In The Billionaire Single Dad by Mandy Baxter, Carter Christensen takes a much-needed break after a less-than-stellar season as a Dallas Cowboy. He's ready to go to his cabin with his twin daughters and get a little peace and quiet. But what he doesn't count on is meeting a woman who will rile him up completely.

Tess Adams is still loving her decision to escape bustling New York-and her cheating boyfriend-behind, and live in a sleepy Texas town. But when a single dad with twins moves in to the cabin across the way, Tess feels anything but peaceful. The more she gets to know the oh-so-sexy Carter Christensen, the more Tess starts to think that she should give up her quiet, safe life, and give into passion.

This is my first time reading this author and honestly, it wasn’t what I expected. The story wasn’t as good as I hoped it would be, yet there was something about it that kept pulling me back to the book every time I started to lose interest.

Superstar quarterback, Carter Christensen, is a single dad. It had been over two years since his wife died, but he still couldn't move on with his life. He had never gone on a date and had become celibate since then. He had devoted most of his time and energy to raising his twin daughters. During the off-season, he and the girls went to stay at his vacation cabin at Lake Nacogdoches.

Tess Adams left New York to start a new life in Nacogdoches after finding out that her boyfriend cheated on her. She never met her neighbors, until one day, she discovered Carter's daughters were playing in the small barn at the corner of her property. The building wasn't sturdy and it could collapse so she took them to her house instead. Then the girls talked of running away. Tess was so worried about them and upset with their father that he didn't keep an eye on his own daughters. She stomped across the back lawn to his house just to give him the piece of her mind.

And this was where Carter and Tess met.

The story started off very well. I really enjoyed how they met and how they were rapidly attracted to each other. BUT about halfway through, it started to drag and drag and drag...... ZZZ...ZZZ… I was so bored with the sex scenes in this book! Their first time having sex totally turned me off! There was too much foreplay and seemed like they had too many thoughts on their minds while they were giving pleasure to one another. Arghhh! Please stop thinking, just DO it! One sex scene in three chapters! Seriously?

Fortunately, after suffering through those never-ending boring chapters, I found things started to get better. There was a little bit of drama and heartbreaking moment. For some reason, I enjoyed it though I wanted to punch Carter in the face and slap some sense into Tess.

And unbelievably, I was pleased with the ending of this book!

Overall, this was a quick, fun, and easy read. Despite the disappointing sex scenes, I found the storyline was good and the two main characters were well-developed. So, I ended up giving 3 stars to this one instead of 2.

P.S. How come the title—The BILLIONAIRE Single Dad? Carter had nothing to do with his family's business. He’s a football player! The title misled me!

I wasn't aware that this was a novella when I started. As I've said before, I've read novella's that have read like a full length book. This one did not. The "love" between Carter and Tess happened WAY to fast and was quite unbelieveable to me. For a man still grieving the death of his wife two years ago, falling in love after a week and a half is just ridiculous to me. No. No. No.

Plus, Carter is kinda a grumpy asshole to everyone, including his 5 year old twin daughters. I mean, the girls keep threatening to run away from him... h

I won't be looking for anymore in this series more than likely...

I have fast become a fan of Mandy Baxter's Billionaire stories and " The Billionaire Single Dad" was no different.
This novella was a quick read, but did not leave you wanting for anything. sure their was insta- love, adorable twins, an appreciative single woman, with a bad experience in her past. Oh, and of course one hunky billionaire , but what I love the most about Ms baxter's billionaires is that the money is not everything, they do not flaunt it to get attention and for that matter would prefer to not even have it; or people to know they have it!
In this novella we get to know Carter Christenson a little better, if y have been reading along I the series we have met him already, never fear this is a standalone.
Carter lost his wife to cancer two years ago and struggles juggle hi career as a pro quarterback and single father, to twin girls . Trying to arrange quality time with his girls Jane and Jenny he takes them to his summer home in Nachognes, we're thanks to his exhausting twins he gets the opportunity to meet his new neighbor Tess and just like with his first wife Stephanie, he know that Tess is it for him going foward, but he struggles with his feelings for Tess, his fear that if he starts a relationship with her. And it fails his girls would be hurt , but also how he might handle it, what ensues is some hot sexy times together, when the girls are away which only leads more to Carter questioning himself about what he feels especially since he is sporting a hefty amount of guilt at feeling for someone else what he felt for his deceased wife .
Wonderfully written and with a lovely HEA!
Arc graciously provided by St Martins via Netgalley for an honest review.

