Sex with the ex… It shouldn’t be this good the second time around.

Navy SEAL Dane “Viking” Erikson has sworn off women—or at least he’s sworn off one woman: DEA Agent Ivy McGill. His ex-wife.

But when they’re forced to work together on a critical military mission, Dane can’t help but notice how the one woman he shouldn’t want is the only one he can’t stop thinking about.

Ivy knows what it’s like to fall for a SEAL’s hard muscles and killer smile—and she knows what it’s like when everything falls apart. So why is she naked against a wall and begging Dane for more?

Because one thing he knew after a night with her was that he hadn't stopped being addicted. Not at all.

This series is my crack. No joke. Lynn Raye Harris has become synonymous for me with sizzling hot romance and heart pounding and action filled suspense. Her books are a guaranteed winner for me every single time and just get better as the series progressed. When I learned that she'll be adding a SEAL division to her addicting HOT series, to say I was excited was a mild understatement. Not that I didn't already love her military men, but SEALs! C'mon! Who doesn't love a good SEAL? Add into that a second chance romance and what you got yourself is a book you won't be able to put down from beginning to finish. Guaranteed.

This book is a novella to introduce the new SEAL division of HOT, and while you may enjoy it as a standalone, I think you'd enjoy it even more reading the series in order. Each book has it's own story arc that gets concluded with a HEA, the characters from each book, however, do continue in the series.
Dane was a complication, but she could handle him. Even if seeing him again made her heart ache and her body light up in ways she really didn't appreciate.
Damn his handsome face and spectacular body anyway.

DEA Agent Ivy McGill is one tough chick. She can take down bad guys without even batting an eyelash, but the memory of her ex-husband still has the ability to bring her to her knees. She was devastatingly in love with him 5 years ago but for reasons unknown to the reader yet, their marriage fell apart. But while she hasn't seen him since, she still thinks of him to this day. So when a mission to track down a missing missile brings them together all these years past, suffice it to say that sparks will fly.
When he and Ivy touched, the world faded. It had always been that way.

What I love most about this series is that every heroine is tough as nails. Even if they're not an operative themselves, they still hold their own. You won't find any damsels in distress here. Ivy was certainly no exception. This was a heroine I liked from page one.

As for Navy SEAL Dane “Viking” Erikson? Well if the man doesn't melt the panties off of you, I just don't know if we're reading the same book. The man was hotness personified. You can feel his internal struggle of knowing it's over and yet being unable to fight his never fading feelings for a woman he loved with his entire being.
He was buried inside hi ex-wife, her taste still on his tongue, her legs wrapped around him, and he couldn't think of another damned thing except what it felt like to move his hips and pull out of her before slamming back inside her again.

He was protective with a dash of possessive and downright delectable.

In the midst of the scorching romance and two people finding love again in the unlikeliest of places, there's lots of actions as is the norm with this series. If you haven't read these books yet, I'd liken them to Cindy Gerard's Black Ops or Maya Bank's KGI series. They're entertaining as hell, action packed, and super SUPER steamy. If you haven't discovered this fantastic series and author yet, I'm not sure what you're doing with your life. If you enjoy sizzling romantic suspense, this series is simply a must read. A MUST READ. And now with a team of SEALs joining the HOT team, I already know that it will only continue to get better and better and I for one, cannot freaking wait!

**3.5** This was a decent second chance, military romance.

I didn’t really understand the necessity of their breakup and divorce in the first place. Maybe they were both too young to understand compromise?

Dane is a delicious as a Navy SEAL and Ivy is a kick-ass DEA agent who doesn’t need a man to save her. I felt a little lost with all the side characters as I haven’t read a book from this author before.

While the steam was HOT, it was insta-lovey. It made me wonder how they could have stayed apart for four years when they proclaimed how much they loved one another the entire time. (They both had sex with others during this separation)

DNF at 16%.

I don't want to read a second chance romance where the dude has been sleeping around during the separation.

"If he didn't like sex so much, he'd probably sworn off of women altogether after Ivy".

Gross. 🤮 I am not in the mood for that.

4 'Love and choices' Stars!

