ForeWord Reviews Book of the Year and winner of the 2014 Epic Award, Crash is a thought provoking thriller. A cross between The Bourne Identity, Avatar and Armageddon, the Fuzed Trilogy tackles the most likely and preventable cataclysms facing us.

What if you were fatally injured, but offered a second chance in a genetically perfect body with humanity's best abilities? The price? Everyone you knew believes you're dead, you look as if you have a grandparent from every continent, and ... you have two years to prevent the annihilation of almost all life on earth. Ridiculous? According to research papers published this year, the probability of an imminent global cataclysm is 10 times greater than we thought (see Author Page video).

Wow

What a page turner. I just had to know what was going to happen next. The characters were likeable, even when they were not cooperating.

As serious as this story is there was humor too. I really enjoyed the book.

Edge of your seat exciting & frightening story

I can't say too much about this book. I was sucked into the story before I'd read the first ten pages. It's so exciting, I couldn't stop and read through that night finishing about 6 am. Looking forward to the movie mentioned at the end of the book.

Very enjoyable read

This book is a fairly easy read, and while the concept (earth getting hit by an asteroid) isn't new, the approach to resolving it is quite original and the science is sound. I'm looking forward to reading the next one.

I was surprised on how much I liked reading this book. I started off liking it with a USAF pilot who died in the first chapter. I was a USAF pilot and it seemed real. Except the character wakes up in a perfect body that nobody knows about, and with voices in his head telling him he needed to save the world from being hit by a dark comet. That made me wonder if I would like it.

But the character finds a way to create a dark agency and get a core of people to build a site in Antarctica to send a beam to deflect the comet. That got me to not put the book down. (One character supplying money is named "Elton Muske"). The villain was the head of the CIA who discovers this project.

After resolving the problem, we have a couple of loose ends. The quantum voice in his head will be easy to resolve, but whoever created his body will probably take a book or two (it is a trilogy). He now has a friend with the new CIA head, so there's a danger the series may become more of a super James Bond type. But I will hope not and buy the next book anyway.

Impact (Fused trilogy #1)

This book will test your belief in a Supreme being who is in total control of the universe we live in. That anything is possible, including a second life to insure preservation of the world and it's people's lives through means that is almost beyond our comprehension and our imagination. It all boils down to believing in something or someone greater than ourselves.I'm willing to let you make your own evaluation and decisions. Thanks for a great read.

Good time pass. Excellent research and description and dialog of various disciplines from science to philosophy. The writing is very good - fast moving. But the author suffers from the typical American author infectious disease of making their hero absolutely super human. He looks like the greek god just like you expect from a Harlequin romance novel but of course can give a discourse on philosophy even as the jet he is flying is running out of fuel over Antartica!

Interesting

I don’t know how to review this. Premise realistic and well thought out. Sci Fi ish, mystery, surprises, secondary plots that evolve. No lost info, useless info, plot tracks and grows as it progresses. The book is more than just a fast read entertaining but not a classic. I think the author has talent and will be around a while

The concept is very interesting and the delivery on that concept is also very interesting. Is the hero of the story now supernatural? Are there other beings keeping an eye on our survival? How to you explain the essential kidnapping of our entire military, CIA, Engineering, etc bureaucracies by one man in secrecy to save the world?

A fighter pilot crashes and is offered a choice. He can die,or accept a new life.He chooses life.He becomes a homogenized male with no name.He makes a new life, but can not forget his old life or his new mission. Terry F.Self was a fine narrator.I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Surprising

A "4" because there are 2 more to come. On its own, with an ending "Impact" is a "5" ... Suspense .. Twists .. Characters .. Subtle yet direct message. Taking a book brake before breaking out "Imagine".

Scariest book I have read in a long time about real possibilities

Very well written.the author has the talent and ability to research a difficult subject nd still make it believable. I still have questions but I am positive they will be answered in upcoming books.

Fast read and some fun chapters. Though there are certain lines that I found flat and no use to the plot nor improve overall writing. They are frequent enough in the first half of the book to bother me enough from giving the book 4 stars.

This review is for the Audio Book version of Impact: Fuzed Trilogy Book #1

Andy Logan is a Navy pilot whose aircraft catches fire. As he tries to make it to a designated safe landing field, he loses his engines and while he is unable to make it to the landing field, he is able to ditch his plane in a construction site; that at least at that time, no one is around. As he ejects out of the jet, he realizes that his demise is imminent.

