Fitting in has never been something fifteen-year-old Hadley Asher ever aspired to. Three schools in one year brings unwanted and unwelcome attention to a girl like Hadley who only wants to blend in. After her family moves from Buffalo, NY to the small, upper-class town of Blue Valley in Central New York, Hadley's next door neighbor Lana quickly befriends her, the two becoming nearly inseparable. However, Paxton Jamison, Lana's stepbrother and the boy with the brilliant blue eyes, has to step in to help Hadley deal with Lana, who is hard to handle on a good day. When an unprecedented scandal and tragedy strike the small community, Hadley becomes its focus, its target. As a result, the girl who hides in books and wants to blend in with the background finds breathing is nearly impossible.
This young adult book is so much deeper than I had anticipated. I thought it would be the typical geeky girl meets hot jock guy and he falls for her. Nope, this one has a lot more angst and real deep pain to it.
Hadley is starting over again at a third school and not by choice. Her father has addiction issues and her mom is the sole bread winner. Economics are forcing the family to move once again. Hadley likes to blend into the wood work so as not to draw attention to herself. She becomes best friends with the girl who lives next door-Lana. Her family has money. Hadley's family came by this house as an inheritance from an aunt. These two girls are like night and day and something seems a little off about Lana.
Lana has a stepbrother named Paxton-he's the gorgeous jock that is actually a really nice guy. He likes Hadley and thinks she's a good influence on his younger step sister. But he is more than a little interested in her himself.
Prom night changes everything in Hadley's life. She didn't go to the prom, Pax went with another girl and Lana went with a guy she has a huge crush on. But it's at the after party that things unravel, lives are forever changed and Hadley wishes she could turn back the clock.
Here is where my heart begins to break. There is one event that leads to something happening that has a domino effect that just goes viral. Literally and Hadley takes the blame for something she didn't do. Lana's parents use their influence to ruin this poor girl and her life becomes a nightmare.
Most of the book from that point on is about Hadley coping with her new world and literally learning to survive. Pax infrequently makes appearances and tries to keep Hadley's spirits up, but she is no longer the same person. There is only so much a person can take until they have to reinvent themselves or just give up.
The story ends on a cliff hanger and I really need to know how big a part Pax will play in Hadley's future.
I got a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review
Wow… wow….wow…. is all I can say….. DID I SEE THAT COMING….. NO! God do I love this book! I haven’t read something this good in a while. At first this book had the typical young adult plot…boy meets girl, girl likes boy….. and you know the rest… but it SO WAS NOT LIKE THAT!....
Hadley is the main character and she is about to start her 3rd or 4th school of the year (who is really counting?) Her father has major addiction issues from an accident and her mother is the only one making money right now….
Hadley makes friends with the girl next store who has lots of money and a step-brother who is cute named Pax. Pax is the typical cute jock in school and is very happy that Hadley and lana are friends. He also seems to like Hadley a little more than a friend.
Prom night changes everything in Hadley's life. She didn't go to the prom, Pax went with another girl and Lana went with a guy she has a huge crush on. Hadley was invited to the after party but that’s were things unravel, lives are forever changed and Hadley wishes she could turn back the clock.
This is seriously were this book gets so good that you cant put the darn thing down and you will stay up all night just to finish it. There is one event that leads to something happening that has a domino effect that just goes viral. Literally and Hadley takes the blame for something she didn't do. Lana's parents use their influence to ruin this poor girl and her life becomes a nightmare. That all I can really say without spoiling the whole book and who wants that?!
The story ends on a cliff hanger and I really need to know how big a part Pax will play in Hadley's future
**I was sent this ebook from the publisher through NetGalley in return of an honest review.**
Pushing Send gives us the story of Handley, a teenage girl who is now starting her third school in a year. Her and her family have had to move around frequently due to family troubles. Hadley receives her first iPhone for her 15th birthday and, unfortunately, this is were all of her troubles begin. This story is a great one for parents of teenagers and for their teens because it really puts in perspective how SO many bad things can come from the smallest of actions! It really brings awareness to social media, bullying, and consequences.
While reading this book I noticed that some parts (mainly the beginning) were written for an age group much younger than me. I pushed through it and then, out of nowhere, the book made a change in course that I didn't see coming! This is where real depth was added and I didn't want to stop reading until I found out how Hadley's situation would turn out. It wasn't until after I finished reading Pushing Send that I discovered it was actually written by a middle schooler, Ally Derby, and her mom, Jacqueline Ross. That helped me understand why the audience being written for would vary drastically at times.
