Life in paradise isn’t exactly what Kris thought it would be. Treated like a prisoner and forced to keep her romance with Nathan hidden, she struggles to adapt to island life with the Kala. Worse, her specialties are coming in faster than she can control, and she fears the Skotadi within her will soon win the battle for her soul. Her only hope is to embrace her Incantation lineage, master the skills she’s supposed to have, and free herself of her destiny. If only she could figure out how to do it…
The ghosts of Nathan’s past still inhabit the island. Adapting to the Kala way of life again is something he will grudgingly accept, as long as they agree to help Kris. But falling back into the Kala system means being a Kala soldier, and when the gods ask for help, he cannot refuse. Sent around the world on a mission, he faces new dangers and stumbles upon a startling discovery that could change everything…
Together, they face their biggest hurdle yet and put their relationship to the ultimate test. When old temptations arise, new enemies emerge, and emotions run high, can their love survive?
From Amazon’s bestselling author, Desni Dantone, comes the third installment of The Ignited Series, where the danger is real, the stakes are higher, and nothing is as it seems. Continue the journey with Kris, Nathan, Alec, and Callie as they discover that when friends become enemies, enemies become friends, and the battles lines between good and evil blur, choosing the right side isn’t always easy.
I live in the quiet, middle-of-nowhere Everett, Pennsylvania with my three boys.
I've been writing since I was eleven, after I swiped one of my mom's Dean Koontz books. I still remember the first one I read; it was called Darkfall, and kept me awake most of the night. Anyway, I was totally inspired when I learned that he came from the small rural town I called home (true story, I swear!), and started writing freaky little horror stories because I wanted to be just like him. I gave the stories to my mom to read. I don't think she was as impressed as I was, but she put on an encouraging face...and that was how my writing obsession started.
After years of writing for a hobby and taking creative writing courses, I've published my first novel, Ignited. My dream is for Dean Koontz to no longer be the only bestselling author from my little middle-of-nowhere hometown.
This series just keeps getting better and better!!! I'm completely in love with these characters! I love the mythology that develops in this installment. There were quite a few twists and turns I didn't expect. I'm looking forward to the next book!
I received an Arc in exchange for an honest review. Wow is all I can say about this book. Kept me on my toes the whole time. Loved seeing Nathan's point of view! I laughed and cried throughout this book. Honestly if you loved the first two book you will really love this one. Especially if your a Kris and Nathan fan (like me). We learn so much more about Kris and her powers. Of course we read more about how protective and how supportive Nathan really is of Kris. I can't wait to read the next book in the series. Desni out did herself in this one and for that I love her even more!
This was a great book!!!! Once I started reading it I was unable to put it down. My favorite thing about the book is that it's from both Kris and Nathans POV. I love when authors do this because we get to see inside both people's head to see how they really feel about each other. Desni did a great job with this book and I can't wait until the next one comes out.
Sad!!! But so good! This book evoked so many emotions in me, I felt like I was living it. Okay, so maybe I pretended I was, but just for a little bit. I love the characters in this series, and I can't say enough good things about it. I want more!
DNF. The story turned toward Greek mythology, which I guess I didn’t see coming. I kind of just lost interest, and I didn’t feel like continuing the story.

I really enjoyed this book!!! Kris is learning about her abilities but sadly Callie is fighting for her life. Lillian has been captured and Nathan goes on a mission to mount Olympus. He comes back with a special potion given to him by the goddess Circe. He gives the potion to Alec, kris and Lillian. And Lillian recovers from evil to good but she has no memories of what she did but she does remember her love for Nathan and now starts another love triangle. And when kris sees them kiss she’s heart broken. The skotari are coming for kris and she’s worrying about Nathan’s feelings for her. But she quickly learns the truth. Now she has to face the demigod and many lose their lives. I’m LOVING THIS SERIES!!! sad to read the last book as I’m loving all the characters the story the love the jealousy it’s so well put together!!! Great story!!

A so so read. This was better than the last because the love quadrangle was resolved. However, Nathan fell into his own triangle. Fail! Micah is still creepy and pointless. Callie served no real purpose. Alec was the best character in the entire story. Could be so much better than it was.
I loved this series. It was recommended by the author of the course of the gods series and it was well made. Strong female lead mixed in with Greek mythology and some romance. Loved it!
While I am very impressed with this series it is starting to lose its appeal. I don't know if it was the alternating POV's of the relationship drama that after me more. Either way its still a good read and I am dying to see how it ends.
I really love these books. Every time I start the next one I'm afraid I'm going to be disappointed, but every time I'm hooked from the first page. I love the characters, I love the story, I love it.
