The Falcon Club #2

Falling for Her

Rate this book
Jaime Garcia had dreams. Growing up poor, he always knew his chances of attending college were slim. With no father in their home, he did everything he could to help his family, including working side jobs that sometimes required him to do things that weren’t always safe or smart.

One night, Jaime found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time. Sent away for a crime that never should have happened, his attorney plea bargained a sentence that put him in a federal prison camp far away from home and his family.

As the years passed by, Jaime adjusted to his life in prison and found a way to fulfill his dream of earning a college degree all while being incarcerated. What he hadn’t expected though was to meet someone he would become attracted to, someone who knew nothing about his past. Jaime and Erica were placed together in a study group for a class assignment. They instantly have a connection and enjoy spending time together in the military library.

At first, Erica doesn’t know that Jaime is different from the other military men on base. However, when she discovers the truth behind the jumpsuit he wears bearing the name The Falcon Club, how will it affect their friendship and the relationship that has started to develop between the two of them? Can Jaime convince Erica he is falling for her and not just taking advantage of her because of his situation? The Falcon Club: Falling for Her, book two in the two-part series, is told from Jaime’s point of view and should be read after Falling for Him, Erica’s story.

If you follow my reviews you will see that there is an odd time that I jump into a series without reading in order. Well that's what I did here. However I loved it.

This is the story told from Jaimes point of view. Book one is told from Ericas point of view.
Jaime finds his whole life upside down when he ends up in prison for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. From there he meets Erica. Ericas also going through some life changes. Jamie tells us of his struggles in prison and how he deals with it when he's out. We also hear of his thoughts about Erica and their relationship.

I found this to be a super read. I really enjoyed it and look forward to reading more from this author. Loved it.

Overall, still a great book and will go down as one of my favorite series because of its uniqueness. Such a great story about choices and chances in life!

Arc given by author in return for a honest review..

This is the 2nd in the series for this author.. 1st book was Erica's book.. and it left us with a big o'l cliffy.. so when I got the chance to read this one I was sooo excited.

This book starts off with us learning more about Jamie when he was younger.. (as this is his book) We get view of his childhood.. see what happens to him and why he ends up at Bishop and part of the Falcon Club.. This of course is where he meets Erica... We get his thoughts of Erica.. you know right off how he feels.. He wants her but scared to tell her about his past.. afraid of how she will react.. but then after graduation you see how he deals when he gets home.. back to the "real World" where he is a free man..

I enjoyed how he was finally able to find himself.. he knew he loved erica but didnt want to bring her into his world until he knew what he wanted and had a grip on his life.. and that ending was sooo sweet... I would love to read more about his brothers..

Falling for Her by Amy Stephens
I received this book for an honest review.

Ok so that last book kicked my butt and caused me to be all shouty caps at the author. MAJOR CLIFFY that I didn’t expect at all….sorry I didn’t read any of the previous reviews or anything. I kinda don’t like to read other peoples reviews.
Ok this book SAYS it’s a retelling through Jamie’s eyes…and yes that is true but only about 10% is from book 1. I feel like this is an entirely new book. We get to see and fall in love with Jamie before Prison. I get to see what kind of man he was and what lead to his fall. What I LOVED in this book was getting to understand Jamie. Remember in the last book we and Erica kinda doubted Jamie’s true feelings. But WOW is he ever the sweetest, most loving and loyal person EVER!!! WE got the see his struggle with everything until the minute he sees Erica in class. We do see through his eyes a few crucial scenes and “heart flutter” did I fall hard in love with him.
Now the best part of the story for ME, was Jamie’s release and struggles. We know Jamie is a proud man and to see him slide into a depression was hard. To see him want Erica but feel he wasn’t worthy of her hurt. To see him not understand why she never returned his call made me wanna scream at him. He is such an amazing man but all he sees is a FEDERAL INMATE!!
I enjoyed meeting Jamie’s family and would love to get a book about his brother especially after all he does to get Erica and Jamie back together. That is a wonderful man as well and he deserves to be happy as well. I think the only thing I didn’t enjoy was the ending. I would have loved to have a few more chapters with Jamie and Erica together. We get a glimpse and see the HEA but some chapters would have been even better.

This book was given to me for an honest review.

In this second installment, we continue where Amy Stephens left us in Falling for Her. The story is told from Jaime’s POV and allows us to truly get to know him as a person and not just a love interest. You begin to understand what it means to live between in a rock and a hard place, and how good people can make stupid mistakes. Sometimes you pay very dearly for those mistakes.