My Eglish review

I enjoyed all the short volumes of this series and I was curious to discover the history of the last brother. Unlike the others, Carter is a widower raising two little girls. This is a very difficult job for a man who is not accustomed to this and who expected to raise his children with the woman of his life before fate took her. This is why, he still lives with her mind at his side. His life will change completely when, during some holidays, he meets with Tess, his pretty neighbor who also seems very attracted to him.

It was interesting to see a father here and it’s true that this is what immediately drew me in the summary. We do not often have the opportunity to have parents and I found it intriguing to see what the author had in store for us. I loved seeing the relationship existing between parents and children, as well as the difficulty to want to reform something with another person. By cons, it is true that ultimately the intimate relationship took too much precedence over the story and I was expecting maybe a little more than that. Then, it’s true that these are short stories so it’s always a bit tricky to add a lot in them. In all cases, I had a good time with our two characters.

The Billionaire Single Dad is a slow sexy burn that leads to a HEA for all involved.

Carter and Tess is a couple that tugs at your heart strings. They both have been alone for a while. Tess because she was cheated on and Carter because his wife died two years ago from cancer. Carter is alone with his twin five-year-old twin daughters and Tess is licking her wounds from the breakup with her asshole ex.

They meet one weekend when Carter brings the twins for a country get away, but he gets more than he bargained for. Carter and his girls put Tess' life in a tailspin and she couldn't be happier about it.

Carter, brother number two, is just as amazing as brother Nate. Yes, it's a little unrealistic that he would fall in love in a week after grieving for wife for two years, but it's fiction. And I loved it. Tess was perfect and a little relationship shy which I like is just what Carter needed. Now let's go see how great twin brother Travis is...

While this novella has events clipping along in a compressed time frame, it had all the fun components I enjoy for a sizzling, cute romance. A sexy hero, sweet heroine, and comic relief provided by said hero’s two adorably mischievous munchkins..what’s not to like?!

The Billionaire Single Dad

Opening your heart isn’t always easy but it’s always best to try 4.5 stars

Carter Christensen is still caught up in the grief of losing his wife to cancer almost two years ago. He’s a Dallas Cowboy quarter back coming off of a less than stellar season and raising his twin daughter alone. Needing a much needed break he takes them to the lake house that has been in his family for years. There are many good memories tied up in it both with his wife as well as his family so he’s hoping that change of scenery will change his sour mood. He didn’t know that anyone had moved in next door nor did he know that his elderly neighbor that had once lived there had a niece that was so beautiful but one look at look at Tess and he knew that he would never be the same again.

Tess Adams made a quick decision of packing up and leaving the bustle of New York after finding her boyfriend in bed with her best friend. Having a job that she could take anywhere helped as did the fact that her aunt left her the lake house when she passed away recently. The peace and quiet was something to get used but it also didn’t last long when the family moved in next door for the Spring. Two rambunctious little girls and one grumpy dad took away all of the peace and quiet and she decided to keep her distance. When she finds the girls playing in her delimitated barn and hearing that they plan to run away though she has no other choice but to confront the man and give him a peace of her mind. She’d heard the saying things were always bigger in Texas, boy they weren’t kidding… She knew that she would have to keep her heart guarded so that it wouldn’t get trampled on again but it didn’t take long for Carter and his daughters to worm their way in. Could she take the risk?

