Vampire Pack, book 1 of Soulmate University by the Queen Lola Glass
A Hockey Romance 🏒🥅⛸️
OMG, get ready for the sweetest vampire/ shifter romance. ✨📚💖
Carmen and King: Shifter and Vampire, 🐺 🧛 both attend Soulmate University and are hockey players 🏒 on the same university team. They are also romantically entangled.
Paranormal romance Queen 👸 Lola Glass has done it again, and diving into this Advanced Reader Copy was an absolute dream come true! 🧚♀️️📖🔥 From the very first page, I was completely hooked, dragged headfirst into a slightly different world where vampires and shifters go to school together, mate and have children together. They aren’t separated or enemies as with many paranormal romance books. I literally couldn't put it down and read in one sitting. It wasn’t hard because this was not a full-length novel with hundreds of pages. The story got right to the point and progressed quickly although it was a university novel they were only a couple of mentions of them being at Soulmate University, but there were no classes in any of the scenes. The novel didn’t focus on the hockey games either. It was strictly about Carmen and King‘s relationship. Carmen and King did have friends and roommates and they were also mentioned which leaves room for additional side arcs regarding them. However, “Vampire Pack” gave off Novella-side arc story vibes. But hey! I am here for it. I got straight to it. It gave us a love story without all the fluff. This also gives the writer the opportunity to give us a larger story with all of the characters or maybe even focus on the university itself with the stories of some of these characters.
I’m not sure if this is the author’s intention since this is book 1 of Soulmate, University, but I’ll definitely check out anything else that comes out regarding this series. 😱😍
I’ve stated before in other reviews for Lola glass’s books that I’m a huge fan of hers. Hence me calling her the queen. It isn’t much that she writes that I do not enjoy. I can never go wrong with picking up one of her books.
If you are looking for an addictive page-turner that will warm your soul- this is IT! 🌟🏃♀️ Run, don't walk, to grab this gem as soon as it hits shelves—you are not ready for this sweet treat! 💖🎉📖✨

I'm sad I finished it already. This is a cute, sweet book, and I loved every second of it. Yes, some parts were a bit predictable, but in the best way. And, yes, it's a hockey book, but, for those uninterested in hockey or who don't know much about hockey, it's really more of a romance loosely framed by hockey, and takes place more off the ice than on
I finished this book yesterday, and I'm already looking forward to [redacted] and [redacted]'s book next.

Adorable ice hockey shifter and vampire couple
Carmen and King are a shifter and vampire. They both attend Soulmate University (as do most werewolves and vampires, living peacefully side by side) and are both ice hockey players. She's the goalie, one of the few female players, and he's one of 3 vampire players (the other two being his pack and also on their team).
Carmen is independent and strong willed. She's determined that she and King are enemies-with-benefits, with him constantly shielding her and making her job as the goalie very difficult; though he does protect her in a way, beating up anyone that tries to hurt her on the ice. But on the other hand she's very possessive of him, not even wanting to even consider the idea of him biting anyone else.
"I know I'm playing with fire. I keep trying to put it out," I said halfheartedly.
It wasn't a secret that I'd never made a real effort to end things with King.
"You love the fire, Carmen." Paige said it kindly, and she was right.
I was addicted to the fire.
She knew it.
Mal knew it.
King definitely knew it.
I'd been fking my enemy for five years, and I was absolutely, overwhelmingly obsessed with him.
He's adorable, in a six-and-a-half-foot of muscle and power kind of way; having fallen for her the day they met he's spent the last few years trying to persuade her to want the mate bond (while stopping her from taking the bite to seal it accidentally). I love how he has a nest of her clothes, which he has to keep swapping with her for new items as her scent wears off.
"Is there a label you would prefer I use, rather than calling you my goalie?" he asked.
My throat tightened.
A label other than his goalie.
But after her shoulder gets hurt really badly in a game, one thing leads to another and a mate bond is triggered (I loved it when Mal and Paige welcomed him to the pack). Now they need to work out how to be mates-with-benefits.
A slightly shorter wonderfully sweet paranormal mates romance by Lola Glass. Lola’s stories are always so well written with humour, banter, romance and human nature (worries, insecurities, etc) and this one is no different. It's full of a mix of werewolves and vampires, with obsession, possessiveness, growling, tenderness, brilliant chemistry, friendships, wonderful humour from the first page, great flirting and banter, and plenty of sweet spice💖. An addictive read I couldn't put down and read in a day; would strongly recommend.
I look forward to seeing more of them and their friends Mal, Paige, Jude and Hollis in the next in this series.
"We should hit the town for our last hurrah with you as a single woman, then?"
I smiled. "If you want to get murdered by a vampire hockey player."
"I have an unfortunate connection with another vampire hockey player that will probably keep me alive."

