A celebration of Britain's favourite county, Cornwall Sketchbook is packed with over 200 evocative watercolour illustrations of the author's favourite villages and sights. The illustrations are accompanied by historical footnotes, maps, walks, quirky facts and a gazetteer.
Here's another illustrated travel guidebook from Jim Watson, this time covering Cornwall that's located at the southwest tip of England.
The book's similar in format to his earlier travelogue sketchbooks. It's hardcover with 96 pages.
It's written like a guidebook so it comes with maps and the maps even have parking areas marked out. Over 40 places around the Cornish coastline are featured. Every page is filled with beautiful watercolour illustrations and an informative writeup on the location. The author and artist Jim Watson says he's been going there for over 40 years.
It's fun looking at the pictures and reading about the picturesque places.
Great book to get if you're traveling there, or if you like travelogue sketchbooks.
A lovely easy read to get to know a bit about Cornwall - and makes you really want to go and see these places. As Cornwall-fanatics, we've been to most of these places, so was nice to see a lot of accuracy in the descriptions, but also extra information that we didn't know when we went (so now I have to go there again!).