I've always wanted to check out Lynn Raye Harris' works because I've been said her stories are hella steamy. I was in the mood for a sexy man in uniform and I definitely got what I wanted with Hot SEAL! This is actually my first book by this author and now I surely want to read more because I really enjoyed this novella and these crew of characters. Ivy and Dane's chemistry was off-the-charts and I loved reading how they get their second chance after their first failed attempt at marriage. If you like romantic suspense, I think you'll probably enjoy this!

This novella is part of the SEALs of Summer 2 collection. I love the second chance romance trope; it's one of my favorites. In this case Dane and Ivy got married before college graduation in a tipsy fever in Las Vegas. Sex was fantastic, but I don't think these two knew each other very well. Discord and divorce soon after. Dane became a SEAL and Ivy became a DEA agent. They meet up four years later on a joint task force to find a submarine that has been stolen by terrorists from a cartel Ivy was investigating and fitted with a nuke heading for the east coast. As Ivy and Dane go undercover, a lot of their unresolved issues come to the surface and so does the sizzling attraction that never died.

Just so so

I hate second chance divorced people who say they loved them the whole time they were apart but they both slept with other people. I know is not cheating but it doesn't make me believe them. I love Seal stories and I have liked many of this authors books but this one was just raunchy sex with a little bit of mystery and suspense thrown in. I just didn't like the hero for some reason. They work together and fall back into bed and if course they still love each other. Yawn I just didn't feel it. The mystery is okay but I am glad I didn't pay for the book. I will try some more in the series. Me not liking this book is more about my preferences so don't take my word for it. But if you want a hero and heroine that didn't move on, don't read this book. They both did.

Hot Seal ( A Hostile Operations Team Novella- Book 9) by Lynn Raye Harris is a 2015 publication. I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

As if the 104 degree temperatures here in Texas weren't hot enough...

This ninth book in the HOT series is one of the steamiest to date, and that's saying something. I always love the romantic suspense elements in these stories with hot alpha SEALS and dangerous missions, but I am also a sucker for second change romance.

Kind of like that old Johnny Cash song- Dane and Ivy got married in a fever hotter than a pepper sprout. But, when they woke up from the haze and reality set in, Ivy's old insecurities rose to the surface when Dane announced he wanted to be a Navy SEAL. Her career in the DEA was important to her for personal reasons, and she didn't want to give that up to be a lonely Navy Wife, always wondering if Dane would return to her or not. Unable to make a compromise, the two divorced. Now four years later, a dangerous drug smuggling operation requires the help of the SEALS. Ivy is lucky she is still involved in the case at all, but is soon mortified to discover her ex-husband is a member of the military team called in to take over the operation.

I had a feeling I was going to like Dane, after all how could I dislike someone with the nickname of “Viking”. Sure enough this guy oozed alpha hotness, but is also sensitive, sweet, and funny.

Ivy, was shaped by her unfortunate childhood which led to being an adult with some issues to work through. I did like Ivy and was moved by her story, but she did frustrate me at times because Dane needed emotional support too and she seemed a little top self involved.

The chemistry between Dane and Ivy sizzles immediately with just one smoldering look, but the old issues between them still fester. Can they manage to work out a compromise so that one doesn't have to give up their career for the other?

For a novella length story, this one has a lot of action and suspense, too, with a riveting showdown between the SEALS and some really nasty drug lords. I have to mention the secondary characters too because their humor added a nice compliment to a pretty intense story.

Overall, this installment has my engines revving for the next book in the series, which thankfully will release very soon, so I won't have to wait too long between books. 4.5 stars

So, let me get this straight: the hero and the heroine meet in college and they instantly fall in love with each other. Then they get married, stay together for six months and then they don't see or speak to each other for almost five years..they stay apart more than they were together but when they meet again they fight a lot, have sex two times and BAM: they are madly in love with each other again and they live happily ever after.. Just like that..
The first time, they broke up because of their jobs (she is a DEA agent and he is a SEAL), but this time no problem at all..Sure, their jobs are demanding and probably they won't see each other for months but "they'll make it work"..Yeah..I don't buy it..
We didn't even have an epilogue that shows us how they're making it work..
Sorry but I like to read romance and this isn't a love story, is lust at best.
The story and the characters don't have any depth. Not for me I'm afraid..