Much faster read, more intriguing than the last book. Somehow the author has managed to hold my attention for a longer series than I usually can endure (a trilogy is the best IMO). That said, there’s still something that keeps these from being 5-star books.
Right around a 4.5. I rounded up because 1) I’m really liking this series, and 2) there’s never a dull moment with Kris, Nathan and Alec.
Plot: At the end of Sacrificed, Kris, Alec and Nathan ended up on the Kala’s island. Salvaged Soul picks up there. Kris and Alec are still worried about turning Skotadi. Kris and Nathan are struggling, not only because they have to keep their romance secret, but also because their time together is very limited. Micah insists on working with Kris and Alec every day to develop their specialties, and Nathan is teaching combat classes and serving as a Kala soldier.
Things go from bad to worse when Nathan’s friend Jared assigns him on a mission to visit Mount Olympus. There, Nathan finds out about a threat to the gods and about their ultimate purpose for Kris. Also during the visit, a goddess gives Nathan a potion that might keep Kris and Alec from turning evil. The potion also has the potential to turn Lillian from Skotadi back to Kala. Nathan decides to test the potion on Lillian in hopes that she will know how to cure Callie, who is now on the brink of death because of a spell Lillian put on her.
Characters: My favorite parts of Sacrificed were when Nathan and Alec put aside their differences to work together for Kris’ sake. That pattern continues in Salvaged Soul. The Nathan-Kris-Alec love triangle is pretty much put to rest, and Nathan and Alec have even developed a kind of respect for each other. In fact, all three characters are much improved. Kris has finally made her choice, Nathan has finally admitted his feelings, and Alec has accepted that Kris loves Nathan.
Kris does have some insecurities (who wouldn’t when on the verge of turning Skotadi, having a friend on her death bed, and dealing with all kinds of girls hitting on her guy), but she’s much better as a character this time around. Nathan seems really different this time around, but not in a bad way. He, too, has some insecurities, and he is kind of oblivious as to how girls think, but he’s way less moody and broody. To the contrary, he’s very kind and sensitive and sweet. Alec is Alec, and I love him for that. Even Lillian is slightly more tolerable.
The only character I still can’t stand is Micah. He continues to taunt Nathan with the fact that he’s Kris’ soulmate, but he’s very judgmental and bossy toward Kris as well.
Writing: When I saw that Salvaged Soul was out, I kind of dreaded reading it. I’d forgotten bits and pieces of Sacrificed, and I somehow equated that with the book itself being forgettable. I’d already read Ignited twice, so I decided to scan the second book again to catch myself up. Boy, was I wrong! Once I opened the book, I began to recall bits and pieces, and I immediately sped through it, so I could move on to Salvaged Soul.
Unlike the previous books, SS is written in both Kris’ and Nathan’s viewpoints. I thought it was a little weird because as I mentioned above, Nathan was much different than I thought he’d be, but I did get used to it. Besides, SS shares some similarities with Ignited and Salvaged Soul, too; they were all full of action, romance, and suspense, and they were all very hard to put down. There were a few misspelled words sprinkled throughout, but nothing to distract from the plot. In terms of rating, I’d probably give it a PG-13. There is a lot of violence and several curse words. There are also some sexual situations (no actual sex), but Dantone gives really general descriptions of what’s happening instead of providing elaborate details.
Bottom Line: This was one of those books that I didn’t want to put down. I’ve either got to quit reading these so quickly, or Dantone’s got to start writing them faster because now I’m just left frustrated. There’s no cliffhanger, and Dantone gives a little bit of closure, but Avenging Heart doesn’t come out for six more months! I’ve already made a note on my calendar, so I’ll be ready when it gets here.
So...I finally finished it. But I thought it was, you know, FINISHED. For some odd reason, I thought this series was a trilogy. So when I got to like the last 5% of the book, I was like, "What's going on? It's highly unlikely Desni Dantone's going to leave a permanent cliff-hanger for us to assume that everything turned out fine in the end." But that's not why I gave this book a 4-star. I've got mixed feelings about this book. I felt like the first 10% was kind of...unexciting, I guess would be the most accurate term. Maybe that's because most of the events were set on the island where a big number of Kala stayed. Maybe it's because (I'm so sorry to all you other fans) Nathan and Kris just don't excite me anymore. NO, I'M NOT SAYING I DON'T SHIP THEM. It's just that, it's not really a ship anymore. It's just canon. It's meant to be. There's no doubt. So although Ms. Dantone tries to jerk my heart around with all these other people honing in on this couple, I'm just not getting them feels. A few of the parts also confused me, such as whenever they talked about the demigods and their relationship with everyone. Kris's powers also confused me. I'm just unsatisfied with the way Dantone transitioned things, though the plot was, of course, pretty much amazing. It wasn't difficult to finish this book but it did leave me yearning for more.