This book was soooo much better than Nate’s story! While Carter may have been grumpy at first, it didn’t take him long to come around and even though there were a few hiccups along the way, you know going in that he didn’t stand a chance. Tess was great, I loved her attitude and sense of humor from the start. She had a way of bringing out the best in Carter even when he was determined to stay away. I’m giving it 4.5 stars because I devoured the book in one sitting and probably would have given it five stars if it had an epilogue.

I was given an ARC from the publisher through Netgalley in return for an honest review.

I was really looking forward to this one because I love single dads but this story fell a little flat for me.

Carter is a single dad of twins and lost his wife two years ago. Although he might finally be ready to move on he is still confused on what he wants and what will be good for his girls. He decides since football season is over and the girls have a break he will take them to the cabin where he meets his new next door neighbor Tess.

Tess inherited the cabin from a deceased family member and it couldn't have come at a better time. 9 months ago she caught her boyfriend cheating on her with her best friend. Tess isn't completely over that situation but came to the cabin to get it back in shape and lick her wounded pride well that is until she meets two little girls that steal her heart and a football player that makes her feel.

I liked the idea of these two together because they were both hurt but in different ways. Carter looses his wife to cancer and Tess looses her ex to her friend. Since I liked the idea of these two I guess I expected them to spend a lot more time together and maybe doing romantic type things but that didn't happen.

They meet after a week of Carter being there and they have a dinner with each other and his girls. Then his brother comes and takes the girls for a day and the night and Carter and Tess have a lot of sex until the next day. Carter pushes her away for a week then claims he loves her.

The sex scenes are as hot as the first book but I wanted more of a romantic feel. I mean they are at cabins on the lake. Couldn't they have done something romantic?

I was just a little disappointed on how this story turned out because I really did have high hopes for this book.

Will I continue this series? Yes! There are two brothers left and one is a real player on and off the ice. Rumor has it his book is next and I hope it's fantastic!

I received a copy of this book through NetGalley from St. Martin's Press for an honest review. Several days ago I read the Christmas novella about Nate (brother to the hero for this book, Carter) so it was fresh in my mind and I remember it being ok. I did like how it set up for his 3 other brothers and reading their stories. I liked this one more than the first and would give it a 3.5 rating.

This is another quick read about Carter (NFL quarterback) who lost his wife to cancer 2 years ago and is now raising their 6 year old twin daughters. Tess is his next door neighbor at the family's summer house and he immediately falls for her. She hold her own with him with her sass and is the first woman he's been comfortable or thought about since his wife died.

Since the book is novella length, their relationship is accelerated. Similar to Nate's story, the sexy time (which is one night) takes up a great deal of the book and I did find myself skimming to get to the conflict or inevitable fallout from their night. Once I did reach that part it paid off and gave me a stomach dropping moment of the feels. Keeping in mind it's a novella and will be less developed, I was left wondering at the end how the girls were adjusting to Tess. We know they like her, but she was now in their lives in a different capacity.

Interestingly, before starting this book I finished book 3 in Mandy Baxter's U.S. Marshal's series. Quite a different, darker and grittier set of books and shows the author's versatile writing. There are 2 more brothers to go in this series and I'm looking forward to reading those once they're released.

Out of all the cute novellas in this series, THE BILLIONAIRE SINGLE DAD was the one I was most excited about. I just adore single dad heroes and knew that Carter Christensen was going to be great.

Taking care of two rowdy girls had been difficult for Carter ever since his wife died of cancer. It’s been two years and in that time, Carter feels as if he has been regressing instead of making some progress in his life. His children are unhappy about his constant grumpiness and when they say they want to run away, their neighbor Tess Adams comes in and convinces them to stay.

I quite liked the romance in this one because both characters were very interesting. Since it’s a novellas, everything happens very fast, which means that Carter gets over his grief in what feels like a blink. For the sake of word count, I could understand why it needed to happen that quickly to make some progress in terms of the romance but it also made it a little unbelievable given how hung up Carter was before meeting Tess.

