The newest thriller from D.L Fisher pulled me in with the promise of a psychological thriller but what stayed with me was the constant uncertainty. A story built around manipulation, control, gaslighting and secrets that refuse to stay buried is always going to be a banger in my opinion! The tension never really felt forced, instead it slowly tightened, leaving me with the feeling that there was something I just couldn't see yet! I loved how carefully the suspense was crafted. The story gives you pieces of the puzzle but not quite enough to feel completely secure in your theories. Just when I thought I understood what was happening, another detail would pop up and make me rethink everything. And then that ending? What?! There were multiple little things at the end that shocked me and completely changed the way I looked at the whole book! This is definitely one that doesn't need constant chaos and outrageous gimmicks. Just secrets, manipulation and uncertainty. I finished this one and have not stop thinking about it since, and honestly that's exactly what I love in a psychological thriller!

This story unfolds in three parts. In the first part, we meet Elena and Ethan, the picture-perfect couple. But there’s a catch: Ethan seems to be keeping secrets about his new house purchase. With Ethan away on a work trip, Elena decides to check out the area and finds a beautiful, secluded log cabin by a lake that feels almost too good to be true. Perhaps it is, because she discovers Ethan’s truck in the driveway! Oh, and he’s inside the cabin with another woman!
In the second part, we shift to Summer’s perspective, which offers a fresh angle on the situation. I found Summer’s viewpoint intriguing, as it helps us piece together lingering questions. She feels an eerie sense of being watched while alone in the secluded cabin, prompting her to invest in some camera equipment. You know that feeling when you finally close your eyes and begin to feel safe? But who is hiding in the shadows, and what are their intentions?
The final part interweaves the stories of all three characters, gradually unraveling the complex layers of what’s really happening. Elena and Summer are relatable, though your feelings about them might evolve as the story progresses. Ethan, on the other hand, is frustrating yet strangely likable; watching him juggle his lies made me think he’s a bit of a psycho! So, it’s safe to say my feelings about him were "complicated".
Having read numerous books this year centered on "the other woman," I’ll keep my eye rolls to myself. Why does everyone tell Elena she’s imagining things? It reaches a point where she’s admitted involuntarily to a psychiatric ward for a few days. This felt a bit far-fetched, especially since not even her mother, best friend, or husband believed her. Major red flag! And don’t get me started on the gaslighting. I guarantee you’ll find it frustrating!
Overall, the author did an outstanding job of keeping me in the dark about the true nature of events. The vivid descriptions of the remote location and log cabin made it easy to visualize. I felt like I was right there with Elena, peeking at the house from under the willow tree. Every detail contributed to the story’s unsettling energy. I loved how little the author revealed; it kept me on the edge of my seat, eager to uncover what lay around each corner.
This is a fast-paced read filled with twists that seem endless. It's claustrophobic and intense! Wait until you reach the conclusion, followed by the final twist! After navigating this author’s literary maze, you'll find you need more than just a stiff drink to recover. You might want an entire liquor cabinet, a therapist on speed dial, and possibly even a restraining order. Between the scheming of the other woman, the relentless gaslighting that makes you question reality, and the kind of psycho energy that would leave true crime documentaries blushing, one little cocktail simply won’t cut it. You’re looking at a full intervention-level situation here! Ha!

I absolutely ATE THIS BOOK UP!
The Woman in My Home was exactly what I needed, and exactly what I want from a thriller. It was original, unpredictable, and genuinely kept me on my toes. In a genre where it can sometimes feel like you’ve read every twist before, D.L. Fisher managed to give me a story where I truly didn’t know where we were going next.
The storytelling was so well done. It had that perfect balance of giving you enough to stay completely invested while constantly making you need to know more. This was the definition of a “just one more chapter” book…and then suddenly you realize you’ve read half the book in one sitting.
I would recommend anything by D.L. Fisher because I genuinely love her entire catalog, but this one felt different. The Woman in My Home felt like her most mature and evolved work yet. You can really see her growth as an author while still getting everything that makes her stories so addictive.
D.L. Fisher is a relevant, compelling storyteller who knows how to write a thriller that keeps you turning pages. She is absolutely an author to watch in this genre.

Elena reads an email on her husband, Ethan's phone. "Congratulations on your new home". She does some investigation and finds that he has bought a remote cottage, and she thinks it is for her birthday surprise. She goes there, intending to just look, and sees more than she ever wished for.
Ethan is there with another woman..
This is an extremely twisty book. Multiple twists, and perhaps there are too many. The story is good. Some parts misleading, and slightly confusing.
The book is told in the POV's by Elena, and by Summer..... also known as Morgan.
However, not all is as it seems. Elena is on strong medication, and is briefly admitted to a facility after being accused of trying to kill her mother.
I can't say I took to any of the characters. Summer is described as being so sweet and kind and caring. As for Ethan!! Arrrgh!
I wasn't taken with the book, it was too unbelievable, but then, it is a fictional novel.

