Jim da una mirada profunda a las razones del por que hay gente que tiene exito y otra no. El cubre los componentes claves para el filosofia, actitud, actividad, resultados y estilo de vida.
Emanuel James "Jim" Rohn was an American entrepreneur, author and motivational speaker. His rags to riches story played a large part in his work, which influenced others in the personal development industry.
Rohn was the recipient of the 1985 National Speakers Association CPAE Award for excellence in speaking.
In this book, the author, Jim Rohn, talks about the fundamentals of life -- what we think (our philosophy), what we feel (our attitude), what we do (our activity), what we get (our results), and how we do it (our lifestyle) -- and what goes into each of these fundamentals. For me, the real magic in this book wasn't that Jim's ideas about these things are particularly novel or groundbreaking (they aren't; I've read most of them before in various shapes and forms in other personal development books). Rather, it's how he puts them together, one building on another, and draws the big picture -- these are the things that matter in life, and that's why we should focus on them. There's wisdom here, for those willing to receive, digest and apply it.
I stumbled on Jim Rohn years ago on YouTube. He changed my life then and still is now. I'm so sad he's gone, but am grateful his knowledge remains for all of us to share. This book is going to be one of the core books I come back to again and again and again in order to make my dreams come true. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to change their life.
3.5 The book narrates about 5 Mazor Pieces includes Philosophy, Attitude, Activity, Results, and Lifestyle. This book is a self-help to acquire a life of wealth, health, and happiness; a life in which you give to yourself the gift of patience, the virtue of reason, the value of knowledge, and the influence of faith in your own ability to dream about and achieve worthy results.
The Key To Your New Journey of Growth I was first introduced to this personal development book by Jim Rohn a few years ago. What a life changer! If you are really into learning more about yourself, growing as an indivdual, and applying those strategies to better your life in general, this book is a MUST in your library!
"The Five Major Pieces to the Life Puzzle" is one of the Jim Rohn's best! If you were to search for one book that discusses Philosophy, Attitude, Activity, Results, and Lifestyle and the relationship between all five, you have found a winner in this selection. For me, this book started me on my personal development journey and years later, continues to be a great reference today. I recommend all of Jim Rohn's books, however, when I want to share with others some of the wisdom that I have learned from Rohn in hopes that they too will better themselves and add value to their lives, this is my FIRST and ONLY choice!
This book has so many simple yet profound teachings. What I like most about it is how he describes the source of motivation as the magnificent obsession and how that is the most important starting point for us living the life we are after. He goes beyond motivation and talks about the great importance of working HARD. He also gives stern warning of what can happen if we do not live our lives by the right principles.
It is possible to plan our future so carefully and so clearly that when the plan is complete, we can become so inspired by it, it will become our "magnificent obsession." (Page 51)
3,5 İnsana ruh yüksəkliyi verən bir kitab idi. Oxuduqdan sonra vaxtımızın nə qədər dəyərli olduğunu, mənəvi şeylərin bizi necə xoşbəxt edə biləcəyini, heç vaxt gələcəyə arxayın olub yaşamamalı və elə bu an işə başlamalı olduğunumuzu və s. xatırlayacağıq. Yenə də oxumaq olar. Yazarın da dediyi kimi, oxuya biləcəyiniz, sizə köməyi dəyə biləcək bütün kitabları oxumalısız👍 mən də belə düşünürəm
A concise book on the importance of taking responsibility for your life, to design it according to your master-plan and become success in areas of interest to you. For achieving that, you should cover the basics, namely your life philosophy, attitude, action, results and lifestyle. I know, these are not ground-breaking ideas, but the way they are discussed and linked together is outstanding. Not to mention that so often we overlook simple things...
Loved this quick read. I think I could summarize it by a quote on page 1 (though the book is full of great quotes): to have more we must first become more.
Reading Jim Rohn is like reading a more intellectual and more rigorously logical version of Anthony Robbins. His message is clear and erudite, and his ideas are explained with conclusive and universal brilliance. A good sound book.
Re-review: i re-read this book and found it worthless five years later, 2019. Worthless bromides for success, of no value to anybody, giving little instruction how to do them. Journaling, goals, and belief. So from four to one stars in five years.
Before anyone even heard of motivational speaking, Jim Rohn was doing it. The teacher of big names like Les Brown, Anthony Robbins and Eric Thomas. All have been greatly influenced by Jim's teachings. His principles stand the test of time and while easy to do, are also easy not to do. 30 minutes of Jim Rohn a day will leave you with fundamentals that will not just touch your life, but also those of the people around you.