I will say though that there is cuteness in spades in this book and that’s mainly due to the two little girls. They definitely added more to this story and as a result, I think this is my favorite in the series so far.

*ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*

This second offering in the Billionaire Club series is more a novella than a full length romance read and focuses on Carter, NFL Football Player/Widower/Single Dad.

Widowed 2 years ago, he is taking time to reconnect with his 5 year old twin daughters. According to his girls, he needs a lot of help in the daddy department. Enter Tess, new neighbor and recently single due to a cheating boyfriend. Tess is also still licking her wounds...and when the two meet...can you say insta-love? After a rocky beginning, they move quickly into intimacies that push them over their respective edges...he's feeling guilty, she's feeling used...

The chemistry felt forced probably because it came way too soon and way too intensely...I wanted to get to know them beyond the superficial which didn't really happen the way I was hoping. Cute and steamy but a little meh on the romance side...

More a novella than anything but I enjoyed the heck out of it anyway. An insta-love story with some insta-sex but I've read more ridiculous premises in other stories so that's not a deal breaker.

Carter is a widow raising young twin daughters and a NFL QB and Texas oil royalty. I really liked Carter - he was decent, honorable, and flat out sexy. Tess was just the woman Carter needed and vice versa after her douche BF and BFF hurt her. So it really pained me when Carter hurt Tess, whether he was scared or thought it was for the best, I still hated it. But luckily for me there was a HEA and it was all neatly wrapped up pretty quickly.

I was so damn happy to dive into this book! I had just finished book one in this series and I couldn't wait to read about another Christensen brother! I loved the first book in this series. Nate was uber yummy. But holy hell, Carter Christensen knocked my freakin' socks off!

Carter has been in the bowels of grief for almost two years. He loved his wife with his whole heart. She and their twin daughters were his world. Now he's had to find a new normal for his spitfire girls. It hasn't been easy, especially when he'd rather close up his heart and forget reality. But he can't do that, he has his babies to love and protect. Tess Adams is looking for a new normal too. She ran from New York to nowhere Texas, to mend a broken heart.

I love Tess! She's a balls to the wall kinda gal! She calls Carter on his crappy attitude and doesn't hold back. He is intrigued by this little hellion who sticks her nose in his business. The Sparks fly the moment these two meet. I loved the back and forth of their first conversation, argument is more like it. Neither is willing to back down but there's definite chemistry there. The kind of chemistry that is scorching hot. Ms. Baxter knows how to write characters that have this crazy magnetic pull. She can make you fall in love with two people who are different in so many ways but so completely right for one another! It's seriously flawless in its execution.

This books left me with a lumpy throat several times. I love a good ugly cry. And man, did I ever have a good one in this book. Like snot and Kleenex worthy! Carter says some pretty harsh stuff to Tess, leaving her devastated. It left me pissed and eager to see this hottie grovel. This particular scene was full of emotion; so much anguish, grief, lust, and love. It had the full kit and caboodle! I loved every second of it!

Bloody hell...these Christensen brothers are lethal with their tongues...ummm, in a couple of ways actually. The filthy sweet nothings are panty dropping deliciousness. Mandy Baxter can write sex. Like, the kind that may have you seeking out your partner! Sigh...ya, I liked it.

Carter has to let go of his guilt that he's betraying his dead wife in order to fully let Tess in. I could feel his grief. It was palpable and it sat on my chest. Tess has her own issues. Trusting Carter not to break her heart isn't easy. These likeable characters had me rooting for them from the start. I needed them to find their peace and happiness. Mandy Baxter didn't disappoint!

I read book one and two in a 24 hour period. I have a hangover. But that's a good thing! I like the lingering "feels" that I have. I find myself thinking about these fictional people while I'm going about my day. That there, is the sign of a well written book. I can't wait for the next brother to fall to his knees for another strong, worthy heroine! And I suspect Travis Christensen will fall pretty damn hard!

