Twenty-three year old Sophie Walker is in big trouble. She defied her parents and dropped out of law school. She broke up with her perfect, longtime boyfriend. She spent all of her life’s savings on a whirlwind trip to the Maldives. And while “finding herself” she handed her virginity and heart over to the charismatic, alluring and seductive Clayton Astor Sinclair. A man she thought was too good to be true and as luck goes, (since she believes hers royally sucks), her knight turned out to be tarnished and broke her heart. Now back in Los Angeles and faced with the daunting task of pursuing her dream to become an artist, while trying to get over the only man who ever made her feel passion, she feels like her life is over before it’s even begun.

I’m sorry, I’m just not a fan of weepy breakup feelings. This very short novella is the heroine’s POV right after breaking it off with the hero. It can be skipped if you don’t want that torture either.

First off Madly in Love by Colet Abedi is a quick novella read, and I have to admit as I hadn't read Mad Love, I was a little confused with this book as it plainly didn't make too much sense into why the character was this emotionally invested in this particular love. In Madly in Love, we meet Sophie Walker who is in her early 20's and has just dropped out of law school as she has no idea what she wants to do with her life exactly. She has also recently broken up with her boyfriend, and her life seems to have flipped upside down - a bit like the Fresh Prince. Sophie's friends decide she needs a "her" holiday where she can relax and find herself and decide exactly who she wants to be and become. During this holiday, Sophie meets Clayton who is also holidaying and sparks fly. Sophie's trip soon turns into a whirlwind romantic holiday where she loses her V-card to Clayton and falls hard and fast. Only to discover by the time her holiday is finished - her Romeo happened to be somebody else's Romeo and broke her heart. Now back to Planet Reality in LA, Sophie has decided to pursue her passion for Art but also must learn how to move on from her addictive love of Clayton to feel whole again. Madly in Love, was truly a story about what it's like to feel completely helpless against the feelings of love and passion and the damage it can do to one when they have fallen hard, and the truth revealed that their fantasy of HEA would never be able to become a reality.
So excited to read this short novella while I anxiously await the release of Mad Love 2!!! The novella brings you right back to the heart of Mad Love. You get to fall even more in love with Sophie's character. The author was able to bring all of the favorites parts of the first novel and reintroduce them in the novella. The terrific friendship between Sophie and Erik is at the forefront and so much fun to read. There are even plenty of steamy moments to remind us why we fell in love with Clayton in Mad Love. I would definitely recommend the novella and I can't wait to see what happens in Mad Love 2!!!
I am a huge fan of Colet Abedi and Mad Love is one of my top reads, so I was beyond excited to read this novella. Perfect tease to get you ready for Book 2!
Once again, I could not put it down. Colet grips you from the first page and the emotions that Sophie is dealing with makes you feel like you are experiencing them with her. The heartbreak and agony will have you reaching for the tissues.
Clayton is once again an enigma and I have to know more about him and his secrets.
Erik is the best friend EVERYBODY should have. There when you need him and will always be honest…at times brutally so.
I HIGHLY recommend this novella and cannot wait for September 21st when Mad Love 2 releases!
A perfect little teaser that will get you super excited for Mad Love 2. All the passion and lust Sophie and Clayton have for each other is present in this novella. I'm really glad Colet decided to do this, I had forgotten how brooding and sexy Clayton was, and how Sophie totally transformed from innocent virgin to goddess! Clayton awakened a side of her she never knew and now that their relationship is in limbo Sophie is faced with heartbreak and memories of the man who she gave her mind, body and soul to. Colet once again mesmerized me in this passion filled story that left me longing for more, I cannot wait for Mad Love 2!!!
While it is super short, it brings you back to the islands and you can get back to it all in a handful of chapters....it's the perfect linl to the Oh-so-waited-on-book-#2! Erik is, and will always be my dreamed bff.... Clayton is just too good for words....
I realize that Madly in Love 1.5 is advertised as a novella and true to form it is only 40 pages long. In my opinion, Colet Abedi was just throwing this out there as a teaser and to hold on to readers until Book 2 was written. Some of this is repetitive. It probably could have added 2 more chapters to Book 1 and not have to purchase another book. Other than my disappointment in this very short read, I did enjoy reading more about Sophie and her friends, especially Eric. Some of this book is steamy and some funny but truthfully, you don't need to read this book before going on to Book 2.
A novella that takes place between Mad Love and Mad Love 2 - after Sophie returned from the Maldives and before she leaves with Erik and Orie for England. This is more of a short story about her mourning the end of her relationship - as short as it has been so far - with Clayton. She does a lot of fantasizing in this story and it mostly consists of Erik trying to snap her out of it. Pretty average but that's because this was, I assume, to whet the appetite between books. I had already read the first two books before this. I came to the party late and didn't realize!
Sophie is now home from her vacation to find herself. She is also picking up the pieces of her “shattered” self. Thanks to her good friend Erik there is a few laughs along the way.
Liked the booked very much, I hated to see it end.... no spoilers I do hope the author continues the story so we get to hear about Clayton's brother Michael
Madly In Love by Colet Abedi is a very short story meant to catch readers up on what has happened to Sophie since she left the Maldives. This takes place after Mad Love, but before Mad Love 2 and should be read after readers have finished the first book. I was expecting this to be a new story, and to help set us up for the next book. However, this one seemed to mostly rehash everything that had happened in the first book.
Madly In Love was filled with flashbacks of her time with Clayton, and how she felt before everything was shattered. There were some scenes from the present, with Sophie heartbroken and leaning on Eric and Orie. They did their best to cheer her up, but it was only a few pages between flashbacks, and unfortunately didn't seem to really add much to the story. If you are looking for a refresher before starting Mad Love 2, this might be of interest to you. But honestly I didn't really think that it added much to the story or that it was necessary to enjoy this series.
In what I think was supposed to be a short story to catch us all up on what happened once Sophie left the Maldives heartbroken after Claytons betrayal, turned into a rehash of the first story instead. Sophie is now home and a broken, shattered mess. Her best friend Eric is trying to cheer her up, but Sophie's mind keeps going back to all of the intimate times she shared with Clayton. If you are hoping to see where Clayton is, wait until the second book comes out, because this short story is all about Sophie wallowing in her misery. The only good thing about this story, was the mention of the book "10% Happier", which was written by my cousin!
4.5 Amazing Stars! This is the second book in A Mad Love Story and to fully understand it I recommend you read the first book Mad Love. This book is a short novella to bring you back to where we left off and get you ready from Mad Love # 2. I thoroughly enjoyed this Novella. The author gives us a good recap of where we left off and leaves us anxiously awaiting the next book. Definitely recommend this novella!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. This book was read and reviewed by Annamaria for Alpha Book Club.
Hmmm. I loved the first book and have been waiting for the sequel. This was short, very short. It was only a series of memories and no further story line. It was kind of like the reminder segment before the next show starts. It has been so long since the first book came out I think she just wanted to remind us who the characters are. I hope the real book comes out soon.