My favorite character was Pammy, Hadley's mom! Her love and determination to get the family to a good point was admirable. She went from being a bit soft spoken to full mama bear and that's where she reminded me of my own mother!
The authors did a great job at keeping this book very fast paced without making it feel rushed! This story takes place over a period of 2 years and the authors chose to skip a few weeks/months at times as opposed to including random storylines that would have dragged out the main story. The ending felt kind of confusing with random new characters being introduced. I wouldn't consider the last chapter a cliffhanger as other reviewers have, but it did feel too abrupt with no real conclusion.
The only warning I would give to others going into this book: There is tons of fangirling happening in this book which you'll appreciate if you've read those series. However, if you haven't read series like The Hunger Games, The Fault in our Stars, & Percy Jackson (to name a few) then be prepared for MAJOR spoilers on deaths!
I don't know where to start with this review. This book touches on a very sensitive issue of bullying as well as being falsely accused. the authors have written a heart wrenching story that makes you feel as though you are living through this with the characters. The emotions I felt reading this book is something that I have never experienced in a YA book before. You will fall in love with Hadley and hurt with her through the book. Make sure to read this with a box of tissues nearby. Thank you to the authors for the ARC. I can honestly say I will recommend this book to everyone.
Wow. I can't even explain how this book made me feel. But I will try to without any spoilers. I should say this book is about a 15 year old high school student name Hadley. She and her family moves to a new town and she's starting her third new school. Her father was in an accident and had never been the same since. He's been hooked on pain medicine and alcohol and her mom is supporting them all with two jobs. I should say her mom is the sweetest person and is so much stronger then Hadley gives her credit for in the beginning. Any who, Hadley is starting her third new school and want to blend in. That doesn't work out so well once the girl next door and her brother befriends her. Their names being Lana and Pax. She makes a number of new friends at the school and one really bad apple that is her down fall. Her name being Claire. She is bad news. Very bad news. But she (Claire) doesn't really show her true colors to a little bit into the story. When Hadley agrees to go to the prom after party, everything and I mean everything goes downhill. This is the part on the story where I felt so many emotions. I felt shock, rage, disbelief, horror, extreme sadness, hopelessness and then sorta depressed. Some of the things that happened to Hadley in the book was just unreal to me and I just couldn't understand why that was happening. So many times I wanted to huge Pax, the mom, the dad but mostly Hadley. She just could not catch a break. Once you read this story you'll understand why. Oh yeah, I even cried at one point in this story. Like real tears. Ugh. So heartbreaking. One last thing, this book does not end on a cliffhanger but I feel like it not yet finished. Like maybe there will be more? Hopefully so. I need Hadley to be happy. I need Pax to find closure and her dad to stay strong. Ok. I think I've said enough. Hopefully you'll give this book at try. I really enjoyed this book even though I thought it would be way different then it was. Happy reading!!
It’s scary to think that things like Hadley’s story are some of things young kids go through!! So many teenagers feel like they have no one who understands thanks so much for bringing awareness to suicide! I was hoping Pax and Hadley would end up together but this story was more about suicide and what can happen with social media and pushing send is so final nothing can be done once you put something out there on the internet!!! Thank you ❤️
Title: Pushing Send Author: Ally Derby & Jacqueline Ross Genre: Young Adult Series or Standalone: Standalone (at time of review) Rating: 5 Heart Wrenching Stars
Review
When I first signed on to do this book, I went into it believing it was going to be a YA romance. The cover especially seemed to lend to it leaning that way, but as I started reading I quickly realized that it was so much more than a romance.
It falls in the Young Adult realm, of that there can be no dispute, but the story that unfolds on the pages carried with it a lot of real life adult and teen issues. Ones that you never want a child to deal with, but that so many kids the same age as Hadley was in this story actually face on a daily basis.
I’m familiar with bullying in fiction. I’ve written a series where that was an underlying issue, so seeing it appear in this story didn’t make me shy away from it where I know for some others it does. If anything, I was actually quite impressed with the bullying portrayed here. It came at it from a different angle than me and some other authors have used in the past. It wasn’t just a few kids picking on someone that didn’t deserve it. It was an entire town, adults included.