After learning that her grandmother has graciously left her a beach front property in Nacogdoches, Tess Adams wholeheartedly believes she has just been handed the golden ticket to a much needed life reboot. The idea of leaving the big city and all her relationship baggage behind for a life filled with peace and tranquility puts her mind at ease and gives her hope that things might finally be going her way. She is still struggling with the pain from a bad breakup, but thinks putting her heart and soul into fixing up her new place is the perfect way for her to finally get over ex and get the closure she so desperately needs. After only a few days in her new place she starting to think this just what she needed...that is until her peaceful little retreat is interrupted by a devastatingly handsome, yet slightly grouchy, neighbor and his daughters move in next door...

After a lackluster season on the football field Carter Christensen is more than ready for a visit to his beachfront cabin in Nacogdoches, and figures it might be just the perfect getaway for him and his twin daughters.. The loss of his wife, and taking on the role as a single parent has been weighing heavy on his shoulders and has effected his focus on the field. Knowing that his days on the field could be numbered, if he doesn't get his head right, doesn't set well with him and has him hoping that a secluded break from reality will help him get his head back in the game. He has dwelled on the death of his wife for far too long, and he knows it's time for him to finally move on and try to discover happiness with someone else, but the idea of letting someone in again petrifies him. That is of course until he discovers the beautiful new next door neighbor...

This is my second visit to this series, and I have to say that this visit was even better than the first, I thoroughly enjoyed every minute I spent reading Carter and Tess's story, one sentence in, and I was immediately captivated, The chemistry between these two burned brightly from start to finish, and every encounter they had was filled with so much passion and intensity that I found myself in need of a fan! I love reading a good enemies to lovers story and I have to say that this one DEFINITELY surpassed my expectations, Ms. Baxter has created a true literary treat for readers with this one, and cemented herself a permanent place on my go to authors list! Highly recommend you add this series to your reading list, it's sure to satisfy all your reading needs, and then some!

I thoroughly enjoy Baxter’s various Billionaire’s Club series. They’re quick reads with plenty of romance and steam with leading men who are down-to-earth despite their wealth and leading ladies who are sassy and not afraid to speak their minds. The Billionaire Single Dad was no different in this aspect as Carter and Tess navigate one another’s landmines as they come to terms with the attraction between them.

While I was initially hesitant about the single dad angle, Carter’s daughters played an integral part in how Carter and Tess come to meet. It made for a rather entertaining first encounter (at least for the reader) and despite their less than stellar beginning, it made for a good foundation upon which to build a friendship and more – genuine concern for Carter’s daughters. As this is a novella, the attraction and relationship unfold rather quickly, but with Carter being on a vacation of sorts and Tess just starting to build a new life in Texas, they spend enough time together that it doesn’t feel as rushed because we get to spend time with them as they get to know one another. Where the single dad aspect really came into play was when Carter’s brother takes the girls for an outing and overnight stay. This child-free time gave Carter and Tess the time they needed to investigate their physical attraction, and they were quite thorough in their endeavor. Wowser!

Yet despite their obvious compatibility both in bed and out, Carter won’t even entertain the idea of a relationship with Tess beyond their marathon bedroom session. It was as if he didn’t believe that the first woman he’d had any interest in since his wife’s death could be anything more than just a rebound. That he used his girls as an excuse for distance infuriated me on Tess’s behalf and made me want to smack Carter upside the back of the head. Now if you’ve read any of Baxter’s Billionaire’s Club books, then you know that everything works out in the end. But you’ll have to read The Billionaire Single Dad for yourself to find out what Carter must do to fix Tess’s broken heart and give them their happily ever after, and if you enjoy quick and steamy romances, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. I’m already looking forward to reading the next book in The Billionaire's Club: Texas Heartthrobs series because I can’t wait to see what Baxter has in store for The Billionaire Heartbreaker, Travis.

