Read this as an ARC with my interest being peeked around a mafia why choose and while I did get that I'm almost more interested in just the feminine rage of it (because some of the things Wraith says to these men who don't know who she is yet are DIABOLICAL). The way this reads reminds me a lot of the '97 TV series La Femme Nikita. My pros however are also some of my cons, I like that we are thrown straight into the flow of the story without being spoon fed backstory, but sometimes the context clues for plot points is missing because of this (who certain characters are and who they are to each other). This book is also a little wordy at times to the point where you could skip over a chapter or two and not have missed anything. I do wish some of the dialog was a little more specific because there are sections where I honestly can't figure out who out of the 4-6 people talking are saying what in the conversation. But when I tell you this book had my anxiety UP! This is an action suspense all the way through and I'm here for it. You have your obvious tells to say who you should be looking at but then get taken fully by surprise as other things come out. They do stress as cliffhanger, and it is there, but it's not a "omg what do you mean I have to wait, tell me now" it's more of a "yeah I'll set an alert for when that comes out."
Received an arc from the author and am voluntarily leaving this review.
This book has the intrigue and characters that you just cannot not understand their reasoning and logic and the horrors endured by the heroine and others in the book showcase how evil in the world can be. I especially enjoyed trying to piece the puzzle together as clues were uncovered, yes some I guessed correctly and some connections I missed completely.
Am looking forward to book two for what can only be an epic conclusion.
Review.. Wow, I really enjoyed the story to this book. My heart broke for Sera, but also the boys. This book gets dark so please check your trigger warnings. The only negative I had was the editing of the book as it gets confusing on who says what when they are all in the same paragraph and alot of paragraphs felt repeated. But even so, despite that, they tory was so freaking amazing. I am so looking forward forward to book 2.... Add to your TBR
This book follows Wraith from who she used to be to the incredible person she becomes. It will keep you on the edge of your seat wanting more and will make you have tears in your eyes at the same time!
I was incredibly lucky to receive an advance reader copy of this book and I can say I did not once put it down! Can’t wait for book 2!
She was broken. She was hurt. And for so long, everyone thought she needed someone to save her. But she didn’t need saving—she needed the chance to find her strength and take back what was stolen from her. This book was such a powerful ride of pain, survival, and revenge. Watching her transform from a woman who had been shattered into someone who refused to be a victim anymore was EVERYTHING.
I received this as an ARC from the author. This is an amazing book. I couldn't put it down. The story pulls you in. With its twists and turns I didn't even know which way it was going to go. So powerful.
Wow. That’s all I’ve got. This read was SO GOOD. I couldn’t put it down. Sera’s journey is one that speaks to so many of us- the circumstances may differ but the struggle between love, forgiveness, grief, anger… it’s something anyone can relate to. I will be eagerly awaiting book two!
