Colette Coming home was supposed to heal me. After my ski career ended, Butterfly Ridge was my escape–until Garrett crashed into my lessons with two adorable girls in tow. He was awkward, gorgeous and off-limits. A tourist I shouldn’t want. But every shared look on the mountain made resisting him harder. When I learned he might be tied to the developer trying to turn our burned down lodge into a luxury resort, wanting him became a conflict of interest.
Garrett I came for a job. I stayed for her. Designing a mountainside restaurant for a friend was supposed to be a quick win for my career. Then I met Colette–fiery, untouchable, impossible to forget. Her no-dating rule only fueled the desire to get to know her. When I had to choose between the future I planned and the woman I burned for, I learned some risks were worth the fall–because falling for her was the riskiest run of all.
Book One in the Match Made in Butterfly Ridge Illustrated Cover - Colette & Garrett
That’s what EL Koslo strives to do in her life every day. She spent her youth with her nose in a book, often conjuring up storylines in a composition notebook she hid under her mattress. Her love of writing continued on through high school as she served on the school paper and wrote poetry for the literary magazine.
At University, she studied Art and Art History where she met her own prince charming after kissing a few frogs, of course.
Her love of reading and writing have been a constant in her life with her nose always buried in a book, tablet, or computer—both writing and reading.
She resides in the Midwest United States with her husband and four rambunctious children. Her days are filled with driving kids to school, activities, and sports; frequently squeezing writing time in while waiting in the carpool line.
Koslo’s characters are often developed while running on the treadmill at the gym, and she has a DVR full of Hallmark movies.
Her debut novel, Foreplay on Words, combines her love of steamy romance, awkward but loveable leading males, and headstrong heroines with a dash of humor and a little bit of kink.

A hopelessly smitten hero and a ski instructor who refuses to date tourists? Oh, this was fun!
Colette and Garrett’s romance was such a fun winter read, with flirty banter and a cozy mountain setting. Colette is easy to root for, especially with how she’s built a happy life after her Olympic dreams were cut short. She’s adventurous, funny, and every bit the badass on the slopes.
Garrett is an absolute sweetheart, from his adorably awkward flirting to the way he treats Colette with so much care and respect. Watching him with his nieces made me adore him even more! Their chemistry felt natural, and I enjoyed seeing Colette slowly let her guard down despite her no-dating-tourists rule. Jayden’s friendship with her was another highlight because genuinely platonic male-female friendships deserve more love in romance!
Between the small-town charm, sweet family moments, and a romance that grows from instant attraction into something deeper, this was such an enjoyable read. The unexpected twist involving the town’s future added another interesting layer, too.
Butterfly Ridge has won me over, and I’m looking forward to seeing who falls in love next!

A sincere thank you to E.L. Koslo and Luna Literary for the ARC! 🥰📚
I’m so grateful for the early read. As always, all thoughts and opinions are completely my own. ✨
If you love small town winter stories and don't mind Koslo's writing then you'd probably enjoy this!
The cute character art and skiing meet cute drew me in. I love skiing and grew up in a skiing village so I really thought this would be perfect for my tastes. Unfortunately, it just didn't work for me.
My main issue is the writing style, especially at the beginning. It's very exposition heavy, and simple conversations get drawn out all the time. One character says a small line, then there's a paragraph or two of explanation, before another character says a short line, with another paragraph or two of explanation or thoughts. And on and on it goes. It's tiring and was really hard for me to stick with it.
Koslo tries to briefly explain every activity that's brought up: skiing, distilling, architecture, boxing. But doesn't explain why the ski field being bought would be a bad thing. Maybe it's just my European ass who doesn't understand how ski fields in America work, but the tension really didn't make sense for 90% of the book.
The pacing was off through out, at least to me. It's a very slow book, but the majority happens over a single week. They meet and there's instant attraction, by day three there's mutual feelings of interest, by day 5 there's kissing and hooking up, and by day 7 they've fallen for each other and are planning on doing "long-distance". The writing makes it feel like everything is slowly happening and dragging on, but it isn't a slow burn romance. I spent the whole time trying to focus on the story holding out for some kind of climax after the very long build up, but it didn't come. The outside plot only starts to move at 80%, and even then I'm still confused at how things felt like they're were happening slowly until the very end when suddenly everything happens in a couple pages and is sorted out, as well. Cosy low tension stories are great and the journey is usually the enjoyable part, but it didn't seem like that was what it was trying to be. Instead, it just kept trying to build tension and failing, and frustrating me in-between.