Another fantastic book in the Ignited series by Desni Dantone. Now that the gang is settled on the Kala island, they can get back to a 'normal' life... if 'normal' means Lillian locked up, Kris and Alec trailed by body guards to make sure they don't 'go Skotadi', combat classes, secret Incantation lessons, and secret romance. Although their lives are a lot more regimented meaning a slightly less exciting plotline, there are still many questions and nuances that keep the book interesting. I also enjoyed the increasing complexity in the relationships Kris has with Nathan, Alec and Micah each. She's starting to learn more about her powers, although they are still stilted and unreliable. In this book, we flip-flop POV between Kris and Nathan, so we also get to see into his head (and his adorable love for Kris), which adds a layer to the story, since he goes on occassional missions... where we finally get to meet some other demi-gods and even gods and goddesses! It turns out there is a malicious plot brewing between some of these powers and the Skotadi that involves life-draining and may explain what Kris and her crew saw at the warehouse. This mystery builds nicely into the final climactic action that has so much energy and excitement, although somewhat quick. But the book is well-written and flows nicely and leads beautifully into an intriguing set-up for the next book's adventure. Highly recommend if you like gods-on-earth and coming-into-power YA books, but make sure to start with Ignited!
This book was like the calm before the storm. Kris spends her time on the island, learning and experimenting with her abilities. Nathan teaches classes to developing hybrids- we get a glimpse of what his life was like before Kris- eventually leaving the island to visit Mount Olympus (what?! Very cool), leading to a frustrating separation between the couple. I wanted more Nathan and Kris time. But alas, they spend more time apart in this book than together, and their relationship, while progressing, still suffers. Their relationship felt more like a real-life relationship than the fantasy relationship of the previous books.
Kris wasn't running for her life, and I didn't feel the urgency of her decline towards evil like I did in the previous books. I missed all the time together these characters shared in the previous installments.
There are some excellent plot twists that keep the reader interested when the plot starts to lag.
The author writes AMAZING battle scenes, and the last one in this book is BREATHTAKING. It is exciting and page-turning and gets you so pumped up for the next book.
By the end of the book, everything is set up for an amazing fourth and final book. Even though this book lagged at some points (really, Kris spent a lot of time on the island brooding and training; she had almost no action until the very end), it will all be worth it. This book set all the pieces into play. A great read.
Dude, if have known the long wait coming for the last installment I'd have waited up until, I don't know, a month before "Avenging Heart" release. According to Goodreads it will be sometime around April, of 2016. I truly hate waiting this long. Anyway... If you're, once again, looking for a young adult paranormal romance with a spice of Greek mythology this book -- the whole series -- is for you!!!
This volume might present a great opportunity for Alec and Kris to not become Skotadi. And while this opportunity is a no show, their treatment is gonna be a complete mess, and even Kris and Nathan's relationship will not be known by any of the Kala's in the camp. Only a few small number of people know, and an even smaller number knows what might happen within this book. Also, we will find out what the bad guys wants. We will get someone back from a multiple personality disorder (Lillian!) and she might have or not, some answers that will shed some light into their battle. The foursome romance will keep going until is no more, even another person may join it... Be ready to be heartbroken in many ways. Happy, and weary. You do remember Callie, right? So, what's up with that? Guess the mystery will continue in the next book. I feel like I have shared enough with my thoughts, or not, but I have the snapshots ready... are you!?
well i just finished this book and i could not put it down. I am in love with both Alec and Nathan and I cant wait to see where the next book will bring them.
The reason i only gave it 4 stars os because i HATE love triangles and in this book there was a love triangle betweem Nathan, Kris and Lillian and there was even a Love square going on between alec nathan kris and Micah... Yes i know that Alec realised she was not interested in either of them and Nathan wanted nothing to do with lillian but there was still the angst and well i just got a bit bored with it.
Desni if you are reading this please give us some finality between Kris and Nathan as quickly into the last book as possible and let see some relationship development between them PLEEEEEEEEEASE.
I would like to see Alec happy and maybe that could happen with Callie and what about Jared and Lillian because i think she she deserves it aswell now that is just an idea and may be too much but u fet my point.
i would love to see more about Jared and see his character develop because it is easy to see that nathan and himself care about each other.