Another cute sweet read of second chances one man lost his wife two years ago and is afraid to love again for fear of losing again. One woman who thought she found Mr. Right who made her feel so loved only to find out he was messing around with her best friend is afraid to love again in fear all men are the same. These two people meet he falls for her and she for him and his cute kids but he walks away. Will his fear keeping him from finding the women of his dreams or will his dead wife who he loved keep him from finding his HAE.

The author gives you wonderful sweet characters that you can relate to along with wonderful supporting characters who tell it like it is. This is a fast read with a fast pace where you find friendship, love, laughter and need along with some very heated scenes. Carter might play football for the cowboys but he is really a down to earth man who puts family first. He isn’t looking for love or a one nightstand he just wants to raise his twins and give them a good life. When the lady moves in next door and her hot temper cuts him to the soul he takes a second look and finds he can’t walk away. He won’t give in to the passion his wife is still too much a part of him. I really liked Carter, I adored his twins and his brothers. All want what is best for this family and will push him to see them happy.

Tess doesn’t like Carter at first but he grew on her. Those twins of his take her heart and runs with it. She too isn’t looking for love but finds she can’t walk away from the hot man who makes her crazy. Tess is really down to earth and has no idea who Carter is. She is just taking time away from people to live a quite life and get over being betrayed by her ex. She is sweet, caring and loving who believes in helping.

The author gives you a well written story filled of pain, sorrow, starting over, fear, need, passion, and a HAE. You can feel Carters struggles of work, being a single father and doing what is best for all of them. You can feel his love for his dead wife and the struggles he has of moving on without her along with starting a new relationship. He always puts his girls first never wanting a woman to come into their lives not only leaving him but his girls. This really was a heart touching read that I couldn’t put down. I thought this was a delightful read that most will enjoy.

Mandy Baxter's Billionaire books are my new crack. I'm not sure if it is because I've fallen in love with the Christensen brothers for being so different from your average billionaires, but I need more of these books.

I liked Tess from the moment she appeared on the page. She didn't take any crap off her cheating boyfriend when she caught him with her best friend, and moved across the country to get a fresh start. She also has no problem standing up to her neighbor when his twin daughters take up refuge in her barn to run away from him for being so grumpy. I also loved she had no idea who he was or that he was the quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys. Seriously cracked me up.

Carter really is a good dad to his twins. Yes he is pretty cranky after being at the cabin for a week, but his girls have so much energy, any single parent would be cranky by that point. I love both Tess and Carter were attracted to one another pretty quickly, and yet they included the girls in their time together in the beginning. I knew it wouldn't be an easy road for Tess and Carter as a couple once he talked to his brother about his feelings of guilt about moving on after his wife's death. Yes it had been 2 years, but she was the love of his life and it made me love him even more that he wanted to protect that love. Of course, Carter and Tess have such smoking hot chemistry, they aren't able to stay away from each other for long. Especially when the girls go away to spend the night with their Uncle Nate.

I have to say my emotions were a little all over the place while reading The Billionaire Single Dad. I wanted Carter and Tess together so much, him pulling back made me want to punch him. While at the same time I wanted to hug him for the fact he still loved his wife and was afraid of loss again. Tess totally got both Carter and his girls, and it made me love her even more for the patience she showed them all.

The Billionaire Single Dad was another winner from Mandy Baxter for me. I actually have her next U.S. Marshall book on my kindle right now to read and I can't wait to dive back in for another Mandy Baxter story.

In this installment of the "A Billionaire's Club Story" by Mandy Baxter, Mandy introduces us to Carter Christensen. He's a widow, a father of 5-year old twins, a famous NFL quarterback, oh and a billionaire.

His wife died two years ago. She was his high school sweetheart and he can't see life without her. He's trying to do the best he can with his daughters but he knows he won't be enough. That when his daughters grow older they'll need someone. Yet the thought of him dating is kind of crazy for him. The only person he ever dated was his late wife.

