This book did not work for me at all. Those who are fans of this series and this author will no doubt love it, but avid mm readers like myself probably not so much. Going in I knew it was part of a mf series, but thought I'd give it a go anyway. A good try by the author, but it's probably best she sticks to mf because that's basically all this was. Cliched storyline, silly communication issues, characters I really didn't like. Oh the drama, so much drama wahhhh. There were so many things That annoyed me, such as the sex scenes. I've read some other reviews and apparently they are 'hot' um no, they are most definitely not. They are quick, boring, and weird. Also what kind of girl walks in on her boyfriend who she is deeply in love with, going at it with another guy, and just basically shrugs and says oh well let's be best friends instead. And isn't it amazing how everything turned out with Hayden, so perfect paving the way for annoying Luke. Nawwww. Ok I'll stop there, the author tried, but unfortunately I can't recommend this book. If you're a fan of her other work though then go for it.

Review:
“Hands skimmed up his torso, cupped his shoulders to pull him closer, and tangled in the curls at the nape of his neck. ‘I promise to go slow. I’ll stop when you need me to. I just need to taste you.’ Sawyer’s lips hovered lightly over Luke’s as their heated breaths mingled.”

4 secretive stars!! Emotional and beautiful!

Sawyer is struggling with his sexuality and he’s having a hard time revealing his true self to his family and friends. And now that he’s moved back home he knows that he can’t keep this secret to himself much longer. Luke also is battling with his feelings with his sexuality. HIs mother made him promise that he’d keep his “urges” towards men to himself. So when he meets Sawyer, he resists him, well as much as he can. What happens when these two fight the temptations and give into love?
What an emotionally powerful book! I love a book that punches you in the gut, and this is exactly what this book did to me! This is the first book I’ve read from this author, but after this one I know I’ll be reading more in the future!!

Welp...I think I've had enough of this author. She is just not for me.
This really had the potential to be a good read...but really, don't they all?
You know when you read a book and feel the author just puts too many words in the characters mouth? Like...you didn't need to use 3 sentences to explain what could have been said in one. ya know?
I couldn't get into the characters... ANY of them... and there were a LOT! it was insta love for Sawyer and Luke, it felt tremendously superficial. The sex scenes were laughable. (Definitely a m/f author).
There was WAY too much family involvement in the MCs relationship.
I didn't appreciate the way Sawyer was seeing ONE man (who really liked him, btw) and just kinda blew him off for someone else.
Another character just annoyed the hell outta me with his juvenile jokes.
Luke had legitimate issues regarding past traumatic abuse...affecting his sexuality in a BIG way and I felt Sawyer just bugged the HELL outta Luke to get over it already!
And everything was tied up just too neatly at the end...
I could just go on...I finished it...I was cringing the whole time...but I felt for Luke. Oh well...

This m/m romance novel is easy to read and has lots going on. The characters are well developed and A.D Ellis obviously has an interest in the area of discrimination against people in the LGBT community, as this was highlighted throughout the story.

Sawyer struggles with many uncertainties regarding his sexuality and how his family and friends would react to him coming out to them. The emotions surrounding this were deeply felt and my heart went out to him. I can only imagine how hard it must be to face discrimination of this kind.

I don't want to spoil what happens in the story but I loved how he had a good support network around him.

I look forward to reading other books in the Torey Hope series, especially as other characters are mentioned in this book. I loved Decker and cannot wait to read his book

I honestly cannot say anything more about this book , it is AMAZING and perfect and I just adored it. Of course it is filled with some very sensitive subjects BUT these are real life everyday struggles and they are handled so well. The families we have grown to love in Torey Hope really have their work cut out for them in this book. We have had years of pain , years of bliss and now the kids are telling their stories of adulthood and it seems they are running the same course. Honestly this is real life. Nothing is ever easy and when you want something bad enough you will face demons , the odds and anything to have it. Sawyer does that here and it pays off and I am looking forward to more from this family and of course with their struggles comes that love and happiness we have grown to desire. There is some serious funny packed into this as well. OMG Kendrick and Nicky have me rolling while reading !! I was LOL'ing at Water Country as I read !! The heat is great too !! I don't mind some M/M it is super hot and Sawyer is amazing.