Elena’s 30th birthday is right around the corner, so when she spies an enticing email on her husband’s phone, of course she snoops and finds out he’s bought her a vacation home in the mountains! Why wouldn’t she ruin the surprise and drive two hours away to check out the cabin in the woods? When she finally reaches her destination and finds Ethan on the balcony wrapped in another woman’s arms, she is devastated. Why did her husband lie to her about being on a work trip, and who is this woman entangled in his embrace?
🥳 What worked
Premise: The story has the irresistible hook of a popcorn thriller and takes off at breakneck speed. I was immediately hooked and fully invested.
Atmosphere: The eerie Poconos cabin created an ideally claustrophobic, isolated setting. Loved this!
Pacing: The tense and relentless pacing grabbed my attention and kept me flipping those pages.
🤔 Things to consider
Logic leaps: You know you will have to have some suspension of disbelief along with logic leaps in any popcorn thriller, but here I had to take logic and disbelief and lock them into a dark closet and throw away the key! These characters make the most reckless, illogical and improbable choices that had me shaking my head!
Twists/Ending: Wait, what? A dizzying number of convenient twists turned this into a bit of an alphabet soup for me.
TW: Extreme gaslighting, infidelity

A very quick and bingeable popcorn thriller, with secrets a la masse! Recommended for fans of Freida McFadden and Daniel Hurst, who love their marital dramas juicy and twisty. 3.5 stars ⭐

Discovering a message confirming a log cabin key under the mat felt like the ultimate romantic surprise. But driving out to the Poconos to see it early turns the entire dream on its head when his truck is sitting right in the driveway... alongside another woman.
The premise hooked me immediately. That initial gut-punch discovery sets off a brilliantly tense game of cat-and-mouse. The isolated mountain cabin makes for a delightfully claustrophobic backdrop, amplifying every bit of suspicion and paranoia as the secrets start unraveling.

I love a domestic thriller that makes me question everything, and The Woman in My Home did exactly that. What begins with a secret cabin and a birthday surprise quickly becomes a story I could not put down.
The tension came from never knowing which version of the truth to believe. Each time I started to trust someone, a new detail made me look at that character differently. I could be angry with someone in one chapter, feel sympathy for them in another, and then start questioning them all over again. I became so invested that I caught myself talking out loud to the book.
The story was filled with layers of secrets, lies, manipulation, suspicion, and doubt. The twists were spread throughout the book, and each one changed how I viewed everything that came before it.
Every answer changed who I trusted, and every twist changed what I believed.
I honestly did not want this book to end. If you enjoy domestic thrillers that keep you guessing and make it difficult to trust anyone, I highly recommend adding this one to your TBR.

A 30th birthday is coming up right along with a text on your husband's phone. You just have to peek. What you find out is hubby has bought you a house in the woods. You might as well go check out this surprise birthday present. Only the surprise is on you, husband is on the balcony of the new home with another woman! And so the gaslighting begins.
This is what we know, no other woman is getting Elena's birthday present or her husband Ethan. But the mystery woman won't give up that easily, either. Twists and turns relating to some incident in the past weave in and out of this jealousy fueled thriller. Gaslighting from pretty much all characters sets the stage for Elena to question everything even while she sets her sights on the other woman. There is a mania built into Elena's character that fuels the pacing. The women are the strongest characters in this thriller which is something I like. However, it also made me wonder why they'd want Ethan in the first place.
A quick read for the thriller reader that loves to question the decisions of all the characters.

I flew through this book, finishing in one sitting. Somewhere between the growing psychological unraveling of Elena to the paranoia of Summer, I was completely pulled in and caught up in the story. That, coupled with a fast moving plot made me too interested to put the book down.
As far as psychological thrillers go, this has all the key ingredients including a suspicious husband, a best friend who is acting off (and overreacting), and not one but two FMCs who become more and more unbalanced as the story goes on.
While not technically labeled a popcorn thriller, it does have a lot of the elements I think of for that sub-genre including a fast moving plot, some over-the-top twists, and while Elena and Summer do both seem off, there was almost a campy feel to their actions. All this came together for a fast, fun, enjoyably unhinged read.
If you are looking for a light-hearted psychological thriller that requires a little suspension of disbelief, give this a read.

🏠I was not expecting this at all! I flew through the book in two sittings. The only reason it wasn’t one was because, well, my family had to eat😂 The plot was so engaging and pulled me in from the start. I kept saying just one more chapter, I really didn’t want to put it down. The author was dropping bread crumbs and I was quickly picking them up but still couldn’t find my way through. Trying to puzzle it out the whole time, one minute knowing exactly where it was going, but the next minute finding out that I didn’t! Once the twists started coming in full force, there was no stopping me from finding out the truth.
The claustrophobic setting of the cabin deep in the woods makes the story all the more compelling. If you enjoy a fast paced psychological thriller with plenty of secrets and lies, then this one is for you. Just be ready to pull up your disbelief suspenders a bit!