A year later he regains consciousness in a hospital with a different body and superhuman abilities. He looks completely different and oddly enough it seems that everyone 'sees' him differently as well. He is also able to communicate with someone he refers to as "Jesse" who tells Andy a number of things. Jesse communicates with Andy by what I would refer to as telepathy, but Andy speaks aloud to Jesse.

Jesse tells Andy that within 2 years a comet will intersect with earth and all life on earth will be destroyed. Andy can never return to his former way of life or to the woman he was married to.

When Andy was found and admitted to the hospital, he was admitted as a "John Doe" as he had been found unconscious and nude.

Even though Andy remembers what happened with the crash, he knows that no one would believe him and feigns amnesia and decides to go by the name of "Josh Fuze".

By using a number of questions, Jesse challenges Josh to try to save the world. Josh decides to research as much as he can about comets, astrophysics cosmology, physics, and other fields of science to hopefully discover a way to deflect the comet's trajectory so that it will miss the earth. Josh is able to communicate to Jesse when he wishes to make that connection to speak with him.

This is as far as I want to go with the plot of this amazing book.

What I will tell you is that this book/audiobook is Mind Candy! I was immediately drawn into the story from the first sentence and literally was on the edge of my seat all the way through the story.

I have read thousands of books in my life, and listened to a couple of hundred audiobooks and as much as I have loved the experience this book was unlike any I have ever read/listened to.

I have always had an interest in Science and also Science Fiction. There is a wonderful blending of both in this spectacular story. There is a hint of genetic manipulation or cloning, (I am not sure which), and a lot of cutting edge Science that we probably don't know about in our very real world.

This book has a very tightly woven plot with wonderful subplots that are very well orchestrated into a book that you will want to read/listen to from start to finish!

Author David E. Stevens is an author whose work I had not seen before. I was very impressed with the amount of realism in this book and after reading his bio, I was not surprised to see that he served in the Navy as a fighter pilot among other areas. (Thank you for your service, Mr Stevens!) I would read any book this man writes. He is a superb story teller and the technical information in this book are not too complex for people to understand.

Narrator Terry F. Self is someone whose voice acting I had never heard prior to this audiobook. This man is so amazing! There is a quality to his narrating that is so unusual and wonderful. His narrating just slipped into my mind and was so natural. He has this thing where he just sighs with explanations in the story line like most of us do when we are confronted with relating things that we think others might find hard to accept, or believe. You know what I mean. Someone says something; asks a question and you just sigh and think, 'well, I gotta say it', and so you do. He does this throughout the audiobook and this made the story more real for me.

His many voices in this audiobook were so varied, it was truly like listening to an entire cast perform, rather than one person with such a range of voices, tones, pitches and accents. Mr Self is someone whose work I will be listening to again.

I think this book/audiobook would interest most people. It is very action oriented and the suspense doesn't let up from the first word to the last.

Get the book/audiobook! You won't be sorry!

With Impact (the first book in the Fuzed series), David E Stevens has managed to build an inspiring story out of an apocalyptic world scenario. With his extensive knowledge and his diverse background, he's create a story that challenges you to think outside the box and to look at the world from a higher level. The plot is well-conceived - layered with action, romance, and tough questions that compel you to read on. Are we alone in the universe? Are there forces at work that cannot be seen or understood by human reasoning? Are there some things that simply must be taken on faith?

Simply put, this is a book that must be on everyone's bookshelf.

On a further note, "Impact" is an updated second edition of Stevens' original "Resurrect" novel from 2012. This new version features a slightly faster paced, re-edited story - especially evident in some of the early chapters. While many of the differences are small, it does offer some new material even for those who already own the original novel and is well worth the purchase.

Hooked!

Fascinating plot that had me hooked from the start. This is one of those books that I am so glad that I found. The story was great and the book really made me think about the points the author was writing about. As for the book itself, the writing was very fast paced with no fillers or fluff. I'm looking forward to continuing the series.

This novel grabs you from the start and does not let you go! Stevens keeps your curiosity piqued throughout. It is one very interesting construct where science and the supernatural intersect. It is very easy to see that the description of this novel being a cross between The Bourne Identity, Avatar and Armageddon is very true, and can only add to the various layers that this novel has in its development. Makes for one very action packed and totally absorbing read.
