Daniel X: Lights Out is the last book in the series. In this book, Daniel goes up against the strongest alien he will ever meet, the Prayer, number one alien bounty on the list. The Prayer killed Daniel’s parents when Daniel was really young. This makes Daniel hate and want to kill the Prayer badly. Daniel has been waiting his whole life for an epic showdown between him and the Prayer. Hunting aliens with his special powers to create anything he can imagine is something Daniel has been doing his whole life. Only one left on Daniel’s alien bounty list, the Prayer. Daniel X is the only one left that can stop him with the aid of his friends. Will he be able to do it and save the world once again?
The book starts off with Daniel waking up in a hospital bed at the hospital intensive care. Then Daniel finds out that he had been in a coma for over a year. This is bad because Daniel has become very weak and can’t really use his powers well. Daniel will need to be at his strongest before he can go up against number one. Delaying him from going against his nemesis, Daniel has a lot of work to do in order to make his powers stronger. His friends will have to help him regain strength and powers. Without his friend's help, he will have no chance against the Prayer.
The rating that I would give this book is a five star. Reason for being a five star is because the flow and storyline are amazing. It is an easy book to read, yet not so easy that you would want a more challenging book. There is a lot of action that keeps your attention through the whole book. This book flows and continues the storyline of following Daniel X and his friends on his alien bounty hunts. This was a great way to finish the Daniel X series. It was a phenomenal book and would be recommended if you love aliens and action. The length of the book is another added bonus, with the chapters being very short, thus making the book very easy to put down if you need to take a break.

Not the best in the series, that's for sure. This seams to have happened with all the young adult series James Patterson has written. Max Ride was good to start with and then just went wonky. Witch and Wizard was good till book 4 and then same thing.

So, basicly Daniel runs, gets captured, fights, runs gets captured, spends some time with creatures of the light, fights and wins.

Daniel has become full of himself ever since about book 4. Its rather obnoxious really. And the ending? Just ugh... There is a seven day battle and we get no idea of anything that went on in it. And then his dad dieing for him... again...
I did enjoy it slightly, because there is some pretty good action in the begining. I also cant not finish a series once I am this far in.

Last rubbish book in a rubbish series by Patterson Inc - I started on the quest to read all of Patterson some time back and I tell you there are moments you just want to give up especially with dribble like this. James what are you doing man? Get it together. There were some decent ideas and execution once upon a time, what happened? Stop trying to publish a book every other day with a different person writing it and go back to the open yourself! Less is more....

The final book of the Daniel X Series written by James Patterson has many amazing ups and downs. It takes the reader on a thrilling adventure as Daniel tries to defeat his number one enemy, the alien who killed his parents, The Prayer.
But unfortunately for Daniel, the prayer seems to be indestructible. Unlike the minions The Prayer controls it cannot be exploded from the inside, destroyed by heart failure, tricked into their demise, or slain in any way.
As Daniel runs through the plot, getting sedated in a mad hospital, almost getting killed by Mack trucks that transform into bulldogs, and running right to the doorstep of death, he truly does step over the line.
In the heart of the story Daniel sees his dead father once again, something he, and the reader, would never have expected.
Graff, giving his son some last minute advice, tells him to look for “backup.”
Running to his father’s spiritual adviser, Xathous the horse who is not from the Arabian Peninsula, Daniel learns of his father’s “backup” spiritual adviser.
Returning to his old home in Kansas, where his parents had been slain, Daniel meets Mikaela who seems to be an angel.
Now, as The Prayer hunts down Daniel for revenge, Daniel must find a way to destroy the alien without succumbing to hate or “the darkness” as Xanthous says.
But in the end is it all for nothing?
As Daniel dies he is thrown into a whirlwind of his memories before he steps into a world of light.
There he is given a choice: Return to Earth and try to save the love of his life as well as the whole planet or to pass on to the next dimension to a new life.
Daniel, being the noble fictional hero he is, chooses the former and jumps back to life but not before he brings his friends back with him.
Now Daniel, his drang, and the Legions of Light are going up against the most powerful force of darkness yet for The Prayer was just a host to the pure evil in the world.
Zeboul, the entity who controlled The Prayer, is going to destroy Daniel.
Then his father steps in.
Shock flows through the words of the story as Daniel’s father, Graff, enters the big picture quite literally.
Sacrificing his chance to move onward, Graff returns to his past life just as Daniel and his drang did to defeat Zeboul.
As his father dies for a third time he repeats these words: “I love you Daniel. Always.”
Those words were Daniel’s father’s last on Earth has his spirit faded away.
Graff had sacrificed much but had saved much more.
In that truth, I believe that Graff, Daniel’s father, mentor, and backup, was really the true hero of this story.

This book was really good. I'm sort of sad that the series ended. It was entertaining at the end. Not so much at the front though. But so far I like this book and number 4 the best. I still miss Kildare.
This book starts with Daniel getting into a truck accident. He wakes up in a hospital to be told that he has been in a coma for an year. He tells the doctors, his friends and family things of himself as Daniel X but no one believes him. He realizes he is in a facility of Number 1's and all his friends and family here are fake. He escapes to have Number 1 chase him around. He finds that his powers aren't working for him. He and his friends have a little fun time in a museum that helps Daniel get his powers back.
He goes to Washington meeting a girl called Mikaela. When he goes back to Agent Judges farm he finds that Number 1 has already gotten there and taken Mel. He and Number 1 start fighting, and Daniel picks up bits of advise for the fight. After killing the Prayer Daniel celebrates but finds out that the Prayer was a host. He and the real number 1 fight, Daniel with the Legion of light. Number 1 with darkness armies. But Daniel's dad suddenly appears and destroys Number 1.
This book I think was supposed to be sad but I don't really care about sad.