What Hadley lives through in this story, I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy, but with the prevalence of social media and the way teenagers use it and treat it almost as though they need it to breathe, especially in terms of picture and video taking, it’s something that can happen to anyone. Popular, nerd, freak, it doesn’t matter what your supposed label is or who you are in the grand scheme of things in school, this can happen to you and I think that’s what kept me so firmly planted in the story.
The realism.
This very well could have been my high schooler and that thought alone twisted me up in knots. It’s truly a cautionary tale that in the end I think needs to be read by parents and teens alike, fictional or not. It will open your eyes to the world we’re now living in.
I cried quite a bit while reading this. There is so much loss and agonizing pain, along with severe injustice that it was hard not to react. It’s not an easy book to read, honestly. There are moments that were humorous toward the beginning and even a little toward the end, but the majority of it had me hurting. So many ways the people of that town, the school, the kids, and even the system let this girl down and every one of them broke my heart just a little more.
Pax by far being the worst.
Now speaking of Pax, this is where I kept expecting romance to play a part here because him and Hadley do bond quite early on, but it was not to be, at least not in the way that romance readers (young and old) usually want. But the feelings both before and later were real and you can clearly see they exist. I just wish he’d realized things a little sooner because I think Hadley’s loss of him when everything hit the fan was probably the worst for me personally. I genuinely liked the character.
When I finished this book and got to the back where you learn about the authors, I was kind of blown away to find out that one of the authors is in fact a middle schooler. There is no indication, apart from maybe the fangirling (which really, I still do at 35), that hinted at this being written by a young person. The prose was age specific (young when needed, adult when called for), the situations and people within it written the way I would assume them to be and very well at that.
Quite frankly it was written by someone wise beyond their years.
I loved this story. Every agonizing and heartbreaking moment of it. The only thing of note that I think needs to be said is that the ending felt a bit open ended, so it could either mean, another book for Hadley, or a series in general with other characters from the first story. It wasn’t a cliff-hanger, I did indeed feel fulfilled by the end, but it’s just something to look out for if you end up getting into it. Because I know that for me, I’d love to read more with all of them.
In a romance HEA sense, this wasn’t. In an overall life HEA, I think it was nailed rather nicely. I can trust that in closing the book, Hadley’s life moving forward will indeed be one of happiness and in the end, that’s the payoff I was looking for.
My thanks to both authors and all others involved in letting me receive a copy of this before release. It’s a story that even days after finishing, still resonates. It’s one I think because of just how real it was and how invested I became, always will.
Pushing Send Pushing Send is a yung adult novel with some very deep and intense situations, especially appropriate in this day and age.
Hadley's life has be turned upside down yet again as she and her family have moved again to a small town in New York. Her father lost his job after an accident and now her father has addiction issues. This leaves her nother as the sole breadwinner, overworked and continually making excuses for Hadley's father. All of this has meant that Hadley has not only had to grow up fast, but it has really damaged her ability to trust others. As a result, she just tries to fly under the radar and keep to herself. But being the new girl in a small school, it is hard to remain anonymous for too long. Soon after she moves, she meets Lana, her neighbor and soon her best friend. She also meets her older stepbrother Paxton, with whom she becomes friends as well.
It was at this point that I thought this was going to be the typical love story between a somewhat geeky, socially awkward girl and the gorgeous jock, but there is so much to the story. Pax likes Hadley and thinks she's a good influence on his sometimes tumultuous little sister. Their friendships are unexpected, as Hadley could not be more different. Lana and Paxton are well off and have had a lot of advantages in life, whereas Hadley and her family are struggling, financially and emotionally.
Things go better than Hadley expected for awhile, until something happens that ruins everything. It is at this point that everything goes into a horrific doward spiral for her and it becomes almost overwhelming. Just about everything that could go wrong does.
There are some important plot lines in this book, particularly appropriate for our time. It highlights the downside of such a digital age and how it can ruin lives. It shows how quick people are to assume the worst, to judge. There is also an important theme of mental illness and how much that can go unnoticed in teenagers. There are also themes of love and forgiveness, compassion and understanding. These plot lines and themes are well considered and important to the time.