Tess Adams moved into the cabin next door to his place at a vacation like area. Though most people go there to take some time off, Tess's situation is different. She inherited the place from her late aunt and after finding out that her ex-boyfriend cheated on her with her friend she decided to move from NY to Texas.

She catches a glimpse of Carter the same that he does of her but no one makes a move. Not until Carter's twins decide they've had enough of their dad and ran away. They ran away to Tess's barn.

Tess strikes a friendship with the girls, then goes off on Carter at his curt attitude. Though it doesn't last long because Carter decides Tess may just be who he needs.

Overall this is a cute read but now what I expected. The chemistry between Carter and Tess feels forced. They both have their own issues to deal with but in their interactions Tess just seems insincere toward Carter. When she finds that he's one of the famous Christensens, hence loaded, all the questions she asks and the thoughts she has make her sound almost like a gold-digger. In a nutshell, I didn't like Tess. Carter is also way too rough around the edges, and I guess he is meant to be that way. Perhaps if the heroine would've been different he wouldn't come across that way.

I received this book for an honest review by NetGalley and the publisher.

Wow. This is the second book in the series and it made my skin tingle. Ms. Baxter did an outstanding job of providing me visual illustrations through her words. I found the story closely aligned with reality but still provided enough of a fairytale. (I'll let you decide)

The story is about Carter and Tess. Carter lost his wife two years prior and hasn’t found his way to happiness since that day. He is the loving father of two adorable five year old twins, Jenny and Jane. The girls give new meaning to the words tomboy and double-trouble. Tess has just transplanted to start over after her so called best friend decided that she would have her way with Tess’s fiancée. Jane and Jenny find their way onto her property and when Tess confronts Carter the sparks ignite.

Will Tess be able to trust again after the devastation of her most recent relationship?

Will Carter’s guilt keep him from moving forward? Will the girls be able to take another heartbreak?

Ms. Baxter’s word developed a beautiful story that took me on so many emotional levels. She made me feel the raw emotions of Carter and Tess’s experiences as if they were part of my daily life. I found my skin tingling from the raw emotions when they were just near each other and the chemistry flew off the pages. I found the twins totally realistic and adorable, I was laughing out loud of some of the situations the kids had gotten into.

I look forward to reading the next book in the series because Ms. Baxter is an excellent storyteller providing the reading with vivid illustrations that make you want to reach out and touch the characters.

Received a copy of the title in exchange for an honest review.

Mandy Baxter's writing style is definitely easy to read; at times the writing isn't as intriguing as others, but the full of it, the bottom line? It's believable -- and I certainly love a good story that seems like it happen to just about any person on the street.

Tess moves well-across the country to find herself after everything she knows proves to be false. She has every intention on enjoying her new, quiet life (because Texas is certainly not NYC) but things start to change when Carter and his twin move in across the way.

Carter lost a lot when his wife passed away, and he's trying to be a single dad to his twin daughters. He definitely has a bit of learning to do with being the solo parent, but I did feel he was trying the best he could in his grieving state -- he went from being the breadwinner and home sometimes dad, to the only parent. The girls, too, had to do some molding and learning with the change, and their grieving process was evident in their actions and reactions to their father.

As a novella, I was expecting the quick-love. I prefer a novella with time jumps and certain scenes omitted to save word count. I wasn't quite the fan of essentially the instant family; given a longer word count, I feel that there would have been more time and space for Tess to grow into the family unit of Carter and his daughters, rather than essentially throwing her into the mix.

All together though, I was content with what Ms. Baxter brought to the table.

I received a free copy of this novel from the publisher via netgalley in return for an honest review.

I didn't realise until I started to write this review that I had read any other books by Mandy Baxter - unfortunately, when I checked Calibre I found that I was not a fan.