Sawyer has finally come out to his brother , cousins , parents and is about to face the rest of his family. It has not been an easy choice for him but after years of hiding from most he has decided it is best for him. Decker and the cousins were fine , his parents had suspected and his couple of good friends have always supported him. Let's just say the family talk does not go how I would have expected. Then again of course there would be struggle after all this is a story and it needs the struggle. It was sad , but sadly a very real reality of life. On top of this Sawyer is also faced with his love life. He has a great friend in Hayden and although Hayden is all in for Sawyer , that spark isn't there and Sawyer feels this massive guilt about possibly using him. Luke comes around as a new instructor to the Center+ and everyone can see the desire in their eyes but Luke is a whole new struggle and he not only has to fight his past demons but his present issues as well. Sawyer knows what he wants and once he decides to fight for it he is all in. This poor guy faces so much in this story but NEVER gives up. He is an amazing role model and inspiration to all. His story may have an HEA but it takes awhile to get there.

I have to say going back to that story when Sawyer told Decker and the guys. OMG I love the way they joke and the fun they had. Then Nicky's question at the family dinner !! It was priceless and so innocent and real !! I just love those added pieces to the story. it gives these characters such a real feel and a way to connect. You know at some point those funny questions and comments were thoughts crossing your mind too !!

I have read all the Torey Hope books because I absolutely love the way A.d Ellis writes from the heart. She makes all her characters real and when I read about their lives and the town where they live, I feel a part of that.

I don't normally read MM but I have to say this book was so much more than just gratuitous MM sex. This delved into the difficulties two gay men faced in a small town. Both Sawyer and Luke had their own story and their own reasons for not following their heart and it made quite difficult reading at times. I really felt I could empathise with their struggles despite me not being gay. I think the way it was written was actually quite beautiful and when there are struggles in people's lives, when they feel they are unable to admit their true self and feelings, it is desperately sad.

They both built up walls to hide who they really were and it is thought-provoking and it did make me wonder how many people live unhappy lives, living what must feel like a fake life, feeling in constant turmoil while trying to deal with other people's opinions towards them.

Well A.d my dear, I read this book not knowing what or how I would feel and I can honestly say, once again, you made me sad, you made me happy but most of all, you made me feel... which is why I love to read, to feel something.

I think you might very well be The Queen of Tugging Heart-Strings x x x

I loved Sawyer. He was sweet, caring and understanding. Luke, well it took me some time to warm up to Luke. I was actually rooting for Hayden, and I really hope he'll get a story down the line. But Luke grew on me, and I actually grew to love him as well. The story is well written, but slow paced at times. We stay in the past the first 20% of the book, and watch as Sawyer slowly comes to terms with his sexually, before we finally move to the present, but what this did, was help make Sawyer a very in depth and well developed character.

Luke's story was heartbreaking and I can't imagine the hurt and agony he suffered at the hands of his father and brothers. Sawyer and Luke had a great chemistry. The story was sexy, romantic, sweet, and funny. I LOVED Sawyers family. They were so sweet, funny and so very supportive of Sawyer.

All in all this was a really good and enjoyable read!

I have been on abit of a M/M kick recently yet reading this on it just made me stop and think about what young gay people who are worried about coming out must really feel. You can tell A.D. Ellis most definitely done her research when it came to Sawyer, the dedication in the front of the book proves that. Both Sawyer & Luke had to go through so much and I had my heart in my throat through the majority of the book.

A.D - Thank you for writing such an inspirational story and I hope if anyone reads this and are experiencing the same problems both the lads went through that they are able to overcome any hurdles and "let love in, let love win".

There is so much fear in this book. Fear of what people will do. About the retaliation they will face when they know your big secret.
This story is a tale in self-discovery in seeking acceptance and embracing the life you deserve to live.
Sawyer (the MC in this book) truly seeks what all kids do from their family… support. He wants to be what they want him to be all the while it’s like he’s screaming inside. “WHY CAN’T YOU SEE ME? WHY CAN’T I JUST TELL YOU?”
It was heartbreaking and it really shined a spotlight on the struggle all LGBT face at some point in their lives.
AD Ellis did a beautiful job with Sawyer and really showed the emotion well throughout this story.

"The thing with keeping secrets and not being truthful with those who love you is that it gets harder and harder with each day."

My goodness. This book was a beautiful story of self-discovery, forgiveness, love, and acceptance.

This was my first time reading a A.D. Ellis book, and it won't be my last. I was thrown into the world of Torey Hope and the people inside it. I fell in love with the families.

Sawyer Morgan has held in a secret for so many years. All he wants is his family's support and love no matter what. This book was very well written in the aspect of getting in the head of someone experiencing this situation.

This was not my first M/M book, but I believe this one stole my heart the most. I felt every emotion that Sawyer was going through. With coming out to his family, answering their questions (some were quite funny), and finally feeling like he was accepted for just being...him, it was a wonderful story.

