Un bon roman, auquel je reproche seulement deux éléments : des passages un peu longuets qui perdent en intérêt sur la fin, et un style qui, s'il est élégant, manque de personnalité (peut-être la traduction ?).
Le texte est historiquement très intéressant, psychologiquement fin aussi, mais j'ai préféré à ce titre le début sur l'enfance de Liszt, notamment dans sa relation avec ses parents.
Je recommande en tout cas ce roman si vous êtes intéressé par la figure de Liszt et/ou l'histoire culturelle du XIXe siècle (voire son histoire politique, l'itinéraire de Liszt croise un certain nombre d'événements importants !).

Valószínűleg nem túlzott az író 900 oldalon keresztül, Liszt élete tényleg egy kalandregényhez lehetett hasonló. Hogy lehet ennyit élni? Ilyen hosszan, ilyen szélesen és ilyen intenzitással? Bámulatos. És milyen zenék születtek ezekből az energiákból! Annyira jó, hogy van nekünk Liszt Ferenc.
Nagyon szerettem azt az ízes magyar nyelvet is, amin a könyv íródott. Szerelem, na.

It has been a while now since I read this book, and since then I became very interested in Liszt's masterpieces. In the beginning I was expecting to read something really impressive about Liszt's life. The thing was that I was impressed with the fact that there was nothing impressive in it. A talented person like Liszt, with a father who was doing a great work to promote his son, to make him succeed, sometimes even suffocating him.
Liszt's life and work was influenced by his father's constant demands on him and decisions often taken without his approval. Although his relationship with his father had its ups and downs, the relationship with his mother remained genuinely special and in a whole different level. This was later reflected in his behavior towards women.
A secluded life during childhood, when Liszt couldn't play like most of the children do, or couldn't do anything else but practicing the piano and learning courtesy manners from his father, everything was mirrored later in his life as an adult. The suffocating and demanding father helped him in one hand to develop his talent, thus becoming a great artist, but in the other hand affected his future relationships with women, as for him it was very difficult to commit to them and once they became demanding and difficult he chose to escape rather than to confront.
What Liszt expresses in his music and life is the inner revolt against the people who "throttled" him, and the quest for freedom. His compositions were almost like personal diaries, where he uttered his feelings and thoughts.

Un véritable chef-d'œuvre !
L’immersion dans le monde de Liszt (qui était finalement d’une hystérie incroyable) est d’une précision romancée remarquable. J’ai aussi énormément appris sur la vie de Wagner, Paganini et Chopin (mon doux Chopin ❤️), le tout avec un raffinement irréprochable.
L’œuvre explore également le mouvement romantique dans toute sa richesse : littéraire, artistique, théâtrale, etc. Cette immersion m’a poussée à me demander — et ceci, bien sûr, n’est qu’une réflexion personnelle, au risque d’offenser certains analystes ou historiens xD — si le romantisme n’est pas, au fond, une sublimation raffinée d’une névrose personnelle empreinte d’une certaine hystérie.
De manière plus générale, cela m’amène à penser que l’art le plus raffiné n’est peut-être que l’aboutissement d’un détraquement psychologique. Et inversement, le plus grand déséquilibre psychique pourrait parfois aboutir à une subtilité artistique indicible.
Je cite, à titre d’exemple, la mélancolie schubertienne, la mégalomanie mystique de Wagner (qui rappelle celle de Paganini, mais avec une aura moins maniaque et obsessionnelle), et enfin, la dépendance affective de Liszt (très hystérique) et de George Sand (plutôt rationnelle). Bref, que de jolis croisements d'excès mentaux et de génies artistiques xD

Inutile de s'y connaître en musique classique pour se plonger dans cette biographie romancée de la vie de Liszt. Visiblement bien documenté, l'histoire couvre toute la vie du pianiste virtuose, de son enfance à sa mort. Une bonne partie de l'histoire se déroulant à Paris, on croise avec plaisir des visages connus : George Sand, Berlioz, Balzac, Chopin, Victor Hugo... tous rencontrent Liszt et on ne peut s'empêcher de souffrir avec lui de la perte de ses amis.
Entre compositions, concerts, histoires d'amour (qui semblent un peu se répéter, la femme aimée perdant son attrait une fois qu'elle couche avec Liszt) et religion, le récit finit par tourner un peu en rond.

