3 - "I am not entirely indifferent to you." Stars.

A lot of the things I think about One Night with a Star are extremely similar to the things I felt about its predecessor One Summer with a Star, again it was very much a 50/50 book for me, and I was trundling merrily along and getting on quite well with Jenny and Simon’s reconnection after his disappearance from her life 18 months previous, after one sexy-hot, and ultimately unforgettable night together at Sand Dollar Point, things started to go downhill from the 40% mark, and didn't really pick up again after that for me.

”This is not last summer… This is so much more.”

Simon now back in Summerbury for Spencer and Tasha’s nuptials (book one) is in for quite a shock when he realizes the woman he hasn’t stopped thinking about is actually now the mother of his child, a child he had no idea about. This and their gradual building of a newer and stronger relationship were the things I absolutely loved about the book.

Where it went awry, and turned a little slapstick for me was the over inclusion of Neil (the turd) the man who Jenny calls ‘boyfriend’, I honestly cannot think of enough derogatory things to say about this guy, and while I understood the authors reasons for having him in the book it just went on for too long, he ended up looking like, and sounding (in my head) like a pantomime villain. Add in to the fact if he used the phrase ”You Hollywood types” once, he used a hundred times more, and a story that held a lot of promise, and was being enjoyed immensely, fizzled out greatly because of it. There were enough things for this couple to work through without adding him so vigorously into the mix.

”If you’re not happy, make changes.”

I really like Merry Farmer’s writing style, the storyline was solid, but I think this couple lost the impact they could have had because of the overplayed secondary character, or the turd in this case. Discovering you have a baby son after what you thought was a one night stand with a woman you haven’t stopped thinking about, dealing with addictions and becoming a stronger person for it, and reconnecting with the father of your child, as well as trying to rebuild trust and take that leap towards being a family together were enough issues for Jenny and Simon to deal with and I find it a shame that, this part of their story was overlooked somewhat because of everything else.

”Love doesn’t change, only the ways people experience it.”

This is an easygoing read, if you aren’t looking for something too stressful, great for your holiday in that you can pick it up as and when you feel the urge, without worrying too much that you are going to forget what was going on.

I enjoyed the book, but it would be good if the author consulted a map before writing about real places. She repeatedly talks about St John, Newfoundland, but the city in Newfoundland is called St. John's. St John is located in New Brunswick.

One Night With a Star is book two in the Second Chances series by Merry Farmer. The book takes place in Maine. The characters are wonderful and the plot is simple but with twists. This story is about being given a second chance and taking it.
Life has changed drastically for Jenny Young since her one night with actor Simon Mercer. It seems that night left her with a little present- Daniel. She has gone through her pregnancy with only her family and through birth. However hard things have been, she never once regretted getting her true love out of it- her son Daniel. Now, her best friend Tasha Pike was marrying Spencer Ellis and Simon should be making his appearance as best man at any minute. How is she going to tell him about Daniel? Will it make a difference?

I would have given this book 5 stars but the typos were painfully horrible and numerous. I’m a Simon fan. His growth was admirable. On to the third installment in this series. And the spice was giving 🔥🔥

One night with a Star by Merry Farmer is Jenny and Simon’s story

It’s my second book by the author in as many days. I read the first book in the Second Chances series and just had to read this one ...

Loved this book for the characters and the storyline ...

Jenny is strong, especially after the last 15 months. She’s a mother now and is barely holding things together while caring for her infant and trying to stay afloat with her job.

Simon has been focusing on himself and putting his self-destructive ways behind him. He’s just had the biggest surprise of all and is convinced that making things permanent with Jenny is the right thing to do.

But he’s got to get Jenny to take a chance despite her overbearing boyfriend, her dubious father, and her own doubts.

Great book #2 ... off to read book #3

If you need to read a mindless and predictable book this is the one for you-which was the case for me. Also, it is poorly edited.

Not my usual read, but having read the previous book a few years ago I’d thought I’d give this a go. It was pretty predictable but still a nice story

I enjoyed this novel too. There were some scenes that made this prude blush, but the story and characters were so interesting I kept reading.
I recommend this book too.