The supposed tension is basically non-existent for most of the book too. Which would be fine if we spent that time learning more about who the characters are, but we don't. The reveal of how they're actually connected was anti-climatic. The "long-distance" stress was stupid IMO because they're actually <90minutes away from each other. And yet they repeatedly say hours or several hours away. He could easily commute if he was so inclined, or at the very least come by every weekend.
I believe there's also continuity errors in some places. For example he says he couldn't sleep because his door doesn't have a lock and his niece is a cuddler, but later on when they're hooking up, he locks the door...
Colette was almost a full character, and I'm happy she got what she always wanted, but the whole "he got passed my defenses" thing is really dumb when we've barely seen them have many conversations. And I think her accident at 19, followed by over a decade of isolation should really have been discussed a little more, in addition to her actual overall feelings and thought processes outside of wondering if she'll still have her job next year, that shes not even sure she likes. Garrett just seems like a stand-in. He's shy and quiet, and flirts with Col when he can, but is there really much more to him? Sure he watches over his nieces sometimes and is an architect but that's it. We don't know much about him, he seems pretty cookie cutter perfect and tries his best to communicate, until a point where he just stops. Where he could've easily said "hey I've signed an NDA, but you'll know more soon, and I promise you'll like it." None of it made me interested in him, or see much chemistry between the two.
I know this next part is really dumb, and I don't read books for smut, but if it's included I feel like I need to talk about it. The smutty scenes were just so boring. There was a lot of thrusting and basically that's it. While realistic, the fact that she was overjoyed at having being given 2 orgasms in a night and having sex 3 times in 12hrs, was so thoroughly stupid to me. This is a romance people! Let's bump that number up!! Having said that, the smut in the Epilogue was miles better and much more fun.
The book ends in a way that's barely a HFN, because they've left a still rather big question unanswered. Which does get resolved in the epilogue, but I'm a firm believer that everything should be tied up when the book says END, and not rely on the epilogue to divulge critical information, despite the fact that I read every prologue and epilogue.
I really enjoyed Colette and Garrett's insta-love ski resort romance.
Colette is an easy character to root for. Her Olympic ski dreams were crushed by an injury several years prior, but she doesn't dwell on what could have been. Instead, she is focused on enjoying life as a ski instructor in her small hometown of Butterfly Ridge. She is friends with most of her fellow employees (Patrick can F ALL THE WAY OFF) and gets to spend time on the mountain with her BFF, Jayden. I love that her best friend is a man and they have a 100% platonic relationship—more of this, please!! She is exactly what I would want in a bestie: a quick sense of humor, an adventure-seeking personality, and the ability to be both feminine and a total badass on the mountain. I get why Garrett is instantly drawn to her.
If there was ever a man whose photo belongs in the dictionary next to love at first sight, it is Garrett. This man is down hard for Colette from the moment she helps him into his skis. I love that he's appropriately flirty, never pushing into creep territory. And he is such a great uncle to his nieces that Colette mistakes him for their (very married) father. He constantly impressed me with what an overall good guy he is—to his family, to his friends, and especially to Colette.
Having come from E.L. Koslo's Masked Men of Sage Springs series, I was surprised by how slow of a burn the spice was. Not a criticism, as the spice was spicing when it hit, just something I noted while reading.
I appreciate that the developers-coming-to-town side plot subverted expectations. It was a refreshing change and a genuine surprise.
This was a great first entry in the new Match Made in Butterfly Ridge series, and I'm excited to see where the rest of the series will take us.
Thank you to the author and Luna Literary Management for providing an ARC.

I really enjoyed this book! The plot was amazing and watching the relationship between Colette and Garrett form was great! I also loved Harper and Hailie! Small town romance is always a great read!! I can’t wait for the next book of this series!
⛷️ He Fell First, and It Wasn't on the Slopes! ❄️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4 Stars | 🌶️🌶️ 2 Chili Peppers
Apparently, the bunny slope is a dangerous place to be when a ridiculously charming man shows up with two adorable little girls and absolutely NO defense against falling for his ski instructor. 😂❄️❤️
Skiing Is Believing was such a fun introduction to Butterfly Ridge! Between the snowy mountain setting, hilarious misunderstandings, wonderful friendships, and a hero who falls first and HARD, I had such a good time with Colette and Garrett.
