The Shy Little Kitten stars in her first Step into Reading book! This Step 1 Step into Reading title has been adapted from the original Little Golden Book story The Shy Little Kitten, by Cathleen Schurr, for children just learning to read. Freshly illustrated in the style of the original book brought to life by Gustaf Tenggren, this simple, sweet story about a shy kitten and the colorful friends she makes at a picnic is the perfect addition to the Step into Reading line.
My children love these little books. They thoroughly enjoy each and every story, as if they are all unique and individual without any cause for similarity among them. Even though sometimes, they might seem tedious and repetitive to me as a parent, I do enjoy being able to read short-stories to my children that are clean and respective.
I loved the Shy Little Kitten Golden Book as a kid, and was pleasantly surprised to find it as a Step Into Reading book at our school book fair. It one that our six year old keep coming back to when picking out books to read aloud. A fun and colorful story.
A ridiculous story of how a kitten blatantly disobeys her mother and plays truant, thereby making acquaintances with good-for-nothing scruffy animals who manipulate the kitten until it is forced to give them a picnic party.
Shy little kitten sees life different from their brothers and sisters. This particular kitten has stripes and a quiet personality, but is willing to try new things, which leads to the best day ever.

It was really fun. My little brother missed all of it, but I didn't care. The shy little kitten became not very shy anymore and she became brave. -Tommy
