On December 1, Naomi Bowers runs from a burning bakery, determined to keep her nine-year-old daughter, Eve, out of her ex-husband’s hands. The police are already looking for Naomi, and getting caught is the one thing she cannot risk.
For the next twenty-four days, Naomi keeps moving. Every place that might offer safety becomes another risk. Every offer of help feels like another trap. And as the search spreads, Naomi is running out of places to hide.
Christmas is getting closer. Naomi has already lost too much to turn back now, and every day brings her closer to the one thing she cannot afford to lose.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ EVE by T. J. Roelyn is a high-octane, intense, and surprisingly insightful dive into non-stop pursuit, secretive motives, and shocking psychological reveals that plays out like an action movie where everything constantly goes wrong.
The narrative plunges straight into a relentless, heart-pounding chase as Naomi flees with young Eve, desperate to stay steps ahead of a shadowy threat and the police. While her backstory, husband, and true motivations remain tantalisingly veiled, the author masterfully crafts an emotional stranglehold—glueing you to the pages, making you root for every successful escape, and feeling every devastating setback. Blending high-stakes tension, the fierce, boundless depth of a mother's love, and innovative elements like interactive QR codes, the story keeps you in a state of constant adrenaline.
Everything builds up to a final twist that is both shocking and emotional, and it completely caught me off guard. I thought I would be ready for the ending after reading Beta, but I was so wrong. It got me all over again!
With intense emotional impact, airtight pacing, and a mind-bending climax, this beta draft earns 5 well-deserved stars! 🧪🏃♀️💥 p.s. This book gave me the Zero Days by Ruth Ware vibe- not the plot, but the intense adrenaline that readers get from the chase. So if you read that book and loved it, this will be right up your street!
Without giving spoilers, this book was an EASY 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟!! It was intense, fast-paced, kept me on the edge of my seat, and I couldn’t put the book down! Never mess with a mother and her child! I’ve read all of T.J Roelyn’s books; and this one is by far my favorite! Such a great author!
Book Review | ARC ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Eve by T.J. Roelyn Release Date: October 22, 2026
Brutal. Dark. Shattering. Unforgettable.
First, thank you, T.J., for allowing me to read for you once again. And for absolutely destroying what was left of my emotionally unstable little heart.
Oh, T.J. What have you done to me?! You broke my heart into a zillion tiny pieces. And apparently, being the emotionally damaged reading goblin I am, I loved every damn second of it.
From the moment Naomi left, I had already made up my mind. The way I imagined those watching her leave? Yeah. My twisted little brain went somewhere dark immediately. Sorry. Not really.
Roelyn has this incredible ability to say just enough without spelling everything out. She lets you become part of the story. A silent shadow, watching, feeling, judging. And occasionally wanting to violently shake your Kindle because WHAT THE ACTUAL H3LL?!
There were moments I wanted to slap that knife right out of her hand. Others where I desperately wanted to be her therapist. Or simply a doctor tending to the wounds that screamed medical attention.
And those little QR code escapes? Brilliant. Actually scan them. Trust me. They gave me a much-needed moment to breathe before willingly returning to my fictional emotional destruction.
The worst part? I knew where this was going. And somehow that didn’t soften the blow. That final chapter? Oh, you cruel, cruel human. Just when I thought my already scarred heart had survived, you went in for the kill.
Five shattered-heart stars from me. Because when a story holds you hostage from the first page until the final word, even when you can see the heartbreak coming, it deserves every single one.
If you’re anything like me and need psychological darkness and fictional emotional trauma the way normal people need sunshine, rainbows, and sprinkles, READ THIS. Grab your emotional support rabbit, abandon your responsibilities, and devour it in one sitting. Or be a responsible adult and read a chapter a day until Christmas.
Who am I kidding? We both know how that’s going to end. Just don’t say I didn’t warn you. That ending doesn’t ask permission before breaking you.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Eve Author T.J. Roelyn Publication Date October 22,2026
Thank you to T.J. Roelyn for sharing an advance copy of this book with me before publication.
This was a fairly quick page-turner that kept me feeling anxious right along with Naomi. I did figure out what was going on before the end, and when everything clicked, it absolutely wrenched my heart.