Colette's Olympic skiing dreams came crashing down after a career-ending injury, but I loved that she didn't allow that disappointment to define her entire future. She's returned to her hometown, where she's built a life teaching skiing on the mountain she loves. She's independent, adventurous, funny, and perfectly capable of holding her own. I especially loved that she could be feminine and a complete badass on the slopes!
And then Garrett arrives. 😂❤️
This man is completely smitten from the moment Colette helps him into his skis, and honestly, I couldn't blame him! His awkward flirting was adorable, and I loved that he never pushed her boundaries. Colette has a firm rule against dating tourists, but Garrett is more than willing to take whatever time she'll give him, even if that means starting as friends.
Their first meeting also comes with some hilarious mistaken identity. Colette assumes Garrett is the married father of the two little girls accompanying him, when he's actually their uncle. And watching Garrett interact with his nieces was one of my favorite parts of the story! He's such a loving, playful uncle, and seeing that softer side made him even more swoon-worthy. 🥹
I also have to mention Jayden! I absolutely loved Colette's friendship with him. Give me more genuinely platonic male-female friendships in romance, please! Their relationship was supportive, comfortable, and full of the kind of easy banter that comes from knowing someone so well. And now I'm especially excited to see what the future holds for him.
What I enjoyed about Colette and Garrett's romance was the combination of instant attraction and a slower emotional and physical build. Garrett may have been ready to fall headfirst from the beginning, but Colette needed time to let her guard down. I loved watching him earn her trust through their conversations, flirting, friendship, and all those little moments together.
And when things finally heated up? Let's just say Butterfly Ridge wasn't quite as chilly anymore. 🌶️😂
The storyline involving the burned-down lodge and the developers interested in Butterfly Ridge also added an interesting complication. Colette loves her hometown and wants to protect what makes it special, while Garrett's work could put them on opposite sides of the issue. I appreciated that this part of the story didn't unfold exactly as I expected, and I enjoyed the surprising direction it took.
Between the mountain scenery, small-town friendships, family moments, flirty banter, and two people trying to figure out whether their connection is worth taking a chance on, this was such an enjoyable read.
While it didn't quite reach that five-star favorite feeling for me, I genuinely loved spending time with these characters. Colette was so easy to root for, Garrett was a walking green flag, and his nieces brought an extra dose of sweetness and humor.
Skiing Is Believing was a charming, cozy, and romantic start to the Match Made in Butterfly Ridge series. I'm already looking forward to returning to this little mountain town, especially if Jayden is next! ❄️❤️
Turns out Garrett came to Butterfly Ridge for work, but the biggest fall he took had absolutely nothing to do with skiing. 😂⛷️
Thank you to E.L. Koslo and Luna Literary for the gifted advanced reader copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
As a hopeless romantic, I fell for this story and these characters so quickly. And once again, my heart has been stolen by adorable littles who really bring the story together.
Colette and Garrett's story is so sweet, a great cozy winter-themed read. A meet cute where she's instantly attracted but then confused by the family around him... she's decided to keep him at arm's length during their skiing lessons. She's teaching lessons after her Olympic dreams were cut short, this is how she meets Garrett and his family. He's intrigued by her too, she's cute, quirky, quick witted, absolutely hilarious (especially with her wit behind her) and she's adventurous. She's not scared of tackling what everyone else would consider hard tracks on the mountain. And she's not afraid to toss quick barbs at others to get them on board with her.
Garrett is such a flirt. He was ready to flirt right off the bat because he was absolutely smitten with her. I don't know who I would say fell first... but I can tell you that I fully believe he fell harder. He reminded me a lot of my husband, flirting awkwardly but so determined to keep the flirting going that it was so sweet. Nearly cavity inducing sweet. Once Col realized that the little adorable girls were his nieces, she watched him with awe in how he worked with them, treated them and played along with their boldness.
Their insta-love was rounded out with amazing chemistry. When they were flirting, it was adorable flirting, not pushing too far, respecting each other in the beginning to not push too far over the edge of what was appropriate. Their maturity showed in every aspect of the story.
It was so much fun to witness the mistaken identity scene unfold. As the reader, leading up to it, we knew what was happened. We knew who was who... the characters, lost in the moment... it was just so perfectly wrapped up with a bow. Teasing their best friend and teasing each other, it was so cute and one of the more funny mistaken identities I've read in a while.