This book felt much less like a romance and rather a journey into Jaime’s head. He has an incredible family, one who supports and loves him no matter what. It’s pretty hard to find that, regardless of income status. What took me by surprise as my favorite part of the book is how Jaime never changed who he was at the core; he maintained his integrity and soul regardless of what he experienced.

Sometimes you have to get lost to find yourself. While this is *not* the best way to lose yourself, Jaime, his family and Erica came through the trials of fire as better people. If you think of a romance as a journey to love and a better place, then you definitely have one on your hands.

Stephens does an amazing job writing the gritty details that bring the story to life. You become invested in Jaime, feeling his despair and living his struggle. I was so upset at his mistake that I had to put the book down, walk away, and regroup. This was even with knowing where the story would lead! It’s a perfect conclusion to Jaime and Erica’s current story and the beginning of their next chapter.

This is the second book in the Falcon Club Series.
This is told from the male POV.
Reviewer: Felicia Henke

Jamie is on a one way street. He is working what jobs he can get as a teenager, to help feed his siblings. Jamie's siblings each have different dads, and Jamie believes she may be a hooker or a stripper he has no clue how his mother brings in the little bit of money that she does. The only thing he does know is that his brother and sister need food. When he gets the opportunity to take a job that will pay enough to feed them all, Jamie knows its not exactly legal. So when Jamie ends up in jail its no surprise. While Jamie is in jail he gets with a group called the falcon club. This clubs helps him to change his outlook on life. They help him to get through collage while in jail. He is on the right path finally. Then he meets Erica knowing they have no future he tells her goodbye, graduates, from collage, and is on his way back home, but like they say you can never go back home. It doesn't feel like home any more. Then when his family answers the door and a familiar voice is at the door things may be looking up for Jamie finally.

This book was a good book but it wasn't great for me. It just wasn't my thing. It was different with the whole falcon club in prison and getting on the right tract. The romance part was good too. If your looking for something a bit different this is the book for you.

I can't do my normal review for this book because it was a Male POV for the first book, but it was so much more than that. We get an amazing look into Jaime from Falling For Her.
Jaime is very different than what we had ourselves to believe. He was not the bad boy or the mean guy, but this sexy, respectable, man that did things he shouldn't have but the reason will make you feel for him!
My heart broke thru this whole story for the boy that he was to the man he became. He struggled, you feel that struggle, you feel for Jamie and all that he went tru. On top of all of that you will fall even more In Love with him!
Jamie has determination that you don't see much of in the youth that this kind of dealt with. We understand why he did what he did, yet still want to yell at him. :)
This was james story and one that you will not want to miss! My only complain was I want/need more of an ending, it ended beautifully I just want more......

Read this book after you have read Falling For Him, you won't be sorry, they are different, sexy, serious, and so much fun!!!!!! Amy did an amazing job and I can't wait to see what else she can come up with!!!!

3 stars.

This is the second book in the Falcon Club series. Falling for Him was written from the h, Erika's, perspective. If you haven't read that one, you should do that first.

This book is written from Jaime's perspective. As the first book left off with a cliffhanger I was happy that I was finally able to read this one.

To be honest, I like the first book better. This was written almost completely from within Jaime's head and more of a summary of what had happened to him over the years. The writing style is way too passive for my taste. There was barely any spoken dialog, only she said this and I said that.

It's also a pretty short read with only 174 pages.

In short:

I liked catching up with Jaime and Erika, seeing how they finally met each other again and what happened after.

I didn't like the style this was written in.

This story is from Jaime's POV but it is not a the same story just retold by him. The first halve of the book is how Jaime got to be where he was and his life and family. We get to see what is going on inside of his head and see a whole different perspective on his and Erica's meeting and relationship. I really enjoyed this one as much as the first one. I like how it all wrapped up in the end and a great epilogue. You could read this one without reading the first book, but you would be missing out on another great story. This book had me hooked the whole way through even though I knew what was happening but only from Erica's POV, because his story was so different and I couldn't wait to see why he did what he did and what he was thinking. I was given an ARC for a fair and honest review.

I received an arc in exchange for an honest review!

This is part two in this series, book 1 Falling For Him left us with a cliffy so I was wanting to see where this two book series would take us. This book is heartbreaking at points, and pretty steamy in other parts.

This is book is told in the POV of Jaime. The first part of this book is about how Jaime got to where he was, about his family and life before Falcon Club (Prison)

We get to see what his thoughts were about meeting Erica and their relationship. I think I enjoyed this book more than the first one.