Anyway i loved this book just a litle less love drama between nathan and kris i want to see them move forward now
Kris and the boys are now stuck on Kala’s Island. Since the girl is destined to become an incantatory and the strongest Skotadi, she has to maintain a low profile and keep her relationship with Nathan a secret.
Nathan is sent by his supervisors on a secret mission to Mount Olympus with eleven of their best soldiers. The Gods (aka Hera & Zeus) wants to destroy the demi gods that have risen against them and Kris seems like the perfect girls for the job. The young woman is also thinking of taking the next step in her relationship, but her boyfriend think she is not ready. I often forgot that Nathan is a 30 something adult in a younger body while Kris is just a teenager.
Alec have accepted to be in the friendzone and doesn’t do much in this book. Micah who is still a creep is put on the side. I though he was supposed to be important since he is Kris soulmate? We finally got rid of the love “square” on to have a sort of new love triangle, focus on Nathan this time and his ex, Lillian. Unnecessary drama to me.
I am a little bit lost in the plot now with all those Greek Gods, not sure where this is actually going. What are the Skotadi goals exactly? So far, this book is my least favorite one in the series.
This book seemed to be more of a flashback for Nathan a kind of (before Kris) life where he had his old love and he was in demand as a teacher and was popular with everyone. Kris was more of a prisoner than ever really and never trusted as body guards followed her and Alec everywhere isolating them but strengthening their bond. Personally I am more of a team Alec girl myself as he understands what she is going through and supports her whereas Nathan is too wrapped up in his own drama to be there for Kris. Nathan does have his defining moments but overall this book lagged for me in places as there was not enough drama but more backstory and this helps to flesh out the characters as we can then identify what motivates them and inspires them. Mikah's character had a love/hate relationship with Kris and I did find that his arrogant behaviour as if he owned her was a bit annoying at times yet he redeemed himself when it mattered so may be he is not that bad after all just misguided at times. It was not my favourite book in the series but I am looking forward to the final chapter in their story and hope that Kris finds her happily ever after in the end.
Every book in this series in 5 stars but I think Desni out did herself in this one! She made sure to write such great descriptions that you get lost in the story. At first I wasn't sure about the POV switching back and forth between Nathan and Kris but realized it had to and it actually added to the story. I liked knowing what Nathan was thinking and the stuff he had to do. His missions were dangerous and Desni described them so well. I loved her description of Mount Olympus and the Gods as well. There was lots of action and suspense during the fight scenes. The last one was so dramatic I couldn't believe the way she had it all played down. I was so for the people who died but happy they were starting to find their way. I look forward to Avenging Hearts next!
I receive an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This book was amazing!!!!! Keep you in the edge grasping to know what is going to happen next. What I like the most is to be able to see Nathan's point of view. Love to see how Nathan is protective of Kris and how much he love her. Kris is becoming stronger in this book, but more questions are raise as well. I even love Alec in here, how supportive he his to Kris and Nathan. Desni you did it again. I have fallen deeper in love with these characters Kris, Nathan, Alec even Jared. Here we start knowing more about Jared (Nathan's friend). I can't wait for the next book.
If you really like the first two books you will love this one too.
Wow what a book! I couldn't put it down. So much is happening in the lives of Kris, Nathan, Alec, and even Callie in "Salvaged Soul" by Desni Dantone. Kris and Nathan are finally working on their relationships however there will be bumps on their road. Alec is amazing and one of the best friends Kris can have, especially while Nathan is off on missions. I love watching all these characters grow stronger and together as they climb through their trials. I also love Nathan's POV throughout the book. It gives the reader a chance to know him more. I can't wait for the next book in the series, it can't get here fast enough.
In my opinion, and this hit me in the first book, but was a bit more noticeable here when we had Nathan's POV and he was among his peers that he'd completed his training with, Nathan is too old. He's 35, and Kris has just turned 18, and the rest of the main characters are also late teens. But Nathan is classed as a 22 year old because they age slower?? I still feel he's too mature, I think he acts too mature, for the part he plays in this series.
And yet I can read about hundred year old vampires with teenage girls and not blink an eye.....what gives? :)
Kris, Nathan, Alec, Callie and Micah continue to find out about Kris' future pathway in this thrilling sequel of the Ignited series. This third book is packed with intrigue, suspense and all manner of action. One can only guess as to who will survive and where the story will take us. One thing is for sure, it is an amazing ride. If the first two books in the series whetted our appetite, then this one took it all up a notch or so. WOW what a great series. Now I can't wait for the 4th book to come out in 2016. Bravo Desni Dantone, bravo!
