I’ve probably read 100 diet books in my lifetime. I’m not telling you that to say I’m some kind of expert, but instead to explain why I wrote this, am sharing it with you, and what my approach is. My frustration in reading all those books is that I wanted to know exactly what the successful dieters ate and exactly how much they exercised to lose weight. I wanted a manual that I could follow or not, agree with or not, but at least know. I didn’t want just “I lost 50 pounds and so can you” stories ... I wanted the specific, truthful, day-to-day how. But not one of those books I read did that. So I have been honest to the last detail here. I am sharing with you everything I ate and every movement I made (or didn’t make). I realize, of course, this opens me to all kinds of criticisms of I didn’t do this or that right or I should’ve eaten this or that, but I don’t care. I wanted to give readers an honest weight-loss diary that tells all. I kept no secrets from you. I let you into my life and my refrigerator, into my den of laziness, into my state of mind, and shared with you my honest struggles and successes. I truly hope you enjoy and perhaps are motivated by something in my story.
