Paws at Odds: Harley and the Secret of the Great Canine Conspiracy is the sequel to Paws in the Piazza. In this humorous short story, Harley is on the prowl again. Sometime after the exploits chronicled in Paws in the Piazza, he is back with his fellow felines in the small town in Washington state he left behind when he and his family spent a year in Venice. He can't help being a little proud of all he did in Italy, and he shares tales of his adventures with anyone who will listen. But Harley's stories stir up trouble in his old neighborhood, offending the local dogs and awakening an age-old animosity. Harley and his pals (Lotta, Manx and Pookie) have to deal with a band of canines who challenge them to remember and respect the long and honorable history of dogs in Italy. While peace is eventually restored, it is an uneasy one. Harley realizes all will not be well until he deals with the controversy he has unwittingly revived.
