Levi has always been on the outside looking in. When your best friends make up one of the most famous rock bands in the country, living at the edge of the spotlight comes with the territory. Levi was pretty happy with the way things were; after all, helping the Ransome boys achieve their dreams was his dream too.
But all of that changed when Levi fell for lead singer Daltrey Ransome’s girl. These days, his outsider status is a lot less metaphorical. Levi has been cast aside, no longer welcome, no longer an essential part of the Ransom machine. He’s on his own—and he has no intention of ever coming back.
His fiercely guarded exile comes crashing down the day she walks into his new life. Gorgeous, confident Karen Simpson—with her own collection of outsider issues—is the last person he expected to see in his middle-of-nowhere hiding place, but for one night they might be able to help each other to not feel so alone…even if the light of Karen’s presence does help to illuminate just how colorless and unsatisfactory Levi’s current situation truly is.
When one of the Ransome boys confesses that he needs Levi’s help, everything changes again. Now Levi has no choice but to go back to the life he left behind.
And Karen may be the only person in the world who can help him regain all the things that he has lost.
Levi, he's the brother that's not "really" a brother.
But they grew up together and Mr. Ransome is more of a dad than Levi found in his own father. Now that they are grown up he is their manager. He knows their every need, anticipates their every wish, and breaks up every fight.
After some major drama, he left. He's been gone for two years, but Lennon is in trouble and Levi may be the only one who can help him.
There is a love story in this book. Levi and Karen are the third wheels, the ones without a significant other and they need some of the focus off of them. A fake relationship should work except maybe it's not so fake.
This book though, what really got me was the story of Levi and Lennon. Friends of the highest order. And Levi is going to have to watch Lennons life fall apart. Should he keep all the secrets that are tearing him up inside. Is it time to let the Ransome brothers in on the years of suffering.
I cried, my heart hurt, it's the ultimate test of friendship and love interwoven into an amazing story.
If you haven't read this series, get on it. The steam level is super low but weirdly, I don't miss it. The connections, the "family," the interaction...It's all just enough.
I am so in love with this series!! I wasn't quite sure what to think about Levi's story when I first heard he was the next book- how does he redeem himself? My wariness wasn't gonna keep me from reading it and I am so glad that I did! Levi's tale was pretty damn perfect-- I don't want to give too much away, but the way he returns to the Ransom fold made total sense. It wasn't an easy reunion, and it should't have been. But it was the embodiment of what it means to choose your family, even when things get rough. And naturally, the growing romance between him and Karen also follows a less than pristine path to happiness, but that's what kept me reading. Granted, I had to put the book down every now and then to settle down- it's easy to get drawn in to what Levi and Karen are feeling- but I just could't have been happier to see the resolution!! Now- if only I could read Lennon's book RIGHT NOW!!!
I read lots of rockstar romances and this series stands out from the pack. It has all the camaraderie, humour and love of music that I enjoy but also has depth and heart to the storytelling. This book about Levi and Karen stays true to that form. Loved it.
I had completely forgotten about this group! I liked the outsider angle that the author. I mean it's easier to connect with an outsider than a rockstar. in the previous books, Levi came across a little creepy at times but in this book you really get to see him for who he is and it was a big surprise. HE harbors all these feelings that he has just kept bottled up and you were won the edge of your seat waiting until he couldn't hold hat he was feeling inside any more. I liked how him and Karen really worked off each other and were just so perfect together. I really did enjoy this book and it was the first book in months I have read in 2 days rather that a week, so for me that was a great thing. I think you can safely say I really got into this book and was always looking for more. I am interested in Lennon's story now and can't wait to read it.
First I have to say is that this book is WOW! This is by far the best in the series. Very powerful and heart feeling book. From the first page I was hooked and didn't want to stop reading. Relent is Karen and Levi's story and I am so glad it was told and we had a little break from the Ransom brothers and got to finally hear where Levi has been and what he has been up to. There are so many different aspects to this book and Rachel did an excellent job writing each part and they all pull at your heart strings. The only part that I was disappointed in was when the book ended and can't wait till the next book comes out. An excellent read!!