Their relationship was built off of insta-love and definite attraction, but they did take their time to get to know each other a bit. Colette had a run against dating or one-nights with customers. Garrett was willing to wait and break down that wall brick by brick... even if his time was limited. He fell for her, in more ways than one (he's a terrible skier).
A quick note toward the adorable nieces in this story. They really helped make the story feel more real because you know the saying "kids say the darndest things" is written throughout this story and will make you literally laugh out loud.
While I felt everything rushing and going by at the speed of a bullet... it was all tied up nicely and swoony by the end. I am a big fan of grand gestures and that's Garrett's middle name, apparently.
Thank you so much to E.L. Koslo and Luna Literary for this ARC opportunity.
TL:DR ⭐️ 4.25/5 ❄️ Winter romance ⛷️ Small town romance 🎿 Local skier x tourist ❤️🔥 Slow burn 🧑🧑🧒🧒 Found family 📈 Off the charts chemistry from the start ❌ No third act breakup 🤫 Mistaken identity 🫶 Insta love 💙 He fell first (literally and physically) and harder 🌶️ 3/5
Thank you E.L. Koslo for this ARC! I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT, my only complain is that it was way too short of a book! "Match Made in Butterfly Ridge" introduces us to Colette, a ski instructor whose life takes an unexpected turn when she meets Garrett. Their meet-cute is both charming and playful. Colette is teaching two girls when Garrett arrives, and she initially believes he is married because of his two daughters. After a mix-up, Dane, a fellow instructor swaps places with Colette, leading her to teach Garrett how to ski. Colette's best friend, Jayden, is waiting for an architect to discuss plans for opening a restaurant and invites Colette to join him. Although Jayden thinks his friend may be unattached, Colette is hesitant about dating anyone in Jay's circle but agrees to meet up with them. As Garrett spends more time with Colette, he can't stop thinking about her, and she finds herself drawn to him, unsure about his role in the girls' lives. An accident with a helmet leads to Garrett asking Colette out for hot cocoa; however, she declines, stating she doesn't date tourists. She wants to keep things friendly and avoids feeling cheap or foolish. Garrett, understanding her concerns, suggests they can be friends. This prompts Colette to clarify whether he is married. When he assures her he's not, she relaxes, realizing her initial assumptions were wrong. While Colette has her rules about tourists, her feelings for Garrett begin to soften as they ski together, culminating in a sweet kiss. Garrett expresses that he likes Colette more than just a friend and wishes to explore a relationship. Though he lives over an hour away, he is committed to making things work. After a fun night out at her cousin's bar, where the two try to play coy with each other for Jayden, their chemistry is undeniable. They share a dance and a kiss, leading to a memorable night at Garrett's place. The next morning, Colette worries that Garrett might forget her and not return. He reassures her that he will come back, and as they share their feelings, Colette admits she's falling for him. Garrett reciprocates, revealing that he has already fallen for her. With Dane's birthday approaching, Garrett faces commitments that bring tension into their romance. The story ends on a heartwarming note, with Colette and Garrett's love story firmly established. I am excited to see Mackenzi and Jayden’s stories unfold next!

Ride the slopes with this fun in the snow romance by EL Kolso. Skiing is Believing starts off her A Match Made in Butterfly Ridge series that, while on the surface a sweet romance, if you look deeper brings two people who are truly terrified of losing the other, while holding back feelings about how they really feel. I haven’t read many books by Kolso, but the ones I have I have thoroughly enjoyed and love going on the journey with our MCs as they find love.
Colette and Garrett couldn’t be more different. One is coming home to find peace after a career ending injury happens. The other is a developer who is working on finding the best land and price for his client. The one thing Colette will never let happen is someone messing with her perfect home and mountain that she learned to ski on. Yet these two are magnetic together. An attraction from the beginning, a connection that deepens faster than they expect, and a choice that makes them both question when is love worth fighting for.
Kolso does a wonderful job in giving both our MCs depth and complexities. Garrett is a smart business man, but get him around his nieces and he becomes the hilarious funcle and he loves this title. Colette has always refused to date tourists, but something about Garrett hooked into her and didn’t let go. Their friendship is fun to read about, but the yearning definitely creates moments that had my heart racing, just waiting for them to give into said feelings. When they finally do, it’s amazing that the snow didn’t instantly melt all around them.
I really should find the time to read more of Kolso’s books. The ones that I have read I have loved and found entertaining. She writes her characters so well and I want to see them happy. Beyond the wonderful partnerships that are created, she brings characteristics that ground them and make them feel as though they could be real people. The words flow easily, the storyline is easy to follow, and the romance will light you up.
