AN UNPUTDOWNABLE PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER WITH A SHOCKING FINAL TWIST. FROM THE WINNER OF THE JOFFE BOOKS PRIZE.

I’m shaking as I turn the postcard over. A picture of a pretty Cotswold village.

And a Bitter Honey, here I come.

It’s in my twin sister’s handwriting. She’s the only person who ever called me that.

Except that can’t be true. Because, if it is, then whose body is buried under the patio?

She was the golden one. I was the shy, bookish one. Living in her shadow.

Now I have everything I ever wanted. A stunning home on the Dorset cliffs. A handsome husband. A beautiful teenage daughter.

But my husband disappears at night. Our dog is the only member of the family that really loves me.

And if my twin sister is alive, then everything I believed about my life is a lie.

Perfect for fans of Lucy Foley, Shalini Boland, Valerie Keogh, Shari Lapena or Adele Parks.

I have mixed feelings about this one. I enjoyed getting the POV of both twins. The fact that they often contradicted each other made it even more fun to read because throughout the whole book, you're trying to figure out who is lying, who is telling the truth, and if you can even believe either one of them.

Being a psychological thriller, there were lots of twists and that something that I would expect as a thriller reader. However, what's caused my mixed feelings is the amount of twists. I never thought I would say a book has too many twists, but I guess there's a first time for everything.

Overall, I enjoyed reading this one, trying to figure out the truth, and getting to know the characters. However, one or two less twists would have most likely changed my review from a 3.5 to a 4.

Thank you to NetGalley and Zooloo Book Tours for this advanced reader copy!

What if the sister you thought was gone sent you a postcard?

Good Twin Bad Twin by Renita D'Silva pulled me in from the first pages and didn't let go. I tore through it, completely hooked by the story of twins Nish and Ash: one outgoing and manipulative, the other shy and bookish, living in her sister's shadow.

I found myself feeling for the quieter twin almost immediately.
I loved the school and college flashbacks. They gave the sisters' history real depth and made the present-day tension hit harder as Nish faced one threat after another. I was on edge for much of it.

The final twist left me a little confused, and for a moment I lost track of which twin was which. Even so, it didn't spoil my enjoyment, and I'd still call this an absorbing read. If you love twisty domestic suspense, I'd happily recommend it.

My thanks to Netgalley and Joffe Books for the ARC. All views are my own.

BRILLIANT. There are so many twists and turns this will make you dizzy!

The two twins Ash and Nish are so different, Ash is subservient and always in Nish's shadow. Nish is the outgoing, domineering sister. Or are they. Just as you start to form an impression the narrative switches from one twin to the other and everything changes.

The story begins with the now grown up Ash, she's downtrodden both by her husband and her daughter Mia. Why does she stay?
Then she begins to receive strange messages from Nish who has been missing, presumed dead for 10 years. Post cards in her sisters writing and thing's only Nish knows. What's happening!

Ash begins to investigate and a whole twisty tale and a shocking ending is revealed.

Brilliantly written suspense, Renita DSilva has surpassed herself again!

Well written and the flow was spot on it keeps the reader guessing as to what’s going to happen, a dual timeline lets the story come out with each chapter.

I’ll admit it straight away: I have a soft spot for stories about twins. There’s something endlessly fascinating about two people who start out so alike and end up so different, and Good Twin, Bad Twin gave me plenty to chew on. It opens with a chilling hook. A postcard arrives bearing a pretty Cotswold village and a nickname only one person ever used, a person who, by rights, shouldn’t be able to send it. If she’s alive, then whose body is buried under the patio? I was hooked by the end of the first chapter.

Our narrator was the shy, bookish twin, forever living in the shadow of her golden sister. Now she has what she always wanted: a stunning home on the Dorset cliffs, a handsome husband and a beautiful teenage daughter. But her husband vanishes at night, and the family dog seems to be the only one who truly loves her. Cosy it is not, and I loved every unsettling minute.

This is very much an unreliable narrator story, and a good one. You spend the book piecing things together, never quite certain who to trust, and the tension simmers nicely. What really impressed me was how the ending reframed everything. Once the truth came out, the daughter’s hatred towards her mother suddenly made total sense, and I found myself flicking back through earlier scenes with fresh, slightly horrified eyes. That’s the sign of a clever plot, in my book.

