A thick layer of snow blankets Heather Creek Farm, and as Christmas draws near, everyone is getting into the holiday spirit. Charlotte is looking forward to a nice quiet celebration with her family, but when an unexpected visitor arrives on the farm, everything is about to change. Kevin Slater, the children’s father, hasn’t contacted the family since he left almost nine years ago. What could he possibly want after all this time? As the kids struggle to understand the father they’d long given up hope on, Kevin admits he intends to take custody. Charlotte and Bob gear up for a long legal battle, and everyone wrestles with what this means for the children. Meanwhile, Emily is struggling to find a way to adjust having to share her best friend with a boyfriend, Christopher is hard at work on plans for Pete and Dana’s new home, and Sam is supposed to be finishing up his college applications. But how does Kevin figure into his future? And with Bill’s wife, Anna due to give birth any day, Advent takes on a whole new meaning for the Stevenson Family. As Christmas draws closer, they all try to enjoy the magic of this special season and the blessing of their time together—whatever the future holds.

I think this is the best book of the series, so far. It was full of drama and suspense. Read how Charlotte, Bob, Pete, Emily, Sam, and Christopher react to Kevin, the kid's dad, shows up. Does he want the children to live with him or does he just want to see them? Meanwhile, Anna is about to give birth to her son, do Anna bond over this experience? Where are Pete and Dana going to live since the apartment over the shed has burned down? Read this really good book to find out!

It’s Christmas time and things are tense, Pete is still trying to find a place for him and his future wife to live, Anna is having a baby any day now after many problems, Emily lost her best friend and the children’s father is back. He says he is going for custody and Charlotte and Bob are worried about a long battle they can’t afford.

I read this in the summer because that's where I was in the series. That being said, it wasn't "too Christmasy" so it didn't seem all that strange.
