael: For me this book comes in three parts. In the early stages I have a bit of a struggle with the D/s relationships being presented. That is all on me as I do not write but live the life. So my head has certain expectations. I did message with Saakael and they write. It helped me get over my hump and I was beginning to enjoy the story. I found it engaging and humorous. I fell in love with the characters. I looked at the character Mira the Dominatrix much differently. I began to see Vivian as just a newbie brat trying and fighting about being a submissive. Yay team. I hit Chapter 17 pushing 4 stars. Then it happened. So not to put spoilers in the review I broke up several sentences and ... my way through them. (Please read them) … Than exact pain at her right breast …moaning into the gag, … pinching the nipple between finger and thumb. This is where it all settled into place. Those couple of lines turned the corner and it became a full 5 stars after that. No spoilers just read it is worth it. I am devastated it is not longer but hey in S&M or BDSM we should expect pain. 5.2 stars and good job Saakael.
Again, as with his previous story 'Her Book, My Rules' this author has allowed me to read this story, and it's on this basis that i submit this review. Although i'm obviously on 'good terms' with this particular author, i must stress that i don't know him personnally, i have never met him 'in the fresh,' as it were, and it's extrememy unlikely that i ever will. In fact, i only know him as 'Saakael' as i don't even know his given name. Be assured then, i would NEVER post an untrue review, if i genuinely didn't like any work i would say so, or i probably wouldn't say anything in the public domain, possibly just giving the person who submitted it my own private thoughts as to where i think they went wrong.
With that in mind, i'm perfectly happy to state that this work had me held in a state of total captivation from start to finish. Obviously, with not revealing too many details of the central 'plot' in mind, it revolves around an American woman aged around thirty, who holds a position within that nation's embassy in Paris, France. Having previously 'dabbled' into the world of B.D.S.M. but to no realistic degree, she agrees to meet a 'professional' dominatrix, who services are advertised on-line. Once they meet, it becomes utterly clear that our American friend is totally inexperienced, but fully willing to learn and becomes completely immersed.
Thing is though, there's a lot more to 'Mistress' than mets the eye, and so the pupil becomes more and more sucked in to the other's world. There follows a 'whirlwind' of events involving elements of French high society, where our heroine is introduced to whole new concepts, proving herself to be quite high-spirited and rather impetuous, possible exposing herself and needing to be 'recused' by her Mistress. Who is deeply invoved in an entirely different situation, involving a 'circle,' which is both well established and posseses real power.
The characters of the story are beautifully introduced and described, especially the 'wrong uns,' let's face it who can resist a good villain, and the plot flows extremely well, never seeming to go 'stale' or appear false. And, believe me, there are quite a few impressive 'twists' in the tale, events occuring which are definately not predictable and are utterly delightful.
All in all, as i previously stated, i found this story to be superb from start to finish, and would have no hestitation in thoroughly recommending that one should read it. I wasn't dis-appointed in any way, and i'm confident that neither will you be.
I really loved the characters and the overall plot of the story. I told myself that I would finish until 130 and ended up finishing the whole book because I needed to know what was going on in the story. Thank you Saakael for this ARC copy. I have really enjoyed this book and I can't wait for your series. This was an amazing book for a debut novel. I learned so much about BDSM and the process along with the characters. These characters were so unhinged and there were several laughable moments in there. Overall, I would read it again if my memory was wiped.
Absolutely frustrating in the best way possible. The entire book leaves you itching for more. More information, more drama, more everything. This book combined with the other book in the Saarverse that's out so far-Her Book, My Rules- is both filling in a lot of gaps in the mystery but every tiny piece of drama adds a million more questions. Get ready for a completely entertaining, thrilling ride. Also, the comedic bits? Absolutely hilarious. Honestly, just a great read to add to my collection. Completely recommend.
