Wyoming Lovers #2

Cotton Candy

Rate this book
Cowboy Cotton Reid is the laid-back type of guy who accepts people as they are, no matter how flawed. People think he’s fun, honest and crazy about his boss and friend the sexy rancher Bay Redman.

Living with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is something that family man Bay has done his whole life. Bay can be like a bear with a sore head if the hay isn’t stored symmetrically or his fridge contains an odd number of jars.

When the two men begin a hot affair, Cotton keeps an important secret from Bay. If he can't find the courage to tell him the truth before someone else does, Bay may never be able to let it go.

I enjoy reading anything from the historical novels of Conn Iggulden right through to contemporary Erotica and Erotic Romance. I also enjoy work which has an ‘edge’ or mystery to it, but most of all I adore writing that inspires me and strikes chords that make me feel alive. I’m sure you will find that both my academic and personal experiences and the ideals of others to which I aspire influence my work.

Holy hotness! I loved the first book in this series and couldn’t wait to read about Bay. I was not disappointed. Bay has OCD bad but Cotton seems to calm him and make the OCD not as bad. When the two of these guys start dating it is awesome! When we find out the secret Cotton is keeping I kept thinking “oh no, the crap is gonna hit the fan”. This was a beautiful story with a little bit of drama mixed in and a whole lot of sexy M/M love. I loved Cotton and how he is with Bay and how he is so laid back. When everything is finally revealed it doesn’t turn out so bad and I was shocked because I was really waiting for it all to hit the fan LOL. We do get to see a few characters from the previous book, obviously Oak since he is Bay’s son and then grandma of course! I enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the next one!

Characters: well written and believable
Sex: oh yeah!
Religious: no
Would I recommend to others: yes
More than one book in the series: yes
Genre: M/M Romance
Would I read more by this author: yes

I couldn't wait for Bay's story. I really am enjoying this series. Oak and Hart's story was sweet and sexy and I expected nothing less with Bay and Cotton. Grandma is back and man is she a pistol! She is speaks her mind and adds some comic relief to this series.

Bay runs a ranch, a ranch where gay men are accepted as ranch hands. Bay hasn't a a relationship in years. He was married at one point, until his wife left him after the birth of their second child, that's when he realized he was gay. Bay's mind is a busy place between running the ranch and constantly fixing and counting things when his OCD is at it's peak, he doesn't see what's in front of him. Cotton came to the ranch for work and feel for Bay. Cotton has a secret, secret that can destroy everything he's worked for with Bay.

Can't wait for the next one!

I really enjoyed Enticing Hart, and was delighted to get the chance to read Cotton Candy.

These two guys deserved having their story told, and Ms Hancock did it beautifully. OCD is such an issue for some, and it is approached with great care and thoughtfulness in this book. Combine that with Cotton's secret, and the plot holds together around a lovely romance. They are definitely a steamy pairing! Happy to see other familiar faces, and imagine what will transpire in what will be book 3 of this series.

As someone who's read lots of m/m-themed romances I applaud Ms. Hancock for the unique hero of Bay and his vividly depicted struggles with OCD. It set her story apart and added an intriguing layer to his already complicated connection to Cotton. Add in melodrama from a daughter who's out of control and a vindictive ex out for herself and you end up with a story teeming with angst.

Bay's experienced a lot of loss in his life and with each event his OCD has gotten worse as he's struggled to get control in a life clearly out of his control. It's become so bad that it's driving people away. There's one person who's not afraid though and soon becomes the calmness in his chaotic storm...farmhand Cotton, who has a big secret of his own. Bay can't believe there's someone who cares about him enough to overlook his issues which leads to a drawn-out dance before Cotton finally makes his bold move. What follows is a steamy and erotic relationship that gives Bay the emotional support he's longed for but left Cotton seeped in guilt over his reason for coming to the ranch. This leads to lots of angst and a bit of frustration as the truth takes forever to come out. Throughout these emotional ups and downs their connection never dies as Cotton brings peace and love to Bay's chaotic and lonely life. Cotton's a man who feels he doesn't have much to offer beyond his love but love is exactly what Bay needs. He enjoys and is drawn to Bay's commanding nature and relishes those rare moments of caretaking he lavishes on Bay. While Cotton tends to be submissive around Bay it leads to Bay often taking control in their erotic encounters which makes you forget about his OCD as he takes on a masterful persona in the bedroom. Even though Cotton's truth makes Bay feel betrayed he can't let go of the power of Cotton's emotional support at one of the most emotionally intense points in his life. Once he realizes his OCD is no longer a crutch but a poison to his life, he'll need the loving constant that is Cotton. Though their road to HEA was rocky and dragged on too long it was richly rewarding as these two men who saw themselves as inferior soon found themselves powerful in each other's eyes.