However, there were times when it almost felt like various parts of the book were written for different demographics. It was something that was very noticeable to me, even as I enjoyed the overall story. It was only when I was preparing to write this review that I realized that this was written my a middle-school girl and her mother, which explains those variations. It also explained the massive fangirling going on throughout the book, although that was appropriate to the age of the main character. But if you haven't read the series fangirled (The Hunger Games, Percy Jackson, The Fault in Our Stars, etc.),, you will find spoilers to those novels.
The only other thing that gave me pause was the time jumping. The book takes place over roughly 2 years and there were several moments when the time jumped forward. While I think the jumping was necessary for the story, I wish there was some kind of indication from the beginning like an italicized six months later or some such thing so as to eliminate confusion.
My Recommendation
All in all this was a good story that touched on some important issues, even with the couple of things that jumped out at me. I am hoping that there will be a sequel because I want to know more!
I received an ARC through NetGalley for an honest review
First thing I want to say is WOW. I so totally didn't expect for the book to turn out like it did. I have been the new girl a few times. I was always scared to make new friends, wonder if people will like me. Like Hadley, I grew up in Central NY. That was weird too.
To me pushing send is about the ramifications of social media, bullying, and trying to fit in. Also sweeping serious problems under the rug.
Hadley moved to Blue Valley with her mom and dad. This was her third time moving, her third time being the new girl. This town is much smaller compared to the others she moved to. So small everyone knows everyone.
I want to say at first the story was going a little slow for me. Then after about 5 chapters it picked up. I thought the book was going to be about the new girl who gets the hot jock. But I was so wrong on so many levels.
Hadley meets Lana. Lana is her next door neighbor who has a brother named Pax. Pax is the jock. He also gives the girls a ride to school when the weather isn't nice. As you read about Lana you thought it was typical teenage attitude. You know how teenage girls can act? One minute they are all hyper then the next they want to sit in their room by themselves groveling. I know I did that.
Hadley and Lana would have their bouts of no talking. Then boom they would be best of friends again. Prom was coming up and Lana had a date. You thought she was getting married. I mean yeah prom is a big deal but she took it to the extreme.
Here is where things get so tricky. Hadley trying to fit in and all. She wanted to be friends with her nerdy friends, and the girls who played field hockey. Well she found out quick enough who her friends really were. Prom night came. Hadley helped out a few girls with their dress up. She attended the after party. Claire who was dating Pax wanted to make a video to those who didn't attend her after party. Now we all know what happens at parties when adults are not around. You have young teens who think they are grown. Lana found herself in a situation and Pax didn't like it one bit. As Claire and Hadley were recording they got Lana on record. What she was doing I will not say. There was a commotion, Hadley, Pax and Claire all seem to go the same direction. Things fall, people bang into each other. One thing leads to another and some how Pushing Send happened.
What happens the days after the after party tears your heart in two. What Hadley put through with this small town is horrible. How she is treated, how no one will be on her side besides her mom and dad. As I am reading this ordeal, my heartbeat is going faster, my temper is about to fly off the hook. I think about what my friend went through when she went through the same thing. However she put herself there. Hadley she didn't.
Pushing send shows you how posting to social media and tear a person's life apart. Even if you think what you are posting is true. Once you post it, it is always there. Hadley's mom told her that. Think before you post. It will change your life forever!!

After reading Pushing Send by Jacqueline Ross & Ally Derby well let's say I'm need of some major music therapy and a deep deep breath! This is a story that'll hit you right in the gut and will make you think of it long after finishing.
Before I didn’t think much of it but whilst I got more and more engrossed in the story it pulled me in deep and didn’t let me go until I had completely finished it.
This is a story that will blow you away and will be a million times better then you ever expected!
It’s deep, extremely intense and touches upon some very interesting topics!
There will be a few main characters introduced and the story spans over a few years time.
Again, am I saying much? No! Why you ask? This is one roller-coaster ride full of surprises you NEED to discover yourselves.
Get yourself a comfy place to read, have some tissues ready and prepare to be blown away by this amazing tale about how one move can change ones life forever.
Oh and this is one of those stories where the title has multiple meanings and a key part in the book.
Example:
“You need to listen to me. You did not do anything wrong.” He takes both my hands. “You didn’t push send, Hads. You never would have.”
