Gordon Van Zandt thought he was saving his family when they left the chaos of San Diego following the super-EMP attack, but he was horribly wrong. The long road towards safety in Idaho ended tragically when he and his son, Hunter, were captured by a madman. He managed to survive but not without suffering the loss of his son. Angry, distraught and vengeful, he embarks on a journey that will take him away from the rest of his family in search of justice and retribution. He's not alone on his quest, having saved a woman and her son from a band of marauders. With the promise of sanctuary in Idaho, they go with him, but his true destination is a secret he can't divulge. He's racing towards a collision course with Rahab, the man responsible for his son's death.

I like books written as a parallel to the main series of novels about an EMP or other disaster that takes place in our world. This story is about Gordon and Britney as they travel north toward Idaho and get derailed by some helpful people.
This short addition to the New World series by Hopf was an interesting little novella, but it was a bit too short. More than anything, it is just an additional couple chapters worth of a short period while Gordon was on the hunt for Rahab. The story itself was interesting and decently crafted, although, the editing for this short book was short of Hopf's usual quality. It seemed like almost every page had some typographical or grammatical error. I'd still read the next short addition, although I don't wish to pay $10 for it again.
This was a Novella. It follows Gordan van Zandt and his traveling companions Brittany and her son Tyler. The story takes place after The Long Road: A Postapocalyptic Novel (The New World Series Book 2) and I believe during Sanctuary: A Postapocalyptic Novel (The New World Series Book 3). The Story is something that happens along the road as the group travels. Loved the story. If you enjoy The New world series, you might want to pick up this Novella
I love the New World series, but this offshoot is unreadable due to a lack of editing. Typos, horrific punctuation, etc. throughout. Don't waste your time...it adds nothing to the underlying series.