"He felt like he was Sawyer Morgan on the outside, but it was just a facade. The real Sawyer was gay, but he was being hidden away. He longed for the courage to be himself."

Now to talk about Luke. He broke my heart, but at the same time I found myself being attracted to his vulnerability. He fought his feelings for so long. He tried to prove that he wasn't what people thought he was.

All he needed was someone in his corner--someone to push him to be himself. He needed a friend. Sawyer was everything he needed and more.

"Everything about Sawyer was hot, but Luke also saw more than that. He saw man who was hurt, a man struggling, a man in need of a friend just as much as Luke was."

Like I said before, I fell in love with these characters! Sawyer, Decker, Kendrick, and Adam are hilarious together! I found myself laughing out loud at their antics. They were perfect best friends for Sawyer and Decker was a great brother for support.

This book was a wonderful love story. It showed the push and pull struggle between a couple. Both Sawyer and Luke were dealing with internal battles while fighting for a love they never thought they would have. There was even a little bit of a love triangle in the mix that was a extra little piece to Sawyer's self-discovery.

"Can I kiss you?"
"You never have to ask."

A.D. Ellis has gained another fan with this book! I enjoyed every bit of this story! It was beautiful, heartbreaking, and inspiring. It teaches you to always be true to yourself. Never just settle.

This was wonderful. such a beautiful romance. I felt for Sawyer and Luke. Sawyer because of how much he kept inside and how much he wanted to keep his family from suffering from who he was. He was so afraid people would hurt his family’s livelihood and of disappointing his family that he kept who he was from everyone. Luke because he was treated so horribly in his past that you wanted to just hug him and tell him everything would be okay.

Each character gave meaning and depth to the story. The ones that added comic relief were Zach and Kendrick. those two were a hoot. They were there when Sawyer needed them and showed such love and support even if they were goofballs. Kendricks jokes were to much they had me rolling. The ones when Luke and Sawyer went to the aquarium were just to funny. That comic relief was needed with the story of these two and their journey to finding comfort in who they are and finding love with each other..

Sawyer’s family were so loving and understanding. Nicky was adorable with his honesty and way of seeing things you can’t help but smile. When the ones of his family didn’t initially show support for Sawyer you felt for him but as you learned why it broke your heart. They loved him so much they didn’t want him to hurt and didn’t realize they were hurting him more. This made them turn around and the support and love was breathtaking to see.

I do want a story on Hayden and Mikel because that little tidbit was one that got you wanting to know more. Luke was a wonderful guy but hurt so much. He was trying to honor his mom but not really because he wasn’t living. He was existing. He was fighting his feelings for Sawyer because of his pain from his dad and brothers. Sawyer knew this and was sweet, kind, understanding and patient. It hurt him to see Luke this way but he gave him the space and support that was needed for him to come around and see what he wanted and desired. What that was was Sawyer. I felt so much for Sawyer for this book showed us his struggle in his teens and college to present day and how much he wanted a love like everyone in his family had. He found this with Luke but it took time. Time for Luke to see that it was okay to love Sawyer. Once Luke came to terms with this it still took awhile for Luke to accept Sawyer’s family and that he wouldn’t hurt him. He was hurt so much in his past. As they got closer and the love became stronger, Luke began to give more to Sawyer and it was a wonderful sight.

When apart we saw Sawyer show his own strength and from a distance love and support Luke but also go through a scary time in which he showed resilience and great character. He showed us that hate doesn’t work against hate as violence doesn’t work against violence. He showed us that acceptance of those that have hate towards his sexuality and forgiveness for their ignorance was the best offence even when they hurt you. It shows those around you how strong, kind and compassionate you are. It shows strength of character and morals. It shows people what kind of person he is and is a good example for others to follow.

This is a sweet, heartbreaking, emotionally wonderful love story of two men who struggled to come to terms with who they are and who they love. A story that depicts a beautiful love that helps one heal and the other find strength in himself to be there for the one he love no matter what. A wonderful story that keeps you wanting to see what will happen and hoping for a happy ending. I loved the story of how Luke and Sawyer found themselves and love with each other. A love that lasts forever and I look forward to reading Zach’s and Kendrick’s stories next.

★✩★✩★ 5 – Rough, Brutal, and Full of Hope – Stars
~this review may contain minor spoilers~

Part of him felt ready for this next step, another part of him wanted to keep plodding along, keeping his secret, hiding. He was so tired of hiding, but staying hidden brought him comfort. He was tired of secrets, but those secrets were his shield.

