Sophie Jackson’s award-winning Pound of Flesh novels reignite “that feeling of sneaking risqué books under the bedcovers with a flashlight” (RT Book Reviews)! Join her millions of online fans with this irresistible enovella that takes the intimate relationship between a gutsy prison tutor and her sexy bad-boy student to the ultimate level.
When tutor Kat Lane met her brooding, dangerously tempting student Wesley Carter behind bars, she never dreamed of the day she would be excitedly planning for their wedding. It won’t be long before they’re man and wife, and neither Kat nor Carter can wait. But as they settle into the joyful haze of nearly-newlywed bliss, all their friends seem to be one step ahead. Everywhere they turn, couples are becoming parents, and the longing in Kat’s eyes worries Carter. What if she gets baby fever…and he’s not so sure? Carter’s childhood was rough, and his father was no example for how to be an upstanding man—or a good parent. Can Carter create a happy, safe, supportive home for his future children with Kat—the life he never had growing up? He had better figure it out soon…because Kat just told him she needs to take a pregnancy test.
This novella is a bit of a mix-match of multiple stories occurring within the A Pound of Flesh world, so it's definitely one that you need to read as part of this series (and in order) and not as a standalone.
First, we have Max and Grace - picking up their story from the conclusion of An Ounce of Hope. I love these two, and I love that we got to see more of them together, happy and in love.
Then Carter and Kat’s story continues, and is the main focus of the book. They are now happily married and moving forward together, but there are still some hiccups they need to overcome and honestly, I was disappointed with the way it all happened. I was so pissed at Carter. I could understand his concerns but he handled the situation so badly and I wanted to reach into my kindle and smack him. It all works out of course, and shows more of their grown together as a couple, but I just hated seeing them go through that much drama when it really wasn’t necessary.
And then there’s Riley. Hints have been dropped about his story, and there’s more of that here as he rallied behind his friend to offer support. I’m really looking forward to his book up next.
Overall, this was a good read. I’ve grown very attached to these characters and enjoyed seeing more of them and following them through the highs and lows of their relationships. And as always, Sophie Jackson’s writing was fantastic as she got us right into the heart and soul of these characters, I just wish there wsan't so much drama.
Book #1,5 & #2,5 are novellas that continue Book 1's MC's stories.
Book 2 & 3 are about other characters.
**********************************************
This novella, "Fate and Forever (A Pound of Flesh, #2.5)" focuses on the first problem in Carter and Kat's marriage but it is solved, of course, as they love each other crazy much. It also has a very entertaining scene towards the end.
This novella also gives a bit of information about Book 2's hero and heroine Max and Grace and it also prepares the readers for Riley's story, who is Book 3's hero.

Personal note:
I am not a fan of novellas, so I tend to leave them unrated. This novella tasted like a few bonus scenes with my beloved characters. I enjoyed it but I cannot rate it.

My recommendation:
Please do read BOOK 1 - it is epically beautiful. You don't need to read the rest in the series as none of them measure up to the first one at all.
I loved Pound of Flesh, so I was pretty excited to get more of Kat and Carter.
I did have to wait a bit, there first couple of chapter focus on Max and then Riley. When we do finally get to Kat and Carter, it was perfect. Fun, flirty banter and the possessiveness from Carter we all love.
There is a bit of drama, but it's worth it for the outcome. And the set up for A Measure of Love is interesting. I can't wait to start that one.
**Huge thanks to Gallery Books and NetGalley for providing the arc in exchange for an honest review**
A Novel with all the characters in Carter and Kat's weding. Max and Grace give each other another chance and now Riley who has lost his love and is living a party or hard life? Not sure what choose.
Everything is flowers for Carter and Kat?!! Or not? There is some point moments and realities that they are still to new to know. Nothing to add but make them stronger. Well, with count a Halloween costume probably an Officer.
Riley is another of the fucked boys. Will see history in the third book.