Single widowed man, Carter Christensen, father to twin daughters takes a long holiday in a sleepy Texas town. His palatial home is slap bang next to a small cottage which Tess Adams inherited from her grandmother and has decided to live in after she found her boyfriend in bed with her best friend.

Things aren't going well. Carter is still grieving for his wife and finds twin daughters too difficult to cope with. Tess has plans to renovate her grandmother's house - but can't find the motivation. He's grumpy, she's judgemental.

I think that maybe I had the wrong expectations of this novel. I was expecting a light-hearted Pollyanna-esque romance (or maybe The Parent Trap) featuring a widower, twin girls and a single woman. Instead, in a novella of 109 pages, there was a single sex scene (evening) of 27 pages, followed within four pages with another one (thankfully shorter).

I didn't enjoy this because it felt too much like two different stories crushed together. A sex-filled story and a PG-rated story which didn't really gel.

This wasn't my cup of tea. Recommended for people who want a sexy novella with a light plot.

This book is part of a series with brothers who inherit money from their father whom they did not care for. Some of the brothers already have money and this book is about the brother who is the quarterback for the pro team in Dallas, and is also a single dad. His wife passed away and is now raising twin daughters by himself. Cater decides to take the girls to his cabin and spend some time alone with them. Tess Adams is going to the cabin that she inherited to get away from a cheating boyfriend who she has broken up with. Carter is surprised that someone is at the cabin next to his, and when he finds out that a good looking women is there it throughs him into a tail spin. He does not know how to react to the emotions he is feelings, and he feels like he is doing something wrong towards his wife’s memory by being attracted to her. Tess is surprised that the father of the twin girls who have shown up at her place to play in her barn. She is surprised that their father is as good looking as he is and when she finds out that mother of the girls has passed away she is even more attracted to the handsome neighbor, but he does not want to act on the feelings he has for Tess. Read this book and find out if they can become a couple or not. A very good story. I got this book from netgalley. I gave it 4 stars. Follow us at www.1rad-readerreviews.com

The Billionaire Single Dad is very hot novella from "new to me" author Mandy Baxter. This is the love story between pro-footballer Carter Christensen, and graphic artist Tess Adams. Carter lost his beloved wife to cancer about two years ago and has felt lost ever since. Luckily, his twin five-year-old girls, Jane and Jenny, keep him on his toes. Tess caught her fiancee in bed with her best friend and as a result, relocated to her late grandmother's cabin on Lake Nacogdoches to start afresh. Carter and Tess are new neighbors and the heat they generate is full of lustful passion.

Wow, is this a scorcher of a read. Ms. Baxter beautifully combines developing feelings with yearning and desire. The raw emotions that Carter and Tess experience are truly tangible. I found the twins to be totally adorable and looked forward to every scene that they were a part of. Their cuteness and realism had me laughing out loud on more than one occasion. Ms, Baxter is a very good storyteller and I connected to all the characters very quickly. Overall, I liked this novella, but I would have enjoyed it even more with a little less sex and a little more romance and plot.

Carter Christensen is a rich Dallas Cowboy football player who has had a bad season and he has had a hard time since his wife died. He takes some time off to care for his twin daughters and to see about getting his life together. His life has been a mess since her death, he has been perpetually sour since her passing and his daughters miss their happy dad and they want to run away. They confess their plans to a neighbor Ms Tess Adams who convinces them to stay.
Tess has relocated to this area after catching her fiancée and her best friend in bed together. She decides a fresh start is what’s needed to have a happier life and goes to her grandmother’s cabin on Lake Nacogdoches to start new. She meets her new neighbors and there she finds Carter with his daughters. Tess and Carter start a slow simmer which builds, and as it builds there is a heat that is intermixed with interaction with his children which is lovely. I would have liked more passion shown in this story but since this is a novella, what was shown was good and I liked the premise of this story. The Chemistry built up between Carter and Tess is shown quite well and the sweetness of the little girls is great.

My Rating: 4.3 stars ****
