The Committed

Rate this book
Could you sacrifice someone else’s child to save your own? On a clear, chilly night in early spring, Arthur Parish’s six-month-old daughter disappears from her crib without a trace, leaving no sign of foul play and no tangible evidence to assist police. With law enforcement at a standstill, Arthur immerses himself in the case, desperate to find even a trace of hope. But after turning to numerous vices to numb his pain and lashing out in frustration, his wife walks out on him, taking with her the last fiber of their family. It is then that a former client steps forward and takes responsibility for the abduction. But upon closer inspection, Arthur realizes there is more to the story than he could have ever imagined. Something evil. Something inhuman. And when he is presented with a sadistic choice to save his daughter’s life, he will have to decide just how moral of a man he truly is.

My name is Justin Mermelstein. I write stories. Lots of them. And I have for as long as I can remember. I write in a whole bunch of different flavors but tend to hover around supernatural (Lucid and Awake series), paranormal (The Committed), or suspense and thriller (Glimpse series), and almost everything I've ever published is too stubborn to stay in any one genre and tends to drift in and out of all of the above. I like to scare people a bit, sure, and I certainly enjoy messing with my reader's head, but all that comes second. Adrenaline gets the human emotion flowing, exposing it at its deepest level, and I love exploring what a person might do under dire circumstances. It brings out the best and the worst. I hope you appreciate my work. Thanks for reading.

An excellent/gripping premise that the author executes with deftness and flair. A most satisfying read.

This was a quick and spine tingling read that put just enough thoughts in my head to make me worry.
