Magnus is haunted. He is trying to make a life for himself in Edinburgh, but memories of Claire, his sister, who died mysteriously when working in Africa, follow him everywhere.

Or are they memories? Why is Magnus adopting Claire's interest in fashion, her romantic grudges, her links to a secretive boarding school? Is Claire herself beginning to take over his life, and his mind?

As Magnus's attempts to free himself from his sister's influence grow more desperate, the boundaries between himself and his sister begin to blur. But is he imagining things, or is it really Claire? And how will he escape her?

I am utterly certain that if I were to read this book again, it wouldn't get more than 2 or 3 stars from me. But the four star rating I gave after reading it is based rather on a spiritual bond. This is as far as I can remember my first book in english ever read and hence I have all the reason to keep it up there alongside the lofty, prodigious works of art, as their impact on me is surely worthy of some comparison.

Well this was an interesting story, it has some magic realism aspects which I surprisingly liked!
It was a nice story but not really one I think will stay with me for a long time

If i was to honestly write how i felt about this book, i would say that i am dissapointed. I picked it up thinking that it would be an exciting book that delves right into a supernatural theme. However instead it was a very confusing book that had next to no twists. And when the twist was revealed at the end, it was so incredibly dejavu that the plot of the book is almost completely lost in its bad ending. When you could see openings for really good twists during the book, it would take a completely different turn and just stick to plain old predicatability. Reminded me a bit of scooby doo at times, you know the whole, "The ghost was me all along, i was just dressed as a ghost", except that in this book you kind of hope its not the case until you get to the end of realise it it. And sooo many questions are left unanswered, but not in a suspenful 'i want to read more' kind of way, but in a 'um...ok what just happend' kind of way. Characters come in and out of existence in this book, maybe just out of laziness i do not know, but it leaves you thinking...wow he has some weird as relationships with people.

But i suppose on a good note, it did get straight into the action as apposed to some novels where u get to chapter 3 and they've only just introduced the first character. And although the twists were bad, the suspense leading up to the bad finish was really well done. I congradulate the author on use of language, very easy to read and not get completely lost because of over use of formal english.

So in all, i do not regret reading it...although i was a little dissapointed and would like the ask some questions about the ending. Id still read more by the author who wrote the novel.