This book was actually my introduction to the Torey Hope series and A.D. Ellis and I'm now kicking my ass for somehow letting this series fly beneath my radar. I have to thank the Book Enthusiast for bringing this to my attention – I was on the lists of bloggers contacted because I have previously been involved in tours/promos for M/M romance books and I'm so glad I was. Although this read very much like a standalone, I never got the feeling I was walking into a story at it's halfway point, I am sorry I missed out on these characters back stories – I fell in love with so many of them, I am dying to see how they got to where they are today. As for Sawyer's journey, fair warning – grab some freakin tissues cause damn, this is most definitely an emotion pack book. Lot's of drama, lots of tears, lots of heartbreak, with a feeling of hope and love woven through it. My heart hurt so damn much for Sawyer and Luke for all they have gone through in their lives just for being who they are. They never asked for the trouble and hatred aimed at them, they just wanted to be loved like everyone else and they deserved it no less than anyone else. It's important that you know, there is some fairly graphic abuse taking place in here, towards both of them, from various directions, both physically and verbally. It was hard to take but essential to understanding these characters and where they are coming from, why they are the way they are, why they feel the way the feel. But it's not all doom, gloom, and heartbreak. There are plenty of laughs whenever Sawyer, his twin and cousins are involved – Kendrick reminded me so very much of my own family, freakin hilarious. The support he gets from them and his parents, without hesitation, right from the start, was beautiful. But the star of this book is the blooming relationship between Sawyer and Luke. It wasn't insta-love, though there was plenty of lust, it was a long and hard journey full of pain, devastation, earning trust and mending spirits with some sexy times sprinkled in. If you are a fan of the M/M romance genre, then please give this book a read – it is worth the tears.

“Don't you ever hand your head in shame in front of your family or anyone else. Stand strong and true to who you are. And, if all else fails, use my motto, 'Fuck'em all.'”

Jen's 3.5 Star Review

I knew going into this book that it was part of a series or a spin off to one, and I’m sure that reading all the ones before would have provided me with more insight into a lot of the secondary characters. I don’t feel like I missed out on any crucial details that would have made a difference. This definitely can be read as a standalone. When I saw the synopsis I was curious about this book and it sounded like it was something I’d definitely would enjoy. When I read “Secrets, lies, hatred, and fear threaten to destroy their lives. But, love has the power to overcome and lay claim to victory.” that screams read me. It completely has the making for a really great story right?

Unfortunately I didn’t love this book as much as I wanted to. The characters and storyline had everything that would normally call to me but there was just something that I couldn’t completely put my finger on that just didn’t fully grab me. Their desire, conflict and determination to overcome all the issues they faced were there. Their journey to healing and self-discovery and moving on from all that has kept them down was there. Their internal battles these men worked through as well as the external ones were all there. I just never really fully connected with Sawyer and Luke. I was interested enough that I needed to keep going to see how everything would play out, but it felt a little too sweet, too easy, too quickly resolved in a pretty bow. I think the timeline was a little fast paced for me and just a little bit too much telling verses showing. When the struggle was real I really wanted to be in their heads feeling every emotion they were feeling.

Don’t get me wrong this story is definitely enjoyable to read. There are some pretty hot scenes between them. Luke’s story was devastating to hear and I really felt for both these men. There is a point in the story that Sawyer really finds himself in some troubling waters and I was pretty angry while it was going on. It just got wrapped up too perfectly. I really wish we could have gotten just a bit more from him because no matter what, living through something like that would definitely leave you feeling vulnerable. Same thing went for Luke when he finally gave himself completely over to Sawyer. I just wished I could have been in his head while it was happening.

I’m definitely not going to go into anything with the storyline. It’s one you’ll want to read for yourself. It’s one that has some conflict, a bit of angst but the overall sense of the book is love wins out. And isn’t that what we are all looking for in a story?

I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review.

Sawyer is a book that will hopefully change a few minds. A.D. Ellis has a knack of taking sensitive subjects and handling them with grace and dignity. She takes homosexuality and writes it in a way that isn’t stereotypical.I hope it will teach love and tolerance for everyone, no matter how different they may be from each other. It is hard enough to be different but to not be accepted as who your are, makes things 100X worst.

Sawyer has a wonderful family, he has always been well loved and close to every single member. When he decided to let out the secret that he is gay (that he has kept locked deep inside), he worries how his extended family will receive the news. This is a fear of most gay and lesbians deal with, and unfortunately it is with well-deserved anticipation. It breaks my heart for people not to be accepted by their own family due to prejudice and their own misconceptions.