No spoilers, but this one definitely got to me!
On December 1, Naomi Bowers runs from a burning bakery, determined to keep her nine-year-old daughter, Eve, out of her ex-husband’s hands. With the police already searching for her, getting caught is not an option.
For the next twenty-four days, Naomi stays on the run. Every possible safe haven comes with risks, and every offer of help feels like it could be a trap. As Christmas draws closer, her options dwindle, and the stakes become more heartbreaking with every passing day.
My thoughts: An emotionally charged, fast-moving read that kept me turning the pages. Even though I figured out the truth before the end, that didn't make the emotional impact any less powerful. A little book packed with anxious energy!
Have you ever figured out a book's twist before the end but still had your heart broken by it? I do recommend adding this book to your holiday list of TBR
I received an ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) in exchange for my honest review.
The short chapters made this book a nice easy read, and from the very beginning, I found myself needing to know what was going to happen next. 📚
Throughout the entire book, I couldn’t understand why Naomi talked to Eve as if she always had the answers to everything. I kept questioning it, trying to make sense of it all, but I never figured it out. I thought, geez she’s got the answer for everything. Then came the twist at the end, and BOOM it all made sense 🤯 I did not see that coming! It was absolutely worth the wait!
EVE is a story about a mother who will stop at nothing to make sure no one ever takes her daughter away again. From going on the run to hiding out in different places, the tension keeps building. It’s immersive, menacing and the storyline kept me wanting to read more. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ releasing in 2 days and this one deserves a spot on your TBR!
This psychological thriller was an emotional roller coaster from beginning to end! With strong, complex characters and a storyline filled with tension, twists, and suspense, it kept me turning the pages and wondering what would happen next. The heartbreak of a family torn and the desperate desire to hold on to a child adds a deeply emotional layer to the story. It’s a chilling reminder of how far people can go when emotions, fear, and obsession take over. The suspense builds throughout the book, leading to a shocking and heartbreaking conclusion that I never saw coming. If you enjoy psychological thrillers with complicated family dynamics, unforgettable characters, and twists that leave you thinking long after you finish reading, this one is definitely worth picking up! Added bonus: throughout the book!
Wow! I will be thinking about this book for AWHILE ! Definitely an amazing read! It’s a fast paced thriller that definitely left me wanting to keep reading on. You folllow Naomi on her journey to keeping her daughter Eve safe ! It was filled with suspense until the end and the final plot twist was 😱🫣😱😱😱 it’s a sad, scary reminder how far someone could go for something/ someone they love when fear and obsession takes over! ANAZING BOOK!!
Overall, the book had kept my interest. Halfway through the book you have this “aha!!” moment and you want to finish to verify if you are right or not. I felt some chapters kind of repeated itself in different ways. You know Naomi is on the run in the middle of winter and it goes on and on. I think the author could have added in some more back history to break up the on the run chapters. Mix it up some. The reading companion was something new and unique. I think a general tab that explains it on the webpage would have been useful. The last 2 QR codes didn’t load for me, so I’m not sure what I missed.
Wow 😮!!!! I was lucky enough to get an ARC copy of this book and it didn't disappoint. This book can be read a chapter a day like an advent calendar but I could not put it down. I had to find out what happened and what a twist. I won't spoil it for those who have not yet read it but like her other books this is definitely one to add to your TBR pile.
A mother on the run, a child she refuses to give up, and danger closing in from every direction. “EVE” was dark, tense, and seriously unsettling. The sense of desperation kept me hooked!
First, I want to thank T.J. Roelyn for letting me read her ARC of EVE.
I enjoyed this one immensely because I love her writing style. Each day brought more chaos and terror, and I was here for it all. That twist was crazy, though. My jaw fell to the floor in pure shock.
I did not see this one ending how it did. This was a thrilling ride throughout and the twist just blew my mind. Perfect for a quick, entertaining read! I couldn’t put this one down.
I am not the best at writing how I feel about a book sorry. By chapter 5 I knew most of what was going on. The very ending of the book did surprise me. It did take me less than a day from start to finish. Even though it is fiction, The father was way to nice. I would and will read more from this author. The cover was great ***** knowing by chapter 5 * ending ****