Details from the invitation email...Hot SEAL introduces a new element to the Hostile Operations Team, a SEAL team! While Hot SEAL introduces a host of new characters, it also features the core HOT characters readers have come to know and love. You also may notice Hot SEAL is listed as book 9 in the HOT series. This isn’t a typo, and you haven’t missed a book. Book 8, Hot & Bothered, is currently going through copyedits. Because Hot SEAL is releasing first as part of a box set (SEALs of Summer 2), its release date has bumped up ahead of Hot & Bothered. Hot SEAL will not spoil the events of Hot & Bothered, and Hot & Bothered does not tie directly to the plot of Hot SEAL—it stands alone more than the other novels in the series.

Oh, yeah it was HOT. Action packed with sexy SEAL Dane aka Viking. He and Ivy had been married 5 years ago and separated due to the inability to compromise on their jobs. Now they meet up again on a HOT mission. Dane as the newest HOT team member (yes the rest of his SEAL team will be joining the HOT family too). Ivy is DEA and the cases they are working collide, and then so do Dane and Ivy. Loved it especially seeing all the old and new HOT team members. Excited for Hot & Bothered's release. I still think Mendez needs a HEA.

This will be released later on in the year but as a bonus is also being released in the superbook bundle SEALs of Summer 2: A Military Romance Superbundle which is due for release on 7th July.

Well named as very HOT! The action between the sheets starts immediately with a prologue and continues to deliver throughout, but don’t be fooled this is not a trashy sex story but is one packed with action and suspense that I have come to expect from the HOT team. Through the series Ms Harris has told the story of most of the team members but now has added a SEAL team led by Lieutenant Dane ‘Viking’ Erikson.

Dane and Ivy (DEA Special Agent) had been divorced and not seen each other for four years until they are bought together to bring down the bad guys that were connected to drugs and the makers of a dirty bomb. The connection, tension and sizzle jumps out from the pages right from the start and although we know they will inevitably settle their differences and get back together it was great to follow the journey with them.

I love LRH’s H.O.T. series and eagerly await each new release and as you can tell I definitely wasn’t disappointed with this one ☺

Hot Seal was the first book in the Hot Seal team series by Lynne Ray Harris. It was my first military book by the author. Although it was a spin off from her Hostile Operations series, the series can be read as a stand-alone.

Dane “Viking” Erikson was a Navy Seal assigned to work with a Special Ops group, the Hostile Operations Team aka HOT. Ivy McGill was a DEA agent. She had been following the Ruiz cartel and making waves for years. She was close to bringing the family down when she was assigned to assist the HOT team to complete the mission.

Dane and Ivy had history. Like formerly married that ended badly history and now they were tasked with working together after total silence for four plus years. Harris quickly caught us up and then took us through the suspenseful plot while navigating through old relationship mines.

I enjoyed the action packed and suspenseful plot. Harris told the story primarily through Dane and Ivy’s POV, but we were also graced with the antagonist’s views from time to time. It provided additional depth and dimension. I also enjoyed Dane and Ivy - more Dane than Ivy, because her baggage was a little more than his, but I enjoyed them both none the less.

In the end, it was a quick and fun read. It was well written and well developed. And Harris set the stage well for the series. Remy Marchand is up next in Hot Seal Lover.

Big fat meh. I noticed it is really hard for me to enjoy a book that is written in third person. And that's sad.

There are books that I really want to read that written with that POV and that discourages me to read them. It is really hard for me to get into it. My brain just doesn't have it.

This was a quick listen (audiobook). But I’m so confused because I just didn’t understand the actual conflict of why they were divorced in the first place. It seemed petty and hinted to something bigger yet was not. Big letdown.
But the sucker I am, I push on to the 2nd book because well, I gotta know about the others 😂

I like action plots. That means something is going on besides the hot sex with well-built guys. The HOT series consistently delivers on all three fronts: non-stop action, sex scenes that can steam the wallpaper, and hunky guys with skills both in and out of the bedroom [and any other location that appeals.] The current entry, HOT Seal, does not disappoint – it is definitely romantic suspense at its best.