Some quotes:
“I won’t give up on you. You should try to join the fight., Hads.” - Pax
“Someday, you’ll trust again. Someday, you’ll believe that you are worth loving. Someday, you will allow yourself to hope, dream, and laugh again. Someday, Hadley, you will be okay.” - Pax
“Keep smiling, Hadley Asher, regardless of what happens. And by the way, you are truly beautiful inside and out.” - Pax

I've been seeing this book around Facebook and was very interested in giving it a go. I was honestly happy that I requested this title because it was truly refreshing.
Pushing Send<\B> was definitely different and fascinating. At first, I was very interested in seeing how the title of the book would be tied into the story and the authors did it perfectly. The story is a Young Adult told from the heroine's point of view. Pushing Send touched on some very serious issues like bullying and the horrible effects of social media.
Characters: Hadley recently moved to a new town and as any teenager, was not thrilled with her new life. She seemed unappreciative but then again she was a young. There was so many things going on in her life. Making new friends, her father's struggles and her mother who always seemed to treat her like a baby. Pushing Send told a story of a girl trying to hold on to her life even though it didn't seem like she would have one despite all the bad things happening around her.
This story took me on a high when Hadley finally felt like she had friends and was fitting in. I enjoyed seeing her open up a little but stayed true to who she was. When Hadley was at rock bottom, the twists, turns, hurt and heart wrenching moments had me bawling like a 3 year old baby.
Overall, a really good book. I thought it was well written and gripping . The only thing I really didn't get was Pax. His picture is on the cover of the book and I thought originally he would have a bigger part to play in the story. I still feel like I need to know him on a personal level. I hope there is more coming in regards to Pax. Good read!!!

Review: I was given a copy of Pushing Send by Reading Bliss and the author for an honest review. Hadley isn’t one to fit in. She has been to 3 schools in a year and that is hard for Hadley who just wants to blend in and not be noticed. But when her family moves from Buffalo to New York, Hadley’s new neighbor Lana befriends her and they become inseparable. When Lana’s stepbrother Paxton has to step in to help Hadley with Lana, it is not good. Then there is scandal and tragedy in the small community and Hadley becomes the focus. The girl who hides in books and wants to blend in, it is nearly impossible at this point. I liked this book. I liked the storyline and characters. It was a good read and I would recommend it to my friends. I give it 4 out of 5 stars!
I saw the synopsis for this book and decided to give it a try. It kept me up until the early hours as I couldn't believe what I was reading and was hoping it was all some horrible mistake. The tears were falling and I was at a loss for words. Why did this happen?
Fifteen year old Hadley has just moved to a small town in New York with her parents. She's attending her third school this year and only wants stability. Her father has a prescription pill addiction and her mother is trying to keep them afloat. She meets Lana, the girl next door, and finally has a friend. Lana also has an older step-brother Pax, who intrigues Hadley. While her friendship with Lana is touch and go, Pax is always there for her. It feels like she's finally starting to fit in with friends, school, sports. Then, the unthinkable happens at the after prom party at Claire's house. Claire, the ultimate mean girl who fools everyone with her turnaround from bully to friend. Lana gets caught in a compromising position and it gets leaked on social media, with Hadley to blame. From that point on, my jaw was on the floor. I could not believe the witch-hunt against Hadley. Why couldn't anyone see it was a setup?
I can't possibly understand what kids go through now since I grew up in a time without cell phones or social media. An extreme portrayal of bullying and the consequences to those affected.
I received a copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I was pulled right into this story. The story flowed so well I could not tell when the authors were switching in the story. The story has laughs, grief, pain, guilt, bullying, and heartbreak.
This is Hadley’s story. Hadley has changed to a few different schools recently and is about to start a new one again. She is meeting new friends. Already she can see that some of her friends don’t like other ones. But a party and one click of a send button changes everything. Tragedy strikes. Now she is living in a state of hell. She has a new set of rules she does not understand. She is being punished for something she didn’t do. Will the friends she made turn against her? Will the town? With all the pain and tragedy will she come out of this the same person? When grief turns into pain and anger will she remember to breathe?
There are some tear filled moments and some anger filled moments in this story. But all in all I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story from these two authors.
Where do you even begin to write a book that truly touches every emotion that you have. Not only is this Ally Derby's first book it most definitely will not be her last and I truly can not wait to see what more she gives us. This book every person young and old should read. The emotional impact this book has definitely will have you thinking about the way people treat one another and what truly words can do. This is Hadley's story one that will take you on an incredible ride to show what one mistake people think you made can spiral so out of control that your life can change in a instance. Another incredible character is Pax not only does he see the real Hadley but also becomes her cheerleader and is always the one who tells her "Breathe" he is most definitely someone that you want in your corner who can help you right all the wrongs and stands by her no matter what. There is so much more to say about this book but I think everyone needs to experience it themselves and see that it will definitely show you never to take life for Granted.