“Fate and Forever” is a quick novella! That gave us a tidbit into all the characters lives. How things have changed after Carter and Kat’s wedding. Like every couple there is a few bumps in the rode. That will bring a tear, laugher or heartache to the characters. Yes they seem to resolve it. But just like the phenomenal author Sophie Jackson is. She will has us craving and yearning for more.
3.5 i was so sure this one would have an epilogue bc love and always hadn't had one but once again i'm disappointed. also i didn't understand why it was relevant to include max and grace so much i came here for kat and carter not them/sigh going to read the epilogue from the fanfiction now
I did not love book 1, but this was free to listen to through Hoopla so I said what the heck. The MCs immaturity reminded me as to why I did not like the first one. I did not think much of this novella.
This is one of those series when everything goes south after book one. This is also short novella about characters from previous books and introduction in next book. I loved book one so it was fun to see Kat and Wes other then that short, nothing much of a novella. For the fans of the series.
I'm sorry for how I'm about to be mean but this just didn't make sense at. all.
According to the blurb this is about Kat having a pregnancy scare and Carter isn't ready for being a father, like ever. The story is narrated. You'll see Max and Grace and Riley's story is a bit introduced.
And than there's Kat and Carter. A few weeks after their honeymoon she tells him she might be pregnant (they had the talk ealier on their honeymoon, because why discuss it before you get married, and he doesn't want kids.) He goes all Christian 'asshole reaction' Grey and walks out on her after blaming she did it on purpose, while she knew he didn't want kids. The good thing was that eventually she walked away as well. All the way to Chicago (not literally, of course). He realized that he was wrong and he suffered a bit but then, guess what? She isn't pregnant at all! So why are we even reading this? What a waste of time.
After a good talk Kat doesn't go home with Carter so he goes out to celebrate Halloween with his friends. Why...? Then he sees a hot blonde (with curves like Kat). Oh boy, I wonder who that is! She hits on him and he makes it clear that he's married and all but he does think she's hot and blablabla. Eventually he figures out it's Kat. Damn, he can't even reagonize his wife! That was just too stupid. And why even pull off a prank like that in the first place?
And now they lived happily ever after. Until the next novella, perhaps.

In the latest novella by Sophie Jackson, we have a check-in of sorts with all the characters that we have come to know and love in the Pound of Flesh books. With just the right amount of sexy, emotion, and humor, this book will not disappoint fans of the series.
Also, the author gives us a few teasers of what Riley Moore might be dealing with soon. No doubt this will get you excited for the next book in the series comes out in June.
Audio Book Note: I love narrator Grace Grant! In my mind, whenever I see her name with an audio book, I know that I will enjoy listening to the book. She effortlessly becomes the characters that she is dictating and truly allows you to become part of the novel. Even in a short installment like this book, it was positively enjoyable to listen to the story.
My Review: This is just a filler novella for this series. I've enjoyed this series a lot and definitely recommend the entire series, but unless you've read the books, I don't think you will enjoy this novella. It's just a little glimpse into the main characters lives, which I enjoyed. I liked even more that it gave us hints of what is to come...can we say Riley? YES!!
If you've been reading the series, then the novellas are definitely worth the money. They have the same great writing that the main books have. They (this is the second one) are great little glimpses into the daily lives and little traumas of real life that happen with every couple so they are great to give the reader a sense of real-ness to the characters.
This story mainly dealt with the idea of Kat and Carter having a baby. It had sweet moments and I liked the final scene of the story. It was really fun. As a reader of the series, I hope the author keeps putting these out. I like them.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review.
“Fate and forever” is a novella featuring the MC’s from Jackson’s first novel, “A pound of flesh” Carter and Kat, as well as his friends Riley and Max. You should have read the main novel first, for “Fate and forever” is like an extended epilogue for this book.
I loved seeing Carter and Kat again, even when they struggled in their newly-wed bliss. We also got a new glimpse of Riley’s story, which will be next in this series in “A Measure of love”.
5 stars, recommended to all fans of “A pound of flesh”.
My least favorite book of the series so far. I enjoyed it, but it's not really how I expected it to be.