This is the follow up to Summer With A Star in the Second Chances Series by Merry Farmer. Another sweet Cinderella story although this prince didn't start out so charming.
Jenny Young hasn't seen famous actor, Simon Mercer since he left her over a year ago. Pregnant. Not that he knows their night of passion resulted in his heir. He's about to find out when they reunite at the wedding of their friends Tash and Spence (from Summer With A Star).
Jenny's life has changed completely since having her son. Her career is on the verge of collapse, she has had to move back in with her parents and she's in a lukewarm relationship with a man she met in middle school. The prospect of seeing Simon again has her on edge with the memory of his abandonment.
Simon's life was a shambles when he met Jenny. He felt something with her that he'd never felt before. She gave him the final reason he needed to clean up his act. He's hoping for a second chance at forever. When he discovers he's a dad he's elated. Can he convince Jenny that he's staying for good this time or will circumstances and meddling middle school misers get in the way?
Jenny has turned a bit meek and mild after her failed affair with Simon left her pregnant. She has been vulnerable and her new boyfriend, accountant Neil swooped in to take advantage. She stayed with Neil out of obligation and then because she felt trapped. It made me want to shake her awake. Fortunately, we see Jenny's character get her spark and her strength back, grasping the courage to take what she wants out of life.
Simon has turned his life around. He's now at the point where Spence was a year ago. Wanting a relationship and home to ground him when his work life is otherwise variable. He and Jenny are a good combination, having a zest for life and an affinity with people in common. They squeeze as much enjoyment out of life as they can; something that has gotten them into trouble in the past.
I loved the return of Simon's agent, Yvonne. Not above playing dirty, she hovers on the edge between friend and foe at times, but she always has her client’s best interests at heart. I was cheering for the good guys on Yvonne's team.
This book fits firmly in the category of sweet romance.

We actually met Jenny and Simon in Summer With a Star. But that was last year and a lot has happened in that time. Simon went to work on his personal demons and Jenny…well, Jenny delivered an amazing bundle of joy. When they come together again for a wedding, sparks fly, tempers flare and passions ignite.

I really felt for Jenny in this book. For the woman who was so self assured and had it all going on in Summer With a Star, she really has had her world turned upside down and she’s still not able to get her bearings straight. That poor girl couldn’t win for losing. Simon really was a different man in this book than what we saw in Summer With a Star. And the way he took to finding out being a father was awesome and made me wish more men were…well, men. These two had a lot of misunderstanding and hurt feelings to overcome, on top of a very spiteful individual before they could truly be free to act on the feelings that they obviously had for one another.

Ms. Farmer continues to grow this little world on the coast of Maine. And as she continues to do so, she introduces such wonderful characters, like Daniel and Mr. Oliver. There were a few that I was REALLY not keen on. Now, I’m really curious to know who the next book is going to be about. Because it could be a couple of people, but no one really stands out in my mind. Ms Farmer has as much a flair for contemporary romance as she does for western romance. As with her other books, I can’t wait to see where this leads us. So, question is, would I recommend...(https://textuallove.wordpress.com/201...) Read the rest of the review behind the link.

CLOSING THE DEAL FOR THE FUTURE

When Jenny's best friend, Tasha Pike, comes down for the summer and a change in reservations brings Hollywood Spencer Ellis into the picture from book one. Spencer's friend and co-star, Simon Mercer, came to town and sparks flew between him and Jenny, but only as a one night stand. Now we are 15 months down the road and Spence and Tasha's wedding. But there will be surprises, Simon is best man and Jenny is maid of honor, so they will have to see each other. What happens when Simon finds out he has a son from that one erotic night? Jenny is devoted to her son and has no resentment towards him, he is her pride and joy, but Simon is a sore spot. Simon Mercer fell hard for Jenny, but he had a bad reputation as a bad-boy and nasty habits that would have to change. Can he have a second chance? What happens when Second Chances show is picked up for a full season but one person is trying to derail the show from being taped at Twin Pines?

This story will keep the reader captivated with witty dialogue, entertaining characters and heartwarming scenes. Can two people, from two different lifestyles make a relationship work? Do you let hurt from that one erotic night harden your heart when you wake up alone or is the future, love, new beginnings and family worth fighting for? Note: This is an erotic romance, where there are steamy and explicit sex scenes between two people falling in love. Disclosure: I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. A five star read! A story you will never want to put it down! Full of passion, loyalty, and the act of finding what you truly want in life and going after it.