I really enjoyed this book, and have read it a few times since I purchased it back in 2015 but have never posted a review, so here goes. I’m glad that Levi got to redeem himself after the mess he made with Daisy and Dalt. Yes, Dalt didn’t really think how his actions would mess with Daisy’s mental health after everything she’d been through after Ramsom left to go on tour, and Levi just wanted to get Daisy away from the media attention but he totally went about it the wrong way and lied to her also, and basically k*dnapped her after professing his love for her, knowing how she’s always felt about Dalt. I think both Dalt and Levi were in the wrong in different ways. Levi quit the job he loved and stopped returning all their calls especially his best friend Lennon. Levi has always known that Lennon has had issues of self-h*rming and d*ugs in the past and still he couldn’t face Lennon. I enjoyed how Karen and Levi ran into each other at a rundown ski lodge in the middle of nowhere where Levi was working and Karen was on holiday with some girls from college, and their night together was pretty explosive but heaps of fun. I loved how Levi actually saw Karen unlike all the d*ks in her past that have used her. I loved how both Karen and Levi end up back on tour with Ransom because their friends Paige and Lennon asked them to, and they can’t say no lol.
I liked that they became really good friends and had each other in their corners with all the loved up couples. I thought Dalt was a bit of an a*sehole where Levi was concerned as Levi was trying so hard to apologise for his actions but Dalt wouldn’t have a bar of it. Levi was right when he blew up and said that Dalt has everything he wants so why is he still angry at Levi? Dalt and Daisy are still going strong, they have a house together and are having a baby but he’s still treating Levi like sh*t for what he did 2 years prior. I loved the vulnerable moments between Levi and Karen when they opened up to each other about their pasts. All I can say is Dan, the married stage manager for Ransom is a complete and utter a*sehole. Trying to get Karen back even after she found out he was married, and taking no blame for their affair. He was constantly lying to her saying that his wife is leaving when they’re still together, and knowing that her and Levi are together and then trying to break them up. Levi treated Karen like an a*se but she had no idea that Dan had spoken to him before she found her on the dance floor, and made it seem like they were getting back together. I’m glad that they both realised that their feelings for each other were real and they weren’t pretending at all. Karen finally found a genuinely nice guy whose one of her best friend and sees her for her, not just her looks. I’m looking forward to reading Lennon’s story next and hopefully he’s better after his stay at Horizon’s. I’d definitely recommend this book, series, universe and author to everyone.
This is such a good book, and a fast read. It brings back to characters from the previous books, Levi and Karen. The author did such a good job of adding on to the last books, and not just having the same characters as before. You see good growth in the characters from the first 2 books, and you learn more about Lennon, who is the main character for the next book. Very excited to see where everyone ends up in the next one!
Really enjoyed Levi and Karen's story. So glad Levi went back to doing what he did so well with the Ransom band. This book gives the reader lots of food for thought with what's going on with Lennon, how Karen gets sucked into being with a married man, and Levi's past with Daisy and the whole band. Looking forward to reading next book in series!
This book!! This is my second read through and I didn’t expect to like it as much. It was my least fav last time, but I really liked it! Karen is such a boss and Levi is so lovable. The end hit me right in the heart. Also, fake dating in one of my fav troupes so yay! All in all, I loved this book! Rachel dose such a good job with this set of characters!! Happy reading! 💕✨
I really loved Levi and Karen and their relationship! It felt very... quiet, but deep? Like a lot of that friends to lovers vibes, of two people who just get each other. I kinda wish this book was longer though, if only to spend more time with the two of them together. 3.5, rounded up
I’d give this book 2 1/2 stars. I love the authors sense of humor for all of the characters but I did not like this story. The first 3 books were great. I hope book 5 is good. 🤞🏻
A good series. Love the Ransome boys. Levi is kind of like the 5th Beatle. Invest yourself in this series and it is a good ride. Not steamy but a good story throughout.