Through love and support Sawyer is able to live his life without fear. The only thing he is missing is someone special to make him whole. He has had several relationships before but never found anyone that he really connected with. (Just like in real life, when you know, you know!)
I was so glad to see everyone from Torey Hope again, it just wouldn’t be the same book without them. Nicky is still my all-time favorite characters, he shines in every book (in my opinion). He is able says things that a lot people may be thinking, but is just afraid or embarrassed to ask.
I think Ellis gave us a realistic account of things that happen in the lives of the gay population. To read about things that happen to these men can be horrific and there isn’t always a happy ending. Thankfully Ellis gave us a HEA but that didn’t stop my tears from rolling down face. To be completely honest, it completely broke me down for a couple of hours.

I pray that everyone will read this book and understand it the way Ellis has intended. I hope any guys that read it (that is gay), that it will give you hope. Hopefully it will change at least one mind out there that has been previously not as understanding.
I give Sawyer 5 stars! This is an EPIC read!

I received a free ARC of Sawyer from the author to review.

I fell in love with the characters long ago, but I fell even more in love with Sawyer through this book. Sawyer is gay, so if M/M is not for you, then I would suggest you skip this book. If you want to know the basics of what happened with the other characters and The Center+ please feel free to ask myself, someone else who has read the book as well, or the author. If you don't like m/m please don't read the book and then bash the author because it's not your thing.

Ok, back to the book. As we learned in Decker, Sawyer is gay. Decker, Kendrick and Zach were very supportive. He has been living with this secret for so long and it is eating him up inside. The beginning of the book covers a few different time periods, but it is clearly defined if it is past or present and what time period it is from. Sawyer is afraid of how him family will react. He is afraid of rejection, being alone and any problems it could cause for The Center +.

Sawyer comes from a very large loving family. He wants to have a love like his parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. Will he have the courage to tell the rest of his family his secret? If so, how will they react? How will the community react? Will it affect The Center+? Will he be able to find the kind of love he is looking for?

The book is well written, smooth flowing and easy to read. Her depiction of the characters, their emotions and their experiences is mind blowing. I felt so many emotions while reading this book. I was happy, excited, surprised, sad. I shed a few tears knowing what the characters went through.

As the author mentions at the beginning and end of the book, Sawyer's story is fictional but what he goes through in the book is very real. His story may be worse than what some people go through or not as bad as some, but it is sad that people go through this at all because of people's fear, misconceptions, and hatred.

I highly recommend this book to those who love romance and especially those who love the characters from Torey Hope. I can't wait to see which characters' story comes next. Will it be Zach or Kendrick?

Sawyer is a Torey Hope: The Later Years story about Sawyer coming out to his family and friends and finding love. Sawyer pretty much always knew he was gay but never told his family until after college and moving back home. It was easier to just date girls and see guys on the down low. Now it’s time to just be honest and hope everyone can accept him for who he truly is.

“Sawyer Morgan, look at me. You are gay. You’re not a murderer or a pedophile or a thief, you have a great family and friends, they will support you no matter what. It will be harder for some of them at first, but they will come around. If they don’t, you’ll always have me.”

I have not read any other books in this series and didn’t’ know what to expect. But I have to say that I really enjoyed this book. I loved the way the author handled Sawyer’s coming out and some of the issues family members had with acceptance. This was not just about Sawyer coming out, Luke is struggling with keeping his promise to the only person in his life who ever showed him love and doesn’t feel like he can act on any attraction he has toward Sawyer. Both of these men are trying to navigate through their personal issues while deciding if they can have a friendship and possibly more. It really moved me with not only Sawyer’s revealing himself to his family but Luke also dealing with the abuse he dealt with growing up. What a great group of friends/family Sawyer has!

Something I did not expect when I signed up to review this book was that I’d be curious about the rest of the family in Torey Hope. I love M/M and jumped at the chance to read this, but now I want to know how Decker and Katie ended up together and what about all of the parents in this series. Darn it! Now I have all these books to add to my TBR. Somehow though I know that finding a new author to enjoy was in my best interest.

This is the third book in the Torey Hope series, but the first book I have read by A D Ellis and I loved it, so will you.

This book is about Sawyer Morgan one of Nate and Libby Morgan's Twin boys. You will struggle with Sawyer as he comes to grips with being Gay, you will feel for him as he fears his family won't except him but also how he try's to be normal not really understanding his attractions to men. Trying to have a girl friend (Kate) but not have any spark. Kate helps him along the way and their love for one another as friends never fail.

You will follow Sawyer's story from the age of sixteen, through his collage years until present day.

