Your mileage with this one will probably vary depending on how much zombie fiction you read, if like me you read a lot of it, it's probably going to come across as pretty cookie cutter and unmemorable. There isn't much character development and honestly the most memorable thing about them is their dog's name. There's also a child which I kept forgetting existed between each of his apparitions so yeah when I tell you not very memorable that's what I mean.
If I am ever in the zombie apocalypse please let there be a Jaxson and a Mayhem with me! Book 1 is an excellent start to the series and I have already downloaded books 2 and 3 (there are 4 total).
An underground military installation is an amazing idea that I have not read about in any of the other end of the world/apocalypse books I’ve been reading so I found that idea very interesting. As well as keeping survivors on Navy ships in the ocean. With all the military precautions it makes me wonder how any infected would manage to make it through to a ship or facility?
I hope we see the rest of Harmony’s family soon given all that happened in the first book. And I’m holding my breath for Jaxson, Harmony, and Mayhem with the water thoughts.

Plenty of action in this book, there's never any real boring lull in it. I liked the way the characters were developed You really got to some how feel some of their feelings and anxiety. When bringing in the dog as a character was extremely important to the overall story. Good job, just ordered the second book. I'm certain it's as good.
I was blown away from the onset. Book 1 chronicles the break down of society in L.A and the struggles and fear that comes with the loss of everything you hold dear. This was handled masterfully and the narrative ability of Mr. Lanza propelled me to get the rest of the series.
The biggest take away for me: THIS AUTHOR LEFT ME WANTING MORE!
I did really enjoy this zombie end of the world adventure! I really liked the characters & the general ideas & energy in the story. Good action & pacing, nice levels of excitement, a really good zombie read! I will look for more by this writer & I do recommend.
This is a great story, I like that Jaxon didn't die like so many authors do to the new guy. I'm glad there's a part 2 cuz she hasn't found her sister yet!?
Not so bad that I couldn't finish it, but not good. Blah. Very boring. No character development. You don't even know what the characters are supposed to look like. It took several pages to even figure out if the main character was male or female. Nothing stands out about these characters. I will not read subsequent books from this author.
Not everyone makes it and it is interesting to see a story play out that doesn't. And that even good people can make decisions that the day before they would have condemned.
