Today only, get this 1# Amazon bestseller for just $2.99. Regularly priced at $9.99. Read on your PC, Mac, smart phone, tablet or Kindle device

It is clear that many of the things the author talks about in this book are things that most black people would be afraid to talk about in America. However, these are issues that all Americans must have an understanding of. There are many other books that talk about what racial relations in America are like today, but they do not reflect on the long history of racial relations in America.
The author brings new insight into the way America was built. It is clear that America has tried to rewrite its history so that people are not aware of all the horrible acts that took place. From the time the author was a child, he asked himself many questions and he read many books to find answers to these questions because the people around him did not seem to have a clear understanding.
This is a book that all American should read. Many white Americans clearly do not want to deal with or face these issues, but this is very necessary in creating a future America that consists of unity and equality. It is important that the author’s views on how to make a positive change are understood by American society.

Excellent summary book!

I always like to read summary books first to see if I would be interest in reading the whole book. This was a great summary book and really pulled me into reading it. It gives just enough details on each chapter that made me want to read more on this man and the racism he has seen in the world around him. It's not a typical book I would pull of the shelf but this book gave such a great summary that I now need to read the entire book!

An excellent discussion about race relations in this country in the wake of a multitude of killings of unarmed black men - i.e. Trayvon Martin. As the mother of murdered Prince Jones said to the author's son, "You exist. You matter. You have value. You have every right to wear your hoodie, to play your music as loud as you want. You have every right to be you. And no one should deter you from being you. You have to be you. And you can never be afraid to be you."

Great ideas about the world we live in, more a open letter than book. writing style is somewhat disjointed, while some area were intriguing and well developed. I love the phrase "cosmopolitan teenager" and I totally get it.