He longs for that special one but never really finds him. Sawyer just wants what we all want and to have a happy ever after with a life partner, to be with that one person you can trust and love, and grow old with.

Finally with help from friends and theropy he decides to tell his family who he is.
Once he is true to himself and let's those he love know who he is,he starts to become true to himself and things start to fall into place. He finally find that one he wants to spend the rest of his life with, but it's not an easy ride. Luke has been denying who he is and trying to lead a straight life because of his past and how his family treated him. The only one who truly loved him was his mother and she died when he was fifteen and only had abuse after her death.

Sawyer doesn't give up, he is patient, considerate and reassures look that he loves him and he want ever leave him wondering in the dark. That they are meant for each other.

This book shows us how we have to be true to ourselves and once we believe in our selves we can do anything. Not everybody will be happy with the decisions we make or agree with who we are but those who truly love you will always be there to support you and be there to lean on.

I gave this book 5 stars and I am looking forward to reading the other 2 books in this series. A.D. Ellis has me hooked

Sawyer by A.D. Ellis

I received this book from the author for an honest opinion.

I am a fan of MM…not gonna deny it, so when I see this sign up for the book I jumped. I also wanted to read something from this author because a lot of my friends read and enjoy her stuff.

This book is a spin off from another Torey Hope Series. I haven’t read any of it or the book before (Decker) that is Sawyers brother. I didn’t feel like I missed anything but I do I believe I might have gotten more enjoyment out of reading Decker’s book too. But again, you don’t need to read it to understand the story and plot.

This book is a wonderful look at the struggles that Gay and Lesbian teens/young adults face when dealing with telling everyone they are out. It lets you in on the hurt they feel when their loves ones banish them or say hurtful words when they finally do admit their true feelings.

Sawyer has known he was gay but only let his best friend Katie in on it when he was a teen. We see him come to terms with it and flashback to when he told his closest family and friends. We see him struggle with his identity in college. Now he is an adult and is looking…looking…looking. He can’t seem to find THE ONE.
When Sawyer and Luke meet all bets are off. Luke will not allow himself to feel what he feels and Sawyer will not let him ignore the feelings. The men have a lot to overcome between Sawyer’s family who doesn’t support him and Luke’s traumatic past. I liked the story but at times felt it was a little bit jumpy from scene to scene. I did like the resolution at the end and hearing about Luke’s life was sooo sad. I would love to go back and read Decker plus I really hope that Adam might get a book. He is sooo funny!

Sawyer picks up where Decker ended.

Sawyer has known he was gay for years. In Decker, he came out to Decker, Zack, Kendrick, and his parents. Now he needs to come out to the rest of his family and live his life openly. When he does, he faces the acceptance, rejection, love, hatred, and false beliefs/misconceptions common to LGBTQ people. It is easier for him than it is for lots of gay men because he has the love and support of his parents, brother and extended family. Too often, people who identify as LGBTQ have no one on their side. Like Luke, a new employee at The Center+. He has faced hatred his entire life with little to no support. He is determined to never act on his feelings for men in the hope life will be simpler, easier.

Sawyer and Luke are a delightful couple. Sawyer wants so much more than friendship from Luke. He is open and honest about his feelings but he never pressures Luke. Sawyer is so patient and understanding while trying to help Luke deal with his demons. It isn't an easy task fighting demons and this story doesn't make light of that fact. Counseling and time are important to healing. I was rooting for Luke to overcome his past and learn how to love himself and live a happy life. Even if there wasn't a HEA for them as a couple. Everyone deserves happiness and love.

I am so pleased with the way A.D. Ellis has handled difficult topics in her books. She has approached these topics with respect for those affected. She writes about the bad things associated with these topics and why they are unacceptable. She is never preachy but gets her point across in realistic plot development. I applaud her for tackling these difficult topics.

I have read all of A.D. Ellis' books and highly recommend all of them. I especially recommend Sawyer because the LGBTQ movement is a very controversial topic and a "hot button" topic in the news and in politics. Plus, Sawyer is just a darn good story.

*** ARC provided to Bayou Book Junkie in exchange for a fair and honest review. ***

Sawyer has been hiding being gay from his family for a long time for fear that they will reject him and the repercussions that him coming out in a small town like Torey Hope could have, both in his life and for his family and their business. Now that he's back from college, he's intent on coming out and start living his life as he should.

Luke is the new martial arts professor at The Center+, Sawyer's family business, he's a broken man and even if he's attracted to Sawyer, a promise to his dying mother and the abuse he suffered at the hands of his father and brothers prevent him from giving into said attraction.

