Come Inside
Every October, the same house appears somewhere new.
Then people disappear.
This year, it has come to Blackwater.
Claire Hayes knows she has never seen the house before. At least, that's what she believes. But when she finds an envelope in its mailbox addressed in her own handwriting, the message inside contains only two
COME HOME.
Soon, the dead are calling from empty rooms. People are returning wrong. And Claire begins uncovering pieces of a childhood she was never supposed to remember.
The house knows her name.
It has been waiting for her.
And this time, it wants her to come inside.

I HAVE MADE A TERRIBLE LIFE CHOICE.
When my friend Georgia added me to Wolf Gunnar’s team, I was delighted.
It’s Wolf.
There’s a new book.
Obviously I’m saying yes.
Did I read the blurb properly before agreeing?
No.
Did I ask myself whether I actually enjoy horror?
Also no.
Because again…
It’s Wolf.
Well.
Hold my tea. ☕️
Because COME INSIDE nearly finished me.
This is my first proper horror/psychological thriller experience and apparently I decided to begin with the literary equivalent of walking into a haunted house alone at midnight.
Excellent judgement, Kimberley.
I am not a horror girlie.
Give me romance. Give me morally grey men. Give me emotional devastation.
But creepy psychological mind-fuckery?
Apparently that’s where I draw the line.
And Wolf absolutely found that line…
then stepped over it carrying a bloody chainsaw.
I started this at night.
Because apparently I have no survival instincts.
Was that a mistake?
OH. HELL. YES.
There came a point where I had to put my Kindle down and tell myself I would continue in daylight because my imagination was already doing entirely too much.
And that’s the thing about Wolf’s writing.
It’s hauntingly beautiful.
He doesn’t just tell you what’s happening. He puts you inside it.
You feel the anxiety.
The dread.
The confusion.
The creeping realisation that something is very, very wrong.
And you can visualise EVERYTHING.
Including the things you absolutely do not want to visualise.
Like teeth where teeth have absolutely no business being.
Nope.
Still thinking about that.
Thanks, Wolf.
Come Inside completely had me in a chokehold.
Every twist had me thinking I had worked something out, only for the story to turn around and make me question absolutely everything.
I was literally shouting at the characters:
“NO. NO. DON’T DO THAT.”
They did that.
Of course they did.
This isn’t a fluffy little Halloween read.
This is spooky season with the lights on.
It’s atmospheric, disturbing, beautifully written and seriously creepy.
And somehow, underneath all the horror, Wolf still manages to make you feel connected to the characters, which only makes the fear worse because you actually CARE what happens to them.
Would I recommend it?
If you’re a horror/psychological thriller reader…
Absolutely.
If you’re like me and think you’re not a horror reader?
Well…
Maybe put the kettle on first.
Keep the lights on.
And perhaps don’t start it after dark.
Because once that house appears…
you might want to think twice before you go inside.
And Wolf?
I have questions.
Mostly:
Why did I trust you?

Wolf Gunnar has entered the horror genre and he has knocked it out of the park!! I am not even sure how to review this book without giving spoilers.
I read this in one sitting. I did not want to stop reading it...I needed to figure out what was going on with the dang house that appeared out of thin air. Also, as much as I want to be a horror girl - I needed to finish it before it got dark out and before my husband left for his business trip. Our house is super quiet when only one of us is home and I have an overactive imagination.
This book has all the creepy vibes I would expect in a horror book plus add in the psychological mindfvck that Wolf writes so well.
He is going to pull you into the world to the point that you will feel the anxiety of the characters, and you will be able to visualize everything, even the mind-bending gross parts, like teeth where they shouldn't be.
This book had me in a chokehold through every twist and turn and I was screaming at the characters No, no, no, don't do THAT!!! They did that.
Without giving anything away - this book took one Appalachian "superstition" that this girl FULLY ABIDES by and twisted it into a new version of a "haunted house".
One of my favorite quotes came early in the book:
"You're going back."
"No."
"You absolutely are."
"Why would I?"
"Because there's a house where there wasn't a house, an old lady saw Cousin It waving from the attic, and someone told you not to investigate. You have never been more likely to do anything in your life."
I am fairly new to the horror genre myself, remember overactive imagination, but I love a good phycological horror when I do dive in. This is not a jump scare kind of horror, this is one that will alter the way your brain functions.
I would highly recommend!

A paranormal horror blended with a "what the fvck" thriller beyond compare! @authorwolfgunnar steps into another new genre and just like his other books knocks it out of the park.
I devoured this in less than one day and absolutely could not put it down. Wolf keeps you on the edge of your seat from the first word until the last. Having read all of Wolf's other books, at about the halfway mark I was developing theories and was pretty confident I knew where he was taking his story. I was catastrophically incorrect but that is besides the point! I am amazed at how Wolf can write any genre, fully immerse you in the story and keep you guessing. The ending is absolutely brilliant and this is one book I wish I could read again for the first time.
"I'm not forgetting you."
"You won't know you did."
Graphic, brutal and brilliant this is one page turner of a book for any dark horror reader that enjoys a solid "What the fvck did I just read" in all of the best possibly ways.