Now, my honest bit. I found the final section, when the truth is finally uncovered, rather muddied. After all that careful build-up, I felt a little lost myself, rereading passages and wondering if I’d missed something along the way. A cup of tea and a good think helped, but I’d have loved the reveal to land with a touch more clarity.

Still, that’s a small grumble about an otherwise gripping read. If you enjoy domestic suspense with secrets, sisters and a dash of gothic atmosphere, this is well worth curling up with on a rainy afternoon. Just keep a blanket handy for the shivers.

Twisty, unhinged, and kept me guessing—even when the logic stretched a bit!
As a total sucker for a dark psychological thriller, I jumped at this one. Dualities, buried secrets, and the whole "is she or isn't she dead" dynamic are right up my alley, and Renita D'Silva certainly knows how to spin a web.
The story kicks off with a massive bang—a postcard arriving in the mail from a twin sister who is supposed to be buried under the patio. That hook immediately pulled me in, and I flew through the first half. The setting shifts between a picturesque Cotswold village and a isolated cliffside home in Dorset, which gives the whole book a tense, slightly claustrophobic atmosphere that I really enjoyed. The main character’s life looks picture-perfect on the surface, but the slow burn of her realization that her husband is sneaking off, her teenage daughter is slipping away, and even her own memories might be lying to her made for a great mind-bend. Plus, I connected far too much with the fact that the family dog seemed to be the only one actually on her side!
Where it lost a bit of momentum for me—and why I’m landing on a 3.5 stars rather than a 4 or 5—was the pacing in the middle and a few of the character choices. Some of the decisions made felt a little frustrating just to drive the plot forward, and I had to suspend my disbelief more than once as the secrets started unraveling.
That said, the final act delivers the drama, and D'Silva throws in plenty of turns to keep you turning the pages late into the night. It's a solid, entertaining thriller that keeps you second-guessing who to trust right up to the end. Definitely worth picking up if you love twin drama and a good patio-secret setup!

What a brilliant psychological thriller! Two women. The same face. Two completely different people. But when it comes to twins, is their bond really unbreakable?
The story moves between the past and the future, allowing us to see both twins’ lives, their struggles, their worries and the events that have shaped them. Although they may be identical physically, they couldn’t be more different emotionally, and I loved the way the author brought both of their stories to life. Their relationship is complicated, emotional and incredibly gripping.
The book opens in the future, where we meet a seemingly happy married couple, their teenage daughter and their dog. From the outside, everything looks perfect, but the reality is very different. As strange and unsettling things begin to happen, the tension slowly builds. She becomes convinced that her twin is somehow behind it all… but how can that possibly be when......
And that’s all I’m saying!
I don’t want to give anything away, because discovering where this story is heading is such a huge part of the enjoyment. I found myself completely engrossed, constantly wanting to know what was going to happen next. The alternating timelines worked brilliantly, gradually revealing more of the twins’ past while keeping me guessing about how everything would eventually come together.
I was completely entranced by this story and couldn’t put it down. Renita D’Silva has once again delivered a gripping, emotional and wonderfully twisty psychological thriller that kept me hooked right to the end.
Another brilliant book from this author — highly recommended!

First, I want to thank Renita D’Silva, Joffe Books, and Zooloo Book Tours for providing me with this book so I can bring you this review.

OMG!! Good Twin Bad Twin is an incredibly twisted and sinister read by Renita D’Silva that has you glued to your Kindle til the wee hours of the morning binge reading it to see how the story unfolds!! I am still in shock on how the story ended as I nurse my book hangover. Dam that was a doozy and one that I never saw coming! Renita is good at what she does-keeping us on our toes!!

Nick Castle did an incredible job on the cover art of Good Twin Bad Twin. Between the title of the book and the cover art I wanted to know more about what the book was about.

What attracted me about the book first and foremost was it was a book on twins. Yes, it said Good Twin Bad Twin so you knew it had to be a good storyline right there and then. Unlike most twins I know these two were complete total opposites from each other which made for a great story. I also liked that their names were unique and totally different than anything I had ever heard of. Sure the nicknames Ash and Nish I had heard of but their real names I had not heard of prior.