This one really changed how I saw a few of the characters. Levi went from being creepy to awesome and understandable, Paige is now self-absorbed and completely annoying, and I feel like I should have thought Daltrey was a douchebag in his book. That said, I never saw this couple coming, and I really like that. Karen and Levi are perfect together, even when they're not seeing it. I like that they're not the obvious match-up. It's a slow-burn leading to the dynamite kind of thing instead of an immediate obsession. All of the girls in these books have major past issues, but I guess that's, unfortunately, pretty close to reality. Levi is probably my favorite now because he didn't pull an alpha-male act and try to take control and fix everything for Karen. He helped her help herself, even though it took her a while. Lennon broke my heart. I'm looking forward to his story. I have the feeling it's going to be major.
I love the Ransom books and was glad to see a book dedicated to two non-Ransom people. Levi and Karen's story is definitely about finding that person when you least expect it.
Levi is still trying to come to grips with what happened with Daultry and Daisy and how he felt like an outsider because he felt they chose them over him. He even lets his best friend, who he knows needs him, down, but he can't get out of his funk
Karen is feeling like an outsider when her friends hook up with the Ransom boys. How do you not feel like the third wheel when everyone else is happy and paired and you are not. We've all been there. But Karen is trying to deal with another secret, one that may destroy her soul.
The way Levi and Karen form a pack to be there for each other shows that kindered spirit. When each must face the secrets they have been hiding they each react in different ways. Pushing each other away.
There was more of a slow burn romance here that took a back seat to these two working on themselves as individuals and I liked that.
I could have used some more charged moments throughout but I liked their friendship and how they talked. Some pretty heavy subjects are brought up and I liked how they were dealt with.
It was nice to see a redemption of sorts for Levi after the last few books.
Relent was a book I could not wait to get my hands on! I love this series and could not wait for the books to come out! I got this book the day of release and started it a few days ago and I wish I could have read it in one day. This is the best book in the series. Just when you think the last book was the best Rachel proves you wrong!
The character building in this book was awesome and very deep. I love how there is two main characters but she is still developing all the characters whether this are main or supporting!
This book will leave you wanting more! You will laugh, cry, and throw things as you follow the characters on yet another journey!
There is language in this book and yet I understand why it is in there to get points across, I still think she could have not had the language in there.
I always thought that it wasn't fair how Levi had to leave everything behind after the incident with Daltrey and Daisy, so when I heard that this book was going to be about him, I was excited. I never imagined that Karen would be the girl for him, but I really enjoyed how it all turned out. Karen was probably my favorite heroine from this series so far because I could relate to her feeling like the third wheel. I always love Rachel Schurig books and this one was no different. Highly recommended! :) I received an ARC copy of this from the author but I would have purchased it regardless.
Great addition to this series. Can't wait for Lennon's book. Rachel always makes the reader look for the deeper meaning. There were a few times when I wanted to knock bth Karen and Levi upside the head. I was really glad that Daltrey finally got over himself, realuzed that Levi was right and apologized.
When all your friends start pairing off, it's hard to find a place where you belong. Sometimes you feel like a third wheel, or even that you are getting left behind. Karen and Levi find this feeling to be a mutual understanding. This story is sweet and perfect for those that find love and friendship through heartache and jealousy. The best Part to the Ransom series yet! ❤️
I was surprised that this book was about Levi's story, and not Lennon. In fact, I was surprised that Cash was before Lennon, since he was such a mess. I did want the issue of Levi dealt with, and I am glad that it was. I look forward to Lennon's turn!
This book isn't just about Levi and Karen's friendship turning to more. It's about all our favorite characters growing. Making friendships stronger. Can't wait to read more.