Will they be able to overcome all the things that threaten to keep them apart?

Sawyer was amazing, patient, sweet, understanding (a bit too much at times) and even when he messed up, there was that underlying measure of goodness in him and he has such a fantastic, loving family and friends that support him no matter what, even if some are a bit more headstrong than the rest. I loved that we were introduced to all these fascinating characters and that the author even shared their POV in some portions as they gave depth to the story.

Luke was a bit of a harder sell for me. I'm aware of his hangups and all he went through, but in my opinion, he was very selfish when he and Sawyer got together at first, and while he improved marginally as he worked on his issues, it was difficult to root for him as much as I would've if he'd been a little more empathetic with Sawyer.

Still, Sawyer and Luke were good together, they had great chemistry and it was sweet to see the detail that went into planning their dates and the way they worked to make things work. All in all, an enjoyable story, with tridimensional, well-drawn characters that make you root for them and a complex plot that kept me interested until the end.

* I received an ebook in exchange for an honest review. *

I have loved each and every Torey Hope story that author A.D. Ellis has written - and this may be my most absolute favorite one yet!! I love Sawyer, his kindness, his sense of family and his struggle with himself to be true to himself. The author really makes the characters become a part of your family and you feel like you are at The Center+ right along with them.

Author A.D. Ellis weaves a magical tale of love, family, small towns and big dreams and it makes the reader instantly fall in love with it all. The reader can dive right into this series and feel like they are spending time with friends that they have had forever. The reader feels connected and a part of the story and it is with complete sadness each time they reach the end of the book. I never want the story to stop, but yet it must and I must be ok with waiting for the next one to come out. Each character/family member in the story becomes a favorite and the reader laughs, cries, yells, and cheers for them as they are running through the entire gamut of emotions that the author evokes.

This series is a can't miss and is a must for all readers!! The way the author tackles the harder issues in life makes the reader feel admiration and respect for her as she is so careful and so educated about them. The reader feels an instant kinship with the author based on her telling of the story and each story is a bit better than the last (even though it seems impossible). Run to the amazon app and one-click or order all of the books in this series - they will leave you wanting more each time!! Enjoy this one and all of the others as they are bound to be instant favorites!!

I received this book in exchange for a review.

Another wonderful and well written book by A.D. Ellis. This book contains all the emotion and concerns family and friends would have for a loved one that is gay. Ellis elegantly writes Sawyer’s love story with Luke and shows that being gay is not a life style choice for them, it’s who they are. She writes their story teaching love and acceptance for everybody no matter their sexuality, race or disability. Everyone should be accepted for who they are and the Torey Hope family helps us to see that through their love for their family.

Just like all the other Torey Hope novels I absolutely love Sawyer. In this book we get to meet all the the beloved Torey Hope characters as Sawyer strives to be true to himself. After hiding that he his gay for many years Sawyer gathers courage from his parents, brother and cousins to tell the rest of his family his secret. Some of Sawyer’s family excepted his homosexuality while others refused to believe the truth. Some of Sawyer’s family members had to face some hard truths. After the backing of his family parents and cousins they finally where able to help the others accept Sawyer for who he really is. Most of his family members where worried that Sawyer would be hurt and have a rough path in life because he is gay. They soon learn the the path maybe rough for Sawyer but with his family and friends he can make it through anything.

With his family in his corner Sawyer tries to find true love. When he meets the new yoga instructor, Luke, he knew he found him. Sawyer had an instant connection with him but Luke’s past threatens their happiness. When their relationship gets serious Luke goes back home to face the demons of his past so that he can have a future with Sawyer

I was given an copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I am not sure if I have ever read such a soul touching book in my life! Ms. Ellis has caught my attention from the first sentence, and had me laughing and bawling my eyes out from one sentence to the next. The topic is such a touchy one to begin with, but definitely needs to be brought into the world, and she has done it with style. it is unfortunate that many people have to live with these discriminations in these times. It is certainly not a choice made by most, yet they are the ones to have to endure.
The author has taken this volatile topic and created a masterpiece with it in such a way that you can't help but feel compassion for the sufferer and almost a hatred for the abusers. The plot is extremely well thought out and executed and the characters are amazing. The book takes us over a period of time, starting with Sawyer during his 16th year, giving us an indepth history of his struggles to not only admit his sexuality, but to accept it and do his best to find his niche in the world. As the time goes by, we feel his struggles, and his many times of duress, especially when, after coming out to his family, his feelings of extreme loss when he feels he has lost some of the most important people in his life, and finally to his unbelievable high when they finally come around and stand with him when he needs it most.
This is such an emotional roller coaster, but well worth the box of tissues you will need to get through it. It is unbelievable how Ms. Ellis has been able to take this "taboo" subject and create the most beautiful love story from it. I look forward to the rest of the series.