The prologue hooked me into the storyline and made me want to know more about what was to follow.

Renita flipped from back in the day to modern day to tell the story of the two sisters Ash and Nish.

There is so much I want to say about this book, especially about the sisters but I don’t want to spoil it for the readers. So my best suggestion is check out the book and see for yourself. It is a great read!!!

This was an interesting read that took an unreliable narrator to a whole new level! It centers on identical twins Ash and Nish, and it’s told both in the current timeline and as they grow up. The reader knows from the start that the twins are not currently in contact, and the events leading up to the present fill in the gaps as to why. The story is told from both twins’ perspectives.

I went into this one entirely blind and was glad I did, as the synopsis gives away more than I knew until I was further into the book. What made it so interesting was that the stories you hear from each twin differ, yet they both seem believable. Even when you get to the current time, where one twin is being threatened, there is enough doubt to make you question whether anything is happening at all. The last quarter of the book delivers twists that keep piling on top of other twists- just when you think the author has told you everything you need to know, the story gets turned on its head yet again. It was almost a little confusing by the time it was all said and done, but I thought the author did a good job of making it all make sense once I started pulling the threads.

Overall, this was a unique and twisty read that kept me guessing until the very end. Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

WHAT A RIDE!!!!

If you're looking for a twisty psychological thriller that keeps you questioning everything, then this is for you!

A set of twins, one believing the other is dead and buried, but is she really? From the very beginning, I was hooked by the mystery surrounding these sisters and the secrets lurking beneath the surface.

Nothing is as it seems in this novel! Just when you think you've figured something out, the story turns everything you thought you knew on its head. Every new revelation had me questioning my assumptions, and I loved how the twists kept coming right up until the ultimate showdown!

Told through a dual timeline and from both twins' POVs, the story gradually unravels the complicated history between the sisters, keeping you guessing about what's really happened and who you can trust.

This is a fast-paced, tense and brilliantly twisty read, packed with psychological suspense that had me completely engrossed. The kind of book that makes you want to keep turning the pages because you NEED to know the truth!

'I am the darkness to your light, the shade to your sunshine, the bitterness to your sweetness' Ash (extract from my proof copy).

🫨Your head is going to spin!

👭Twin sisters Ash and Nish are very close but have different personalities. Ash is book smart, introverted and shy but Nish is extroverted, outgoing and an aspiring actress. We follow their progression through life and their schooling together starting when they are kids aged 11 through to adulthood in the current day. We get the perspectives of both twins which often contradict what they are showing on the outside. The plot gets more twisted as the story goes on to the point where I'm a tad confused 🫯 at one stage but this didnt make sour my overall enjoyment of the storyline 😊.
With a manipulative, back stabbing twin and a quieter twin who grows less tolerant of her sister a twisty plot plays out. Recommended to fans of domestic, psychological thrillers with duel POV and time-lines.

I received a free advanced reader copy and am leaving my honest review voluntarily.

My Thoughts: oh my god this book, it had me tied up in knots and questioning everything more than once!

I loved everything about the way this book was written, the style, the format it was just incredible.

We’re following twins Nish and Ash, and not only are we seeing 2 different points of view, we’re seeing two different timelines too, now if you’ve been reading my reviews for a while you’ll know I love a multi p.o.v or timeline book because it gives you a more rounded look at the story, so to get both in one book?! I felt like I was being spoilt.

So with the chapters told from the past we very much get the picture that one twin is front and centre whilst the other I overlooked and quite often forgotten about, which left the present chapters more intriguing because we don’t know who we’re with, there are little hints that make you think your right… but are you?

This book gave me chills, like actual goosebumps down my spine, it was fast paced at times, but then slow and repetitive in others, but I think that was fine on purpose to throw you off the scent.

The twists in this one were off the charts, I didn’t feel like I could turn the pages fast enough.

Such a fantastic book, very well written.

Renita is another new author for me and what a book to start on.