Kat and Carter are very special to me, so I hate seeing them fighting and having problems right after their wedding. His reaction when she told him the news was so horrible! He has a good heart, I know, but he can be the biggest asshole sometimes. I wouldn't be so forgiven if something like that happened to me. I understand the reasons why he was worried, but there's no excuse for such behavior. She was also scared and he made her feel more alone than ever. And also, the ending sounded a little unrealistic in my opinion. How could he not recognize his own wife? Dude...
I enjoyed reading a bit more of Max, Grace and Riley, but I wish we had more chapters focused on K&C.

I loved reading this novella. I always enjoy catching up and getting that extra little bit with the characters. After seeing how Max and Riley are doing after the ending of Ounce Of Hope we get to Carter and Kat. My favorite man Carter, I swoon of over him. Seeing how they are and how life is progressing for those two was such a nice treat from Sophie. This is also setting us up for Measure Of Love to be released. I am even more ready for that book now! Sophie's writing continues to be flawless and she has yet to ever disappoint me. Her books draw the audience in and do not let go till she is done with you. I love it.
Fate and Forever is a new novella from the fantastic series of A Pound of Flesh. Kat Lane and Wesley Carter are my favorite couple, so getting a little more about them is always a plus. What I love about this novella, is that not only are we getting more Kat and Carter, but also Max and Grace too. And we get a glimpse of Riley's (Carter's friend) story in this one too. Full review on release day!
This series just continues to give me at all, and this novella was no different. I loved every second of being back in the world and getting more of these characters. I love the fact that this novella was so many of these characters. It was Max and Grace and a continuation of what they were sharing. It was Kat and Carter and at ease of that next step. But it was also Riley and more of him and his story and what's to come and that equally had me an every word of this story, yet so be on desperate for more.
This novella had everything that I have come to love about this series. It had those moments that made me smile and laugh my ass off with the antics of these characters. It had those moments that clenched my heart and gave me all the feels. It had the moments that brought that fire and that swoon and everything in between. It had it all, and that is just part of what makes it so so good!
I feel like these novellas are the perfect bridge in between all of these novels. It gives that in between, it gives me more of this world and more of these characters that I just love, but it also shows all of the steps leading up to that next book. That is fantastic and I think it adds to the series of a whole. I love that is author has given that in these novellas because it just adds to my love and enjoyment of everything I'm reading.
as much as I am so ready for Riley story to me of my life, I'm sad that I'm about to reach the end of this series. It has been a phenomenal reading experience that I have loved and as much as I need more of these words in my life, I'm equally sad that it's all about to come to an end...yet I have no doubt that this author will continue to blow me away with everything she creates because that is what she has gone through every part of this story and series and journey.
Should’ve stop at the first book but I’m so stupid to find out if the MC got a beautiful wedding or having a children 🙄🙄🙄 ..such a disappointment and wasting my time because the thing that I hope didn’t happen in this book plus I got unnecessary moment from couple of book 2 which I didn’t read and also unnecessary drama...ughhh WTH!! The author don’t have interesting idea I guess she ruin hero character by including stupid drama where the hero doesn’t ready to have children and heroine got late period and they fight , hero left the house after argument heroine left the hero after that bla bla bla.. same old plot and turn out the heroine didn’t pregnant 🤣🤣🤣.He grovel a bit but after a week ?? LOL and he go to the club and he saw a blonde woman in police officers costume..he think that woman was attractive but he still thinking about his wife plus the woman was flirting with him but he brush it off quickly and the author surprise us!! that woman is the heroine wearing a blonde wig.Why the hell he didn’t recognised her voice and what if he drunk and go with that woman if it’s not our Heroine wearing blonde wig ?? Overall I’m dissatisfied with this book and the epilogue was abruptly end with still no child.
This was a short little peak into what these characters are doing between the second and third book.
I loved that there was that transition from Max to Riley with some Carter in between. You get your updates from everyone and still feel connected to their story and what was to come!
