This was a cute, cozy novella to start the fall season!
Penelope, a witch, meets Sanders, a real life knight, during a Halloween party. Sanders sounds like he’s straight from a medieval time. Turns out died hundreds of years ago, but a curse wakes him up every 25 years on Halloween, with him going back to his state of perpetuity when Halloween ends. Sanders and Penelope have an immediate connection, one that may span centuries.
The “I’ve been searching for you” time travel aspect of Penelope and Sanders’ connection was so sweet, and their connection was organic. Sanders adapting to the modern world was hilarious.
Highly recommend if you want a straightforward paranormal romance with fall vibes as it’s a quick read!

This was so good! Read it in one sitting. Perfect novella for fall. I'm a sucker for a paranormal true love story, and this book just got me. Sanders was the perfect gentleman and those little quotes at the beginning of the chapter from him?!?!?! 🫠 Even though it was a short book, the progression of their love story and their connection didn't feel rushed, I was feeling all the feels😏😍🥵😭🥰
"The way with which I crave her is unnatural. And the most natural thing in the world."
"She is the cure to my loneliness. The cure to my pain. The cure to every single thing that ails me."
Tropes:
-witch x knight in shining armor
-MC is cursed and is dead but can't pass on
-time traveling
-forced proximity
-only one bed
-fated love
-green flag MMC
-open door spice

Chivalry is Not Dead: ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
“If I pause for a moment, deep in my bones it is as if my body knows yours. My soul calls to your soul.”
When a knight who died centuries ago shows up on Halloween, Penelope isn't really sure what to do with him.
Tropes:
– Witch/knight
– Time Travel
– Only One Bed
– Magical Small Town
– Paranormal romcom
This was such a delight! I read it in one sitting, and I couldn’t put it down. Fun, lighthearted, with so much love. I had a smile on my face the entire time. The characters are perfect. The writing is humorous. I wish I could read this all over again for the first time. Perfect for the season!!!

If you know me you know I loveeee a quick, saucy, usually bizarre novella. The kind that feels like eating a gas station taquito: more about the experience than actual flavor and even when it’s bad it’s still fun. Well consider this one a hot apple pie from QT. (Plz understand my deep love of the QT hot apple pie) Not only does it have all the things I love about a novella, it’s also done with heart and writing that feels nutritious. Okay, enough with food metaphors.
TLDR: not just because Rachel is a gem, but you should read this novella. It’s sweet, fun, hot, and left me wanting the next story like yesterday.

Chivalry is Not Dead by Rachel Lewis
“With her, I can fly.”
Okay - pop quiz: What happens when your author bestie drops a surprise paranormal rom-com novella four days before the rainiest, most perfect reading day of the start of fall?
Answer: You grab that blanket, cuddle up on the couch, and devour it in one sitting.
This was the absolute best way to kick off spooky season. Walk with me:
- A magical town in the southeast with witches
- A halloween party thrown by a werewolf, during which, her witch best friend bumps into a knight (note: not one in costume, a real one)
- A centuries old curse
- Did I mention the knight is hot and blonde? Because the knight is hot and blonde.
In under 125 pages, Rachel Lewis managed to bring me into a storybook town I never wanted to leave. Just enough characters that you feel like you know them. A chivalrous knight who loves cereal. A witch with glasses who doesn’t believe she’s powerful enough to save this man. The rest? You’ll have to read to find out.
You don’t want to sleep on this one - here’s what I suggest: Your COZIEST pajamas, a cup of herbal tea (spiked, if that’s your jam), the lights down low, a fall candle burning, and this novella. You can thank me later.🧡🛁📚✨

This was a fun and quirky read with a really entertaining premise. I loved the contrast between a medieval knight and the modern world, especially when it came to the language barrier.
The book has a cute paranormal-romance vibe, with magic, mystery, and a touch of historical fantasy.
That said, I felt that some parts could have been developed more. The pacing was a little uneven at times, and I would have loved more depth in both the characters and the world-building. The romance also felt like it could have benefited from a bit more buildup.
Overall, it was an entertaining and easy read with a unique concept.

Perfect Fall novella!
This was just what I needed to get me out of a reading slump and in the mood for fall magic. The pacing is so good, not rushed, and easy to devour. The premise is fun and creative, and I now have the urge to read more knightly MMC's. Sanders was swoony worthy!

What a sweet and fun novella. Little bit of magic little bit of time travel and a little bit of spice! I love that there were even sports!
Perfect for the transition into fall. Can’t wait to see what else we get up to in this universe.

this was like a 3.25! a cute little fall novella that was quick paced and semi swoony. the witchy element and sanders being a medieval knight was a fun touch, but i liked how the book was still modern! i think i would’ve enjoyed it a little more if it was longer

The perfect Halloween novella. A knight in shining armor, time travel, curses, fated mates, witches, were best friends, all the magic and Halloween vibes one could need!
Sanders was the definition of chivalry and his little thoughts/one liners as chapter titles were so perfect and swoon-worthy!
