Genesis The Philosophy of Order
by Eloheem Ali

I like the Bible. But most people who read Genesis read it as physicalists. They look for the physical Garden, the physical Adam and Eve, and they miss the spirit of the story.

This book reads Genesis from the Philosophy of Order. A spirit is the collection of attributes that makes something what it is, and Adam is the spirit of humanity, not one man. Chavvah is the life of humanity. Eden is a food forest, and humanity's place in it is the role of an ecosystem engineer, the way wolves and beavers and elephants hold up the systems around them.

From there the curse comes into focus. The fruit is not sex. It is agriculture, and every consequence that follows fits the war with snakes, the multiplied childbearing, the rule of man over woman, the cursed ground, the thorns and thistles, the sweat and the dust. Qayin the farmer kills Hevel the herder, then builds the first city, and the cycle repeats.

The Hebrew names and divine titles are restored throughout, with pronunciation guides, and the historical, linguistic, anthropological, ecological, and genetic sources are cited so you can check the work yourself.

Read it for the spirit of Genesis.
