How would your life change if you knew in your bones that God looks on you not with disappointment, anger, or tepid tolerance, but with joyous love and delight? Jasona Brown understands, through personal experience and years of ministering to others, that when a wall of stones blocks our heart from receiving God's love, we live a stunted Christian life. With Stone by Stone she will help you identify and remove ten stones that may block your intimacy with the God of love--including guilt, unforgiveness, lies, and unhealed memories--so that you can live in the joy of knowing you are God's beloved son or daughter.
I'm part of a group of prayer ministers in my church. We spent several months this past year reading and discussing this book and praying together over personal issues that came up. Stone by Stone brings to light obstacles in our hearts that hinder us from freely and fully receiving God's love and living in wholeness, in the joy of the Lord. Topics covered include:guilt, unforgiveness, lies believed, trauma, and unhealed memories. I enjoyed the conversational style of the author, the way she so transparently shared her own story, and the way her compassion for hurting people comes through.
I loved the way that Jasona explained the struggles so many of us experience while pursuing intimacy with God in both conceptual and practical terms. Not only did she explains the possible origins of any stones that may have built up around readers hearts, but she also humbled herself in sharing her own stones and her own means of tearing them down. This was a remarkable read, one I'm sure I'll come back to time and time again.
This book helped me see and is continuing to show me how to see, how to understand, and how to venture inward. I'm so thankful that Mrs. Brown penned this powerful book. She is humble and true, gentle and real. She doesn't get in the way of the message. The book isn't sappy or trite. It's greatly authentic. I believe Stone by Stone will be a spiritual classic.