I hope this is the last book in the series. The author has run out of energy and gives us the same old, same old. Daniel fights, his invisible friends cheer him on, his dead parents talk to him. Number One, the evil alien, has moved killing Daniel to the top of his kill list, Number One is already on the top of Daniel's list. The only interesting part of the book is the start where Daniel wakes up in a hospital, told he was in a coma for a year. His friends and parents are so happy he woke up. (Not true.) Daniel is almost convinced that it is true.

There is a lot I didn't like about this book so I will try to sort it out.

Things I didn't like -
-There was too much action. Much more than I like.

-It was really complicated and therefore I did not know what was going on a lot of the time (I cannot say that's the book's fault because it is actually my fault I started with the sixth book and not the first book)

-At one point, Dana, Emma and the rest were completely left out.

-The whole book was overly drastic!

-And Daniel had too many powers (sorry).

Things I liked -
-The things that made sense (which is mostly nothing so I'm not going to try and list them here)

-Daniel defeated (?) Number 1 in the end.

Yes, that is pretty much all I liked about this book.
Lights Out was a big disappointment and if I ever re-read it I will read the series IN ORDER!!
I can't say I would not recommend it either because technically I haven't even read the entire series yet. Like not even the first book.

I chose this book because I read the rest of the series and it was great maybe a little repetitive but it was good. I finally got to see the moment I was waiting for the whole series and was Daniel fighting the prayer. The prayer killed Daniels parents when he was three years old so he went his life without parents. The book was a pretty good book especially we got to his friends during the final battle which wasn't really in the other books. I felt like it should've been the other way around because this battle was very personal because well he killed his parents. This book was very good and had a lot better of an ending them any of the other books. I personally loved this book and the series.

ok, so i really love this series but the last 2 books were disapointing to me. there wasnt as much detail and not nearly as much action in them. i personally expected a greater ending but ending in demons and druids was MUCH better than this one. i was really hoping that something more would happen between melody and daniel. i love the party at the end and the dramatic part with the dad but he was supossed to be gone. i feel like mr.patterson should have made daniel defeat "all evil" by himself because it was his life goal. i did enjoy the added feature of micala and the legion of light. i wished he had explained what happed when daniel died and also what happened when the legion of light had grabbed hold of the shadows.

The main character, Daniel, is so overpowered it's ridiculous, and the super short chapters make it cut off so suddenly that everything feels unnecessarily suspenseful. This is consistent across the whole series, but I love all these books for it. These are such a guilty pleasure.

I gave all of the books in this series three stars, but this one gets four stars because the amount of ridiculousness is multiplied to the max when he's going against The Prayer because it's almost as overpowered as Daniel. Also, the ending is heartwarming in my opinion and just feels like a good ending to one of my favorite series ever.

After starting this series a long time ago I’d guess between 5-10 years, I decided this was the year I’d finish it.

The downside of reading them so close together is you realise just how similar each of the books are,

Anyway it’s a fun series and I imagine in the correct age range or read further apart this would be less obvious.

The Daniel X series was one that I actually enjoyed until I got to this book. This book felt like it disregarded things set in place in previous books. It felt almost like it was cop out after cop out with no thought to the things happening in the book. It threw way too many things in the ring and didn’t take the time to deal with it in a way that made sense. The ending?? The final battle?? It didn’t make sense and did not feel satisfying in the slightest. If anything it just annoyed me. I felt like I took physic damage from this book.

I feel like this one has left me with mixed feelings.
On the positive, I loved that the book started with such a bang - no warm up or back fill, just straight to the main villain.
On the other hand, I feel slightly cheated by the ending. We’ve spent 6 books getting to know Daniel, his powers, goodness, his friends and most importantly his successes, but when it comes down to the final fight ... he doesn’t win. His father does it for him.
I don’t know. Something was missing for me.

The snarky and self-deprecating humor in the narration made up for the inconsistent plot line. Some interesting ideas and concepts in the book, but I don't think it used the practically limitless potential of imagination to its fullest. Then again, that's not an easy feat. If one could do it in a mere book series then well, it wouldn't be our 'infinite imagination', would it?

I know it's a teen book but quick couple hrs read. I read the whole series this week. Not needed but fun in a Kids in Black kinda thing. Just enjoy. The end is worth it. All of the other books are 3.5 rating but this is a 5 as I am vested in the characters. As a stand alone it is maybe a 4. Read em all in order and just enjoy for what it is.

I enjoyed a lot of this book. But listening to the last hour or so of the book was a little preachy about the battle between good and evil. Not exactly what one expects from a young adult action type book. But it was a good ending to the series nonetheless.

I didn't know what to expect with this series, but wow, when I can do most of these books in a few hours that say something. If you have boys who won't read, have them try this series. I'm so glad I read these books

Amazing end to an amazing series. The thrill ride did not stop. However, Xanthos was a slightly annoying character. His parts were kind of cringeworthy to read. But other than that, it's amazing. A near-perfect ending. Definitely JP's most underrated series.

The final book in the Daniel X series by James Patterson. Daniel X is ready to take on The Prayer, the alien that killed his parents. A fast-paced, and sometime humorous, adventure.

Pretty good book, the way Daniel is written though just makes me not really like his character. But maybe it's perfect for actual young adults. Pretty good way to end it though