5 Stars!!!

I was given this book in turn for an honest review!!!

Sawyer doesn’t want his family to reject him or for his family to suffer at the hands of society. Working through his life choices he knows it’s time to tell them his true feelings. Will they accept him and his secret? Will the local community destroy him and those he loves?

A.D. Ellis has excelled at writing a heartfelt gay romance; giving us a great insight into the trials and tribulations that many gay men have to endure in society today. She helps to show just how harsh life can be for those men; and the misconceptions many have when they find out someone is gay. She does so in an informative and non-condescending way; it’s clear to what lengths A.D. Ellis has gone to, in order for her information to be as accurate as possible. Sawyer is an inspirational young man; he has a heart of gold and although he struggles to tell the world who he truly is there is a reason for that; he doesn’t want any harm to come to those he loves. As much as Sawyers story is an eye opener to the problems gay men face today; Luke’s story will truly pull at your heart and leave you in tears. Sawyer was the perfect boyfriend to help Luke embrace his true self; and to overcome his fears. It is clear from the moment they meet, the connection and passion these young men both share. I truly love the Torey Hope series and can’t wait to read more.

If you have read any of the Tory Hope series so far you won’t want to miss out on reading Sawyer.

This can be read as a standalone; however to fully enjoy the series I recommend reading Decker first.

Sawyer knew he was gay from a young age. He never knew how to go about coming out to family. The first to know was Katie his girlfriend in high school. After catching him with another boy, he came clean with her. She stood beside him and encouraged him to come out to his family. He still never felt the time was right. He struggled with this all through college. Now back home in Torey Hope, he knew he needed to have that talk with his twin brother Decker. Then with his cousins since they were all so close. He knew that living in Torey Hope and being gay was going to be difficult. A small town where a lot of people knew his family and were involved with the Center+ that they ran. He was looking for that one man that would be his forever. Meeting Luke at the Center+, he felt such a connection to him. Luke told Sawyer it wasn't going to work. He didn't feel that way about men. Luke made a promise to his mother. To him that meant never acknowledging the feeling he had for men. He tried to resist Sawyer, but he felt that connection to him he had never felt with any one else.

This is a gripping story. Two men both having to come to terms with revealing their true identities and sexualities. Both having different experiences with what has happened in their past. What happens when the truth is revealed to family. How to deal with it and learn to be true to their selves and build a relationship based on love. Filled with pain, sorrow and lots of romance. What can be with the love of family friends and that one true special person in your life. Received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I don't believe I have read any of Ad Ellis's book. I was drawn to this one because it is M/M, a genre that usually interests me. After finishing this book, I have to say, this will not be the last book I read by this author. I just have such a warm fuzzy feeling from these characters. Everyone is just so supportive of each other, you could just feel their love.

In my mind, I divide this book into 2 parts. The first part of the story really focuses on Sawyer coming out to his family. It really focuses on Sawyer making the decision to tell all his family, who are really close, and him dealing with the aftermath. Not everyone was accepting, things were said, feelings were hurt. But in the end, family prevailed. It's just how I would imagine someone in my family coming out. Some would be accepting right away, other's would need some convincing. It wasn't easy, but being accepted for who you are is worth it.

The second part of the book was more about Sawyer and Luke's relationship. The connection between the two was immediate. Their emotional journey wasn't an easy one. Luke had to deal with his issues from his past. Sawyer was such a patient man, seeming to know exactly what to do to get Luke to find himself.

Even if you don't read M/M books, I would encourage you to read this one, especially if you have enjoyed others by this author.

I absolutely fell in love with this author after reading this book. She took a sensitive subject and handled it with dignity. So many LGBT books are very stereotypical and I found Sawyer to have more of an authentic feel. The characters feel real, these are people who you know by the end of the book. You could see yourself being friends with them, working with them.
Sawyer is a strong intelligent young man, he has live with a secret his whole life. He has feared telling his family this- scared of how they will accept him after this. This is a close knit family, one with high morels- heck I'd been scared too. I think a lot of homosexual men and women fear telling their family, I wish the world could accept people for who they are on the inside, no matter their sexual orientation.
This will be one of those books that will stick with me for a long time, I think perhaps forever. I pray for equality even though I'm heterosexual and a christian, everyone deserves to have their soul mate. Good job Ellis-well done! Thorns & All