This book was exactly what I want in a thriller. Short chapters, a fast-moving story, characters making questionable decisions, and enough messiness to keep me completely invested. And messy as hell? In the absolute best way.
The twist was pretty good. I wouldn’t necessarily call it shocking, but it did exactly what it needed to do, and I really enjoyed how everything played out.
This was my first D.L. Fisher book, but it definitely won’t be my last. I’m already looking forward to working my way through her entire backlog!

okay this one GOT me 😭 every single time I thought I had figured out what was going on, something happened that completely changed my mind again.
I had so many theories while reading this and somehow I just kept getting plot twisted 😂 it was super easy to fly through because I genuinely needed to know what was actually happening and who I could trust.
definitely one of those thrillers where you think you’re being sooo smart and then the book is basically like “lol no” 💀 such a fun read and absolutely worth adding to your TBR if you love fast, twisty thrillers that keep you guessing until the end!

This was my first D.L. Fisher book and I will be trying her again, Five Liars is already loaded on my Kindle.
I loved the humor in this book and enjoyed the writing style. It kept me intrigued and kept the wheels in my head spinning trying to figure out what was happening.
I liked the overall story and the main twist that laid it all out. But it did get to be too much for me. Too many twists and some of them were just too out there.

This book is split into two parts, and the first follows Elena, who is just weeks away from turning 30 when she accidentally reads an email on her husband Ethan’s phone congratulating him on his new house.
Assuming it must be some sort of surprise birthday present, Elena heads to the address… only to find her husband in the arms of another woman.
Now, I need to have a little moan because the whole "husband convinces his wife she’s losing her mind" trope makes me want to smash my head against a wall. Because how has this man not only managed to convince Elena that she’s crazy, but also her best friend, her doctor and her own mother?! The audacity of this man was genuinely raising my blood pressure.
Then we move into part two, where we follow Summer - the supposed “other woman”. Except she isn’t actually the other woman, and that’s about as much as I can say without wandering straight into spoiler territory.
Summer becomes convinced that someone is following her, eventually setting up cameras around her property in an attempt to catch her stalker. From there, everything begins building towards a final showdown between Elena, Summer and Ethan.
I’m not going to lie, I found the backstory connecting the three of them a little dumb, but I guess we were all young and dumb once, I suppose.
But then that final chapter happened.
Just when I thought everything had been wrapped up, the book threw in one last twist that completely blindsided me - and I mean that in the best possible way.
Overall, this was a solid, gripping read that kept me hooked and made it almost impossible to put down until I’d turned the final page. Some parts had me rolling my eyes, but that last twist absolutely earned back a few Panic points.

One important life lesson reading thrillers has taught me… Trust No One, Be Suspicious of Everyone
Somehow, DL Fisher always makes me feel so comfortable and sure of myself that I start to trust certain characters. Do I always trust the wrong characters? Absolutely!!

Gas lighting and coercive control, or is it?
This book is written in the first person. The first half is from the point of view of Elena, the next quarter is from Summer's point of view and afterwards from both offthese and others. I lost track a few times of which person was telling their story and had to check the chapter headings. The book is a mixture of the items in my heading and also of trust and psychology.
I enjoyed it notwithstanding that I did get a little confused at the time. I found it hard to put down. I have read some of the other books by this author, and i enjoyed those too. This one has a very clever plot and readers don't find out what happened completely until the final few pages.

Wow..... I have not had a thriller give me this much whiplash ever. I was legitimately pacing my house while reading this because it was so good and I needed to get to the ending immediately. Definitely didn't see that coming. As a hardcore fan of D.L. Fisher I really didn't think she could top Five Liars (because that book was so freaking god-tier).... But I stand corrected. This is officially her best book to date and all of her books are so good! I can't wait for the next one to come out after I have discussed this book with my therapist 👏

I've seen D.L. Fisher's name mentioned in book groups and I've been following her on IG for a bit now, but this was my first novel of hers I've read. I absolutely loved it!

The characters were developed so well, and when everything finally started coming together, I was honestly dumbfounded. I did NOT see it coming!

Thank you Joffe Books and NetGalley for an early copy of The Woman in My Home. This was a fast reading book, I read it in one day. I was getting confused right from the beginning in who to believe in who was the culprit. I LOVE when books get my mind twisted. This one did NOT disappoint. Ethan was so condescending in his treatment of Summer and I hated it until it was revealed why. I didn’t trust Aimee from the beginning but never understood why until the end which I really didn't like. All in All the book was a good one but I thought the ending could have been better.

I am grateful to have received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. I enjoyed this book. It felt a little far fetched for me, but I am one who likes very VERY realistic content. I know many people who are happy to read and enjoy these kinds of stretches, and if they are your thing, you may love this book. That having been said, as I continued to read, I enjoyed it even more, especially the shifts in the narrator and seeing multiple sides of the story, as well as the subplots that were tied up in the end of the book.

You absolutely caught me off guard with that twist I did not see that coming at all, perfect read for the fall season it had the perfect setting and vibes, character development was on point, each and every character played there part well love how it all came together and don’t get me started on that epilogue like WHAT!
