Seven trickster gods. One kindergartner. No qualified adults.
For thousands of years, Loki has cultivated his reputation as the god of mischief.
Villain. Trickster. Chaos incarnate.
They're not entirely wrong. But they aren't right either. His chosen brothers know the truth. These days, Loki has carved out a quiet life in the small coastal town of Grayhaven, raising his niece, Zinnia. Turns out, even the god of mischief can't outsmart bedtime tantrums or the strict etiquette of a stuffed animal tea party.
Then Armand walks into Malum Lodge.
Kind. Patient. Wonderful with children. Entirely unimpressed by gods.
As Zinnia's new manny, Armand quietly reshapes the home in a way Loki never realized he wanted. There's only one problem. Armand is a mystery, and Loki has never met an enigma he didn't want to solve. And for some reason, this is one he really wants to kiss.
As Armand becomes part of Loki's unconventional family, the mystery surrounding him deepens with every passing day. Together, they discover that some truths are worth risking everything for.
Filled with humor, heart, mystery, and divine mischief, Gods of Mischief and Loki is a whimsical contemporary fantasy MM romance where ancient gods navigate the modern world, build the family they always wanted, and discover that happily ever after leaves plenty of room for chaos.
Hi! I'm Eliana West, an award-winning romance author who believes everyone deserves a happily ever after.
I write warm, hopeful romances featuring characters from all walks of life because I believe our bookshelves should reflect the beautifully diverse world we live in. Whether it's a cozy small town, a road trip in a vintage Volkswagen Westfalia, a mountain trail, or a little touch of mischief, my stories are always rooted in love, found family, community, and hope.
History often finds its way into my books. I'm fascinated by the people and moments that inspire me, and I love weaving those threads into my books.
When I'm not writing, you'll probably find me exploring the Pacific Northwest with my husband in our 1987 Volkswagen Westfalia, Bianca, searching for hidden bookstores, quirky roadside attractions, and the perfect winery. I'm also the founder of Writers for Diversity, where I teach workshops that encourage authors to create inclusive stories with empathy, curiosity, and confidence.
In 2022, my novel The Way Home received the Nancy Pearl Award for Genre Fiction.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you'll stay awhile, add a few books to your shelf, and find a story that gives you all the feels.
It was very good, I couldn't put the book down. Loki needed help with his niece, even of he didn't want to admit, and lo and behold appears Armand. He suffered a lot in his other lifetimes and he didn't want that to happen in this one. But he had nothing to worry about, in this lifetime he found family and discovered who he really was. I liked them together, they had conflicts like any other couple and honestly? They felt really genuine. And they worked through because they wanted to be together no matter what
How delightful it is to read a 'corny' story every now and then. Even though the characters have a past, this book shows us that by embracing a chosen family and remaining open to a fresh start, it is possible to build a beautiful future.
💞Thank you to the Author and GRR for the opportunity to read and review this ARC💖
This is the first book I’ve read from this author and I enjoyed it. Loki and Armand are perfect for each other. Loki is chaos personified and Armi is calm and steady. Armand has a sad past but gets a new start as a manny to Loki’s niece Zinnia. I loved Loki’s “brothers” in mischief. They are his found family and are always there for him, Zinnia and Armand. The story has romance, humor and mystery. Armand’s true identity is revealed and some of Loki’s familial relationships are mended. The ending is sweet and will leave you with a smile.
The blurb for this looked like fun and it was. Armand had been through several lifetimes of abuse which are alluded to rather than described in detail. Loki too, had trauma from always feeling like a scapegoat. This story though was about how found family can be infinitely better than real family. How you can embrace difference and how opposites can attract. I loved Loki and Armi's relationship. How it matured and grew. I loved Loki's friends and the mash up of several mythical pantheons. And Zinnia the indomitable 5 year old who stole the show. I hope there's more in the series.
I think this book is adorable! Yes, it is a little corny at times, but we (well, I...) all need that sometimes. To just go to our happy place and read a book with swoony romance, mischievous gods who need a little love and a meddling child that's probably more than she appears. Underneath all the swoon, you'll find a story about finding yourself, your place and your people.
And I wholeheartedly agree with this quote from the book: “This is going to be just like a Harlequin novel, but so much better.” It was!
ARC received for free from Gay Romance Reviews in exchange for my honest review.
This author is new to me and i will say I enjoyed this book. Armand is the sweetest MC I’ve come across in a while and I just wanted to wrap him in blankets and keep him safe.
Loki is the guardian of his brother’s daughter and in way over his head. A god of chaos trying to provide a stable environment for a child? Yeah he needs some help. Enter Armand who is sent by Persephone. He’s not a god nor a demigod but figuring out who he is and what his purpose on earth is the point of this story. Armand has had a horrible series of human lifetimes and spent all of them abused and enslaved. Loki just wants to give him everything.
The pacing of this story is good and it never felt too long or too drawn out. I’d have appreciated more spice but what’s there is well written.
The issues they have to face are pretty big. Not just the external issues but the issues between them. Loki is chaos. Armand is stability. Is there a future there? It did bother me that the second time they parted ways after miscommunication felt unnecessary. The first time I understood and was a good plot point.
I thoroughly enjoyed this books! This is a new to me author with it being set around the gods of the universe. Of course I was going to read it!!! I love how the chaos gods of the different pantheons have all gotten together and created their own little found family. This is a whole new side of Loki, who honestly doesn’t get enough credit. Here he is raising his ward Zinnia who is totally adorable, but his actual family still blames him for everything that goes wrong in the world. And how could you not love Armand?!? He is being given a real chance to figure out who he is and find his actual purpose and love in life. I was so hooked into this story from the first page and couldn’t put it down. This was so worth a read and I can’t recommend it enough.
I absolutely loved this book! And let me start by mentioning the wonderful cover. It really drew me in and perfectly matched the image of Loki I had in my head. The story was so well written, and the characters were so engaging that I simply couldn't put it down. I just had to keep turning those pages! I absolutely love a found-family story, and when that family is made up of Gods of Mischief and Mayhem, you can be sure there are plenty of laughs and entertaining moments along the way. There are so many wonderful characters in this story, and I'm already looking forward to getting to know them even better. I can't wait to dive into the next book in this series! I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest and freely given opinion.
***ARC *** Such a good book! Its a romance with alot of Egyptian and Roman, and Greek history tied in. All my favorites! If you love romance and history this is a great bet. Armand is coming into another life, but this time as a nanny. Loki is the god of chaios, but needs help with his niece. It turns into alot more though. Loved the side characters alot. Cant wait for more!