To experience life, we must let it touch us. and not only the positive experiences. we must also be touched by the sorrow and the sadness, by the losses and longings. Emotions enrich our lives and create for us a special uniqueness in term of both who we are and how we live. -Jim Rohn
I like this idea in this book of the intelligence of use of both the past and the future, that is by becoming pulled by the future ( its excitements, goals..) and guided by the past ( lessons, experiences ..) and then choosing to take intelligent action in the present.
Jim presents us with a sequence of pieces to the life puzzle: philosophy, attitude, activity, and lifestyle. The glue that holds these pieces together is action. Each of us must constantly pause to remind ourselves that the clock is ticking. So, we must develop a sense of urgency to drive us into action.
Are you kidding me? Anything by Jim Rohm is pure gold and does more to inspire you than anything I've ever read. This book literally (pun intended) changed my life. The way he pieces five significant fundamentals together about life is ridiculously simple and after I read it, I kept finding myself saying "I knew it!". It reinforces what you may already be doing to reach the next level of success whatever that may be for you since the word itself can be subjective. I wouldn't want to give away the book but I will spoil and end this review with one of my favorite pieces of the puzzle - ACTIVITY. It's so important and reading is an activity, one that can shape leaders and create visionaries. I seem to find that reading is a common factor in all of the most interesting people I have ever known.
I am also a big fan of his. A valuable possession in my library. Would definitely recommend. Some of my favorite quotes come from "The Five Major Pieces to the Life Puzzle"
“We must become wise enough to use today to plan tomorrow. We must design the future, not just dream about it. If we discipline ourselves to put intelligence into our plans, we will put fortune into our future.” - Jim Rohn
“We still have all the time we need. We still have lots of chances… lots of opportunities… lots of years to show what we can do. For most of us, there will be a tomorrow, a next week, a next month, and a next year.” - Jim Rohn
“Our attitude about the future depends on our ability to see the future. Each of us has the inherent ability to dream, design, and experience the future through the power of an imaginative inner eye. Whatever the mind has the capacity to imagine, it also has the ability to create.” - Jim Rohn
“The promise of the future is not free. There is a price to be paid for any future reward. The price the future exacts from us involves discipline, labor, consistency, and a burning desire to make the future betterthan either the past or the present.” - Jim Rohn
And I have extracted from the book some paragraphs that I like best in order to introduce this good book to the readers:
Apparently the author is the seminal figure under whom famous life coaches like Anthony Robbins honed their craft. Robbins spoke about “executing massive actions” which I now know is the 3rd “piece” called “Activity”.
The five pieces are:
1. Philosophy: What you know and think, which will guide your....
2. Attitude: What you feel, which will drive...Activities. The gist: - Find a good model/mentor to emulate - Read a lot - all knowledge needed for self improvement has already been written. - Document tour experiences and reactions to them in a journal. - Failure is subtle and often you don’t feel the consequences of errors immediately. But should rectify errors promptly so the effect won’t be accumulated. Similarly for success - practise small disciplines - the eventual effect will be substantial. “The things that are easy to do are also easy NOT to do!” - therein lies the subtlety of failure. - Failure is largely a function of neglect.
3. Activities: Knowledge and personal convictions are useless if not accompanied by determined activities/actions, which will end with...
4. Results: The measurement of what your activities achieved.
5. Lifestyle: This last piece is the most intriguing. The gist: - Lifestyle is not what you pursue after you’re successful, but rather to live life fully, conscientiously, joyfully, appreciatively with whatever resources you have. - Happiness must precede success, and in fact may be a cause of it. - Oftentimes we go THROUGH the day rather than getting something from it. We are everywhere at any given moment in time except LIVING IN THAT MOMENT. Lifestyle is learning to be wherever you are, to focus on the current moment. - Do simple things in unique ways. Do ordinary things extraordinarily. Sound like platitudes? Actually they make a lot of sense to me.
In summary, to quote the writer: To have more, you must become more!

Jim Rohn - what a wise and wonderful man. His book THE FIVE MAJOR PIECES TO THE LIFE PUZZLE must be one of the best books about personal development I have ever read. Nearly every paragraph is quote worthy, but there's one image that has stuck with me above all:
The same wind blows on all of us. It's the setting of the sail that determines where we end up.
His message is one of EMPOWERMENT. According to Rohn, you don't need to master every aspect of life. Just focus on the fundamentals. They are: Philosophy, attitude, activity, results and lifestyle.
There are two things I personally struggled with. First, I underestimated the power of attitude. We are all affected by the way we feel. So much so, that our feelings can freeze us from moving forward, despite us knowing better. Second is the studying of results. Like an athlete looking at the results of his last run, we should be taking a good look at the results and decide if a change is in order. The results, the numbers, are always telling you if you are improving or not. If your burning desire was to improve your health and fitness, but you didn't have a single training session in the last two weeks - wouldn't those results already us everything?