For those of you who have already read One Summer With a Star, then you are familiar with our main character here, the outgoing and spunky Jenny Young. She was known as the realtor of all realtors, she could close and sell a house without breaking a sweat. All that ended when she got pregnant and had a son which she named Daniel. To everyone Daniel looked like a spitting image of his mother, but to Jenny her son looked just like his father...celebrity heartthrob Simon Mercer.

Simon Mercer, a man known to the public as the party-goer who will never settle down. But for the British actor, he wants nothing but to change his ways and find a good woman to settle down and stat a family with. Upon meeting Jenny that first time that summer in Maine(Read about it in Summer With a Star), he knew that Jenny was the one for him. But in order for his dream to become a reality, he had to go away to fix his problems, but what he didn't know was that that one night was all it too for Jenny to become pregnant! Six months later he finds out the truth of the matter and vows to be the best he has ever been for both Jenny and Daniel.

Will Simon be successful in winning Jenny back and getting the family he has always dreamed of? Or will the looming threat of his job potentially relocating be what becomes that nail that drives them further apart?

The second book in the Second Chance series.

Jenny Young is helping best friend Tasha get ready to marry her fiancé Daniel. Now a single mother of a six month old son Daniel. Jenny's life has changed. Now she needs to prepare herself for Simon coming back for the wedding. It will be the first time she has seen him since their one night together. Knowing there isn't any chance of getting around him finding out about Daniel. She thinks she is ready to face him. Simon has never forgotten his night with Jenny. He had to leave for that year. He had to get his life under control. It had spiraled so far down. It was either change or give up. He can't wait to see Jenny again. He knew he had some explaining to do, but he never thought she had been keeping such a big secret from him.

I loved the first book in the series, but this one just took its place. Jenny wasn't just going to let Simon waltz back into her and Daniels life. She was trying to move on. Maybe her life wasn't the sane but she wouldn't trade Daniel for anything. I have to say Simon for all his arrogance of being a big name star, really impressed me when he found out about Daniel. Once he had his dumb founded moment. He was such a sweetheart. Then there is Jenny's new boyfriend Neil. What a real jerk. He really shows his true colors. The book keeps your turning page and rooting for Simon.

Realtor Jenny Young met Simon Mercer, a super famous British actor, one summer & they had one hot night of passion, before he left her without any explanation, much to her disappointment.
Next thing she knows, she's pregnant with his child & her busy life is turned upside down.
She starts dating an old school friend, Neil, who takes advantage of her situation when she was down & is in a rut.

Now it's her best friend Tasha's wedding day in which the groom's best man is guess who? you guessed it, Simon Mercer!
Simon has had his troubles over the past year & wants to turn his life around & make some changes for the better.

Aside from the wedding, Simon's in town to film the TV show 'Second Chances' which means he'll be around a lot if all goes to plan & wants Jenny to help find him a property to buy which will be near to them.
He wants Jenny back, but this time she has his son & he wants to prove to her that he can be there for both of them & be a family.
All he wants is a second chance!
But will she give it to him?

One Night with a Star, is the second book in the 'Second Chances' series by Merry Farmer.
I loved the first book, 'Summer With a Star'
& as it was so good, I knew this would be too & it didn't disappoint!
I mean, come on, this book has everything, a hot movie star, sexy scenes, romance, great characters & and a cute baby!! Who doesn't love all that?
Believe me when I say you won't be disappointed! 5⭐️

What Happens in One Night of Love?

Your life is turned upside down. Real Estate agent, Jenny, has one night of love with celebrity, Simon... nine months later results in baby Daniel. This is a second book of author Merry Farmer's SECOND CHANCES series. During her pregnancy, Jenny hooks up with Nerdy Neil, a friend since middle school because she's feeling lonely and all those other silly feelings that single pregnant women (married women feel the same ones)... unwanted and unlovable. This is set on the beautiful Coast if Maine. Simon does not know he's a father... and everyone else doesn't know who the father is, except for Jenny's best friend Tasha and her fiance/husband. (We open the book with their wedding, where Jenny and Simon are the maid of honor and best man, respectively.) Simon has no contact with Jenny for a very long time and finds out at the wedding that he has a son. This book has its twist and turns, ups and downs. But will true love win in the end? Read it and find out. Another Merry Farmer MUST READ!

