This is my first book with this author and I found it to be a sweet love story of two people from completely different lifestyles and backgrounds actually compromise and make an HEA.
The characters had their moment and while Dusty was a strong independent female lead, I must admit I much prefer strong willed ladies rather than simpering misses, Dusty gave as good as, if not better than, she got. She is a very hard working, respected sheep ranch owner in the hard dust lands of Australia, tending and rearing sheep after the loss of her father. She promised to keep his legacy alive, and take care of her Mom while trying to keep them above water.
In comes Blaise, a city boy through and through, who lends a comical twist as he navigates this hard unforgiving place and basically has a culture shock that leaves him a bit bruised. Each run in with Dusty, though riddled with a mutual attraction and heated spark, somehow exposes his weak side as he fails over and over to make an impression that he can adapt to farm life.
The descriptive scenery and somewhat unforgiving world of farm life where one literally sleep walks through chores and pushes oneself above and beyond human limits hold the reader as we experience a new world through the eyes of our H/h and also first hand of how a true grapevine works within a small community where everyone knows everyone and there is nothing you can do but accept your info is public knowledge or it soon will be.
My main critique is that this story needs some serious editing and tightening of the story line, as well some lines are repetitive and typos are rather abundant throughout. Blaise's character seems rather wimpy and soft for every time I read about Australian men they seem more alpha and self confident.
All in all there is a lot to like in this story but it is sometimes quite lost in clumsy wording, misprinted words and typos which can cause some negative responses.
For me I value the experience that Ms Rose has shared with us, the rigors of sheep farming, the emotional rides of making a relationship work even when it seems doomed, facing bullies and I look forward to more of her work... once better screened thus allowing a better flow.