Once upon a time SEAL Dane, the hero, and DEA Agent Ivy, the heroine, were married. It didn’t work out. Two tough people working even tougher jobs – and neither was willing to compromise. And now they’re brought back together by those very same jobs. But they can handle it. It’s a mission, just business. Yeah, like that’s going to work…

The point of view alternates between Dane and Ivy and their likenesses and differences become very obvious. Both of them are hard, strong-minded people committed to doing what they see as right. They are both protectors to the core. Neither of them is much of a communicator but Ivy is especially locked up. However their chemistry, both old and new, brings them steadily closer together.

FYI: This is a novella rather than a novel. This could be read as a standalone but honestly? I always recommend reading the series. Each story is complete but there is a continuing series arc. Each story incorporates characters you know and love from previous books – just like this one does. NOTE: for those following the series YES this is number nine and it is being released before number eight, Hot and Bothered. That is because it is appearing in the anthology SEALs of Summer 2: A Military Romance Superbundle. But don’t worry, it contains no spoilers for number eight. (There are plans to release it as a standalone later this year.)

I love me a good SEAL and by gosh Dane "Viking" Erikson is a mighty fine introduction of what looks to be a most promisingly delightful introduction of Seals into the HOT team!

The last place DEA Agent expects to run into her ex husband is at HOT headquarters, after all Dane is Navy, not Army, but there he is as freakin' gorgeous as she remembers, and while it's been a long four and a half years without him, it's like yesterday when the memories start flooding back. SEAL Dane is just as shocked when his ex wife walks into mission control. He knows the dangerous mission they're about to embark could risk lives and while he tries to hate Ivy on sight, he also tries to kid himself he'd step in front of a bullet for her as he would be for anyone under his command, not because she's someone special.

Racing against the clock Dane, along with the HOT team, Ivy and her DEA partner track down a state of the art submarine originally designed for drug trafficking missing from Columbia; the Ruiz brothers who have a major hand in the drug trafficking that Ivy is hell bent on stopping and a nuclear warhead which can blow the Eastern seaboard to smithereens. While surrounded by danger at every corner, partnered together puts Dane and Ivy in mighty fine close proximity where they cant ignore their past, their feelings or their differences and when one part of the mission means portraying themselves as a happy couple, Dane and Ivy are like the fireworks factory they liken themselves to and things really turn into the 4th of July! I loved the end scene, I could totally imagine it and was left feeling I would absolutely love to be swept off my feet by a man in uniform - preferably a SEAL ;)

Hot Seal is a Hostile Operations Team Novella, part of a July release box set Seals of Summer anthology . So much is packed in it does not feel the length of a Novella. So much action and drama swirling around mixed with high tensions and breath taking moments of intimacy I was completely hooked until the last page. Lynn Raye Harris has such an amazing skill for writing heart-beating drama, non stop action and rock solid mind blowing romance all swirled together and packed into one delicious story that has the Hostile Operation Team on my must-read list.

Thank you for the ARC received for my honest opinon.

OK.
This may/not be a spinoff; it looks like there’s another series with the HOT (Hostile Operations Team) but I didn’t feel lost at all. Although I “think” the married team members were from previous books, because it felt like they “should be” familiar. Hot Seal is Navy SEAL Dane "Viking" Erikson and DEA agent Ivy McGill’s second chance romance. It’s the first in the series, so there’s a hunk of the book dedicated to explaining the HOT division, and introducing the team members that will become the H’s of the upcoming books. My point is that maybe I would have enjoyed this book more had I already been invested into these guys.

The book blurb lays out the story; this duo split 4.5 years earlier after 6 months of marriage. The reason for the breakup was pretty small, and IMO pretty immature of Ivy. I get she had some baggage from her dad, but it was pretty hypocritical of her to expect him to accept her dreams, but not willing to support his. I found her and her “daddy issues” annoying.