This book was just okay for me. The storyline had an interesting premise, especially with the mystery surrounding the twin sister and the shocking possibility that she may still be alive. I liked the secrets, family tension, and questions about what was really happening, but I didn’t feel as invested in the characters or the story as I had hoped.

Overall, it was an easy enough read and had some intriguing twists, but it didn’t completely stand out for me. The mystery kept me curious, although some parts felt predictable and I struggled to connect with the main character. I’d say this is a middle of the road read for me, worth trying if you enjoy domestic mysteries, but it wasn’t a favourite.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy, all opinions expressed are my own.

A life swap with a difference.
This is a tale of a pair of identical twin girls. It covers their lives from their first school through to the present day when they are adults. Whilst they are physically identical, they have very different characters. One is outgoing, gregarious with lots of friends, the other is a loner and a bookworm.
The story proceeds through the eyes of each of the girls, and there are several switches of timeline. I sometimes had difficulty remembering timeline it was and which girl's point of view I was reading about, particularly at the end. This was despite each chapter heading stating which girl and when it was set.
This is a complicated book, but we'll worth a read. I leave it to other readers to decide which has girl is which in the title.

If you like your psychological thrillers twisty and turny, Good Twin, Bad Twin by Renita D'Silva is a great read for you. The minds of identical twins have always fascinated me: their close bond, and how the outside world perceives them. D'Silva uses themes of identity and self-perception cleverly, and I had to re-read several sections to catch the full weight of the twists.
I read it in just a couple of days and found myself thinking about it whenever I wasn't reading. It really got under my skin, and I'm still thinking about it now.

Good Twin Bad Twin drew me in from the start . A story of twin sisters Nish and Ash , one who is very bossy and controlling and the other living in her shadow . The relationship between them growing up is complex at times and the story is narrated from both girl`s point of view . Moving on Nish , who is now married and has a family receives a postcard that can only be from her sister.. One slight problem her sister died ten years ago . This was a gripping and addictive psychological thriller that had so many twists I had to wonder which twin was which . Great ending

Ash and Nish are twins. Nish is popular and an extrovert. Ash is the introvert nerd. She is controlled by Nish, but she knows she is being controlled.

This is a very predictable twin thriller. Just a few of the instances are different to other books with the same plot.
I found the ending a little rushed, and confusing, and had to read the final couple of chapters again to understand what was going on.

I didn't hate the book, but I didn't love it either.

I really enjoyed Good Twin Bad Twin and you are drawn in from the start. There are 2 timelines - then and now, in both twins POV. It's a gripping story following the lives of the twins, but it's clear that one twin doesn't want the same life but she is forced to go along with what her twin wants. I thought I knew what happened, but the last few chapters completely changed that and did confuse me a little. It was a good read with twists and turns, and was well written.

This was my third read from D'Silva, and the third deserving of a five star rating.

Narrated throughout from the POV of identical twins Ash and Nish, it brought a whole new take to the 'unreliable narrator' trope. It was a story of two halves of a single whole.

Although they were identical their characters couldn't have been more different. Their looks were the only thing they had in common.

The pace freefalls and the revelations were relentless, making it an easily addictive read.

The title and synopsis immediately intrigued me as I love a creepy story.
Thoroughly enjoyed this! Unreliable narrators throughout and did not expect half of the twists that occurred. I expected an ending and then was thrown again!

So many twists in this book, it makes your head implode. Going from the perspective of the two twins both present and past and trying to piece together what was the truth, got a little confusing but I guess that was the point. Kept you guessing throughout which twin was telling the truth and which wasn't. Ash and Nish were complex characters with secrets and bonds that even they couldn't deal with.

Twisty and very hard to put down.

I read this book by Renita D'Silva in two days because it grabbed me from the very first chapter. Most of the story is told from Ash's perspective, but we also get chapters written from somebody else's view, alternating between the present and their childhood. I actually really enjoyed the backstory and getting to see what their relationship was like growing up, although some of it was pretty sad and I definitely felt sorry for Ash.

Around the halfway point, I thought I'd figured out what was going on. The twists just kept coming, and I reached the last few chapters thinking...what the hell is happening?!

That's also where I lost a little bit of the plot. I got confused by some of the final twists, which is why this ended up being a 4 rather than a 5 for me.