As always, review any author notes before reading.
What to Expect: 🤍Small Town Romance ❄️Enemies to Friends 🤍Friends to Lovers ❄️Skier FMC 🤍Architect MMC ❄️Local x Tourist 🤍Coming Home ❄️Fun in the Snow
Running a few runs behind on this review… But I gotta say, there is just something utterly irresistible about a hero who stumbles onto the bunny hill, completely out of his element, and ends up taking the biggest fall of his life… directly for his ski instructor. ⛷️❄️✨
Skiing is Believing kicks off E.L. Koslo’s new Match Made in Butterfly Ridge series with a cozy, heartfelt winter romance packed with witty banter, small-town charm, and a delightfully awkward hero who stole my heart immediately.
After a career-ending injury shattered her Olympic dreams years ago, Colette Porter rebuilt her life on her own terms. She is confident, adventurous, and completely at home teaching on the mountain, armed with one non-negotiable rule… absolutely never date tourists… Enter Garrett Brooks. He is an architect in town for a quick project, armed with zero skiing ability, two chaotic, adorable nieces, and a serious case of mistaken identity right out of the gate.
From the second Colette straps him into his skis, Garrett is down bad. His earnest, endearingly awkward flirting completely disarms Colette’s carefully constructed walls. Instead of pushing her boundaries, Garrett is content to start out simply being her friend, earning her trust run by run. Watching their connection evolve from slope-side miscommunications and cozy hot cocoa chats into real, palpable yearning made the slow burn so deeply rewarding.
Colette is a fantastic heroine… grounded, athletic, and fiercely protective of her hometown mountain. Garrett matches her energy with pure green-flag devotion, and his sweet dynamic with his nieces adds the warmest layer of family fun to the story. Throw in incredible banter, a genuinely solid platonic best friendship with Jayden, and an undeniable spark that turns Butterfly Ridge scorching hot once they finally give in, and this was an absolute joy to read.
If you love snowy mountain aesthetics, cinnamon-roll heroes who fall first, and genuine small-town heart… this needs to be on your winter TBR immediately!
A huge thank you to @elkoslo_writes and @lunaliterary.management for my ARC! All thoughts and opinions are 100% my own. No AI was used.
When I requested this ARC, I didn't realize that it was in the same universe as The Masked Men of Sage Springs series, whose audiobooks I devoured a few months ago. I was really excited to see Jay pop up as a main character and can't wait for his book in this series!
Now, back to Skiing is Believing. Collette is a ski instructor who always dreamed of making it to the Olympics. But when an accident ended her skiing career at 19, she had to relearn to walk and skiing was a far off goal in the distance. During her recovery, she attended college and got a degree in Physical Therapy, but hadn't been using it in any capacity when the sports-centric PT jobs she was looking for were extremely hard to come by.
At the ski resort, she's agreed to teach a parent/mini first timers class with two little girls and their dad while their mom hits the slopes. Immediately, the two both feel insane chemistry. Garrett is laying it on thick, and Collette has zero interest in flirting with a married man. Except the woman he's with? Not his wife (sister-in-law), and those little girls in the class? Not his daughters, but his nieces.
When the truth comes out, Collette struggles to keep her attraction to Garrett in check and is really toying with the breaking her no getting involved with toursts rule. Garrett, on the other hand, is actually there primarily for business and will be pitching a project as an architect to an old friend from college. As the week progresses, the more their chemistry grows and the more their lives become intertwined without them even understanding.
I loved Collette and Garrett together. With Collette's guarded nature and Garrett's cute shyness, they were a pair that I loved watching evolve and trying to stay away from each other. Disclaimer: this one is a sloooooooooow burn, but once they get together, it's very worth the time it took to get there.
I'm very excited about this series and can't wait for the next book with Jay and Mack!
I absolutely loved E.L. Koslo’s Masked Men of Sage Springs series, so I have been anxiously waiting to get to Butterfly Ridge. I am such a sucker for a spinoff series, and after getting little glimpses of this world in the previous books, especially that reveal in Smokin’ Situation, I was so ready to see what this series was going to give us.
Garrett and Colette were such a fun couple to start the series with. I loved the mistaken identity in the beginning, Garrett’s awkward flirting, and just watching their relationship slowly build from there. The slow burn was done incredibly! I really enjoyed getting all of those little moments along the way and watching the tension build as they got closer. The way Colette had her walls up and Garrett had to actually work his way past them instead of everything happening too quickly was just chef's kiss.
