Una nuova (per me) scrittrice, che non mancherò di coltivare; i tempi, i luoghi, le atmosfere, i personaggi, la storia sono quelli tipici di un buon romanzo inglese del tardo ottocento e (non mi stancherò di ripeterlo) assai diversi da quelli immaginati dalle moderne scrittrici di 'historical romance'.
Il tessuto narrativo è ricco e insieme finissimo, come un prezioso ricamo vittoriano, di quelli che non ti stanchi di ammirare.