Arghhh another amazing story from Wolf!
I DEVOURED this story... At first I didn't think I would be able to fit it in my schedule for the month but when I started reading yesterday I just couldn't stop! I read THE WHOLE book in 1 day!
This book sent my brain on a total melt down ... In the best way 😂
I'm still processing now ....
This has all the creepy, horror and psychological vibes you could want for this time of the year!
The way Wolf writes ... You really get into the world ... Like you can see and feel everything... Even the gross parts 🤢😅
His descriptive writing has you in a chokehold and the twists and turns are incredible!
And look how STUNNING the cover is! 😍

Arc review and these are my own thoughts and feelings
I. Am. Not. OK.
This book just proves to me the incredible talent of Wolf Gunnar and that he is able to write any genre.
This book is just in time for spooky season and is a masterpiece that ranks up there with other great horror writers like King, Koontz, McCammon and Hill. It's been a very long time since I read anything horror related and well this book is one that I seriously needed to read during daylight hours.
It's creepy, gory, and made me question my sanity on more than one occasion.
If you want/need to be frightened half to 💀 then this book is for you. Now I'm just going to check that all my lights are on!

Simply, what the fuck???
When asked what I thought while reading this book was WTF. This book is top tier CREEPY!!
Once again Wolf Gunnar manages to bring this book alive with his words. I was so immersed in this book that I could see these things happening in my own small town.
If you love your horror with gore and mental fuckery then this book needs to be on your list if book this Halloween season.
Because what is more terrifying then being forgotten?

This is a - what the hell - kind of book. The amount of times I paused and stared or thought, wait what, is insane.
This is a psychological horror story about a house that just appears. Of course it's noticed and someone has to investigate. That's when things just get weird. Knocking and voices. Pictures that appear and then disappear. Hidden rooms. Family secrets. There's gore, a whose who mind f*ck and a wide range of characters.
There is also this underlining story of grief, loss, want and a need to understand.
As someone who loves thrillers and horror, I thought Wolf was beyond descriptive and took you on every turn you could think of. Just when you think you might know what's going on, he flips it again! It's written to where you can picture the characters, rooms, and all the things that happen in between. That's when the creepy feeling settles in.
If you love psychological horrors, with a story line that keeps you guessing every page, then this book is for you.
Just remember - don't answer the voices unless you can see who they are coming from.

This was a very interesting and very creepy story. It's confusing in a deliberate way that made it even scarier and detailed in a way that created the perfect atmosphere quickly going from eerie to horrifying.
When it says "graphic horror " it means "graphic horror." My brain "helpfully" tried to provide visuals for most of the stuff in here, and it was... quite the experience. As shocking as a lot of the scenes were, nothing felt like it's written just for the shock of it; every scene has a purpose, for creating the place, or the characters, or moving the story forward.
The plot is very clever; it kept me guessing and forming theory after theory what is happening. I wasn't right even once. The plot twists have plot twists.
I could have read this just for the atmosphere, or just for the story, and the combination of both made this a fantastic read!

5⭐ and a few things I would now like to unsee.
This is the kind of horror I love: a little haunted, a little psychological, and very disturbing
The book is written in a way that made every unsettling detail feel a little too close. The descriptions are so vivid that some scenes played way too clearly in my head. The level of detail made the horror super immersive without relying only on gore.
The psychological part was "fun", playing with memory, grief and what is real. There is always a dark underneath what is happening, and the more the story reveals, the more disturbing the whole picture becomes.
Beautifully written horror with some absolutely horrible images.

Wow! This was horror at it’s finest. I was totally immersed in the story from beginning to end. Definitely a page turner. Claire had me second guessing what was going on and just when I think I might have it , boom 💥 that theory went out the window. Writing style really kept you in it all the way. Gore was up to par not too over the top done just right.
Highly recommend you won’t be disappointed
"Don't let Daddy eat me." I looked at Harker. He had heard it. "What happened to your dad?" The boy's hand tightened. "He got hungry."

Advance Reader Review
Honestly, I don't usually read these types of books, but I really love Wolf's writing style. Basically, if he writes it, I will read it. So, did I love it? Yes. Did I have to stop reading before bed? Also, yes! His writing transports you into this horror story about a mysterious house that appears every October, full of secrets. It felt like I was right there with Claire as she tried to uncover the answers. About the past, her family, and herself. This book is perfect for the season, and you'll definitely be thinking about it long after you finish.