Garrett with his nieces was probably one of my favorite parts though. As a single mom to my own crazy little girl, there were so many scenes with them that had me laughing because I could relate way too much. I also loved getting to see that side of Garrett because it made him even more lovable.
At this point, I already know I am going to read anything E.L. Koslo writes, and Skiing is Believing was such a fun start to Butterfly Ridge. I am SO excited for Jay and Mack in Uphill Battle. Add in a single mom FMC and I already know I am going to be way too emotionally invested in that one.
❄️🎿 When a brand-new-to-me author makes me fall for a snowy small town, a hot skier, and a romance I couldn’t put down… I KNOW I’ve found a good one! ❤️
Skiing is Believing by E.L. Koslo was such a fun surprise! This was my first book by this author, and what a way to make an introduction. 😍
This is the first book in the Match Made in Butterfly Ridge series, and I loved getting swept away to Butterfly Ridge. Give me skiing, gorgeous mountain scenery, small-town vibes, and romance, and I’m happy!
Colette was so easy to root for. After an injury ends her Olympic skiing dreams, she returns home and starts over as a ski instructor. I loved her strength and determination to build a new life for herself.
And then there’s Garrett. 🥵❤️ The chemistry between these two was so good! Garrett completely won me over, especially seeing his softer side with his nieces. Once he fell for Colette, this man was ALL IN.
I also loved Jayden and the genuine friendship he had with Colette. Every good romance needs a great best friend!
Overall, this was a sweet, fun small-town romance filled with chemistry, friendship, family, humor, and plenty of heart. ❤️ It was such a cozy escape, and I loved watching Colette and Garrett find their way to each other.
Since E.L. Koslo is a new-to-me author, I’m definitely curious about what comes next. I’m excited to see where the Match Made in Butterfly Ridge series goes!
🏔️❄️🎿 If you love small-town romance, skiing, mountain settings, strong heroines, and swoony heroes, add this one to your TBR!
This is the perfect palate cleanser if like me you read a lot of smut that smuts hard.
its super s l o w burn
Colette is an ex pro skier and is now a ski instructor. She is a bit of a homebody and has to be forced out by her friends, she has strict rules that she does not hook up with tourists and usually shoots them down when they try it on while she is trying to teach them how to ski. She meets a guy in the rental shop who is clueless but cute and then she goes to her next family ski lesson and guess who is there with his two daughters and his stunning wife………or is he just the uncle?? Her best friend Jayden (Jay) is hounding her to meet him and his college friend for dinner later on in the week and Colette reluctantly agrees to be Jay’s wing woman for the night.
Garrett is in town to meet his college friend Jay and help him to expand his brewery into a restaurant. He’s set up some dinner with his other mate Cole for Friday night but first he has to help his nieces with their ski lessons for the week. While his brother and Sister-in-law hit the intermediate slopes.
Oh, can you see where this is going? This has the makings of a GREAT story the confusion as to if the hot guy in rentals is married or not, the friend called Cole that Jay talks about, the immediate attraction between two people.
Thank you, Luna Literary, for the amazing ARC of Skiing Is Believing by E.L. Koslo .
This was a 3.75⭐ read for me.
Sport romance is a totally new genre for me, and skiing is a sport I had never really thought about trying. But after reading this book, I’m actually considering giving it a try⛷️
The way skiing is portrayed in this story was thrilling. The FMC’s love for the sport, the excitement, the risks because what sport doesn’t have them!!!,and the beautiful image of a mountaintop covered in fresh, white snow were all so lovely to imagine. I who had seen snow only once and barely having had time to enjoy . This book shown me snow in new light and want go try enjoying and creating new memories.
Our FMC, Colette, has won three junior national championships in the past but now works as an instructor at Butterfly Ridge. Our MMC, Garrett, is an architect who visits with his family for a business deal and some much-needed family time. His first skiing experience brings him to Colette as her trainee, and he soon starts falling for her and trying to flirt with her. But Colette has some misunderstanding about him.
They misunderstand each other in ways you’ll have to discover for yourself while reading. 😉
This book offers cozy winter vibes, sporting fun, family moments, and a little sadness. The plot and writing are easy to read ,making it a light and enjoyable read.
If you’re looking for a cozy winter sport romance, please give it a read and have fun reading & ⛷️.