I would recommend you read Falling for Him first but its not a must.

Falling for Her is the conclusion to Falling for Him, but from Jamie's perspective. While it wasn't exactly what I expected, I enjoyed it...it was a good read. Reading the first book, I had some preconceived notions about Jamie even though I tried not to. Reading his back story and hearing things from his perspective made me reconsider. I liked the ending to their story. It's how it needed to play out.

I was already in love with Jaime and this book just made me fall ever harder. I really enjoyed reading his POV, I also liked that it wasn't a complete retelling of the story. His perspective is very unique and we get to see what was going on in his mind and how he ended up where he was. It believed all of it. Jaime's heart was always in the right place, just sometimes bad things happen to good people. Heartbreaking, swoony and steamy. Just perfect. Well done!

Falling for Her is book #2 in the Falcon Club Series. Although I feel that Stephen's did a great job covering the full story in both books with out becoming redundant, and that the story could be read as a stand alone if need be, I really feel that you would be missing out on the full dimension and suspense of the plot if you missed out in reading Falling for Him book #1. I highly recommend reading both books and possibly back to back if you are able. Book #1 is from the main female characters POV, it gives a little bit of her history and sets most of the plot for them to meet. It also has most of the details about their new relationship. Book #2 is from the main male characters POV, it gives you his back history, touches base on their new relationship and then continues where the first book left off.

I really enjoyed this story. It was amazing reading the story from the male's POV. I sort of felt in the first book that maybe the male was really shady and just taking advantage of a young girl with out experience. So many times I felt like reaching thru the book and slapping some sense into her knowing in my heart that he was a full of lies and that her heart would be shattered in the end. The end of that book left off with me believing that that was 100% true. That he was a jerk who played her and that she would never really know the truth. To my surprise, the male ended up being a doll. Reading his POV I quickly realized what I thought was shady was a man struggling with a haunting past, a hard upbringing, and shame for the person he had become. I never would have imagined he meant all the things he told her and so much more that he could never bring himself to say.

This side of the story really gives you an insight to his home life, and to the person he is and most of all the person he wants to be. I quickly found myself in love with his family. I felt my heart ache knowing that he was literately in the wrong place at the wrong time and that needing to help his family ultimately changed his future forever. I loved his story of overcoming the darkness that consumed him and that despite the past his family helped pick him up and pushed him to be the man he wanted to be. I love that in the end he regretted nothing knowing the fate had truly put him where he was and that is was all for a reason. Now a educated man, with a reason to want to do better for himself he was able to do everything he had ever wanted and help him family in the process.

If you are looking for an outside of the box romance.. this is for you. I love that the story was so much deeper then him and her meeting and fighting petty personal demons before falling madly in love. These characters faced issues I could not even begin to imagine and fought to be together thru it all.

I highly recommend this series! Make sure to order Falling for Him (Book #1) and Falling for Her (Book #2) today!

This second book in the Falcon Club series, it is heart breaking from the get go, hearing about Jaime's life in Miami. We got some basic background information about him being a federal prisoner, thanks to a jerk in the night class that Emily is enrolled at on the military base in North Carolina. Ray’s treatment of Emily, being a young 19 year old woman who did not know what the Falcon Club was, because she was new to the University was not a nice thing. In this book, we really get Jaime’s side of the story. We see how hard things are for his family at home. We see his struggles and his friendship with Javier, which is what got him put away. Don’t trust a friend that is into things and has a really nice car where you do not know anything about his job. Those are likely to be shady dealings. We know he was put away on drug charges, but in this book, we see exactly what happened, and without knowing exact amounts….we learn just how bad things are for Jaime. He manages to start taking classes, but at the beginning of his second year, he’s told the government has cut the funding for the program, and he is now responsible for all charges. There is no way his family can afford that. He calls his mom, vents his frustration. Suddenly, just as classes are starting, another Falcon Club member tells him after the first night of classes that his name had been called for the bus. This after a few days earlier he had taken a screw driver to the seat of a lawn mower and destroyed it. His boss took pity on him and allowed him to pay for the seat out of his wages and it would not go beyond them. Who paid for Jaime’s continuation of the college classes towards his degree? You have to read to find out. We already knows he gets out and he gets his degree. Reading his life’s story from ‘his’ side of things is really a tear jerker. Happily the book ends on a bright note and leaves a cliffhanger for book 3 to happen.

