Cara has no one but herself to blame for the situation she finds herself in – she broke the cardinal rule: Don’t read someone’s personal diary. But what if she hadn’t? How long would it have been before she found out that Maddie, her girlfriend of four years, was sleeping with her flatmate?
Now suddenly homeless, Cara flees to her family home in the heart of Cumbria to lick her wounds. There Cara reunites with the past she so desperately tried to outrun and comes face to face with the heart wrenching dilemma that caused her to leave in the first place.
With nowhere to hide Cara finally has to confront her demons head on. Does she tell the truth and risk tearing a brother and sister apart? Or does she carry on with the lie and be without the love she has denied herself for so long?
While Jade Winters has been putting words together since she was a child, it wasn’t until 2010 that she became a serious writer. Today, as a full-time author, she has published four novels in the lesbian fiction genre as well as several short stories. Jade was born and educated in London where she studied journalism for three years at a London University. She is the youngest of 6 children born to a Nigerian father and English mother and blames her love of spicy food on her African heritage. Jade now makes her home in Dorset in the South of England with her partner and furry companions Zorro, Buttons and Zeus.
I’ve started reading this story for free on the author’s website, where Jade Winters regularly posted one chapter after the other, and I was glad once the whole book was available.
For me, „In It Together“ is a book about secrets and lost loves. The two main characters are likeable young women, trying to deal with their past, and with circumstances in the present, that won’t make it easy for them. Especially when other important people shouldn’t get hurt, and other not so important people couldn’t care less.
This is a quick read, perfect for the beach on a sunny day or for the café when it rains.
Well I do like reading Jade's books but this one ended so abruptly. I was looking for more and there was nothing else. I wouldn't mind seeing these characters in a next book.
But well worth the read. Jade Winters is a master storyteller even if it's the same girl meets girl, girl loses girl, girl gets girl back story. Worth the read.
Great story development. Great character development. Decent arch. Beautiful love story. So glad I ran across this book. That's how you write a love story.
Honestly it read like a high school Wattpad story, all the characters acted like kids and it took me a little while to get used to the fact that all the characters were in their 30’s because they did not act like it. Erin’s constant need to put her brother first even after her relationship with Cara was revealed was so annoying. He is a grown man holding onto the dreams of a child and she didn’t see it fit to knock some sense into him. Now let’s talk about Matt not being able to understand that Cara wasn’t into him anymore even after she blatantly told him that she just liked him as a friend. He just hoped that things would work out in his favor and he would get all he wanted even though he had a girlfriend.
I really like the way Jade Winters tells a story and this book is absolutely wonderful. The beginning is a bit slow but then OMG all the wonderful story is coming out and the two characters are blooming. So really liked it
I have mixed feelings about this book. Shortly, I was a little bit disappointed. It definitely wasn't what I expected. Too much drama. Too many lose-lose situations. Sorry, but this time I can't give more than 2 stars.
