Do you want to be taken on a romantic adventure into the depths of Moorish Spain? Archaeologist Clara Luna retreats to her Spanish homeland one Summer to excavate an old fortress, When she encounters a handsome young immigrant, a holiday infatuation soon becomes an erotic obsession. Then when she finds an object in the dark waters under the Moorish fortress, she is thrust upon a journey into the depths of Moorish Spain and the secret legends surrounding the Alhambra palace. Clara sees how her medieval counterpart is both sister, best friend and slave to the last Moorish princess and she must shield herself from the plotting of concubines from beneath silk veils, hide behind pillars from a falling, delusional Emir and protect her lover's neck from the blade of scimitars until the Christian reconquest arrives and changes their lives forever. Clara's visions of a past life from within the blood-spilled Alhambra palace come from the last dark days of Moorish Spain and they lead Clara so far into the mysterious world of Moorish legend that she becomes unwilling to stop her obsession with the past though she must if she is to survive.

Karen Colibri was born in Spain. After studying Archaeology and Ancient History at the University of Malaga, she found out that there was a wealth of different civilizations under her feet and each told a different story. She spent the next 15 years writing them down, teaching English and exploring the hidden corners of Andalusia.

After spending the last 9 of these years in a tiny coastal village that nobody has ever heard of where a donkey or an ox is more commonly seen than a car, she has come back to her Yorkshire roots and lives there happily with her three children writing and planning her next visit.

I can’t even get through the first quarter of the book. The style of writing is difficult to follow and I often didn’t understand who was speaking during a dialogue. There was some graphic imagery that compelled me to put the book down altogether. The story at least seemed like it could be interesting but I would not consider this an enjoyable read.

5 Stars...A very complex book. Spanning 3 centuries from 500A.D, to 1490's, and the 2000's. Because the story continues thru multiple reincarnations, it is at times a bit confusing to follow. I must admit, I started the book 3 times, before I grasped the concept to follow thru till the finish. Definitely a dedicated author. Once you get into the flow of the story it grabs you and you have to finish. Usually I read a book in one day. Green Summer took me 4 days of concentrated reading. Many thanks to Karen Colibri for the ARC.

I enjoyed this book, but it wasn't spectacular. I found it very confusing during the first half, until I realised the reincarnation thing going on. The story was interesting, but the lack of editing was quite noticeable.

I received this book as part of goodreads giveaway.

Try as I did, I could not get into this one. I usually look forward to new writers and make it a point to read through it to offer feedback.

However, I deeply regret that this one just did not do it for me. The setting was exotic and the characters sounded promising but a few pages into it, they just left me cold and lost wondering where it was all heading.

I loved this book. The characters came alive to me and the landscape was unusual and beautiful. I couldn't put it down.