Bites, Barbs & Benefits: I Was Hooked
What it is about:
Werewolf goalie Carmen and vampire defenseman King are accidentally mated, during one of their casual enemies-with-benefits sexcapades.
What I loved:
🩷 it has all my favorite tropes: enemies-with-benefits, vampire/werewolf couple,...
🩵 all the paranormal elements: going into heat, nest, werewolf knots, vampire barbs 👀, mating through mutual biting, pack link,...
🩷 his respect and patience for her; not letting her bite him because he wants HER to choose HIM #swoon
🩵 how obsessed he is with the scar he left on her inner thigh, which is visible to everyone #possessivemuch
🩷 the delicious spiciness: #155 f*cks, 56 heats, 21 c*cks, 7 b*rbs,...
What I struggled with:
🤔 I loved the At First Bite series (Sweet Blood, Wolf Blood) more, because in comparison this story felt a bit too superficial (granted, there is a 300-page difference between the two)
What you need to know:
• interconnected standalone
• dual POV
• paranormal hockey romance
• enemies-to-lovers
• vampire MMC x werewolf FMC
• defenseman x goalie
• situationship-to-mates
• he falls first, he falls harder
• it's always been you

I loved it but I'm talking from the place of not loving drama, slow burns, and the miscommunication trope. The book starts when the couple already established, but the FMC doesn't believe in the seriousness of their relationship. Thus, the main focus is on how she accepts and flourish in this relationship: no drama, no pain, no reasons to cry, just simple acceptance and love. And I loved it, it was exactly what I needed in the current state of the world. The MMC (King) is just a perfect boyfriend. The universe is full of interesting details, other characters made me fall in love with them and I can't wait for the next books in the series.
Tropes: he fell first, lovers to mates, werewolves and vampires.
Standalone, HEA, spice level 2 out of 5.
The book is perfect for someone who wants to escape from the real world and do not experience any additional stress from reading (I really appreciated this part).

I have been a huge follower of Lola Glass but this one did not hit home for me. I did not feel the connection with any of these characters, this supposed enemies and lovers did not work. There was not much world building or explanation on why we hate the MMC. I could not really see why King even loved Carman. I’ve read several novella and this one I felt fell short. Not enough of character building or storyline. I wish the author would slow down and try to tap back in to some of her older books and create a book with character/world building and feelings of emotions. I don’t even feel like this had instalove. I am not sure what it is other the rushed words. So disappointed!.

A Perfect Match
A steamy, sizzling read introducing the new series from Lola Glass an amazing Paranormal writer.
Lola gives you everything in her books, fun, obsession, tenderness, love, entertainment, possessiveness as both King and Carmen find their way around their relationship.
King has always known she was his, he was just waiting for her to catch up.
Loved this read with lots of possessiveness, growling and swoon-worthy moments.

Vampire Pack came out today! It’s the first book in her new series and as always, I loved it! This books main characters are a vampire MMC and a werewolf FMC. They both play on the same hockey team. They’ve been “enemies with benefits” for years and haven’t chosen to be mates until one night it accidentally happens. Then the fun begins! As always Lola’s books always leave me happier after reading them and they’re the best bad mood cure or reading slump cure. I’m excited for the next book in this series!

Amazing as always, if you like hockey and vampires and werewolves this story is perfect for you, it is a short and light novel I would have loved it to be a little longer since I enjoyed it a lot but it was very fun and leaves you wanting more, I loved how Lola created a new school about natural and how she explains it, the characters as always are a green flag, excited to see what new stories Lola has for us.

I’m not usually a massive fan of hockey romances as I find them quite samey. I also don’t know how but Lola has fully converted me. I also don’t know how she comes up with knockout new series that I just want to keep reading to find out what happens next. Five stars for a too short but fantastic story

Lola knocks it out of the park, again! I love a good enemies to lovers, especially when only one thinks they're enemies. The main characters were great, the background pack characters made me excited for the future books about them, and the spice was spicy 🥵! Thanks for the advanced copy, I loved every minute of it!

It was short sweet and to the point. Carmen loves to push Kings “buttons” and gets to reap all the rewards. Especially after an intense shoulder injury where they accidentally bond. It’s short sweet and to the point. The idea is there and I can’t wait for the other books to be done so we can see how this little pack works out. I love Lola’s books and I’m so happy I was able to read this one.

Short and sweet! This one started off with a bang and kept that pace the whole way through. Very enjoyable read with an obvious plot but who cares? I didn’t! King and Carmen and fanfic! I loved it. Can’t wait for the next book.

Lola brings a new series starting with this novella - a paranormal hockey romance featuring a badass MFC and a possessive MMC.
I very much enjoy how Lola creates worlds with differing rules.
Vampire and werewolf packs? Group call style pack link? Don’t mind if I do!

I feel like this book was more of a snack than a full meal. Don’t get me wrong—I thoroughly enjoyed every bite regardless. Lola Glass really knows how to do paranormal romance after all, but I did finish it in one sitting and not just because I couldn’t put it down.
A short and sweet series starter that gives you what feels good without much depth or discomfort along the way, if you’re looking for a semi-spicy read that goes down easy, this is for you. 4 stars.