☆♡☆♡☆♡♡☆♡☆♡☆ 5 STAR REVIEW ☆♡☆♡☆♡♡☆♡☆♡☆

Don’t you know there are always two sides to every story?

This story is told from Jaime’s POV and let me just say I absolutely LOVED what Amy did with this book. There are so many books out there now that are told from the male’s perspective but it is the exact same story using “he” instead of “she”. Choosing to go a different route, Amy allows her readers to really get to know the man behind the uniform. Who was he before he was a member of the Falcon club, before he met Erica? From the little bit we learned about him in Falling for Him, we know that Jaime had a hard life growing up but we weren’t prepared for how difficult. When I began reading this book I just wanted to jump through the pages and help Jaime and his family any way that I could. Jaime worked to help support his family but it was never enough. After meeting up with a high school buddy Jaime gets more than he bargained for. Trust me, when you meet Javier, you will hate him as much as I did. I want to say that it was Jaime’s actions that put him in prison, but I can’t. Javier left him no choice and sealed his fate for him.

It was interesting to me that this story didn’t have much dialogue in it, only when it was needed. Usually I get sidetracked when a story doesn’t have enough dialogue but Amy kept me interested with her descriptive writing. I felt as if I was a therapist and Jaime was sitting on my couch reliving the last 10+ years of his life.

I truly loved everything about this book and I am so happy that Amy decided to give us Jaime’s story. We know why he wasn’t available when Erica called him at the end of Falling for Him and we can truly appreciate the person that he has become, even after all the struggles he went through. The only thing I am a little upset about is that we don’t learn what happened to Javier. Amy left that open to interpretation and I want to believe that he got what was coming to him. J

This is the final installment of The Falcon Club Series.

We meet Jamie Garcia in Falling for Him, which is Erica's book. This book is about her time at college and we get to see Jamie at school while they are in the same class and he is still in prison. We are also left with a big cliffhanger.

Now on to Falling for Her This is Jamie's story. We start by getting Jamie's background and the hell he has been through. We find out more about his home life and his family. We also find out how he ended up in prison.

When Jamie is released we get to see that he still has a long road ahead of him. While Jamie is going through this new journey in his life we get to see more of his family and how they have grown and made a life though their struggles. Will Jamie be able to turn his life around and make a good life for himself?

While reading you will be able to pin-point certain parts from Falling for Him, but it will not be in complete detail as it was in book one. I really loved how Amy gave us a new story instead of giving us the same story just from a different point-of-view. She was also able do this very tastefully.

While reading this book there were a couple of characters that I yelled at and truly hated but they allowed for the story to seem real. I also fell in love with Jamie all over again because of how strong and loyal he is to those that he loves.

Now the big question is will Jamie and Erica have a happy ending or will Erica never see Jamie again? To find out make sure to check out Falling for Her.

Amy has out done herself with this series by stepping out of the box. She gave us a love story that was mysterious yet still sexy. She was also to give a twist to the ordinary college/military romance.

I got the joy of being a Beta reader for Amy and will continue to read and buy her books because of her amazing stories.

Erica and Jaime met at college in Falling for Him. There were indications of how and why Jaime ended up in the Falcon Club on the military compound. Whilst the first instalment was in Erica's point of view, this second and final part is in Jaime's point of view and it's very well portrayed.

Jaime comes from a very poor but close knitted family. He helps his mother to care for his younger siblings and in his eagerness to make their lives a little easier by earning extra cash, he finds himself in a situation he can't escape but not for the lack of trying. Javier, a childhood friend offers to help Jaime to earn some extra cash as a treat for his sister but Jaime doesn't quite know what it is until it is too late. This is supposed to be a one time deal but Javier seeks him out for another "job" which is what leads Jaime to end up in the Falcon Club. It turns out that Javier is a dodgy character, not to be trusted.

After his graduation at the Falcon Club, Jaime goes back in the real world ten years later. It's an uphill struggle for him to readjust and to make matters worse, he misses Erica terribly and the miscommunication between them doesn't help. Does she still want to see him?

Even when everything looks bleak for Jaime, he is determined to make something worthwhile with his life but it comes to a point where he nearly gives up. His brother, Ricky is a tower of strength and does everything he can to better his brother's life. Will he succeed? Will Jaime ever see Erica again?

This is very well written, bringing home the hardship Jaime and his family goes through. The love and loyalty they have for each other are quite beholding and I would fully recommend this series which has a completely different storyline to any other New Adult Romance I have read.

I received this ARC from Pembroke Publishing in exchange for an honest review.

