"How he got started in comics: In 1983, when Fraction was 7 years old and growing up in Kansas City, Mo., he became fascinated by the U.S. invasion of Grenada and created his own newspaper to explain the event. "I've always been story-driven, telling stories with pictures and words," he said.
Education and first job: Fraction never graduated from college. He stopped half a semester short of an art degree at Kansas City Art Institute in Missouri in 1998 to take a job as a Web designer and managing editor of a magazine about Internet culture.
"My mother was not happy about that," he said.
But that gig led Fraction and his co-workers to split off and launch MK12, a boutique graphic design and production firm in Kansas City that created the opening credits for the James Bond film "Quantum of Solace."
Big break: While writing and directing live-action shoots at MK12, Fraction spent his spare time writing comics and pitching his books each year to publishers at Comic-Con. Two books sold: "The Last of the Independents," published in 2003 by AiT/Planet Lar, and "Casanova," published in 2006 by Image Comics.
Fraction traveled extensively on commercial shoots. Then his wife got pregnant. So Fraction did what any rational man in his position would do -- he quit his job at MK12 to pursue his dream of becoming a full-time comic book writer.
Say what? "It was terrifying," said Fraction, who now lives in Portland, Ore. "I was married. We had a house. We had a baby coming. And I just quit my job."
Marvel hired Fraction in June 2006, thanks largely to the success of his other two comics. "I got very lucky," he half-joked. "If it hadn't worked out, I would have had to move back in with my parents.
I want to write something intelligent about how much this comic book means to me. And how I wish it would never end. And how long I was waiting for this final issue. But I can't. Because I have no idea how to put all of this in the words. So let me just say that it has been a pure pleasure to read and I will come back to this series very often.
FINALLY!! I got my hands on this. I was so happy to have Clint and Kate (and Lucky!) together again. The fight scenes were so well done, and I am so sad this is over. I'm enjoying the All-New Hawkeye but I love this art style and the unique things this series has done, particularly around Clint's deafness.
It brings the whole arc to a close, leaving not much in the air but still pointing at a couple of plot points they will pursue on the next volume with the new creative team. It was good, but it somehow felt a bit anticlimatic because of the excessive wait until publication. Marvel dropped the ball on this, for sure.
So this is done then. Now, all that needs to be done is to read more and wait for the Hawkeye series on Disney+. This was a fun ride and hope that the series is also good and can't wait to see Kate Bishop on the screen.
I have always loved comics, and I hope that I will always love them. Even though I grew up reading local Indian comics like Raj Comics or Diamond Comics or even Manoj Comics, now's the time to catch up on the international and classic comics and Graphic novels. I am on my quest to read as many comics as I can. I Love comics to the bits, may the comics never leave my side. I loved reading this and love reading more, you should also read what you love and then just Keep on Reading.
I can't believe it's out and it's actual over. I love this series to death, for all the reasons everyone has said, and I'm sad to see it go. Especially the way of story telling and the art. And more.
Great conclusion to this story arc! I really liked the direction the story ended taking. I loved seeing Kate and Clint team up again. And I don’t really know what else to say without spoiling anything. Really loved this series and this was a worthy conclusion to it.
one of those comics that understands comics and what the art form can and (most importantly) should be. 2 absolute masters coming together to create something special. low key but high stakes. incredible to walk that line and never falter.
I can't explain how emotionally attached I am to Clint and Kate and matt fraction writing. For real. I haven't been this excited for a comic book in YEARS. And I'm really sad this has come to an end. It was a marvellous ending anyway. I loved it. EVERY SINGLE PART OF IT. I'm really grateful I decided to pick and read the first issue and then became really hyped for this series.