Bottom Line- My biggest complaint was just the overall pacing of the story. It took 20% for them to reunite, then they pretty much argued until 50% when they finally had sex… but there’s still bickering, and it’s still fairly slow moving until 70%.

Advanced Readers Copy Courtesy of Author....:)

I have said it many times, well 8 to be exact now, that this is one of my favorite romantic suspense series.....Lynn Raye Harris knows how to deliver and she does it each and every single time...

Now you are not mistaken, that this book has released before book 8, but because its part of a anthology series, it is now being released earlier.

This book is about Dane "Viking" (and lets say I pictured a certain hunky Thor actor the entire time)....He is a Navy Seal that has been tasked to work with the HOT guys to bring down a drug dealer who intends to launch a missile via a sub in the Florida Keys area. What the delicious Dane does not know is that his ex wife Ivy who works with the DEA is also been tasked to work this case. He has not seen his ex wife for over 4 years, yet the minute they are in the same room together again the sparks start to fly.

Now while I loved Dane, I have to be honest and say I battled to connect and like Ivy.....She was very closed off and cold and her reasons for leaving Dane all those years ago, where shitty ones as far as I was concerned.....Love is not about ultimatums and I did not blame Dane one iota for leaving her ass.

However she does redeem herself in the end and you have to give her credit for admitting her mistakes....

This is a great action packed little novella that will help tide you over till the next HOT book and I love how she has now brought a new element into it by brings some new SEALS to the team.....things can only get HOTTER now....:)

Great Read as always and highly recommended!!!!

Lynn Raye Harris does it again with her hot, sexy, alpha men who love their jobs and women, and no way will they ever be tied down. Expect the unexpected and the unpredictable. It has everything you'd want in a good story: tension, passion, deception, suspense, and mystery. There's frustration, fear, desperation, lies, mayhem, heartache, revenge, war, chaos, death, hell, and fate that is inescapable.
It is an awesome tale that I couldn't put down. I was so enthralled with this world that Lynn has created. The complex characters are wonderfully written and become a part of you. This is one author whose other work I will be reading for sure.

And thus the adventure into the HOT seals team begins. So going into this book I already knew what to expect just because this couple is mentioned in some of the later alpha and echo squad books. Not sure when you’re supposed to read it but I think before Ryan’s book since Ryan isn’t with Emily during this.

It was so weird kind of back peddling and seeing some of the happily married hot members not be in love (I.e Ryan and everybody after him).

Dane and Ivy were fun to read and I really enjoyed their book. Dane is very protective of Ivy so when he thinks her partner is shacking up with her, he isn’t happy. Thankfully she very quickly tells him that her partner is gay and would rather shack up with him, and of course he’s happy again.

Ivy is a badA female who works for the DEA taking down cartels and drug lords. And this girl isn’t about to let anyone walk over her and command her to do anything. No sir. She’s gonna stick up for herself and give her opinion, especially if it’s Dane she’s telling to F off.

Now their history is a little complicated as they used to be married and happily in love, until Ivy made Dane choose between her and the seals, and he chose the seals.

Since this is Dane’s first adventure with HOT, we get to see some of the alpha squad og’s again and do a little catch-up with them.

So excited for Cage and Christina’s (who is Matt’s sister!), story!

Awesome story! I love 2nd chance stories and as an introduction to Lynn Raye Harris's HOT series, this definitely made me want to go back and experience the rest.

Loved how Dane pursued Ivy and fought to win her back. I liked how Ivy was strong and able to take care of herself, just wish she didn't fight with Dane so much about his need to protect her (but I'm kinda partial to distressed damsels who have an inner strength that shines through). The sparks answer heat between these two, wow! Needed a fan! I also enjoyed watching the bad guys get caught, that part of the story was not lacking.

So glad that my book club picked this to read and I finally got it off my tbr list and got to fall in love and see what I was missing out on. Definitely a LRH fan now!

Excuse me while I wring out my undies! Haha!
These Navy men sounds delicious.

At times I found Ivy a frustrating character but I think you need that raw emotion and attitude to offset Dane and his anger. I found myself smiling as I read this book and I find that's a sign that I'm enjoying it.

I look forward to reading the next one in the series.