Five Star Read I was given a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.
Hadley Asher only wants to blend in but three moves in one year brings unwanted and unwelcomed attention. She befriends Lana the two becoming inseperable but Paxton,Lana's stepbrother has to step in and help Hadley handle Lana who can be hard to handle. Hadley becomes a target after a scandel and a tragedy rocks their little community. For a girl who hides behind books and wants to blend is finding it hard to breathe.
This was a fantastic debut novel. Beautifully written it tells the story of a girl who just wants to blend in and not be the focus of anyone. The secondary characters really adds to the storyline making it seem more realistic and let's you know that not all is what it seems to be. This book touches on subjects no teens should have to be going thru. My heart was breaking it seems lime halfway thru the story and didn't let up till I got to the end. I'm really looking forward to the next book, Ally did a wonderful job with her debut novel. Reviewed by Heather S. for the Art of Romance.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing a digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I give this somewhere between 3-3.5 stars. It was a quick and easy read and held my interest well. The story was a little overly dramatic at times, though, and some details seemed that they could have been better researched to reflect how things typically work in actuality. My other issue with the book is that the writing felt immature at times or unpolished more than I would expect, even for an ARC. When I finished the book and read the author bios, I discovered that the author is a middle school girl. That explains well the issues I found with the book. Knowing the young age of the author, it's actually impressive that she has written a full-length novel. It's a great first effort all things considered, and I think with age, her writing issues will work themselves out. It's a good read, but I bet if this girl continues to write, there will be great books in her future.
in this story we start off with a new girl moving to a new town and she makes new friends. They do all kinds of things together. When things turn wrong at a party and a video is made and someone sends it out into the web. Hadley's life turns upside down when her friend Lana goes on a downward spiral. Things happen and Lana's family to get revenge goes to a judge and has him do the unthinkable by putting Hadley in a institution for a crime she didn't commit. The whole town turns against this family. They call it bullying on Hadley's part but when the whole town turns against you and bully's to get their way they don't realize the way they have been acting is worse that anything to a young person. Will the action of these people bring down this young girl or will she be able to rise above the ashes. This was such a emotional book I couldn't put it down.
Pushing Send is a YA novel written by a debut author. I was gifted a copy of this in exchange for an honest review and for the first time in a long time I started at page one with no expectations, but I can honestly say that I was blown away by this book.
Pushing Send covers a lot of real obstacles faced by modern day teens; bullying, friendship, first love, grief and just the day to day slog of being a teen. What really stood out for me was just the emotional intensity that Ally Derby was able to get across in her words (you will definitely need a box of tissues when reading this). The characters were believable and I was utterly engrossed in them; I devoured this book from start to finish.
Ally Derby did an unbelievable job with her first book and I for one will definitely be checking out her work in the future.
I loved this book!! Great first book from these two authors and amazing start to a new series. Not a genre that I read a lot but so glad I read this. Brought back memories of those teenage years that are not all pleasant.
Hadley just wants to blend in and not be noticed but Lana won't allow it and neither will her brother Pax. They become best friends and the bullies come out. Tragedy strikes. Money buys injustice.
Hadley is a survivor. What does she survive? What did money do to her? What happens with Lana? Hadley's family? What part does Pax play in her life? All to be answered in this amazing book that touches on the very real subject of bullying>
Awesome book Ladies and I can't wait to read more!!
OMG What a great start to what will be a great Series. Hadley is the new girl who really hasn't had a real friend due to constantly moving. Starting her third school she meets Lana whilst trying to hide from being embarassed by her mom. They become fast friends along with Claire and Beatrice. Until one night crazy night and Hadley's world spirals into a nightmare. For two years life throws all it can at her and she still holds it together best she can. The one person she never expected to help her does and their friendship is begining to grow into something more. If you are looking for an ugly cry, but beautiful ending this is the book to give you that. Bravo ladies!
Wow!! This book is absolutely amazing, and I truly can't wait to see what else these Authors will bring us. This book truly touched my heart, and I think it is something every pre-teen and teenager should read, it shows kids what bullying can really do to someone.