Un livre magnifique. A travers la vie de Liszt c'est tout l'histoire de la musique classique, de Molière à Wagner, que l'on comprend de façon on ne peut plus humaine..

Afinal, o que é música para você? Talvez aquele som agradável, rítmico, cantado ou não, que o (a) faz dançar, cantar e lhe traz alegria, tristeza, recordações; ou então outro som harmonioso, gerado por um, poucos ou muitos instrumentos e/ou vozes, com características e variações técnicas que mexem com seu âmago, seus sentimentos, transmitindo-lhe as mais diversas sensações, como alegria, tristeza, suspense, flutuação, sonhos, uma história.
Seja música popular ou erudita, ambas são incrivelmente benéficas para nós. Mas apesar de a música erudita – que nos faz bem à alma – não ter a preferência da maioria, tem popularmente o nome destacado de compositores como Bach, Beethoven, Chopin e Mozart pelo fato de algumas de suas obras serem mais utilizadas midiaticamente em eventos, filmes, televisão e até em comerciais. Algumas até caíram no gosto popular, seja por sua beleza, seja pela repetição. Mas, excetuando-se os estudiosos, poucos sabem quem é ou o que representa o genial e brilhante maestro Liszt para a música de verdade.
Seja como for, para ler “Rapsódia Húngara”, do escritor húngaro Zsolt Harsányi, completamente ignorado por aqui, você vai precisar conhecer um pouquinho sobre música e, principalmente, gostar dos assuntos música clássica e história. Trata-se de um livro de rara beleza estética, pois nos insere numa reflexão a respeito da beleza sensível e do fenômeno artístico, assim como um fato filosófico, gerado por consagrados compositores do século XIX, época de ouro da música erudita. E, para não parecer radical, confesso que o livro pode ser lido também pelos que gostam de biografias, romances de amor ou simplesmente de história, mesmo sem embasamento musical. Aliás, este foi o livro favorito de Anne Frank em seu cativeiro, fato que me levou a lê-lo.
A obra leva-nos à biografia de Franz Lizt. E, como Liszt, seu autor era húngaro e, apesar de desconhecido no presente, criou um livro muito bem escrito, com grande valor literário e histórico. Harsányi ressuscita o grande músico, pintando-o com carinhosa naturalidade, fazendo-o viver com todas as suas humanas virtudes e fraquezas. Afinal Lizt foi um dos mais importantes compositores e singular virtuose do piano de todos os tempos. A vida de Liszt é um verdadeiro romance e Zsolt soube recriá-lo em toda sua pulsante realidade, como um psicólogo de arguta penetração.
Nascido em Raiding no interior da Hungria, em 1811, aos nove anos Liszt já dava seu primeiro concerto e tinha catorze apenas quando escreveu para a ópera um trabalho em um ato, “Dom Sancho ou O Castelo do Amor”. Aos 11 anos, num concorrido concerto em Viena, foi aplaudido e cumprimentado pessoalmente pelo já veterano Beethoven. Católico fervoroso, cresceu, estudou, enriqueceu e evoluiu como artista e líder viajando toda por toda Europa. Como pouco viveu na Hungria, não sabia sua língua natal. Sua base de vida maior foi Paris, onde fez grande amizade com George Sand, Victor Hugo, Lamartine e, sobretudo, com os inseparáveis parceiros Chopin e Berlioz. Foi admirado e reverenciado por inúmeros músicos, pela nobreza européia e até por monarcas de diversas nações.
Em 1847 Liszt, convidado pelos soberanos alemães, aceitou o cargo de mestre de capela em Weimar, cidade de Goethe e de Schiller. Lá criou o poema sinfônico e escreveu considerável número de obras, entre as quais seus 14 poemas sinfônicos. Empregou toda a sua autoridade para tornar conhecidas as obras de Wagner, seu idólatra, cujo “Lohengrin” fez representar pela primeira vez. Wagner o venerava e Liszt apostava nele como um revolucionário da música, promovendo, apoiando e prestigiando-o sempre que possível.
Dentre sua principais obras estão 19 rapsódias húngaras, sendo que a Rapsódia nº 2 ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=goeOU... ), a mais tocada delas, tornou-se muito popular até como trilha sonora de desenhos animados. De suas magníficas peças para piano destaca-se a peça nº 3, conhecida como “Liebestraum”, a qual faz parte do repertório de aclamados pianistas de todos os tempos ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KpOtu... ).
Era um cobiçado homem bonito e não resistia a uma bela mulher. Casou-se não oficialmente com três delas, lindas e de forte personalidade. A música sempre o separou de seus filhos. E, Cósima, uma de suas filhas, casou-se atribuladamente com Wagner, dando-lhe, além dos netos, inúmeros aborrecimentos. Passou seus últimos anos entre Roma, Weimar e Budapeste, festejado como nunca o fora nenhum outro músico. Morreu em Bayreuth, na Baviera, aos 74anos.
Não há, infelizmente, novas edições para este valioso livro. Apenas as editoras Globo (RS 1944) e Melhoramentos (Coleção Caminhos da Vida, volume 28, de 1954). E por incrível que pareça, vários exemplares podem ser encontrados no site Estante Virtual, a partir de – acredite – R$ 3,00. Se você gosta de música e de história, não perca esta chance.