Ms. Koslo is one of my go-to authors. She consistently delivers brilliantly written stories with relatable characters you can imagine being right there with. Skiing is Believing is an entertaining book filled with laughs, found family, strong friendships, lots of flirting, and some dirty talk. Now, a story without some dirty talk and steamy scenes would not be a book by Ms. Koslo. She somehow knows exactly how much to add to keep her readers fully engaged. Skiing is Believing features two strangers meeting at the Bunny Slope, and he falls first. Garrett and Collette were terrific together. She doesn't flirt with the clients, but there is something about Garrett that breaks through her defenses. I loved how Garrett was willing to accept whatever Collette was willing to give him, so their friendship started, but sparks flew and hearts melted the snow around them. From the first page to the last, these two had my full attention. The addition of his nieces was the icing on the cake. The saying "From the mouths of babes" hits home in this book. At times, I couldn't stop laughing. I also appreciated the connection to some of her previous books and the carryover of characters. If you're looking for a sweet, easy-to-read love story that might even inspire you to try skiing, this is the book for you.
I loved this story! The banter between Collette and Garrett is so much fun, and the little bit of mistaken identity (on sides – he thinks Cole is a guy; she thinks he’s married) creates a layer to their budding relationship that seems to only work with these two. Collette, Cole, Coley, is a ski instructor, after an injury takes her out of being a professional. Garrett is in town to help Jayden design his new restaurant, but brings his family with him to make it a family trip. When the adults want to go skiing, but the girls are put into beginners class, and Garrett joins them. It’s technically a parent/child class, so the assumption Collette makes about Garrett is an easy mistake. He also happens to be her private lesson in the afternoon. Her hard and fast rule? She doesn’t date tourists, but even she can’t deny the chemistry these two had going from their first page together. Cole and Gar are the kind of characters you could see yourself getting a beer or hanging out with. Both are easy going, even if Garrett is very set in his ways and needs routine and structure. E.L. does a fantastic job of bringing these characters to life in a way that you keep turning the page because you want to see your friends FINALLY get together. Knowing that Jayden’s book is next has me so excited for his redemption. This was a great intro to Butterfly Ridge!
Skiing is Believing is a great start to this series. If you've read the Masked Men of Sage Springs series you'll get glimpses of all of our favorites from that series here too.
I immediately loved Colette when I started this book and I adored this fresh take on a winter romance. She's a little prickly, but mostly she's just exasperated being surrounded by boys all the time. These characters are full of charm and there's a lot of fun teasing and banter throughout the book.
When Colette and Garrett first meet their tension is clear and I loved their meet-cute and meet-cute take two. He's a bit hesitant at first, but his charm comes out quickly and I enjoyed how Colette and Garrett seemed to just fit. Despite her hesitation, his charm wins her over.
This book is a super slow burn and the tension builds so perfectly throughout the story in the sweetest and most fun ways and I just loved the chemistry between Colette and Garrett. Add in his two hilarious neices and this is such a heartwarming and enjoyable winter romance.
TROPES: Small Town Mistaken Identity Rom Com Banter Slow Burn

Great start to a series This is book 1 of the Match Made in Butterfly Ridge series and features Garrett and Colette. They meet and are instantly attracted to each other but she mistakenly comes to the wrong conclusion and thinks he is unavailable, whilst he unbeknownst to what she is thinking, flirts with her. This was a slow burn romance with fun times, lots of banter and a little spice. I loved it. Garrett and Colette meet through their mutual friend Jay, he is to design Jay’s mountainside restaurant. But will anything serious ever come of this, as he’s not a resident and will most likely leave at the end of his contract? I also enjoyed the interconnecting characters from previous stories and look forward to reading more in this series. Thank you E L Koslo and Luna Literary for the opportunity to read this story.
E.L. Koslo writes stories that have you eager for the characters to get together. The MC and LI were attracted to one another from the beginning, though I love how they were friends first before anything else developed (though they secretly wanted one another)
The LI is an absolute sweetheart and how he treats his nieces is adorable and makes you swoon. The kids in the book say the funniest things and it made me laugh. I love them.
The book is a perfect mix of funny banter, sweetness with a touch of spice. It’s slow burn and just makes you want them to get together quickly, while enjoying the ride it took to get there.
