A.J. Stewart is a fun writer. Not as wacky as many Florida writers but several LOL moments. Also, fune to learn more about Miami Jones back story. This is a series I plan to read until I've read them all!!!

I am not someone who enjoys reading about corrupt politicians or what is going on inside the beltway. I enjoyed the baseball insight and the characters were great. When you don't care about the main story line and you want more of the B and C storyline it is not that great of a read.

Miami Jones is a college kid playing baseball who meets a girl who is in trouble. It leads to various cities and you get a look at how pro baseball works and Washington politics, too. You see Miami grow up and learn how to navigate life while wondering why we put up with our corrupt politicians.

This is my first Miami Jones, and I envision a long relationship. Miami, a nickname, is a college baseball player from, you guessed it, the University of Miami, He sort of falls into a mystery involving, you guessed it again, a girl. Kate is a general's daughter who meets Miami in a bar one night when he is taking some R&R from college baseball playoffs. They hit it off, but something else is going on with Kate, and Miami seems to have gotten in the middle of it.

I will tell you no more, but the story spans a few years, and Miami moving to the minor leagues and even a stint in the major league. Kate keeps turning up, and the mystery has several layers as time goes by. You will also get to meet Lenny, who is going to play a part in Miami's later adventures. How do I know, because I had to start reading another one when this one was done.

I may have found my next male detective. Miami Jones is his name and baseball is his game ( at least in this book). He is smart and snarky, like Spenser ( my favorite male detective). This book is his introduction and what an introduction. There is dirty business going on in DC ( what a surprise) and Miami is caught up in it because of his acquaintance with a girl named Kate. This book is a real winter and a thorough introduction to Miami. I will definitely read more of these stories.

Miami Jones, the baseball years. Who would have thought he could get into so many interesting situations. There is quite a gap between when this book ends and the first book of the series starts, so I hope there is another prequel in the works.