I can't wait to read the next book in this series. Hadley's story is truly amazing and deals with so many different aspects of things that kids go through. As a mom it made me stop and think about the things we don't think are a big deal for our kids when we make decisions on what's best for our family. I can't wait to read more of Hadley and Pax's story. Take a chance on these Authors they are amazing!!
An amazing five star debut for Ally Derby and Jacqueline Ross! Fair warning, keep the tissues close by and fully stocked. Yep, I UGLY cried, it was that good! Bullying - a topic that is, at times, used or even abused in today's society, but is real nonetheless. The authors are able to reveal the raw emotions involved in bullying and the consequences that follow. My heart went out to Hadley aka Hads. How much could this child endure. Life is not fair and that keeps getting proven to her over and over again. Family struggles, teenage drama, learning to fit in, acceptance & injustice are just a few of the hot topics that are covered in this MUST read book. #tailsyoubeyouanddontletitbotheryou
I wasn't too sure about this book when I started it; I will admit that. It starts off as a regular YA contemporary of a girl becoming the "new girl" in a small town, trying to fit herself into a new group of friends. However, WOW! There is a serious bomb dropped in the beginning of the book and that's where the actual plot starts.
I wanted to scream for JUSTICE for this girl. Life isn't fair, yeah, yeah, yeah. But seriously, for this child to be used as an EXAMPLE, for her to be judged and accused for something SHE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH, yeah, see? 5 months later I am finally writing my review and I still get worked up and emotional over this book!
" Recieved book free for an honest review and here it is. I LOVED IT! Hadley's character was amazing. I fell in love immediately. This is not the type of book I would normally read but I have to say, I am glad I did. This book has it all. It made me laugh, cry and touched me deeply. I hope this book will help bring attention to the bullying issues teens struggle with and that it's not just children doing the bullying. Ally and Jacqueline did an incredible job bringing the characters to life for me. I look forward to future books from this pair and to sharing Pushing Send with my daughters. (l
I read an excerpt of this book at the end of another and it sounded like an OK read so I bought it, thinking it would just be another YA, teen angst, romance thing, but boy was I wrong!!! It's kind of hard to explain without giving spoilers, but I will say it had me in tears a couple of times, so sad. Then to find out it was written by a middle school student (and her Mother) literally blew me away. If you are debating whether to read this or not, I would say, definitely give it a go, if for no other reason than to see the exceptional writing of a teenager and her Mother. I don't think you'll be disappointed.
OK well I'm gonna start by saying that I received a ARC for a honest review, I'm on vacation in Florida and I have spent the morning reading Pushing Send and this is one of the most emotional and open your eyes to what is going on in schools and real life that I've ever read. Flawlessly written you'll seriously cry your eyes out through the whole thing, but it's so beautifully written that you just can't put it down. More review to come I'm a emotional mess right now and can't think. Lol Jacki I love you so much your daughter is so much her Beautiful Momma
Honestly this book has left me speechless! I was so overwhelmed by this story and the fact that it happens so many times in today's society. This book made me laugh, cry, and pray that my own 14 year old daughter never knows the grief that this book portrayed. This book was so wonderfully written. The authors poured there hearts into this book and as I read it you could totally tell. This story was eye opening and heartbreaking as well. I definitely recommend you read this and please have a box of tissues with you, because I'm pretty sure you're gonna need them.
I gave this 5 stars because that's all I was allowed. It was definitely worth more. It was easy to keep up with everyone involved. It didn't just throw a bunch of characters at you all at once. The storyline is phenomenal. I couldn't put it down. Here's the reason for the 5 stars. I went through laughing out loud, being mad, crying and had anxiety. When one book can do that to me it's saying something. You will not be disappointed by getting this. Just have a box of tissues ready. Can't wait for the next one.
Amazing story from these authors! Ally and Jacqueline have written a book that tells this heart-wrenching journey of a girl who was basically in the wrong place at the wrong time. I went through every possible emotion while reading this. I laughed, I cried, I was pissed off, and I was anxious. Although this is not the normal genre of book I gravitate to, once I began REALLY reading it, I could not put it down. I have also given the book to my 14-year old to read. It's a raw and real story that all teenagers should be reading! Way to go ladies! Can't wait to read what comes next!
