Andy believes he has it all: his one true love and a life of blissful submission. His resilience is tested as certain dark fantasies resurface, along with a drunken hook-up that's back with karmic vengeance. Andy's out for redemption, even if it means reconsidering the unthinkable and stretching his trust to its limit. Because some things are worth the risk.

It's pretty harsh, though. Watch out for those tags.
If I could just rate the kink this would easily be a 4 Star gem. It didn't have the emotional depth and connection between the characters I crave, but it's still... *gulps* Let's just say I'm not mad at it and press on.
The story, however, is very bland. It's essentially the characters going from one kink scene to the next with minimal character development.
Andy tells the entire story and he's been in a monogamous D/s relationship with Ethan for the past 7 years. They entered the kink scene together and Ethan's still under the tutelage of Sir Nick who has a new sub, Jesse. Jesse and Andy share a history and almost immediately the couple turns into a triangle.
Just smooth sailing that I had a hard time believing, but the level of kink helped in the reality suspension department.
Jesse can fulfill all of Ethan's sadistic kinks except watersports (I was surprised by this but whatevs.) which removes some of the guilt Andy's been harboring at "failing" his dom.
Gotta love that instalove.
I thought parts of it were overly technical and wish that time had been devoted to developing the relationship before they performed the pièce de résistance. I did appreciate that Sir Nick was present for that scene since the level of trust required wasn't established between Ethan and Jesse. That was a nice, thoughtful touch by the author.
I also wanted to understand the caning scene between Andy and Ethan better. It's alluded to frequently that Andy doesn't enjoy pain. This scene seems to have been a landmark event that continues to burden Andy leaving him feeling inadequate at times, but what transpired is not explained well.
Thanks to the author and their team for contributing to the LOR event.
Wow this was full on! Please don't read this unless you can handle intense S/M. I'm trying to work out what to say about this. Yes I enjoyed it. I love role play and all the tags made me happy squeal, however this was the most... sadistic scene I've read, I mean Jesse is actually tortured (but willingly) and because it was more intense than other scenes I'd read I had some, 'wow was that too far?' moments. I think the aspect that made it not cross that line for me was all the talking and precautions they took prior to starting. I felt confident that Andy or Jesse could safeword and it would stop immediately.
So yes, I enjoyed and it definitely stretched my comfort zone a bit more.
The threesome didn't really work, Ethan and Andy being very strictly monogamous for 7 years then suddenly being OK with a threesome. Honestly I would have been just as happy with a very short story of just the role playing scene.
This has some intense and engaging kink that is definitely RACK and not SSC. Involves a committed couple acquiring a third playmate. There is hardcore pain play, breath play and role play going on with a smattering of everything from objectification to bondage to service with periphery characters. It is a smorgasbord. The one missing piece is the emotional connection with the characters. I felt like I was told how they felt rather than shown it. Nailed the image prompt.
Once again a story that explores what it means to want to be able to be everything your partner wants and desires but knowing you can't and then looking for a way to explore that with another person. I love that premise.
The scenes are really hot but seem to lack a deeper emotional connection...and while that last one was a doozy (beware the warnings!) it wasn't as rough or in-depth as I was thinking it would be. (And wow, what does that say about me and my limits lately?) Being from Andy's POV made it less visceral, less scary - were it from Jessie's POV I think it would have had a completely different feel. (Also, it was negotiated to death, which while SSC...I would have preferred the scene happen at some other point rather than immediately after, like a surprise abduction? IDK...I read one recently with that and thought it handled perfectly.) The did give me pause and a spike of worry because it's the first time I've read that method as a form of consensual breath-play.
And the entire reason I read it was for the DP and that was like, half a second of action - so yeah, a little disappointed there. *shrug*
KINK-gasm! Big thanks to Adrian for taking on my prompt and totally nailing the kinky prompt picture that I posted. Bonus points for making the story interracial!