Small town ski romance Witty banter She falls first… Literally Hidden/mistake identity Opposites attract Slow burn Romcom Jaded Ski Instructor FMC Upbeat Architect MMC Unknown Mutual Friendships Adorable Kid Characters
I’m always eager to jump back into any of Koslo’s writing! And this book didn’t leave me disappointed! I devoured this so quick. Such a slow burn. The anticipation of them getting together. The tension and banter was perfect, I loved the buildup. The chemistry was scorching. I loved seeing Garrett with both of his nieces, he’s swoon worthy. And I love his awkward, flirting attempts with Colette, her walls were built up so high I could definitely relate. Oh, and I loved the side characters! I can’t wait to read their stories.
This book was a lot of fun! Colette and Garrett have a slow burn, flirty banter filled romance. If you have read E.L.’s masked men series, you’ll see some of those couples pop up here!
❄️Small town ❄️Ski instructor x client ❄️Mistaken identity
Colette is a small town ski instructor who doesn’t mix business with pleasure. Until the dad (or is he the uncle?) of the two little girls she is teaching, catches her eye.
Garrett is in town for work and is on a mission to learn how to ski. He is, quite frankly, awful, but he keeps coming back to get to know Colette.
These two are so sweet together and I just loved the progression of their relationship! Garrett’s brother/SIL and nieces were also hilarious and had me cracking up so hard!
I've read other books by this author set in the same universe and really enjoyed them, so I was looking forward to this one. In that interconnected series, there are glimpses of Colette, so I was looking forward to reading her book.
I really enjoyed Colette and Garrett’s book. Their banter was cute and I was eagerly awaiting both of them finding out Jayden was their mutual friend.
I am convinced that Colette’s best friend Jayden is going to be the subject of a second chance, secret baby romance very soon. I thought he'd be next after reading his big brother’s book in a previous, interconnected series by this author, and I'm excited that his story will be next lol
I received a free advance copy of this book from the author, but finished reading on Kindle Unlimited.
Colette and Garrett have a whole lot standing between them, starting with her rule about not dating tourists! 😂⛷️
Colette has already had to rebuild her life after losing the skiing career she dreamed of, and Butterfly Ridge means everything to her. Garrett comes into town with his two nieces, plenty of charm, and a job that could change the place she calls home. The attraction between them is one thing, but finding out what his work could mean for the town makes everything a lot more complicated.
Between the sweet moments with Garrett's nieces, the flirting, and Colette's determination to protect the place she loves, there's more to their story than a mountain-town crush. ❤️ Thank you to E.L. Koslo and Luna Literary Management for the ARC opportunity.
E.L. Koslo created a story perfectly balanced with tender moments, witty banter and a slow burn romance that has you anticipating when the characters will get together.
Garrett and Colette are adorable. From the moment they meet, the attention is there but she thinks he is unavailable and he, not knowing what she is thinking, flirts with her. Her prickly ways only makes Garrett want to get to know her better.
The slow buildup of their relationship was perfect, as Garrett was there to help with a job, so her hesitation is understandable. I loved the chemistry between these two and the banter was so fun.
Thank you to Luna Literary and EL Koslo for the eARC of this book.
Cute, cute, cute!! This was a sweet and fast read. Colette and Garrett had immediate chemistry, and I just liked the overall sweet vibe of this story. It was a very slow burn and I kind of wish that sped up a little bit, but that is my only call out for this book. I like EL‘s books and this one did not disappoint! I think there are a lot of additional great characters in this book that can ensure this series continues. Would definitely recommend!
This book is a series starter for Butterfly Ridge, but there are references to the Sage Springs series and characters (Neighboring towns). Colette is a sky instructor at Butterfly Ridge sky resort, she's teaching a children's class when she meets Garrett. She thinks he is the father of the adorable little girls she's teaching, but it's a case of mistaken identity. They have great chemistry and you also meet her co-workers which I'm sure are going to be the couples in future books.
EL writes engaging stories that you just can't put down. I highly recommend this book.
I loved this! It was super cute and I really enjoyed all of the characters. The plot was fun and kept me engaged.
I read the author’s masked men series and loved it. I was surprised how the spice was so different in this. It was almost a slow burn - as much as you can have with almost insta love- but it was so good. The spice once it happened was definitely spicy, but it wasn’t the main focus of the book. I feel like it felt right with the story.
Garett and Colette are so cute together and I really loved how she was with his nieces.
Garrett was so good with both his nieces. It truly shows what an amazing man he is! I also loved his awkward flirting attempts to get past Colette’s walls.
Besides the main characters, there were also many interesting side characters such as Jay, and I bet his second chance romance will be an explosive one.