Auf diesen Roman wurde ich nur durch Zufall aufmerksam, als ich nach einer literarischen Bearbeitung von Liszts Leben suchte. Diesen bewunderte ich bislang auf der einen Seite seiner schier unglaublichen Schaffenskraft wegen, aber natürlich auch für die ihm nachgesagte Virtuosität auf dem Klavier.
Es war in der Tat sehr aufschlussreich, dieses ganze Leben so detailliert verfolgen zu können – von den Anfängen als gefeiertes Wunderkind über die wilden Jahre in Paris bis hin zur Wagner-Schwärmerei; alles gespickt mit schillernden Auftritten vor Kaisern, Königen und sogar dem Papst, mit tobenden, nie dagewesenen Applausbekundungen, mit unzähligen Frauengeschichten, mit endlosen Reisen quer durch ganz Europa, mit Begegnungen, die zu engen Freundschaften wurden, mit harten Schicksalsschlägen bei plötzlichen Toden ebendieser Freunde, mit dem ständigen inneren Wunsch nach der Geistlichkeit, mit historischen Ereignissen, wie bspw. der Julirevolution, mit dem unstillbaren Ehrgeiz des Künstlers, der ewig Beste sein zu wollen, mit der zwecklosen Suche nach dem Unbekannten, das die tiefe, eigentliche Sehnsucht doch endlich stillen sollte, auch mit der Suche nach einer Heimat, als ihn Ungarn mal himmelhoch jauchzend vergöttert, ein anderes Mal als Volksverräter schimpft, mit dem Komponieren als ständige sichere Zuflucht…
Dies sind die Motive, die Franz Liszt in seinem Leben begleitet zu haben schienen, und nach der vollständigen Lektüre habe ich sehr viel über ihn, seine Zeit, seine Umgebung und über die Personen, mit denen er zu tun hatte, gelernt. Ich hatte keine Ahnung, dass Liszt offenbar tatsächlich so eine Bedeutung schon zu seiner Zeit einnahm, dass die gesamte musikalische Welt nur ihn vergötterte und nur ihm nacheiferte, kurz, dass er der alleinige Herrscher der Musik gewesen ist! Die eingängige, sichere, aber nicht stupide Sprache zeichnet die Entwicklung des Charakters sehr nachvollziehbar; oftmals habe ich mich dabei ertappt, wie ich ein Kapitel nach dem anderen las. Ja, dieses Buch hat mir gut gefallen! Wenn ich auch schon vorher als Anhänger Liszts gezeichnet war und meine Bewertung damit womöglich etwas voreingenommen ist, so hat mich dieses Buch in meiner Bewunderung nur bestärkt. Mit etwa 800 Seiten und vier großen Teilen hat sich der Autor auch genug Raum genommen, um auf jede wichtige Station und Entwicklung ausführlich eingehen zu können.
Inwieweit alles Geschriebene jedoch auch historisch korrekt ist, obliegt nicht mir zu beurteilen. Natürlich werden auch viele Formulierungen, Dialoge und Handlungen zum dramatischen, erzählerischen Nutzen eingepflegt worden sein – solange jedoch der große Zusammenhang stimmt, soll mir das recht sein. Lediglich so manche Länge und die ständige Präsenz des Wagnerkultes im letzten Drittel des Buches haben mich doch hin und wieder gestört. Meine Erwartungen an dieses Buch wurden also vollständig erfüllt; wer sich für die Musik Liszts begeistern kann und gerne mehr über ihn und sein Leben erfahren möchte, dem sei dieses Werk herzlichst empfohlen.