While these main characters were enjoyable I felt frustrated by some of the secondary ones. I found teenage daughter Kristen very annoying, immature, and ungrateful. She was also spoiled by Bay, who was overcompensating for his ex walking out of their lives after her birth, and tended to blame him for every bad thing that befell her. Another irritating character was that of Bay's ex Vanessa who came on the scene to cause trouble, make threats, and demands only to never be seen again. As there are so few women in this story already, the fact that these two had me pulling out my hair left me especially annoyed. Thank heavens for the witty, funny, and sage sounding Grandma! For the most part this was an engaging read as Ms. Hancock nicely balanced steamy encounters with intense emotions. Though this book is part of a series it can definitely stand on its own as you root for these unique heroes to find their HEA and wait for the next unlikely pair of sexy farmhands to find their own steamy stud!

“Cotton Candy” by Mae Hancock is part of the ‘Wyoming Lovers’ series and is a m/m cowboy romance that features a very unique cowboy named Bay with a challenging disability, OCD, which is inexplicably alleviated by the presence of a ranch hand named Cotton. They have been reluctant to change the tenor of their friendship by exploring the attraction they feel for each other. Will they find a way to admit what they have found together or will secrets destroy what they have before it has a chance to grow?

Bay and Cotton are a very different pair from the usual stars of a sizzling m/m romance, not because they are a boss and employee, but because of the issues that each is coping with. Their incandescent lust for one another is a little surprising, given how long it has taken for them to act on it, but it is definitely intense. The abandon with which they pursue intimate encounters is a little disconcerting, as is the length of time it has taken for Cotton to address the issue that originally brought him to the ranch. I thought the author dealt with the complex issue of compulsive behavior very sensitively and I think there are plenty of stories left to tell about the unique men who staff the ranch.

I received this book from Goddess Fish Promotions in return for a fair and honest review.

This is the second book in this series although I haven't read book 1, it in no way disrupted my enjoyment of this book. Cotton has worked at the ranch for 18 months. He originally was trying to find his daughter but when he did, he found she was happy and her father was a good man so he was reluctant to interfere. Instead, he stayed, in the background, just watching out for her where he could. He also started to have feelings for her father which complicated things.

Mae Hancock does a fantastic job of showing the real effects of OCD and how it can affect not only the person suffering but also their family and friends. The relationship between Cotton and Bay became more interesting once Cotton stood up to Bay. I am all for being supportive but he was a bit too submissive at the beginning. Then again, he was still trying to figure out their relationship as they'd gone from boss/worker to partners very quickly.

This is well written and interesting with a good story and pacing. With steam and emotions, I can definitely recommend it.

I've been looking forward to Cotton and Bay's story ever since we were introduced to them in book 1.

One of the things that I liked about this book is that it doesn't over simplify many significant concerns in the story. For instance, love and sex may help Bay to feel more comfortable in his skin, but they are not the cure-all for his OCD. Bay's OCD isn't just a cute plot device, it is a real and potent challenge to his happiness. He knows how much it affects those around him, and he can't imagine finding a lover who can tolerate living with his issues.

I also really liked that the issue of parents and biology was explored with tact and grace. This isn't a story where family is boiled down to DNA, and that really resonates with me.

I really enjoyed watching Cotton and Bay work for their HEA, and it does take work!

I would have loved even more of the love and romance, and a little less of the secret/parenting plot, but I really enjoyed the series, and its a great view of life on a farm where who you love matters a lot less than how you love.

What I enjoyed about this one more than the first is the age of the characters. You can really tell that both men are more mature and therefore the whole book has a ‘older, wiser feel to it.
Even though Cotton held onto his secret for 18 months while living with the object of that secret. You can understand why, agree or not you get the why. Once Bay and Cotton finally stop circling each other, the sweet dates that they go on, the slow pace just works. The fact that Cotton finds Bay OCD condition enduring instead of a hindrance, something to laugh or’ just get over’ like most everyone else also wins some major brownie points.
The reaction of the children to the news was expected and predictable but still didn’t take away from the over all enjoyment of the story. Happy it was all shorted out in the end.

A sweet romance with sexy cowboys. Doesn't get much better than this!

I loved the cover of this book and so I decided to peek inside. The lovely characterization from page one kept me involved through the whole book. I loved Bay who is struggling to keep his family together through his debilitating OCD.

Cotton, who is a total hunk, doesn’t realize he is sex on wheels and that makes him doubly likable!

The Black Moment in the book is a surprise and fit the story line very well. All in all, a great read. I’m looking forward to more from this author!

Sweet, Realistic & Down to earth romance.

Cotton Candy is a M/M love story, with two amazing main characters, Cotton: lovable, sweet, funny and Bay: Rough, family man with OCD. The perfect match!!
The plot is easy, with a couple of secrets that have you wondering when they're going to unveil? My favorite character (besides C&B) is Grandma, she made me laugh a couple of times, overall this book is a light read, with fantastic characters, and a sweet romance.
Highly enjoyable, recommended to all type of readers.

I like Bay and Cotton's story a bit more then first coupled pair. But to be truthful, I rather disliked Kristen childish behaviour. Her dramatic part was annoying and made this story worse.