This is book 2 in the series, you need to read book one before Falling For Her.
We start book 2 where book one left us on that cliffhanger!!Its told in Jamies POV.The first half of the book we read how Jamie got to be where he is and how he ended up there, also about his family and his life doing whatever was needed to support his famly. This isn’t just a re telling of book one from Jamies POV its so much more than that you get to see inside his mind, his thoughts how he felt and dealt with things, when he first set eyes on Erica and how that affected him.He turned his life around studied and finally went back home but after all the time away was it even home anymore? The struggles he faces once home were emotional he doesn’t feel worthy especially of Erica, hes depressed and cant seem to get past what he was before he came home. His brother is there for him helping him supporting him he will do anything to get his brother back on track he even dabbles in getting Erica and Jamie together again but does he succeed?Youll have to buy the book to find out!
I loved this book I love when you get a male POV you get so much more insight into the story than it just being from the female POV.You read everything Jamie and his family went through but the love and support they gave each other was amazing.I look forward to more great reads from Amy Stephens

I give this 4.5 stars.

This is Jamie's side of how he fell in with the wrong crowd and then fell in live with a forbidden love.

Jamie was barely out of high school and struggling to work enough to help pay bills. Then there were a couple of accidents that set his mom back. He met an old friend and got caught up with his bad deals. He ended up in federal prison. He was moved out of state but that just allowed him more and better opportunities. He started going to college and in his senior year he meets a girl that he is forbidden to have contact with because of rules. Things happen and when he got out he did not handle the stress very well. But what brings him out of his depression is what he really needed. But would it be all worth it. Does he get the girl ? Does he get his dream job ?

I would recommend this forbidden love story. You don't have to have read the first one but it would help.

Falling for her, is the POV of Jaime Garcia you need to have Falling for him first to get the complete picture. When the first book was steamy this one is more the foundation of Jaime.

I loved the first book but in the second I would of like to know more of what happens after. I guess I will have to wait for the 4th. We understand in this book why Jaime is part of the Falcon club and what led him to it. Unfortunately the details of his encounters with Erica are the short version of what we learned in Falling for him. I was maybe expecting new scenes…

Now that we know the reasons and that he’s a true gentleman I would like to know how this will work and if the steam and the electricity there in the library is real in the real world.

Overall it’s a good story

Jaime is looking for a way to take care of his family. His Mom has worked so hard to support the family, but when she has an accident Jaime is left to take over. While out making a few quick bucks Jaime's life takes a turn for the worst. Almost 10 years later it's getting closer to his freedom and to pass time he takes a college course & meets Erica. Him and Erica take on a relationship that could end before it begins. After Jaime's release will he get things in order for Erica and him, or will life send him back to the streets?

Frankly, since I've read the first book in this series, I was a bit disappointed by the sequel, Falling For Her. Why? Well, I think the author could have done so much more with it. If the beginning had been cut back, had less description of the days passing, it would have read as more exciting. The end could have been a little more emotional. Frankly it seemed as if only days passed and not months. I'd recommend that the author keep those things in mind for future stories.

However, I did love to see his side of the story, and the conclusion was awesome. It made up for some of the rest.

I love Jaime and Erica together. I was disappointed that it wasn't more of their story and it was more of Jaime's story. It wasn't bad by any means, just not what I was expecting/hoping for.

Jaime had a rough life. Prison made life a struggle for him, when he got out, because he was acclimated to his schedule and being overseen.

He and Erica did get what I thought they deserved. It was a nice finish to their story!

Awwww

I totally fell for Jaime... He was sweet and I couldn't get enough of him. This was different for me because he was insecure and dealing with personal stuff that blew me away. I was bummed he didn't reach out to Erika but I'm a way I could get where he was coming from. I'm glad he took the path of happiness and the fact his family were so supportive made me emotional. This was a good ending

Enjoyed how this book played out. But did feel a little lost at times due to not reading the other book, "Falling for Him" first. The author's talent is very well shown in her book. Characters are lovable as well as making you want more about them. A set of books that are worth the buy!

I also loved getting to know Jaime. However, there just was too little of Ericka and Jaime in this. The time they were together was at the end, and that was rushed. I was hoping this book was going to pick k up where book one left off. ThAt was a little disappointing for me. It would have given us more of Ericka in this book. Anyway, the book is good.

I can honestly say I did not enjoy this second book. I felt there was more rambling and made Jaime seem needy. Took too long to get to them being back together...not that I thought they should be together in the first place, honestly.