Most of the book was a 4-star read to me. I can't say I was really digging the kinky-kinky sex, but it was fascinating. Like visiting an exotic country. I'd like to know what people who are in the BDSM lifestyle think about it, because I felt that it was one of the sanest take on it that I've seen. Here it doesn't make you think that "this person might be either out of his mind or some kind of superhuman, agreeing to all of it so eagerly".
Not every practice makes a BDSM-lover quiver from lust, sometimes they can also feel nauseous on page. And your chosen one's tastes may not fully correspond with your own, which you accept, not try to coerce him into it anyway... I loved that more realistic approach (well, realistic-looking, as I can't claim any real experience on my part), the negotiations and precautions and, ultimately, caring.
The declarations at the very end were so abrupt, however, like a slap in the face. I wish the author spent a little more time developing it, especially since he was so good with development at the beginning.
This was an intense read and not quite comfortable to read. However, I liked that the author was not afraid to take risks with the direction of the story.
Despite being an illustration, daaaaaamn this pic is HOT! And very NSFW Offered for FREE from the M/M Romance Group's Love Is An Open Road event. Thank you too all the amazing authors who participated!
YOWZA! So there were a lot of intense tags, but that being said... I actually thought this was kinda sweet? Am I fucked in the head? Here's the thing, all that intensity was really only one scene. It was a particular fantasy that Ethan wanted to role-play with the boys, and it was at the very end of the story.
Building up to that we got see how sweet Ethan and Andy were as a couple, how stable they were. Yet also learned of a few small issues they've had, how they've dealt with them. Their hopes and their limitations. Introduce: Jesse.
At first he seems like nothing, just a whipping boy, literally. But we get to see how vulnerable he is, how much he wants to be loved and how much he needs to be disciplined. This reminded me of The Hot Floor in that we were presented with a wonderful couple who complemented each other perfectly, and then we were presented with a third who seemed to complete them even further. If this were longer, we would have seen a more in-depth conversation between Ethan and Andy about introducing a third to their previously monogamous relationship, and then again later when their feelings got more serious. But I was fine with it as it for the length it was.
Notice, I haven't even talked about the torture scene. Cuz it kinda wasn't relevant. Just a scene within the grand scheme of a kinda sweet romance.
That being said, this is not for the squeamish. It is as advertised. Ethan's fantasy is a full on interrogation and that is what you'll get. I had some issues with the 'safe' portion of SSC, despite it being completely consensual. Although like Jesse and Andy, I felt better knowing Sir Nick was there overseeing things. So if you won't be comfortable with a very intense scene that isn't really about sex at all, it's about power, then you probably shouldn't read this... but you'll be missing out. *wink*["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
Very intense, good, and believable. Yes, there's dark torture play, but it's done in a way it could be done in real life. The characters have great chemistry. I am not sure I get Jesse personally, but he could exist... even if his desires are quite dark.
Asian sub as a major character. Puerto Rican sub as another major character. Felt this short tried too hard to be "diverse". Really didn't quite click with any of the characters.
A good author and writing style can usually make me overcome my hatred to ménage, this book did not. I really liked it up until the introduction of Jesse. I never got over my jealous streak for Andy. I hated Jesse and wanted him to go away and for Ethan to be satisfied with the incredible relationship he had with Andy and live happily ever after that way.
Whew that's kinky. If you're squeamish definitely pay attention to the tags. There isn't much relationship building, you kind of have to assume during the two month time lapse that feelings and trust were developed.
This was beyond any boundaries I could imagine for me. very violent scenes. Not my cup of tea at all but I use this event to take a walk on the 'dark side'. ;) I wasn't buying the emotional connection between the men. Sadly it was too much instalove. The writing was good though.
The title definitely says it all... this is not a nice little kink book. There is an intense and abusive scene. I think the scene and the photo in the prompt have the same feelings. The photo seems fun but the scene was intense and not exactly fun.