Merry Farmer does it again!!! I loved this book!!!! I fell in love with the characters in Summer with a Star book 1 in this series and I couldn’t wait for One Night with a Star 2nd book in the Second Chances series to come out!

Jenny Young fell head over heels with movie star Simon Mercer. After one wild night in bed, she is hooked and he takes off leaving her with a big secret.

Simon is usually the rock them and leave them type. However, there is something about Jenny that makes him want to be a better man and actually stay. After one wild night of passion he takes off to clean up his act, and leaves Jenny without a word.

When Simon shows up to be the best man for his friend Spencer Ellis he hopes to iron things out with Jenny, however what he finds is the one woman he didn’t want to let go of and a 6 month old son. Can Simon prove that he has changed and is a better man? Can Jenny forgive him for leaving without saying anything?

Merry Farmer... I love her style. She writes these heartwarming Hollywood worthy romances that make me swoon. I loved Summer with A Star and I LOVED One Night With A Star too.

Simon Mercer walked away from Jenny Young after one incredibly night. He knew she was the one for him but he needed to make himself a better man first. Simon was awesome, funny and sweet.

Jenny Young has had a year of hard choices and is shocked to see Simon back in her life. She was SO feisty, I loved her so much. She took no crud from anyone, it was awesome to see her finally take control over her life and find her bliss.

Great story, full of love, friendships & loyalty. You root for these two to finally get passed all the obstacles and get to their happily ever after.
One Night With A Star is the perfect summer read.

***I received this book as an ARC for my honest opinion ***

This is the second book in the Second Chances series. Jenny is now a mom and stressing about Simon coming to town for Tasha and Spencers wedding. Simon doesn't know about Daniel.
When Simon finds out, he wants to be a part of his life. He wants to be a part of Jennys as well. Her boyfriend Neil, however(btw hate him) is going to do anything he can to keep Jenny away from Simon.
The story has steamy sex, breaking through fears and self discovery. I was truly happy with this story. I do wish it was a few pages longer, the end was a smidge rushed but still wonderful. This book, as well as the first are both wonderful. It's definitely a series to read! Great job Merry!

Read book 1 first

This is the second of three books featuring actors and directors and their love lives. All three are transition stories. They follow each other chronologically. I read book three first, then one and two. We met Simon and Jenny in book 1. Read book 2 to find out what happens to them.

I have read 9 Merry Farmer books other than this series in the past 6 months, all historical romance. I believe that this set of contemporary romances is much better written than the historical ones. Although there was some poor editing/proofreading in the ebook edition of book 2.

The author warns that these are steamy hot stories and I will admit to skimming over some of it. Too much for me.

Sweet and hot, fun read!

This was a sweet story, with a happy almost predictable ending...and that is a good thing! When you open a book like this, that is what you are looking for right? If it didn't make you cry just a bit and get just a bit fired up, then the author didn't make you care about the characters. I hope you enjoyed these guys as much as I did! Also it was a quick read, and with busy lives, that is also a good thing! Thank you Merry Farmer, good work!

For some reason, I really like hidden baby storylines (tho in real life that would be a sucky thing to do). I did like this, but I thought it dragged a bit. I would have enjoyed more focus on Simon/Jenny and less on her stupid ex. And boy was he was dumb and treated everyone like crap. I can't believe she knew him from grade school and it took her that long to realize he was a little pissant.

I have read several books by Merry Farmer now, and her books remain just as awesome as the first one. Picking up from Summer With A Star, the characters continue on their journey of finding love, conquering inner demons, and overcoming many obstacles. I was laughing and crying so much that when I was done, I felt good inside. I look forward to each of her books.

This is not my typical genre, but someting got my attention in the summary, and I was lucky enough to win a copy in a Goodreads giveaway.

I liked Merry's writing style; the characters were enjoyable, even Neil! There are some steamy parts, but the book was about more than that - opening up your heart, following your insticts, learning to trust, finding love...

* I received this book for free from Goodreads First Reads. *

This was a sweet second chance story with several fun characters. I loved how Simon was so captivated by his son and his caring for the residents of Twin Pines. The sweetest moments were with him interacting with these people. This is the first book I have read in this series and now I want to go back and see how things started.
